- Monteverde is one of Costa Rica’s most famous ecotourism destinations. In this video I'm exploring the amazing cloud forests and hanging bridges of Monteverde, and a whole lot more!
The area around Monteverde has been inhabited since before 3000 BC, but it didn't really become a tourist destination until the 1980s. That's when people started flocking to the well-preserved rainforest conservations, such as the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve.
The Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve has its roots in the 1950s, when American Quakers settled in Monteverde and set aside land for conservation. Today it attracts more than 70 000 ecotourists every year, and this is one of Costa Rica's most famous destinations - despite being quite remote.
I also explore the town of Santa Elena, and other activities in the Monteverde area - such as a visit to the Bat Jungle, a combined bat exhibit and museum where you can learn a lot about bats, and a night tour in the rainforest. I also take a trip to the Selvatura hanging bridges, and also check out the sloth sanctuary and a reptile exhibit.
Come along as I show you the best things to see and do in Monteverde, and tell you of its interesting history!

Great video with fresh sense of humor!! Just the right amount of information and enough footage to give me an idea of what to look forward to.
Thank you so much! That was what I was hoping to achieve - really happy to hear that :D
Lk7 👍, wow you have travelled some distance to get here, a great share, with information interestingly shared. New places are great to share, very well done. Stay blessed and safe, your friend Traveller MIA 🇬🇧

Thank you so much! Much appreciated! :D
Looks like you have been getting around traveling quite a bit. I am jealous, I haven't been able to do a lot of traveling the last couple years except closer to home. Have never been here so thanks for showing us around. Great video. Take care!
Thank you so much! :) Yeah, I booked my trip just before omicron broke out, so I was a bit...uncertain about whether or not it was a good idea to travel. But it all worked out in the end, and Costa Rica was truly spectacular! I hope you get to travel some more soon...
Just catching up on your videos. Cloud forest looks lovely. I'd be skipping on the tarantulas too.
It's been a busy time lately right? But yeah the place was lovely even though I had to be wary of spiders. Especially on a night tour...
@@ThreeStarVagabond yeah we've had a horrible few weeks with everything that's happened with the dog 😢
Needed cheering up so put a few of your videos on.
@@continentalcoxons Man, I can't even begin to understand how it all must feel right now... But hang in there! :/
@@ThreeStarVagabond we will get there, just take some time. House is so quiet.
@@continentalcoxons Yeah, just let it take some time now. It will get better though!
This is really great. Thank you ⚘
Thank you so much! 😀
Good informative vid! What is the difference between Salvatura park and Cloud Forest? Which park would you recommend if you are pressed for time? Thank you
Thank you! So, there are many different cloud forest parks in the area, and Salvatura is just one of them. I would say that if you're pressed for time, simply see what your hotel can arrange - that might not be the cheapest option, but it's likely the fastest and most convenient way to make it happen.
Thank you🙏
Bat-ucaded! 🤣🤣🤣
Haha! I had even more bat puns that I cut out, about the bat biologist (bat-ologist?) running the place...
@@ThreeStarVagabond I was looking for a reply but it was to hard in English... had some great ones in Dutch though...
@@arewethereyet000 Close enough to Swedish to be understood I believe :D
Raccoons?I dont think so.Coatis.

It was really nice to see something other than cold Swedish landscapes for once. Thank you so much, and hope you're having a great time now :)
