1984 saw the long-awaited reunion of the classic Deep Purple Mark II line-up of Ritchie Blackmore, Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Jon Lord and Ian Paice. It was the first time they had been together since 1973. They recorded a brand new studio album, "Perfect Strangers" and headed out on tour. This show was filmed in Melbourne, Australia and is the only full length concert film of the band at this time. It's a stunning concert with the band in incendiary form. The setlist mixes then new tracks from the "Perfect Strangers" album with favourites from the early seventies culminating in the brilliant "Smoke On The Water" finale. This is without doubt one of the finest Deep Purple concerts ever filmed and a must have for their legions of fans.

Geezer and Tony beat him into shape during the tour, and I guess it stuck with him for a while after. What I like about this particular tour is that it's kind of "Heavy Metal Sabbath-Ian" doing Purple.

I thought the whole problem during Born Again was that Ian didn`t wear black leather!
I was gonna buy the dvd off Amazon but its advertised as NTSC (I thought that was the American standard?) Although it does say Region 2 so it must be ok.
The MK2 lineup in full flight once more, great stuff. Shame the great Mr Lord is buried a bit in the mix.
I still say this opening riff was We Ain't Got Nothing Yet by Blues Magoos as the opening to Stairway to Heaven WAS Taurus by Spirit/ but I guess it's eventually all recycled in 12-Tonal music !!!###

Why aren't you releasing the 13.12.84 Sydney show is beyond me!!! It is a far more superior performance and as far as I see bits and pieces of it are used here to fill in the bad camera work.

У Иана Гиллана очень слабые мышцы рук и всего тела. Ему нужно с юных лет заниматься больше спортом, укреплять тело и мышцы шеи (НУЖНО БЫЛО ).
По-моему, там все в порядке и с мышцами и с руками). Главный его инструмент - голос. Лучший голос всех времен!!! А на досуге, они играли в футбол, катались на горных лыжах, по-моему, даже с парашютом прыгали) Так что, все у него нормально! 👍💜
