You can call the cops on them for harassing you while fishing. There are laws in some places that specifically apply to such behaviors (hunting and fishing harassment). Sure, those laws are intended to stop activists from getting people to hunt or fish but how do we know she isn't one of them who has a gripe about him taking fish? An investigation can be made and she can be charged with disorderly conduct for her behavior if it doesn't meet the definitions of those laws.
My father went through something similar. The home was located on a cove. The homeowner tried to claim he owned from the 2 points inward. My father told him, where the water begins your property ends.
When I was growing up if you saw someone fishing you'd ask "catching anything?", or "are they biting?". Nowadays, there's so many people that make me miss my parents and grandparents because they raised me to be considerate and respectful of others. Some people just can't stand seeing someone enjoy life, instead they project their own misery.
This is a symptom of a much bigger problem. Have you noticed the amount of people who just cant help, but to jump into someone else's buisness has gotten higher these days? A lot of people seem to not be happy unless they are somehow in control over another person's life. Dont do this, dont own this, dont swim here, dont fish here, dont walk your dog here, etc. Bottom line is people just need to go back to minding their own buisness. Goes for politics too. Everyone needs to mind their own buisness. I guarantee you it would get better around here

I used to work for a lobster fisherman who fished near shore. He once told me that people used to call and complain that the lobster buoys were an eyesore. This was back around 2000. Karens are timeless.

Same thing happened to me this past summer. I was fishing waist deep in a pond(a PUBLIC POND). A textbook Karen comes out of her house and says I'm in her water on her side of the water. I ignored her and her 15 minutes of Karen-rant. Karma was on my side that day. She calls the cops on me. So, the cops come and I watch them talk to her, then begin to talk louder and louder at her explaining that she doesn't own the pond, nor does she own a section of the water.

Actually there was a violation, at least in most states. It is illegal to interfere or harass a person that is fishing (so long as they aren't violating any law.) It wouldn't be worth bothering a cop or warden about but if Karen called the cops I'd be sure to ask them about the regulation that prohibits interference with fishing.

We have a man-made lake in our subdivision and every year hundreds of ducks come looking for warmer lands. One of the neighbors feed them and some others pitch in to buy their food. One of these ladies was trying to get the cops to make him to stop feeding them and to remove the ducks, because they were invading our property. They just laugh and left; she called Wild Life (whatever) agency and she was told that they were a protected specie. This past spring, about 20-25 ducks decided to move permanently and they are now locals. We never heard from her again .
Usually, after the first sentence following the Karen’s decision to speak, Saying “don’t fucking bother me” without looking at them, and then acting like they aren’t there, has so far had a 100% success rate in making karen storm off immediately

This is great. As a lake property owner, i had the opposite experience. I was on my raft with kids and a boat started fishing under the raft. I simply and politely asked for space and they freaked out. Even reported me for fisherman’s harassment. They treated me like I was this Karen claiming to own the lake. I love your kind and calm. A good reminder to all anglers that common courtesy goes both ways. Yes- it’s legal to fish there. Yes. It’s legal even though we were swimming. But it’s also within my purview to ask for courtesy. People are bizarre.

We had a lady like this on my farm growing up. We owned all the water rights through a large area, including her area. She would cause such an issue because locals would float rafts and inner tubes through our land and hers. What she had a hard time realizing is the public owns the water. My parents flexed her with our water rights and cutting off her farm if she continues harassing the kids floating the river. Last we ever heard of the Karen.
River by my house floods really bad every spring... Some people don't understand that in some areas when you buy land in a flood plain, the "land" below the water isn't yours if the water makes it navigable.
I am actually interested to know what state you live in, as far as I know no states allow the actual owning of flowing water over land. So by you threatening to cut off actual flowing surface water, I think you were mistaken. I also believe that altering flowing water like a creek, you need special permits. If you would have cut it off, I am pretty sure she had grounds to sue over it, and in court I highly doubt that "oh she was a Karen" would hold any kind of weight. So what state are you from again?

I used to own a lake cottage and I gotta say, it feels like an invasion when people are fishing right in front of your house. It’s kind of like someone being in your backyard (of a non-lake home). I never said anything because I know it’s their right, and I’m a fisherman too…. I’m just sayin…. Not many people do it and they usually only stick around a few minutes.
I love having this problem. Next time offer beer and ask how the weather is, see if they have a good fish fry recipe, and ask if they know any good spots around the lake. With the right tone and offer, they'll damn near jump at the chance to feed you what they catch. We can make friends while keeping vigilance.
I don’t know where this takes place but I live on a lake in Michigan and we have what they call riparian rights. So in this situation, we would own that part of the water.

