I don't think this can be understated enough. Either when Marika obfuscated the lands of shadow or for some other reason, the entirety of the golden order and the lands between was built on a foundation of literally nothing lol. Nobody bothered to even ask. Ranni committed terrible crimes for quite literally no reason. I'm not even sure how any entity was able to actually imprison Marika in the Erdtree after she shattered the ER. There's literally no force that could've stopped her lol. Certainly wouldn't be the greater will LOL. Basically, if you think too hard about SOTE lore, you kinda eventually come to the conclusion that FromSoft destroyed their lore. Not to even mention the Radahn retcon.

The elden beast traps marika, and turns raddagon into a weapon, much like the fingerslayer blade. Ranni commited her acts to cut off all the influence from all the outer gods, and create a new world where the god (her) cannot be conctacted, so the ulitmate sins those gods demand in worship cannot be repeated. Shes not just stopping the greater will, but also the scarlet rot, formless mother, frenzied flame, the fell god and possibly several others like the great serpent and some unkown ones. And Rahdahn isnt a retcon. Ranni ,godwyn, the nox, selvius, sellen, vyke , the mausoleums and miqeullas corpse all show that souls and flesh are two sperate things, and can be revived, duplicated and transfered between vessels. Your argument about shadow of the erdtrees lore is just what you claim the lands between are built on, nothing but a massive misinterpritaition
Bayle is metal AF. Bayle is the reason we even have dragon communion. A being SO PSYCHOTIC, he challenged and severely injured an ELDEN LORD and lived to tell the tale. Said Elden Lord then creates an entire ritual dedicated to hunting down Bayle and his kin in retaliation (Dragon Communion), producing what is now Drake Knights. Bayle is still kicking around despite the Ritual for ages, seeing civilizations rise and crumble to dust. And to top it off, even IF you manage to kill Bayle and consume his heart, his psychotic murderous rage will TAKE OVER YOUR SOUL. I fucking love all the lore around this character.

Since the Greater Will is gone and the communication to the Greater Will comes from the Two Fingers that goes through Metyr then to the Greater Will, this means Metyr has been winging it the whole time. She's the one who's responsible for all the shit in the base game just cus her dad's being an absent parent.
2 things abt midra - The torch nanaya has is the spine of a previous failed Lord of Frenzy - and it’s all that remains of said Lord. This seems to imply she’s a figure like Hyetta (but more direct) trying to make a Lord. Midra’s remembrance incant supports this as it says he wasn’t the first failed frenzy Lord. - Nanaya’s curse - as it’s called - for him to ‘endure’ seems more like it’s her trying to get the madness within him to fester til he becomes a Lord. Unendurable Frenzy’s description makes it seem like more pain/suffering = more frenzy

I will not stand for Rellana slanders. Her lore is interesting because the implications of her joining Messmer's crusade could tell us the timeline of things. Like, Rellana could join Messmer during Radagon and Rennala's marriage, during which time is when Marika sends Messmer to purge the Hornsents and it would make sense that the Carian would help the Golden Order. Or she join Messmee before the Leyndell vs Carian, her renouncing her royal status to follow Messmer wouldn't be approved by Rennala, but she obviously didn't stopped her. Also she isn't just some Carain knight, her skills for swordmanship and sorcery is so great she became Messmer's Sword, not just that, when she decided to join Messmer she gain herself followers which shows how charismatic and skillful she is. And her knowing Messmer would fail, but still chose to stay with him prove how loyal she is. The fact you dismiss this as a "simp" is undeserved. Rellana is amazing
One issue is that Messmer is more likely a Radagon+Marika child because of the red hair and unspoken child naming convention. Which kinda implies that Rellana is Messmers Aunt who abandoned her grieving sister to essentially serve under her nephew who in turn serves under the man who broke her sisters heart and the woman she was left for.

Rahdahn also learns gravity magic from a onyx lord with gius, which is why they are freindly rivals. And then Mesmer is sent on crusade with Gius and rellana follows them

The fact rennala gifted her sister with a lock of hair, suggesting a large send off, it does suggest that it happend long before she was cucked. Rahdahn was probabaly the oldest, given his size, and hes the only one mentioned to have had a relaitionship with Mesmer/Gius. Ranni also finds solace in the snowy crone when Rennala loses her mind, so he Aunt, rellana, was probabaly not around.
I understand all the criticism towards Radahn being the final boss, but guys, 3 of the main cast of NPC's explain why Radahn is here, and it also explains what Malenia said to Radahn in the first Elden Ring trailer. The build up was crazy, it felt like the Godfrey fight, a lord vs a lord.

