to all the newbies , investing in cert is a good thing but it is just an introduction to a tech world and can give you an edge to competition however the sure way of getting a job is to have a project on your resume .Since you are a beginner , the easy way to get hands on a project is knowing scripting/coding which can help you to participate in open source projects or small mini projects for a startup .This has more value than any certification .
this man is preaching facts any project no matter how small will stand out in your resume.
Which coding languages/scripts would you reccomend?
I failed so bad in college that it haunts me to this day. I put all the blame on my self. I'm working at a hospital for minimum wage, struggling to pay my bills, but i won't give up on my studies. Hopefully it pays of in the end.
bro.. dnt give up.this is life it gives us chances to prove ourselves one last time.give your fullest.good luck man. i want to see you too as a successful one.stay blessed.
Keep up the hard work
The trainings and certifications do teach you the technology, tools and best practices. But they don't teach you "experience" unfortunately. And in real life that is what employers are looking for.... Imagine a scenario where you have an issue with an AWS service and the client asks you to explain your strategy to resolve it. The experienced Solution Architect would take few minutes to handle the situation and also satisfy the client. The person with zero experience (maybe only certifications) would get confused and most probably won't be able to assess the issue in first place. Let alone strategise to solve the issue. So at the end experience is a golden key.
Having said that, I am not trying to disappoint people. But it is better to have "realistic" hopes rather than having "unrealistic"ones in order to have a right mind-set to plan your next move properly.
I do have following suggestions for people who don't have work experience in AWS but want to enter into the domain...(on top of certifying yourself):
× Try to do hands-on with AWS Free tier account. By that I don't mean only to try random stuff (e.g launch instances, create EBS volume, etc). Do a complete project yourself, like in a real life scenario which would give you confidence about your skills as a cloud engineer. Eg: try to build a dynamic website with AWS on back-end, etc.
x Do make-break-make cycles on your projects. What I mean by that is, let's say you have created a sample project using major AWS services, eg EC2, Route 53, S3 buckets etc. Try to simulate fail-overs and other scenarios which could happen in real life. Maybe an EC2 instant went down, website is not reachable etc.
x Make social contacts with experienced AWS Solution Architects and discuss the kind of projects they are delivering and challenges they are facing. This will broaden your knowledge...Also maybe those contacts can help you land a job as well ;)
× subscribe to online forums, GitHub etc.
× Read white papers, attend conferences, etc.
Bottomline is: you need to really deep-dive into the Cloud world, learn, experiment and broaden your knowledge. With those newly acquired skills and knowledge, equipped with right attitude.....I guess things will become lot easier....
At then end, we all start from somewhere 😉
irizk1 so are you saying it would be a waste of money if I was trying to change my occupancy
Plebian Bargain No he’s saying you need experience to land a job. That’s true of almost all skilled positions.
Good advice here -
Totally agree. I've been in I.T for over 25 years as an infrastructure engineer/manager. I'm an MCSA/CCNA etc. I learnt and passed my AWS Solution Architect - Associate and have applied for over 120 jobs and not had one interview as I have no cloud experience. My suggestion is try working with the cloud before getting a certificate
@@vinays9023 why you want to change to cloud domain? why not your existing skills itself?
Congratulations Dude... We don't know each other; but I'm very proud of you.
Videos like this are so inspiring and this has motivated me to pursuit this career path. I'd love to see more stories like this one from you all in future videos.
Truly inspiring, I think everyone watching this can relate on a deep level.
Congratulation man, and a very big thanks for the motivation.... With this spirit of motivating, I thinks I'm starting the AWS right away
Aw man, truly inspiring! Thank you man ☺️. I'm on my way up to the AWS Architect path. Thank you for posting
It's really motivating us.. Good to see you in the position where you are.. You really deserved man
Best decision I made so far getting this subscription! Looking forward to more years with this platform! Really inspiring story by the way man!
Great job Broadus! A very well done video and story.
I can totally relate and understand as i had to completely change careers at 50 and the journey was rough but well worth its reward.
