As someone who waited around 4 years to finally upgrade to the ps5, this ain’t a surprise. This generation of consoles is severely underwhelming compared to the progress previous generations made.
The PS4/Xbone were _extremely anemic_ on release, the Pro/1X finally gave it adequate GPU power but kept the poor CPU performance the same. The main change with those consoles were the switch to x86 and to more modern workflows comparable to PC, graphics & compute wise it wasn't that much of an effective jump. You really could build a decent PC comparable to a PS4 for the same budget. The PS5/SeX were actually a crazy good value, nowadays they're not amazing but still fairly decent. You couldn't build a PC for the price of a PS5 on release (MSRP, not scalp pricing), nowadays it's hard but doable.
I'd argue that the "progress" of the last two PS generations have been disappointing. The leap from PS2 to PS3 was fantastic, but from PS3 to PS4 and PS4 to PS5 have been minimal and in some ways even a little backward.

Concord was such a GENERATIONAL flop that Sony decided to charge 700 dollars for the PS5 Pro with no disk drive or vertical stand to recoup their losses.
PC provides much better value at this price point, so I just don't understand the point of a product like this. That's not even mentioning the lack of a disc drive and a lack of games that truly push the hardware.
My man, i was with you about PCs but with the optimization they're going through i rather Stick to the base console and have fun with it. What metters Is the fun you have with the games rather than graphics alone. It's not like we're playing the games at 15 fps with pixelated graphics though, we're playing very good games with more than decent performance and resolution. To tell you something, i dug out my PS2 back because silent Hill shattered memories got my interest and still, I'm enjoying it. This run to graphical greatness Is pointless as we are getting minimal improvement in time, also count that we still have very few games out.

Yeah selling a barely improved console for $700 and not including a disk drive or vertical stand is definitely going to make a whole lot of people not give a shit
It looks like it has sold well with all the sold out disk drives, which for me personally is a bit of a shame because it encourages them to do it more often, minor upgrades for massive costs.
Idk if you know this, but when the base ps5 released, the box had a 4K logo on it marketing that it can render 4K video. The months before the ps5 pro was announced, display boxes for the base ps5 were specially shipped out to gamestops WITHOUT the 4K logo on it, and I’m sure you’re not surprised, the 4K logo was added to the ps5 PRO

Realistically, the only reason to use max graphical fidelity on console and desktop (if your pc can’t handle a consistent 60fps or higher on max settings) if for nice screenshots and cinematic with slow cam movements.

@ honestly valid, I only use PC but I apply the principle I stated, if I wanna take a screenie, I cap my frames at 30 and put everything to the highest.
I was waiting on the PS5 Pro to buy into this generation. I still use lots of physical PS4 games and Blu-Rays. An $80 add-on for a disk drive is a kick in the teeth. Anyway, my refurbished PS5 from Sony's website has been great so far. And for half the price of what I would have to pay to consume physical media on a PS5 Pro.
I play on xbox and switch however I also like playstation as well. I just like video games. I don't get all tribal team sport mentality about video games like alot of people do for some reason. Console wars are beyond stupid but to each their own
PC isn't going away though. Because the uses for a PC vastly outnumber the uses for a console. There will always be DRM free indie games, which you can backup yourself which is just as good as discs. If gaming is headed that direction, I'll stick to old consoles and DRM free PC games.
5:11 you are neglecting to mention the reason most pc gamers are bringing up the 4090 is because a lot of sony fanboys have been claiming the PS5 pro beats a 4090 for a couple of months now. They also refuse to properly compare the PS5 to pc hardware. They keep using nvidia when they should be comparing it to AMD.
Play Demon's Souls, switch back and forth between performance and fidelity and now imagine fidelity at 60 but a tiny bit better. There's a huuge difference in image quality when you do this.