Yes, I agree that, in the dlc, it's build up. In the main game, it leaves lots of incoherences and grotesque holes in the lore that doesn't make sense, that's why I hate it, because it's possible to have a prime radahn and a godwyn boss fight due to radahn holding the stars (which means no eclipse) for example

Metyr, I clapped him in 1 try, but he's like #2 next to Bayle for me. First try on Bayle I got him to half and he melted me. I came back after progressing the story of Dragon Communion more, got the buff, got Igon, and having Igon's voice acting made the fight come more alive. Every other NPC summon has nothing to offer minus one or two with a line or Dialogue. THIS mf just can't hold his fury in and rages most of the fight and even when it ends. I love it.

Gaius was actually surprisingly interesting for me. If you explore the area after killing him, you'll find a random albinauric archer (the kind in Consecrated Snowfields) who drops some footwear item of Gaius's that states he's actually an albinauric too
I like the vid, dedication wise is pretty good. What you should know though is that the ranking you did seems much more like fight build up than just lore itself.
Im absolutely sure that someone else will point that out, but.... Dude, Metyr revelations are one of the most important lore stuff in a whole game. It should switch places with Bayle - fight with him is FUCKIN EPIC (plus CURSE YOU BAYLE!!, ofc), but lore wise, its just a uber drake that fought Placidusax, rip off his two heads and lost. How is this more important than a whole World being build on a lie for possibly milions of years?
Imagine you and the dragonlord having an intense fight to the (almost) death and badly injuring eachother after an epic 1 on 1. And then the 5.4 ft guy with big sword kills the both of you on his own.
I think the whimsical design of the Putrescent Knight is a perfect pair with Saint Trina's vibes. It's meant to look like a "gentle and dreamy" knight, but at the same time he's creepy and dark; he rappresents the slow putrescence and decay and i think has a lot of contact points with both Malenia's rot and Godwyn's death, i don't remember where but there was an item or a dialogue in the base game that described Godwyn's state like an eternal slumber.
20:00 Btw the God that Placidusaxx served is heavily implied to be Greater Will. Similar to GW, Placidusaxx's god left the lands between. It is likely Greater Will stopped giving its guidance around the end of Placidusaxx's reign. Also flames in this verse are usually indicative of an outer god. Ex: Bloodflame->Formless Mother, Ghostflame->Twin Birds etc. And the only two enemies that have Golden Flames are Placidusaxx and Elden Beast. Yeah, I loved how much this DLC adds to Dragon Lore.

greater will is not a god he's an outer god, there's a big difference. Placi is waiting for his god whom he's a lord to like godfrey and marika or miquella and radahn. Plus just because placi has multiple genders doesn't mean he's his own god. Miquella and marika both disprove this

Honestly, Rellanna would have been infinitely improved if her name was Renna. Ranni using her aunt's name as a cover and her Rise to hide her portal would very much check out. Edit: In terms of Romina, the remembrance mentions that the butterflies were masterless. It's unlikely that she was the one sealed, but instead is almost like Metyr to the Greater Will. A communication point between the world and something sealed or far away. Its possible that her becoming a Saint of Rot is what allowed the Rot God to create an Empyrean of its own. But those are only my thoughts.
As much as I think people exaggerate the issue with her name a bit too much, that would've been incredible if her name was Renna. Ranni could've even met the Snow Witch through her to tie it all together even more.

I just cannot comprehend how the f*ck did you manage to put rellana below 2 of the least important bosses. Rellana's lore was a bit secretive yes but she was the queen of all carian knights and she sacrificed her life and her career for messmer who was on the road of failure which she knew. A detail I noticed is that Metyr is the mother of all TWO fingers and fingercreepers. That confirms that the three fingers do not share the same origin as the others

Miquella is trying to dominate everything turning everyone into essentially drones Malenia is damaged goods and needs to be kept away from godhood at all costs Marika is too broken to be of any use to anyone other than to serve as a vessel for the elden ring Rani is downright ruthless willing to orchestrate the night of the black knives and butcher her siblings to get what she wants. Then upon becoming a god promptly leaves with you and the elden ring not really attempting to fix anything. (I personally rate age of stars as the best ending with the duskborn age as my second choice)

