I heard an old wise man say....If they open the old clubs back up and played this style of music that it would change the mindset of America. The belief is the music and the message will make others feel GOOD and move forward through anything in their LIVES. Just to EXPERIENCE THESE DAYS AGAIN#
As a child of the 80's watching WTBS Night Tracks, Friday Night Videos, Video Soul, Radio 1990, and all of the video shows before every cable company finally started carrying MTV I remember Colonel Abrams being one of the ones who inspired me and being the reason why I was blessed to be a career musician.
This was a Bad Brother. His style set the Club on FIRE. I play this music frequently. Colonel Abrams. Yes Sir. Players and Hustlers know this game. Youngsters take notes and learn something about romancing a Queen.
3:26 that really really hits home. When you realize something you love doesn't exist no more or things won't ever be the same. This guy was awesome and this songs still kicks
To know he was homeless on the streets of NYC before he passed makes me so sad. I loved his music. I hate how the music industry makes these artist then breaks them, and not help them to invest for after they throw them away. Artist are better off working for themselves in clubs, and private shows. R.i.p! Colonel Abrams.
True story here we were a dance group based in London uk and in 1985 we were hired to dance for colonel abrams on the tube show which was a live show every Friday up in Newcastle on channel 4 I think it was, unfortunately, we were held up in traffic and by the time we arrived he had already performed and left the building we were so gutted, this is the first time I have heard of his passing and I'm upset knowing he spent his last years in misery how did a man so talented and handsome end up homeless how??
I've felt IN love WITH him in 1989. God bless the person who introduced me to his album.... AND. IT'S GOING TO BE WITH ME FOREVERMORE....(RIP) U LOVE YOU
NYCEnforcer I wish we could start this up again, where we people went out and smiled and liked to dance to artist who could sing, had originality, played real instruments and people actually dressed nice. We need to get this real soulful house music thing started again in the states; Europe already is on it and been on it (cub Music forever). I like Hip hop (but it is simply unattractive to me for the pass 10 years) don't get me wrong but this music will always be in my heart and soul.
When I first heard Colonel Abrams, he sound like Teddy Pendergrass. When my grandmother heard him sing for the first time, she claimed that he was a teddy Pendergrass wannabe. My mother had a tape of that album with this track on here. Both my mother and grandmother has gone on. Rest in peace Colonel Abrams. By the way, this all took place when I was a little girl. My favorite song from that same album is nameless.
Unique style...vocals/dance epic club music that sounds bombastic in the right place. Sorry that Mr.Abrams suffered in his final years...rest peacefully brother man.
We're all missin' you Colonel Abrams, and we haven't forgot, how good your music made/makes us all feel, no more suffering on this earth, for you to endure, R.I.P. eternally, for your rest, is well deserved...
Wow.......he was extraordinary. Beautiful man! Truly one of the greatest musicians ever to walk on earth. Rip baby boy. I love Colonel Abrams brought a lot of joy to me.
My Pops built a big club down in our basement for my Mom and us kids because we loved music and dancing so much and parties were on at our home every Friday and Weekends and I swear anytime my Pops put on house music it was hours of dancing and sweating. RIP Colonel, Pops and Mom. I miss the 80s so much. Fun times!!!
Super fine. I was raised on Motown and the Girls' Groups of the early 60's. The Colonel's classic. Still lovin' this sound in 2015. Flashback to '40s Harlem was also a touch of production genius.
I been on a spree since he passed. I can't say he is thee house music pioneer but he's def one of the first if not thee first that I remember having that sound. It wasn't just regular club music it was it was a different sound...
What set him apart from others during the explosion of black club/house music was his smooth r&b touch and his great songwriting skills. In the mid 1980's, he was often compared to Teddy Pendergrass.
+Venu337 ROFL Well Bobby Schmurda is in jail and there's njo way in hell we could dance off of the crap that's out today like we did back in the days LOL
I toss and turn at night, wondering what to do You're like a stranger with a different attitude So for the last time, please don't make me beg you to stay I know I'll always love you, love you anyway(I need you) Need you ('Cause I'm missing you) 'Cause I'm missing you (I'm missing you)

It’s a very volatile and exploitative industry and most people are very fickle when it comes to music.
You're so right! I saw him before he passed away downtown btwn 46 nd 7th ave. He was in wheelchair. I wept.
Wow...this makes me sad.

That was actually the follow-up single off the same album, but that didn’t do nearly as well as this song, even with the urban market.
@@RocStarr913 no wonder why I never heard it on the radio. I have heard this one often. Specially on video soul.