Sony is pretty much dominating the console generation. They probably feel they don't need to even try anymore. No competition means no need to improve.
7:45 - 8:00 I think I actually prefer the base PS5 look for the glass in that scene. I think it looks more visually appealing. I like how the inside of the diner looks. While the reflections on the PS5 Pro version are more realistic, I feel it loses style as now I can barely make out anything inside the diner because of the extra reflections of scenery behind Alan Wake. At that point imo, its probably not worth trying to see past the reflections and it just becomes unnecessary visual clutter.

the one main issue i have with the playstation and xbox games is them requiring us to have a account to play the games so no offline play the other issue with pc gaming is the companies forcing us to use launchers and accounts to play games we buy on steam im not up for that nonsense at all so console gaming is still needed
You can just not buy crappy releases. Can't wait for the flaming that last sentence will cause but platforms like GOG and Zoom (The Gaming Platform) exist for a reason. They just give you the installer, no DRM attached.
ps5 is a skip for me , there is no games on the damn thing , and i I bought most of the stations from one to four , but the way Sony is treating the PlayStation five is so sad
Gamestop had an alright deal on trading in of a PS5 towards a PS5 Pro, but it had to have the disc drive. I have a slim that I don't use but am getting the Pro tomorrow. Pulling the disc drive from my Slim and taking the plate from the Pro and putting it on the slim then selling it privately (already have a buyer). The upgrade isn't for everyone but some of us can appreciate the upgrade.
Make sure you're up to date on firmware updates weeks in advance. Chances are that any firmware update after the PS5 Pro's release is gonna break things across multiple games, so I won't be updating for a while after.
For that price point, I was hoping they'd just add in the disk drive. If they did, I would have considered buying it. I don't own a PS5, so I'm getting a new generation's worth of upgrade instead of a minimal improvement if I did own the base PS5.
Literally the only thing ps fans wanted was more internal storage. Speaking of which, wasn't the ps5 supposed to have a slot for an internal memory card? whatever happened to that?
I don’t think it’s fair to watch these benchmarks before there’s an Playstation 5 Pro patch. For example before patch RE4 remake , it was running at 1440p at 55-60 FPS at 4k with RT and Hair physics . after Playstation Pro patch it’s running 70-80 FPS at those settings.
As a ps5 and ps3 user, it’s sad that the new era doesn’t have that much exclusivity and more greed sadly enough. I’m very mad that the fact they didn’t even have the effort to put a disk drive and it’s sold out and ontop of that it’s 700$ which in that case just get a PC handheld or Budget Tier Gaming PC in the under 1000 dollar range. I’m never going to buy another console from these greedy corporations and just going to switch instead while I enjoy the ps4, ps3, and ps1. Good type of Classics while buying the decent new games that came out it recently. I also want to see another FPS because man, after shadow fall was a disappointment besides (its graphics lol) was just dud after dud like concord.
@ i get your point, i have a 4090 and an OLED Ultrawide but no matter what it can replicate the experiece i get from playing on my 75inch OLED TV. it’s not optimized well enough like a console is. With the Pro coming out and seeing what it’s capable of , it seems to me it’ll be perfect for my TV with its capabilities. All comes down to if you want to spend the extra money or not. i don’t mind since i ain’t struggling at all.
That's what i expected. I expected it to be a little bit slower than my rx7700xt/r7 5800x system, and so it is, and i payed pretty much same cash as ps5 pro costs with stand and disk drive.
Get the Pro if you really care about having both quality mode and 60fps. If you're fine with the fidelity of performance mode in the base ps5, go with that instead.
Sony releasing a PS5 pro with no disk drive at $700 with barely any noticable improvement was never going to end good.

This "new features" is what we were promised with the original PS5 in the 1st place. Sony just screwed us over, yet people are still praising them 🤦

They were not promised on the original PS5 and to get that it would have been $1,000 at launch.
Sony has the Apple factor. People will just buy whatever they throw out there at a huge mark up because they think it's premium.
We should wait for the next-gen Pro. All the new features promised on the PS6 will be on the actual PS6 the Pro.
@@victorvargas9330hey, I just saw this scavenger comment on a different thread. Are you just spamming this?