The only gods we actually see and fight are Radagon/Marika and Miquells+Radahn and killing them also gives you the message god felled, so I don’t think the scorpion lady is supposed to be the actual god of war sealed away in the lands between. I also believe the outer gods are different to Marika and Miquellas kind of godhood with both of them being different to the greater will aswell.
Radahn lore is not good tbh. Nothing about his connection to Miquella in the base game. Would've rather fought Marika right after her ascension to godhood because the trailer with her at the divine gate is cooler than any cutscene from the actual dlc...
That scene is really cool, but it would've been super contrived to somehow make that work. Also would be kinda redundant since you already fight Radagon and Marika would be on your side. The Radahn lore is actually pretty decent, though. There already was a bit linking Miquella and Radahn in the base game with the whole fact that we already knew Malenia was fighting him due to something to do with Miquella and there was the whole whisper in his ear thing. Fromsoft DLC final bosses almost always have no or minimal build up in the base game (Manus is never mentioned, we just know the Abyss exists, Sinh was never mentioned, Fume Knight wasn't mentioned, Ivory King wasn't mentioned, Gael wasn't mentioned)

I know that this isnt relevant to the video but I think there’s a clue in cuphead you could use to solve the lore. In inkwell isle three, we meet this fork NPC. He gives us a filter if we get gold rank on a bunch of bosses. However, he could be connected to the dish warriors. (He is a fork after all) Plus, why the two tone filter? It just feels too random. Maybe this has something to do with the astral plane.

Personal opinion, but I'll always find Radahn to have the worst reason to exist as a boss story wise, because it ruins the already perfect ending they gave to him in the base game. That, and the fact that Miquella supposedly uses Mohg's body and yet we see his body fucking DISSIPATE when we kill him. They could've easily done how they did with Morgott and put his body somewhere in the arena afterwards, and yet they don't. This just stinks of rushed writing to me. ALSO, they made such a big deal of it being Mohg's body that Radahn's soul being put into, and yet the only influence of Mohg despite him being a completely different person, both physically and mentally, to Radahn is some horns on his gauntlets and ONE. SINGULAR. BLOODFLAME ATTACK.

He also asks initially to watch your step so you don’t walk on the little one, who is most definitely Yuri the finger creeper

Miquella ended up being evil but he DID care for his sister and for the unwanted in the beginning. The path of godhood and abandoning his parts behind is what made him this way. Honestly I’ve seen worse characters than him in the game. To me, making people love you is not more terrifying than sticking limps of other warriors into your body, causing genocide, or devouring them one by one like a gluttonous shit, or performing horrifying blood rituals. As long as you know what you’re doing with this love compel, which Miquella used in the wrong ways…
I love the lore of the DLC. I love the boss fights in the DLC. The hate this DLC is getting makes me sad. It reminds me of why Valve said they’ll never make Half Life 3; the expectations are so high there’s no point because everyone will be mad it wasn’t what they envisioned in their head.

I think this is the main problem with the DLC. The lore was just not on point, and most of it was completely disconnected from the main game. Most NPCs here were never mentioned in the main game. And then Radahn made no sense as a last boss, I understand if they didn't want to make Miquella a fighter but then at least give him something NEW. Radahn could be the pre-boss, kind of like how fight Godfrey and Radagon before the Elden Beast, and that would be fine. Some of the few high points for me were meeting stuff like Midra and St. Trina who were actually well established in previous lore.
Rellana is probably one of the most unnecessary remembrance bosses I’ve ever seen. Like you can just take her out of the game entirely and nothing changes. I am just fully convinced she was just added in last minute right before the dlc came out.

Since the Greater Will is gone and the communication to the Greater Will comes from the Two Fingers that goes through Metyr then to the Greater Will, this means Metyr has been winging it the whole time. She's the one who's responsible for all the shit in the base game just cus her dad's being an absent parent.
2 things abt midra
- The torch nanaya has is the spine of a previous failed Lord of Frenzy - and it’s all that remains of said Lord. This seems to imply she’s a figure like Hyetta (but more direct) trying to make a Lord. Midra’s remembrance incant supports this as it says he wasn’t the first failed frenzy Lord.
- Nanaya’s curse - as it’s called - for him to ‘endure’ seems more like it’s her trying to get the madness within him to fester til he becomes a Lord. Unendurable Frenzy’s description makes it seem like more pain/suffering = more frenzy
It’s actually the spine of her and Midra’s kid. In the photo, she’s holding her stomach, implying she’s pregnant. That’s why the spine is so small

