Great video TJ, Cool smaller radio, now i would loved something like that when i had my XK 120 heli cause hated the factory radio. But Out of all the brands why wouldn't they put Spektrum in it.... that is 90% what people fly. I know at my field its more popular then anything else.

Probably cause it is a budget radio and they would have had to put better multi module on it the would make the price point not what they wanted it to be.

officially supported means that it has its own thing in OpenTX unlike the BetaFPV Lite Radio 2 which uses the qx7 one

I hope potenciometers are better than in BetaFPV RadioLite2. Mine in RL2 started to "shake" positions after a week :/ I found some solution to unassemble them and bend metal piece that tracks resistive layer but in parraler started to look for better radio. Seems like Tx12 is good candidate

Seeing FlySky under Type in Multi Mode is a bit confusing when this radio doesn't support FlySky (3:18 in video), being as how it only has a CC2005 chip rather than something like a JP4-in-1. Man I want one of these. :)

All radios are really 1 channel (well, unless it's like Crossfire with telemetry back). The "channels" aren't channels, but just number of square waves sent per packet. 16 variable width square waves sent per package, they call it 16 channel. same as an 8 channel, but packet length is twice as long, at half the number of packets per second. Receiver reads the square wave time length, assigned it to a variable, thranslates that to a range --1000 to +1000 (or whatever), and then passes that on to flight controller to be used to control whatever you assigned it to. You can look at the packets and square waves with an oscilliscope, and when you do 9videos on youtube), it immediately becomes clear how it works, how straight forward, and at least in principal, how simple it is.

The fact that it's lighter and smaller that my two TX-16s and has a JR bay for Crossfire makes me come back and look again at this transmitter.
The fact that it's non-HAL, missing a bunch of switches, ugly, monochrome, and $20 too expensive... makes me pass on adding it to my stable.
The missing switches for me is the fatal blow really. I use all my switches and trims as momentary switches. Also the pot gimbals. As an in the field transmitter, you'll never wear out the gimbals.. but if you're like me and use it as a controller in a sim I fly constantly... they are the only control you use alone and non-stop so I put a ton of mileage on mine. For a simulator controller, HAL effect gimbals... necessity. But if all you do is real world flying, you won't ever be up in the air long enough to ever wear out pot gimbals.
I would recommend passing on tis radio and getting the basic black HAL version of the TX-16s for around $130. You get the touch color screen, gimbals, and all those switches that way. Keep it basic black... once you start trying to bling it out the cost goes $$$ up up up without adding any functionality.
What none of these reviewers will tell you, is OpenX is a total b1tch to configure. You can do a lot with it, but out of the box your radio is a blank slate that will do nothing, operate nothing, not even arm your model. You'll have to watch at least 20-40 videos and spend several weeks/months at it if you are coming in from zero/cold. If you have a job and no time for that kind of hassle, forget this radio. Get yourself the DJI system and the DJI controller that is setup to work out of the box. This radio is more like a Commodore 64, where when you power it up, you just get a blank screen with a blinking cursor and it does nothing... you'll have to program it.. in the radio, in OpenTX companion, and in Betaflight/iNav/Kiss whatever. I don't recommend it to anyhone who is not tech savy and comfortable with flashing firmware, installing drivers, or changing settings, testing, going back, repeating... sometimes 30-50 times in a row until you get it right or figure it out.

Bought a TX12 recently to replace my Jumper T8SG, and I like it. I fly real-world exclusively. The pots in my good ol', 4 year-old, tried-'n'-true OG T8SG were totally clapped out, so your assertion that pots don't wear out if you fly real-world doesn't persuade the pots in my aged Jumper to continue to operate noise-free.
As to OpenTX: I was very familiar with Deviation, and never used OpenTX before. I had my TX12 configured as close as I could get to my T8SG's stick feel, and had all switches and the bells 'n' whistles sorted out in less than one hour. Full disclosure: I learned to program devices on a Commodore 64 back in the 1980s, and have used that talent on all programmable devices that I own. I've forgotten more operating systems and programming languages than what I use on a daily basis. The C64 was a far more impressive device to me back in the early 80s than any gadget available on the market today. PCs had yet to become household devices, and the smart phone was science fiction.
I wouldn't own a full-sized transmitter if I was given one for free. The form factor's not for me: too big, clunky, and heavy. As a real-world flyer, I have to consider size and weight coz I hafta lug that crap around. My needs are more than just having an overly-expensive and complex game controller.
      You do you, tho'.
P.S. That's a 'Hall-effect sensor' you're referring to. The phenomena is named after its discoverer, Edwin Hall.

@@billmcdonald4335 Well, when you're a hard core blind aerobatic flyer like me, youw ant as many switches as possible to read out things back to you as I can't see STTT in an OSD.
I fly the sim mostly anyway since its way more fun than the real RC hobby moneypit. The real hobby has blown complete chunks for me. I put $3000 in it so far and have only flown 5 minutes. It's been a complete bust and a rlp0ff so far. The sim though, the sims are aweseom. 3,000 hours so far and still truckign.
The actual RC hobby itself is total g6rg6ge. I hate to sayt hat because soem of my best friends are big names in the RC hobby, but it didn't work at all for me. It's misogynistic as h3ll like general aviation and very ambivalent of people with dsabilities or visual impairments.
Fo the past 2 years all my RC equipment but one X15s has collected dust. Oddly, I keep throwing money at it... I'm receiving a $209 Axis Flying Box today as well as some props and a Frsky USB dongle. One last desperate attempt to fly FPV to an actual monitor and not those rubbish goggles which people with visual impairments can't use at all.
So yeah, different strokes for different folks.
I'm a hardcore gamer girl and 5 year game server admin, and would never fly with a gamepad controller. But I mean, never say never?

Not suppose to happen. Guess what. My first model, kapow, game over.

I'm just only wonder why you always need to choose between small cheaper radio without hall gimbals and limited multi (Tx12) or BIG HEAVY radio with everything (Tx16s). Sorry but big radios are just impractical to me. At the end it's just drone and you don't really need millions of channels/switches to fly. I'm coming from PlayStation world where pad was small and compact. I really don't like big radios with mass of almost 1 kg. The only compact choice with hall is now expensive TBS Tango 2 but it's only crossfire :( I wouldn't mind to pay even $450 for PlayStation like looking COMPACT radio with everything (hall, multi, crossfire) but AFAIK there is nothing on the market like that.