I actually had a guy throw rocks at me on Lake Winnepesaukee in Melvin bay in Moultonboro NH, he called the sherriff, when he got there I reminded the sherriff of the anti harrasment law NH has, and the guy was arrested, they wanted me to show up to court to testify, the problem was the date was opening day of hunting season, i declined because I knew he would get off anyway. I hope he learned a lesson though.

Dad's mother's house and I was fishing in the canal. She would not leave me alone I had about 25 or 30 croppy blue Gill combination pandfish. Yes, she got mad about it. She called the sheriff on me. The sheriff showed up walked out on the ice. Asked me what was going on and he knew my stepdad. He knew her mother and he new my mother. So if she's wrong I'm gonna call a conservation officer out. Cause I don't know nothing about the amount of fish. You're allowed to have conservation officer, come out. Ask me for my fish license.Check my license.We counted the fish.He walked over to the lady and wrote her ticket for harassing a legal fishermen. She never did it again

Actually there was a violation, at least in most states. It is illegal to interfere or harass a person that is fishing (so long as they aren't violating any law.) It wouldn't be worth bothering a cop or warden about but if Karen called the cops I'd be sure to ask them about the regulation that prohibits interference with fishing.
Glad you held your ground. She's the type that always gets her way by force or sheer ugliness. It just enables her for people to comply to her demands.
We have a man-made lake in our subdivision and every year hundreds of ducks come looking for warmer lands. One of the neighbors feed them and some others pitch in to buy their food. One of these ladies was trying to get the cops to make him to stop feeding them and to remove the ducks, because they were invading our property. They just laugh and left; she called Wild Life (whatever) agency and she was told that they were a protected specie. This past spring, about 20-25 ducks decided to move permanently and they are now locals. We never heard from her again .
People like her are why I love my dog.

This is great. As a lake property owner, i had the opposite experience. I was on my raft with kids and a boat started fishing under the raft. I simply and politely asked for space and they freaked out. Even reported me for fisherman’s harassment. They treated me like I was this Karen claiming to own the lake. I love your kind and calm. A good reminder to all anglers that common courtesy goes both ways.

We had a lady like this on my farm growing up. We owned all the water rights through a large area, including her area. She would cause such an issue because locals would float rafts and inner tubes through our land and hers. What she had a hard time realizing is the public owns the water. My parents flexed her with our water rights and cutting off her farm if she continues harassing the kids floating the river. Last we ever heard of the Karen.
River by my house floods really bad every spring... Some people don't understand that in some areas when you buy land in a flood plain, the "land" below the water isn't yours if the water makes it navigable.
I am actually interested to know what state you live in, as far as I know no states allow the actual owning of flowing water over land. So by you threatening to cut off actual flowing surface water, I think you were mistaken. I also believe that altering flowing water like a creek, you need special permits. If you would have cut it off, I am pretty sure she had grounds to sue over it, and in court I highly doubt that "oh she was a Karen" would hold any kind of weight. So what state are you from again?

I used to own a lake cottage and I gotta say, it feels like an invasion when people are fishing right in front of your house. It’s kind of like someone being in your backyard (of a non-lake home). I never said anything because I know it’s their right, and I’m a fisherman too…. I’m just sayin…. Not many people do it and they usually only stick around a few minutes.
I love having this problem. Next time offer beer and ask how the weather is, see if they have a good fish fry recipe, and ask if they know any good spots around the lake. With the right tone and offer, they'll damn near jump at the chance to feed you what they catch.
We can make friends while keeping vigilance.
I don’t know where this takes place but I live on a lake in Michigan and we have what they call riparian rights. So in this situation, we would own that part of the water.

I actually had a guy throw rocks at me on Lake Winnepesaukee in Melvin bay in Moultonboro NH, he called the sherriff, when he got there I reminded the sherriff of the anti harrasment law NH has, and the guy was arrested, they wanted me to show up to court to testify, the problem was the date was opening day of hunting season, i declined because I knew he would get off anyway. I hope he learned a lesson though.