It's a great video, guys. This man inspires me to do what I do. I believe in myself and hope I'll get a job at AWS as soon as possible)
Very motivating and hope to see more people doing the same!!
Thank you for sharing this... it honestly was verbatim to how I feel about AWS. Never had this feeling and excitement about something. Today I took my first AWS cloud practitioner exam and I failed. It absolutely crushed me, actually had me thinking maybe I can’t do this much like you thought. But I’ve made up my mind that I didn’t come this far to let one exam stop me. It’s back to studying some more and ima take it again in near future.
Don't give up! Take an AWS video course on udemy or on Linux Academy! Watch the whole video list 2-3 times in one month. Download the AWS Overview PDF from the AWS site...about 93 pages. Read it once or twice! And you should be good to pass. Passed it with 860/1000 in about 35 mins or so...I was flying through it. Just follow my advice! When you're smiling after passing...You're welcome! :)
Shari Farmer how are you doing?
You can do it! I believe in you!!!!
This is very inspiring thank you! I just got my first AWS Cert which is the Solutions Architect Associate now I'm creating another plan of action to land a role. Good to hear his hard work payed off! I'll continue to push and be on my way!!
Update?! I'm thinking of following the same path
Inspring!! I just knocked out Casp+ , taking Linux soon. Definitely going to do this as well. Thanks for the motivation!!
Such a beautiful video!! Very inspirational, amazing story.
Goes to show that will power and dedication can make one achieve anything.
Wow! What an awesome story.... 🙌 Congratulations!!
Linux Academy courses helped me get a Linux Administrator job, and I am still learning everyday, thank you Linux Academy team you are awesome.
That's awesome man. Congrats!
Do you mind sharing your career path? What courses / certs did you take?
what certs?
Inspirational! Thank you for sharing your story!
Thanks for the video. I passed Cloud Practitioner w/Linux Academy. Just as I started studying for my Solutions Architect ACloudGuru purchased LA (bummer).
I don't really care for ACG format as I started out with them before switching to LA.
Now I am with Adrian Cantrill (former LA instructor). Keeping my fingers crossed as I will take the exam in a few weeks.
Just my take. If ACG works for you then continue to use them.
I just passed yesterday, so happy
I support linux Academy, thought I'm in a different school of learning ( not doing the college route) but I'm happy for you bro. I'm working same route as you, I'm gonna be a Linux sysadmin/Engineer or AWS cloud engineer after the program and certification keep pushing
#everyday grind
Doesn’t make you feel any better knowing he couldn’t get a real job in AWS and that Linux academy ended up hiring him. What about the people who aren’t selected at Linux academy
Jay Saleh good point.
same thought. I was thinking it is a success story but he basically invested so much money in LinuxAcademy that they just had to take him, overwise it will be an embarrassment for the company, the guy bought that many resources and in the end got nothing
Usually training companies employ the best students. They train thousands every year, so your argument falls flat my friend
Shhh
Getting cloud certs will definitely get you a job. One thing is to consider is that you may need to MOVE to get a job. Most people want the job they want, in the city they are in. Sometimes a small sacrifice to get the job will allow you gain the experience to move wherever you want. Flexibility is key. AWS jobs can often be done remotely as well.
Just that motivation i was looking for , thanks for believing in our dreams
Linux academy had the best and most detailed course especially for Cloud practicioner and Solutions architect. Very detailed that helped a completely non IT guy like me grow interest in Cloud get certified in less than 3 months.. but their recent merger with acloudguru has been very disappointing. Quality contents are replaced by exam driven acloudguru content
I needed to see this. Thank you!
Well done, Brother!!
Wow amazing! I’m definitely inspired 🙏
Very nice story, the interview with Brent is hilarious but thought invoking as well. Guess I have to give LA another closer look this time lol.
I love your passion!
Great video, really motivational!!
Thanks for the motivation!
You have good social skills which is probably number one skill to get a job.... for someone like me i have bachelors degree +5x aws certs +5 years linux engineer experience still cant find a new job. Yet continually amazon spreads misinformation about "cloud skills shortage"
@Ed at this point gave up had many interviews always something they did not like.
