A lot of the reason for the additional parts included with obscure G1 references and the extreme detail is the fact that the engineers on the design team for masterpiece figures were put in charge of the Earthrise line. That's a good portion of the reason for masterpiece level figures at supermarket prices and the terrible direction masterpiece figures have taken.
That actually makes a lot of sense
If we get lovely toys at a price that doesn't make me clench up as I click 'confirm purchase' then I'm down with it. ^_^

Someones probably already mentioned this but Cliffjumper actually has another head joint which frees up his head clearance a bit more and allows him to look up a tiny bit more and down a whole lot more, also the black hinged piece at the end of the gun can attach to his shoulder via the rectangular hole, although im not sure how much better it looks than the secret 3rd juice box mode

@@skullboipop when you transform the chest see the pin that holds on the hood that folds away? Well that has another joint attached that moves the head more if you just pull on the head a bit you should be able to find it

Megatron getting shot and flying backwards was really clean, excellent work as always
I tried a new effect where I left the shutter open for a bit longer and moved the figure during that time to add a blur effect. I'm quite happy how it turned out honestly

It really is funny how Hasbro or Takara will sometimes go,

I figured you'd make a joke about the pilot given that bazooka.
I think the Problem is whenever I hear people say "legends sized" They're confusing Height with Mass, he certainly is about the height of legends, but his weight falls into the deluxe category, most of the Siege-onward figures are shorter than they would have been previously, but take them compare their weights with a previous version of the character/size class, and you'll find the wights to be about the same, and in some cases the Siege figures will weigh more
Hey! Quit weight shaming transformers, some of them just have a bit of extra scrap metal on them thats all!
Even for how small this figure is, I'm okay paying $20 :)
Edit: Can I just say this? I know you get this a lot, but you are a MASTER of stop motion. You may not have high frame rate, or the most fancy backgrounds, but one thing you have over all other stop motion RUclipsrs is the *expressiveness* of your animation! Everything feels so lively and natural! Nothing's choppy, out of sync, or even bland! What you do makes me smile every time. And I can't thank you enough for that!

I believe that Cliffjumper is based on the 80's Dodge Conquest OR Mitsubishi Starion which looked very similar to the Porsche you referenced. These cars predate the Mitsubishi Eclipse/Eagle Talon/Plymouth Laser...BUT...I could be wrong.

When you put cliffjumper next to a legends figure, you can see where the extra money went. He is a DELUXE figure.
Now I want all my legends figures redone because they look like crap next to Cliff.
I care not for the price, he's pretty much masterpiece material for me

This is my favorite figure of the year so far. I adore its bot mode and vehicle mode, it's the best vehicle mode I own (beating out siege mirage ironically).
I must say $20 in the US is much more palatable than $30 CA. If official US price ever get that high I would have to rethink my hobby.
Its really the amount of plastic, cliffjumper has a deluxe amount of plastic in his accessories, so spending a bit more ao he has his cannon and jetskis os ok to me

Is it weird that I don’t completely mind there being two Autobot symbols like that on that Cliffjumper? It’s probably because I’ve seen a bit too many G1 figures with the rub signs hastily slapped on them.
But still, nice review on a nicely done figure. And those custom touch ups are nice as well.
In all honesty, ER Cliffjumper has become the poster child for the best and worst aspects of Earthrise. The figure boasts impressive articulation and balance for his size (he’s pretty close to MP 1.0. Bee in that regard), his headsculpt is to die for, and his alternate mode (as Lazy said) is extremely well-done. That being said, his partsforming to achieve toon-accuracy is a sin that I simply can’t forgive. At least this guy and ER Megatron actually transform (unlike a certain pink waste of plastic that I won’t name here) most of the way there.
Earthrise did a lot right, but it also set an unfortunate standard of toon-accuracy taking priority over good aesthetics and smart design. For some collectors, that’s a good thing. They don’t have to drop hundreds of dollars on 3rd party stuff because Hasbro is finally making the toys they always wanted as kids. (Unless we’re talking about Unicron)
But look at how Masterpiece has been since it switched to hyper-toon-accuracy. Overcomplicated, frustrating transformations, cheaty engineering to achieve accuracy to a cartoon that couldn’t keep itself consistent with how characters transformed, and heavy prices to pay for figures you don’t know the QC issues of until you open the box. It’s a mess.
I would rather Hasbro reinvent these characters whilst maintaining their core essence than continue to slavishly replicate the stylings of a 40-year-old inconsistently-drawn cartoon. The G1 toon designs have been given the best treatment they’ve had in years; let them rest for a bit. Imagine character reimaginings that take Siege-level engineering and combine them with the flexibility and creativity of the Classics/Universe/early Generations designs.
-Prowl as an American cop car
-Freightliner Argosy Optimus (Cyberverse through a Uniclasserations filter)
-modern car versions of the classic Autobot cars
-characters from the comics/comic designs for classic characters
-more experimental Cybertronian alt-modes that aren’t just cyberpunk versions of the G1 casts’s alt-modes
-CHUG Rescue Bots