I will not stand for Rellana slanders. Her lore is interesting because the implications of her joining Messmer's crusade could tell us the timeline of things. Like, Rellana could join Messmer during Radagon and Rennala's marriage, during which time is when Marika sends Messmer to purge the Hornsents and it would make sense that the Carian would help the Golden Order.
Or she join Messmee before the Leyndell vs Carian, her renouncing her royal status to follow Messmer wouldn't be approved by Rennala, but she obviously didn't stopped her.
Also she isn't just some Carain knight, her skills for swordmanship and sorcery is so great she became Messmer's Sword, not just that, when she decided to join Messmer she gain herself followers which shows how charismatic and skillful she is. And her knowing Messmer would fail, but still chose to stay with him prove how loyal she is. The fact you dismiss this as a "simp" is undeserved. Rellana is amazing
She deserved a cutscene and some voicelines.
One issue is that Messmer is more likely a Radagon+Marika child because of the red hair and unspoken child naming convention. Which kinda implies that Rellana is Messmers Aunt who abandoned her grieving sister to essentially serve under her nephew who in turn serves under the man who broke her sisters heart and the woman she was left for.

Radagon marries rennala. Brings his child with him, Mesmer. He grows close to rellana, which is why she follows him. Rahdahn is born, he grows up with mesmer, which is why hes like a brother. Rahdahn also learns gravity magic from a onyx lord with gius, which is why they are freindly rivals.
And then Mesmer is sent on crusade with Gius and rellana follows them

The fact rennala gifted her sister with a lock of hair, suggesting a large send off, it does suggest that it happend long before she was cucked.
Rahdahn was probabaly the oldest, given his size, and hes the only one mentioned to have had a relaitionship with Mesmer/Gius.
Ranni also finds solace in the snowy crone when Rennala loses her mind, so he Aunt, rellana, was probabaly not around.
I understand all the criticism towards Radahn being the final boss, but guys, 3 of the main cast of NPC's explain why Radahn is here, and it also explains what Malenia said to Radahn in the first Elden Ring trailer. The build up was crazy, it felt like the Godfrey fight, a lord vs a lord.

In the main game, it leaves lots of incoherences and grotesque holes in the lore that doesn't make sense, that's why I hate it, because it's possible to have a prime radahn and a godwyn boss fight due to radahn holding the stars (which means no eclipse) for example

Also we know messmer was sealed later on after Godfrey was banished as he knows what a tarnished is and Godfrey was banished when he became the first tarnished
Metyr, I clapped him in 1 try, but he's like #2 next to Bayle for me. First try on Bayle I got him to half and he melted me. I came back after progressing the story of Dragon Communion more, got the buff, got Igon, and having Igon's voice acting made the fight come more alive. Every other NPC summon has nothing to offer minus one or two with a line or Dialogue. THIS mf just can't hold his fury in and rages most of the fight and even when it ends. I love it.

Gaius was actually surprisingly interesting for me. If you explore the area after killing him, you'll find a random albinauric archer (the kind in Consecrated Snowfields) who drops some footwear item of Gaius's that states he's actually an albinauric too
I like the vid, dedication wise is pretty good. What you should know though is that the ranking you did seems much more like fight build up than just lore itself.
For me the build up to each fight is part of the lore, knowing who we are about to fight, and than learning the why
Im absolutely sure that someone else will point that out, but.... Dude, Metyr revelations are one of the most important lore stuff in a whole game. It should switch places with Bayle - fight with him is FUCKIN EPIC (plus CURSE YOU BAYLE!!, ofc), but lore wise, its just a uber drake that fought Placidusax, rip off his two heads and lost. How is this more important than a whole World being build on a lie for possibly milions of years?
Imagine you and the dragonlord having an intense fight to the (almost) death and badly injuring eachother after an epic 1 on 1. And then the 5.4 ft guy with big sword kills the both of you on his own.

I think the whimsical design of the Putrescent Knight is a perfect pair with Saint Trina's vibes.
It's meant to look like a "gentle and dreamy" knight, but at the same time he's creepy and dark; he rappresents the slow putrescence and decay and i think has a lot of contact points with both Malenia's rot and Godwyn's death, i don't remember where but there was an item or a dialogue in the base game that described Godwyn's state like an eternal slumber.
20:00 Btw the God that Placidusaxx served is heavily implied to be Greater Will. Similar to GW, Placidusaxx's god left the lands between. It is likely Greater Will stopped giving its guidance around the end of Placidusaxx's reign.
Also flames in this verse are usually indicative of an outer god. Ex: Bloodflame->Formless Mother, Ghostflame->Twin Birds etc. And the only two enemies that have Golden Flames are Placidusaxx and Elden Beast. Yeah, I loved how much this DLC adds to Dragon Lore.
Placidusax was consort to a god similar to how godfrey or radagon was married to Marika

greater will is not a god he's an outer god, there's a big difference. Placi is waiting for his god whom he's a lord to like godfrey and marika or miquella and radahn. Plus just because placi has multiple genders doesn't mean he's his own god. Miquella and marika both disprove this

Edit: In terms of Romina, the remembrance mentions that the butterflies were masterless. It's unlikely that she was the one sealed, but instead is almost like Metyr to the Greater Will. A communication point between the world and something sealed or far away. Its possible that her becoming a Saint of Rot is what allowed the Rot God to create an Empyrean of its own.
But those are only my thoughts.
As much as I think people exaggerate the issue with her name a bit too much, that would've been incredible if her name was Renna. Ranni could've even met the Snow Witch through her to tie it all together even more.