Love this guy and this story. Very motivational.
I am a fresher, I need to make my future in AWS, any suggestions what I should do first?( Also I have zero experience)
Great video....really inspirational....superb
Well, sold! Was wondering if it was worth taking up the cert and with linuxacademy..and voila..good job! Thanks!
Always certifications will help your skills upto date along with some hands lab,in my opinion.
so where do i start? what website or link. I want to learn Linux and Aws thanks
So with the AWS and a few other Certifications I don’t have the possess a degree to get a job in this field ??
Broadus good luck brother. Keep going.
Thank you!!
Awesome testimony
100% personally inspiring.
Very motivating
Wow, from a fellow POC, that was truly inspiring. I can't wait to follow in your footsteps.
Any updates?
@@tahntalus yes! I started looking into free education and boot camps. I did a udemy course and was able to get my cloud practitioner certification. After that I started looking into software development and ended up being accepted to ada developers academy in Dec. 2020. I now am an intern at Amazon. 😊
@@leilanidoofy90 wow that's awesome congrats!!! What made you choose udemy over Amazon free cloud practioner course?
How long it takes to take the basic AWS with no IT knowledge or Linux knowledge at all?
Here is my question, are all cloud providers the same basis/structure? What I mean is AWS is service provider. What happens if you study night and day to get cert and when you finally do, you're company changes their mind and goes with Azure instead. Is it all the same, or are all cloud providers different?
This is IT. While there’s overlapping on certain concepts and words, each. Technology is different. It’s the same with Linux vs Windows . Or Cisco routers vs whatever other routers you may think. Each company create their own languages , syntax and rules.
Broadus, thanks for this video. I have some sincere questions for you: why does it seem harder to get an AWS or Cloud job *with* work experience? My work experience is with leading tech companies, but all in marketing. For the life of me, I can't get people to take me seriously with regard to technical skills. I'm sure there are some projects I could build and put on GitHub, but what are they? What is the next step? If I just pile on 3 AWS certs, could that put me over the top? Thanks for sharing your insights.
Getting certs will give you interviews, if you are already working at leading tech companies, start by asking you would like to transfer to a different department to start building experience, the story in this video is to sell you a subscription, it is very difficult to get a job in AWS, Devops without substantial experience, the guy in this video was given an internal supporting job, very different to automating, deploying, scaling applications which require lots of experience as a developer and sysadmin, this cert gives you the bare minimum, the more experience you have in other areas of IT, the more chances you have in getting a devops job.
@@Tux0xFF Yes. Yes and yes. It’s the classic catch 22, you need a job to get the experience and experience to get the job. The only thing you can do is to create a project in the field you are interested in. The guy in this video is getting the needed experience.
how can i get AWS job without a degree??? can i ? if can, i like to know the steps thanks 🙏 ?
Salute bro
Which programming required for AWS certification?
Start with AWS Practitioner.
Most of the comments on this video seem staged, like created be the same advertising, besides, the video does not tell you HOW to get a job with no experience !!!!
Get the certs.
I'm inspired.
So does it mean I can start learning AWS straight up with no professional experience in any IT field at all. Well I know some CCNA knowledge but don’t have the cert.
Having networking knowledge,I recommend going with aws sys admin or network specialist certifications.
@@srinimaram -If you're going to recommend a certification, how about writing the exact name of the certification?
Can one work remotely with AWS?
good job bro
What is the duration for AWS solution architect certification course?
@@linuxacademysupport1878 i am looking to do an associate level certification, currently i am working as an system administrator, looking to move into cloud technology.
Is it possible to switch my domain from system admin to AWS Solution architect with no hands on experience in AWS
@@mohammedsuheal6135 this is exactly what I'm trying to do as well. have you had any recent luck or still working as sys admin? had any chance to play with AWS on your own?
@@linuxacademysupport1878 i can get my feet wet with water🤣
I cannot sign up to the linux Academy. When i click on www.linuxacademy.com, it takes me to acloudguru.com/ Is it the same thing?
Yes AcloudGuru recently acquired Linux academy so it's one company now.
