Hi Bruce, Your flying was the best that I have seen on XJjet for ages! Many thanks for your review of the TX12. I was so impressed that I have ordered one, it arrived a few days ago and I have been exploring its features (and OpenTX for the first time) . . . and I am gradually getting to grips with everything The size of the Tx is just right, weight with 2 x 18650s is spot-on and the metal roller works perfectly! I bought it because its layout is virtually identical to my Futaba 14SG, apart from the two rotary knobs which I don't use anyway, the side sliders are much more convenient. The Futaba S-FHSS receivers bind well, but I did find that I needed to adjust the Frequency Tune option to +38 to get a really solid, jitter-free link. You said "Who uses CORONA?", well I do. I dug out one 4 channel and four 8 channel CORONA receivers and they all have bound quickly, perfectly and work very smoothly. I last used them about 8 years ago with a Tx module in my Robbe Futaba FC-18 which is now not used, so they will have a new life ahead of them working with the TX12. I will use the TX12 for all sizes of slope gliders ranging from the Alula, DLGs, Phase 6, Multiplex Heron and Cularis right up to my 4 metre ASH26, as it is so much lighter to carry when walking up to the slope launching point or exploring hills and cliffs with the TX12 and a glider in my rucksack. Thanks again Bruce, all the best, Eric
Yeah! First! Still have my Jumper down due to those bloody terrible flat wire connections...so not going to rush into your recommendations, Bruce. Great channel, mate. Keep safe.
What a time to get into rc. The fact that you can get a nice radio under 100$ is awesome. When I started you basically had to spend minimum 300$ for a decent radio
Great for kids and back packs. I have the Jumper T12 with an even smaller screen and no rotary knob. Its pretty awfull but handy and it still fits a full size xfire transmitter.
Other than the small size, what do you see on this unit that would prevent it from being a good primary radio? You mention several times that it would be best as a backpack or secondary radio but you didn't really explain why.
Nice little radio. I see that Jumper have their T-Lite coming, a gamepad style radio (like the FrSky X-Lite). Then, I'm sure that RadioMaster will improve it 😉.
@@marc_frank Shape-wise, yeah. Quality-wise, probably. Feature-wise, not even close (better than the X-Lite too), especially the full 4in1 multiprotocol version. But, as I said, RadioMaster will almost certainly make a better one - which I might consider. I currently use the original X-Lite (also have an X9D+), the only thing I don't like about it is having to swap between the multiprotocol module and Crossfire module. Of course, a Tango2 would solve that problem too (a lot more expensive though).
@@Temporal_Flux the quality of the literadio 2's gimbals are absolutely awful. The gimbals just stop working out of nowhere left and right. Happened to mee too, then I Got replacement ones from betafpv and it happened again 🙄 You can fix it by soldering the wires on a second time but that just makes it unreliable and dangerous! One of my gimbals failed midair and the quad went crazy
@@ValFPV Well, that sucks. I hadn't realised they were that bad. It seemed to get good reviews. The T-Lite should be much better than that then. Although, Jumper seem to have had their fair share of problems too.
I didn't realise the SMA connector was good for repeated interface cycles. Also I agree, it would be nice if manufacturers standardised the button layout.
the big question is: why does this one has a removable antenna and the 16s not. they said it was to follow FCC rules with the 16s, so does that mean the tx12 doesn't follow the rules? I'm confused now.
Hmm... the Jumper T12 has "+22dbm" output as stated by the specs. I got it because my old DX6i was 23dbm so I needed equivalent power. 20 dbm is quite a bit lower, oh and no dsmx, the shame! I do like the new usb-c (jumper t12 has the mini-usb pos) the folding handle, and the labeled buttons. The back of the radio is flatter, which will allow for TweetFPVs TX Grips to cover completely. One thing about the Jumper T12 that EVERY owner experiences is squeaky gimbals. You can fix it by lubricating the tension slides on the gimbals. You didn't really get the camera in there for me to see if Radiomaster lubed this part, as Jumper didn't and I was left using my own supply of damping lube (Nyogel 767a) to correct the issue.