Rellana's lore was a bit secretive yes but she was the queen of all carian knights and she sacrificed her life and her career for messmer who was on the road of failure which she knew. Rani is downright ruthless willing to orchestrate the night of the black knives and butcher her siblings to get what she wants. Then upon becoming a god promptly leaves with you and the elden ring not really attempting to fix anything. (I personally rate age of stars as the best ending with the duskborn age as my second choice)
for rellana lore, a friend suggested to me, that the blue dancer talisman mentions her as melanias teacher.
That is just plain wrong. Does this mean godfrey is the blue dancer cause his cape is blue?? Maybe it was ranni all along, dancing in the moolight, godwyn not feeling so warm and bright cause he’s full of death blight.
The only gods we actually see and fight are Radagon/Marika and Miquells+Radahn and killing them also gives you the message god felled, so I don’t think the scorpion lady is supposed to be the actual god of war sealed away in the lands between. I also believe the outer gods are different to Marika and Miquellas kind of godhood with both of them being different to the greater will aswell.

Radahn lore is not good tbh. Nothing about his connection to Miquella in the base game. Would've rather fought Marika right after her ascension to godhood because the trailer with her at the divine gate is cooler than any cutscene from the actual dlc...
That scene is really cool, but it would've been super contrived to somehow make that work. Also would be kinda redundant since you already fight Radagon and Marika would be on your side. The Radahn lore is actually pretty decent, though. There already was a bit linking Miquella and Radahn in the base game with the whole fact that we already knew Malenia was fighting him due to something to do with Miquella and there was the whole whisper in his ear thing. Fromsoft DLC final bosses almost always have no or minimal build up in the base game (Manus is never mentioned, we just know the Abyss exists, Sinh was never mentioned, Fume Knight wasn't mentioned, Ivory King wasn't mentioned, Gael wasn't mentioned)

It would've been really cool if we could've gone in the Gate of Divinity to get an alternate ending and maybe got to see an actual conversation with Miquella and Radahn or maybe even a cutscene showing a memory of how Marika became a god like from the trailer.

I know that this isnt relevant to the video but I think there’s a clue in cuphead you could use to solve the lore. In inkwell isle three, we meet this fork NPC. He gives us a filter if we get gold rank on a bunch of bosses. However, he could be connected to the dish warriors. (He is a fork after all) Plus, why the two tone filter? It just feels too random. Maybe this has something to do with the astral plane.

Personal opinion, but I'll always find Radahn to have the worst reason to exist as a boss story wise, because it ruins the already perfect ending they gave to him in the base game.
That, and the fact that Miquella supposedly uses Mohg's body and yet we see his body fucking DISSIPATE when we kill him. They could've easily done how they did with Morgott and put his body somewhere in the arena afterwards, and yet they don't. This just stinks of rushed writing to me.
ALSO, they made such a big deal of it being Mohg's body that Radahn's soul being put into, and yet the only influence of Mohg despite him being a completely different person, both physically and mentally, to Radahn is some horns on his gauntlets and ONE. SINGULAR. BLOODFLAME ATTACK.
For tbh the dancing lion deserves to be higher in the list. Because it also explains why markia hated the omen so much in the original game. The original game explanation kinda felt off.

I love the lore of the DLC. I love the boss fights in the DLC. The hate this DLC is getting makes me sad. It reminds me of why Valve said they’ll never make Half Life 3; the expectations are so high there’s no point because everyone will be mad it wasn’t what they envisioned in their head.

I think this is the main problem with the DLC. The lore was just not on point, and most of it was completely disconnected from the main game. Most NPCs here were never mentioned in the main game. And then Radahn made no sense as a last boss, I understand if they didn't want to make Miquella a fighter but then at least give him something NEW. Radahn could be the pre-boss, kind of like how fight Godfrey and Radagon before the Elden Beast, and that would be fine. Some of the few high points for me were meeting stuff like Midra and St. Trina who were actually well established in previous lore.
