    For the longest time I've struggled with my black repertoire, both against e4 but especially d4! Not only did I struggle but I actively disliked the positions I was getting.
    As soon as I found your videos I started to really enjoy playing as Black, the Modern Benoni defense, the Petrov video you made based off of Fabiano Caruana as well as against the two knights.
    These have become some of my favorite openings as well as my favorite videos to use for study! Thank you so much for the amazing work you put into your videos and even giving solid concrete ideas and plans to use after the opening moves. Actually enjoying Black has made chess a lot more fun for me, to the point I will opt to play Black more often just so I can keep learning.

    Great channel! I really like the Benoni but only when Nf3 is played before f4. Many lines of the Benoni play f4 first and it’s a totally different game. I play the Nimzo to d4 but if white plays Nf3 instead of Nc3 I can go for the Benoni or Queens Indian. You offer some very interesting concepts that I will certainly try out. Regarding your video on the KID it would be wonderful to see more on that since 6:47 really isn’t enough time to cover all the options available for white to choose from that could get the KID practitioner in lots of trouble very quickly. I’m using many of your openings and they have added loads of fun to my chess. Saw you on coffee chess and it was a hoot! That’s a great channel too.

    • @TheChessGiant
      @TheChessGiant  3 года назад

      Thanks Stephen, let me know how the concepts work out for you! I can tell you know the game well, and thanks for the ideas on more content especially pertaining to the King's Indian Defense. We made that video on the King's Indian Defense but it was pretty short. When I first started making these videos, I didn't go into as much depth. Just like I made two Queen's Gambit videos (the second being longer) I might just have to do that for the King's Indian Defense as well. Thanks for the reminder.

    14:45 why was the rook not taken?

    • @TheChessGiant
      @TheChessGiant  Год назад

      Great question! I shouldv'e touched on this. So basically if we take the rook I believe the black queen will be trapped against Bg5. That is why we need to get rid of the bishop. Of course, Qh5 could be played, but then g4 is seen and our queen is simply done. Hope this helps!

    The Modern Benoni is a fantastic club-level defence, and part of the reason is that white's plus after a couple dozen theory-strength moves by both players is more plump than other defences so guys are already inventing their own plans after the first or second tabiya.
    I ended up a Modern Benoni player after finding out how much I like it IN PRACTICE. I had been assuming that it was just an opening experiment at first, but it didn't take long to realise that it was becoming my favourite.
    Show them what Mikhail Tal liked so much about the Benoni!

      A fun little chess opening trap against the London is 1. d4 Nf6 2. Bf4 c6 3. Bf4 g5 4. Bxg5 Qa5+! and we win a piece! If the bishop does not take the pawn we have some space on the kingside and have created a huge imbalance in the position.

    Hi solomon big fan here had a query about chess. So i started chess last year and now I am 1020 rated fide how do i get up the rating ladder like by doing puzzles or learn endgames. Anyway big fan as always

    • @TheChessGiant
      @TheChessGiant  2 года назад

      Hey Shlok! Great question! I would start off by making sure you have a solid opening repertoire. Something that fits your style of play. From this point tactics are HUGE. If you really focus in on puzzles (random puzzles, meaning not puzzles where you are told it's a mate in 3 or are told it's winning material) you will find rapid improvement. Learning the foundations of the endgame is a great building block to improve the rest of your chess. And, having a coach analyze your games is also very helpful. That way you can start to learn common mistakes you make in addition to things you do well. Hope this helps!

    • @TheChessGiant
      @TheChessGiant  Год назад +1

      Great question! They could but it only helps black, because we can continue with a move like Nxc3 and yet again the bishop on b5 is undefended. We also attack the queen now, and have both queen + bishop defending the knight. White here is simply lost. Hope this helps!