Reminds me of Theo Huxtable
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
the hardest job to get in any area of IT is your first one because just about every job wants some experience which of course is a catch22 when your starting out. Many years ago , I worked for free for a company for 6 months to get my first job and that enabled me then to get my foot in the door and get better jobs. That's not an option for everyone of course but if your young and don't have a lot fo expenses it is a good option.
@@linuxacademysupport1878 well the more knowledge you have the better of course! Do you happen to know when the discounted membership offer is going to start? - I saw it talked about in the last update video.
@@linuxacademysupport1878 yes , he replied to me in his video with the confirmatio. Ill be signing up tomorrow. Thanks!
A lot of people should relate to this content. A good story❕ Didn't #acloudguru buy out #LinuxAcademy? That would be a best of both worlds. Competitors beware.
Very motivating video
just started preparing for AWS CCP , I hope to get a AWS job someday :(
how did it go?
lol ,little girl reminds me of me... lol reddish hair and happy bubbly... super cute !!!
Look this dudes LinkedIn up. He’s a cloud hustler. Only real cloud position was a 3 month internship. Since then he just sells the cloud dream. And if this is the best zero experience story Linux academy can showcase that tells a lot. These certs are just a small piece of the pie.
Has any one hit the point where, they're doing the work but are just not finding the jobs? The only thing I can think of is just keep grinding, and just keep learning. It just feels bad that even though you did ALOT of work to get here, there still ALOT more required for the job...
november i start aws finishing linux system admin first
That's awesome! Give us a shout out in the community once you've completed it. We always love knowing when one of our students completes a course!
Great work Palmer! I'm inspired now to continue going through several LA courses I place in the back burner..
So a year later where ere you at?
Maybe I'm reading this wrong, but it sounds to me like the guy, after three certifications, still wasn't able to get a job and got hired by the place he was paying to learn at. Not very encouraging. And he never said what he was getting paid, either. I'm guessing it's not much.
........................... nuff said
Man obviously knew someone at the linux acadamy and passed those courses for the job he was offered beforehand. Must think we were all born yesterday Broadus thanks for wasting my time with your not to clever sales pitch
Love the conflicts of interest here and the neatly trimmed comments section. I'm inspired! (Sarcasm; this is not a good case study for your product because it doesn't take a genius to tell that you're the one that gave him his job, and that he couldn't actually get a job in the real marketplace doing what you supposedly trained him to do with the education you provided him. All you are accomplishing with this kind of cheap marketing is weeding out all the would-be great customers who might actually end up having a real success story in the real world. You'd be much better off, especially in the long run, being honest with people about what it actually takes to get that kind of job, and explaining to people that you offer all of those tools and maybe some coaching along the way to get them there. Then your company would look like an expert in the field who intends to enrich the field, instead of just another snake oil salesman taking advantage of people who just don't know any better. Those people who are actually depending on you to help them. And all you're doing is taking their money. This is making you look incredibly untrustworthy.)
I'm in no way affiliated with Linux Academy, however, just getting an AWS cert you can find a job working as a Jr. Cloud Consultant, Jr. DevOps, etc. Cloud is a hot field right now with not enough people trying to move into it. It's the problem with IT in general, narrow feeder pipeline of only so many help desk jobs and a wide range of jobs requiring more experience. Certifications can help wave away some of the experience requirements. So, I'm not sure why you decided this is all snake oil. It's no different than a person learning how to program!
Definitely i recommend getting certified with one of the cloud providers. It will help you in keeping skills uptodate.
@@linuxacademysupport1878 I appreciate your video, but I think salvataz is saying something that would be good to look into because an example showing someone who got hired in another top producing company would be good to see.
Great commercial -
> Talks about learning AWS through Linux Academy
> Uses a Mac
...wat...
182000 jobs thats a lot of jobs
yeah this is a real guy an non an actor lol
With uncertain times these days Linux academy should make their service for free not only 30 day free trial it takes longer than 30 days to prepare for these certs. If you don't have a job no one is going to pay the monthly subscription and will looks for others resources that are free.
Abe ye tumare desho me hota kya