Man you got so much cool stuff. So the TX12 is pre production?... To be honest when I made the transition from a smaller toy drones radio to the X9D I kinda baulked at the size difference because I had already had the muscle memory honed for the smaller toy radio. It did make a difference to me. Sure would like to get my hands on one of those soon just to see. Heck if the price is comparable I would just get one anyway just because. Love my TX16S no doubt.
this is kind like a flysky/turnigy 9x but more compact and improved, i do like it, i am not a big fan of lcd color screens for work under sunlight. the tango 2 and its clone jumpet t-lite have a bit too tinny screen, anyway, nice to see new products to select from,
I'm still using my Jumper T12 Pro which is basically the same size (but has more switches). I actually got it as a replacement for my original Jumper T16 mainly because of the size. I personally would miss not being able to bind to FlySky and Spektrum, which are actually my main protocols (do have some FrSky/Futaba, but just a few). But if you only fly FrSky anyway? Sure, why not. The fact that this has the oldschool monochrome display is great for sunlight and was another reason to get the T12, and let's be honest it's usually sunny (or at least not raining) when we're out flying. One significant advantage of this over the T12 Pro is that it has the scroll wheel for navigation and not the clunky 4-way switches (assuming they fix that thing, obviously). Maybe I could swap my full 4-in-1 internal multiprotocol module over to get the best of both worlds? That would be great. And I still got an external multiprotocol from my old T16 anyway (there was no internal module back then). Price seems to be just 70 bucks, too. So that's a plus!
Great videos.. Can you also make a video on how openTX RC Radio Transmitter communicates with transmitter module like TBS crossfire? I have some STM32F4xx boards on my bench and I wonder if I can also make an OpenTX transmitter that can communicate with TBS Crossfire. I want to know what protocol TBS Crossfire communicates with, like SPI, IC2 etc. THanks in advance.
Hi Bruce , on the subject of transmitters , I need some help if possible , a while back you did a review of the Turnigy 9x. Well I've bought one , and am having the same problem as a lot of others with the 9x , mainly bind a receiver , all good , select a new model and bind another receiver........and the first one , no longer bound . All the settings are still there , but I have to bind the first one again , bind it , the second one is now needing binding , so frustrating if I had any hair to pull out , well I guess I'd be in the position I am now , now hair lol . Do you know if this is a fault , or am I doing something wrong ? To be honest , I'm not even game to use this transmitter for model aircraft , any suggestions apart from using it as a paper weight or an anchor for a very small boat ?
Hi Bruce, does it support the FrSky "V8" protocol? I have a lot of Rx FrSky V8R7 and V8R4 and I would like to know if I can use them with this transmitter. Great review, greetings and thank you very much
I really would like to see a 50ohm terminator in this littlle plug for the antenna. How often do people forget to put the the antenna back on wihle working on the bench.
Actually, this radio suits me just fine. I bought an FRSKY x-lite as something to throw in a lightweight back pack. I didn't get on with it because the screen was tiny and its shape made it slippery like a bar of soap. I like my TX16s but it's bigger than a 9xd and a lot hevier as well. Not great for relaxed 40 minute flights.
Can you raise the height of the sticks (are they adjustable?), is there anything it doesn't do, by comparison to say a regular Taranis ? Thx Bruce, great job.
Hey Bruce! Thanks for posting this review and the flight video! I'll be looking for this radio or the TX12s version to go with my build of your 250 outlaw! Do you suggest a 4ch or 6ch receiver?
I really like the small radios in generell. But it doesn't have flysky which kills it for me. There's basicly nothing better then the flysky ia6b receivers for planes. They are so cheap and work well. 20 bucks will get you 2 volt sensors a vario and the receiver :D

Did this multi module only have cc2500 chip or all 4? On advertising says only protocols compatible with cc2500.
I wonder what is the battery life with a Crossfire MicroTX module.
If you slap in 3500mah cells and consider radio and module pulling about 4watt at 8v (it will be around these numbers) that's 500ma so about 7 hours.
