Or a team of morally dubious devs not caring if they put out a finished product because they're certain they can patch, update or just leave it as is without much problem.

@@REAPER3fitty I mean there is a lot more work behind the scenes that contribute to a game’s quality. It’s not always only because the devs are bad at their jobs. I don’t know man. That’s not some failed passion project of a few indie devs. This franchise has money, they decided to go ultra cheap on development. Maybe it was frustrating for some of the devs that love the franchise but they got their pay and move on to the next thing.
The character model looks like it was made back in the early 2000s and scrapped because of how bad it looked, and they finally brought it off the shelf, put it through an image sharpening program and called it a day.

@@Jeren6924 at least Hogwarts Legacy has the excuse of being a big ass open world RPG kinda game with lots of side missions that require the use of limited real time dialogue cutscenes to actually come out on time, this game is like a linear 8/12 hour long game and they can't even make the fully scripted cutscenes look good, the scene where Gollum falls back after the explosion before seeing Sauron is embarrassingly amateur looking.
That or when the deliberately hide characters faces so they don't have to do lip syncing whatsoever. Or when they don't show the action being done, like putting text over, using freeze frames (Redfall/Babylon's fall), or move the camera so you can't see it. Or when they use a back and forth during a cutscenes with both characters awkwardly just standing there lifelessly. It's been really egregious how obvious a lot of these cheap-outs on animations have been in recent years.
Probably has more to do with bad technical animation. You usually automatically blend between expressions using code as you move from one to another, but they just aren’t blending it smoothly.
I can't stop giggling at the Game Over screens. The shot where Gollum just decides to fall flat to the ground and die even before the blast goes off is downright hilarious.
Gotta love this peak modern gameplay with exciting features like: - climbing around on yellow painted cliffs - holding forward while listening to dialogue - slogging through obligatory stealth sections - solving random "puzzles" once in a while Other games like this at least also include nice combat mechanics and rpg elements. Without this this game seems like a pure snooze fest. Also, the heck is up with the animations sometimes? Like when he climbs a ladder it looks like the animation skips a few frames all the time.
Shadow's of morodor and war were fucking peak lord of the rings game. Fun combat. fun stealth. Interesting story and protagonists. And the orc system was awesome. I loved learning a warlords weakness and planning how would strike and kill him. This is just such a sad waste of a game in comparison.

Man you lot are really spoiled. You’d be lucky to have a game you bought at the local shop work on your computer any more than 50% of the time. Games are now almost guaranteed to work on whatever computer or console you run them on, even if they run badly on first release. At least you’re gonna be able to get a patch rolled out relatively easily and for free within a day or 2 after launch that you can download rather than having to send off for a CD or floppy disk with the patch, or having to shut down your home phone line for hours as you wait for a patch to download over the dial-up. The problem isn’t that of the developers, its a problem with the economic system and the financing of the game industry. They rely on pre-orders and release-day purchases to be able to keep up work operations to be able to fix the game, otherwise they’d lose so much money and confidence from investors just keeping the studio running day to day and development ongoing that there’d be no game released at all, let alone a future for the studio developing it.

Daedalic Entertainment, a German developer with a strong focus on adventure games, is responsible for the game. While they have produced notable titles such as the "Deponia" series and "Edna & Harvey," it's worth noting that they are not a AAA studio. They have often worked with IPs like "The Dark Eye," a German pen and paper role-playing game. However, it seems that tackling the Lord of the Rings IP might have been too big of an IP for them.

I always feel a little bad when this happens. I always imagine a team of developers working hard and making the best game they possibly can only to have everyone hate it.

@@Jeren6924 I think that’s the game I was thinking of that I played recently. Mainly because the rest of the graphics were very good, it stood out.
Or when they use a back and forth during a cutscenes with both characters awkwardly just standing there lifelessly.

what do you mean “our”? I’m not purchasing this shit