Honestly, this comment from 2022 me has aged surprisingly well. We've been getting comic characters (just not the ones I expected, I'm still waiting for my Marvel Blaster and Scrounge 2-pack) and Hasbro seems to be winding down the G1 remake train now that they've "perfected" so many characters' Sunbow appearances. If 2027 is a clean break from what came before and we can get the rest of what I hoped for then, then I can die happy.
Also, IDW Hot Rod and Animated Megatron. The second those two get good figures in Generations, I can call it quits.

That transformation after the commercial was stunning.
I'm impressed with it myself. going into this I was genuinely puzzled and slightly worried how I was going to do a transformation cheat considering the way it inside outs inself during the transformation. but man it might just be my favourite animation I've ever done now

at first I was like ''yo WTF'' when I saw cliffjumper and Arcee's huge partsforming Vehicle parts. then I saw Mp Arcee and her messy, huge kibbly back. they will do partsforming only if necessary due to the size, kibble and complexity of the toy, and will play it as a shield + having storage on the back of the figure. honestly I'm fine with it, I would prefer it without it but the old arcee (and every female Autobot ever) has huge backpacks that just look ugly.

Okay as I was watching this I was thinking he can't be that good but wow he really lives up to the hype! He may be tiny compared to his wavemates but the amount of detail on him is phenominal!
His accessories are so fun too and his robot mode is PERFECT. I do wish he had a chest Autobot sticker but I'll wait for the toyhax set to fix that up. Just wondering if you heard of KBB Agents Hornet? I got him a couple of weeks ago and he scales really nicely with Cliffjumper in robot mode at least.
In another world, a slightly larger version of this figure exists where he pairs with the original [and only necessary] MP-Bee. And he enjoys pointing out his articulated wrists to an envious Beetle counterpart.

Oh, and before you complain “oh he meant G1 tho!” Alternity Cliff. It’s G1 Cliffjumper, alternity takes place in the Japanese G1 continuity, and there was no Alternity version of bee. *so shush*
As a non-car person (but one who has friends who are), the explanation for the breaks really just seems perfect for the trigger-happy hothead that is Cliffjumper

This was my first earthrise figure and he’s also my favorite character so I’m glad that he isn’t a bee repaint I feel a retool is coming but this is the so far DEFINITIVE G1 style Cliffjumper you can’t change my mind this thing has a great throwback to a scene that’s a one off and it’s amazing I love it can’t change my mind on this I love the toy of my favorite character it’s amazing

Next time I want to show someone your work, I’m showing them this video. The animation was CLEAN (like holy cow Megatron flying across the screen looks good), the jokes pretty funny, and you convinced me Cliffjumper is a worthwhile figure (eventually, since SS Mixmaster just entered my life).

Nice review dude! I’m really happy with Cliffjumper as well despite the $30 price tag especially when I bought Hoist along with him haha but once out of package, I was impressed. Its too bad the Cliff209 skit didn’t work out for you but hopefully it can be a back burner idea for ya in the future.

Just this past Sunday I picked up a Cliffjumper & yeah that was pricey $21. I keep it in the box as a collector & it was a pleasure to watch review. I am a kid from the 1980s as my name appears in the Marvel T.F. comicbook issue #45 in the back of the issue on the Bot-Shingo results as an entry from Colorado. This is a great toy for your great video. 🚗 🎥
100% agree on all counts. I pre-ordered one; it got delayed, and I saw it in my local (Canadian) Wal-mart the day before they were to be officially released, bought it and have no regrets. Great review btw.
