I don’t know if anyone has noticed but he was one of the best players of late cut too, I remember him playing it against spin in a lot of his innings. This shows the amount of time he possessed, as that shot is one of the most difficult ones to play. What a great player he was🫡
One of the brutal cricketer of all time 🏏🥊🏏 Powerful batsmen, a good bowler and a tremendously magnificent Fielder.. If u are looking for a true Soldier who would do anything to win the battle he's the one to go to. RIP Legend 💐💐💐
Still remember is brutal 143 vs Pakistan at 2003 world cup. Completely changed the game, pakistan were on top then he took it to the great bowling lineup which included Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Shoaib Akhtar
His presence in that team, just made them more invincible. Martyn, Lehmann, Symonds...later on Clarke, Watson just was extraordinary to see the teamsheet itself... That is Australia...a team with match winners everywhere and out of nowhere sometimes.... remember Bichel vs ENG 2003. Anyway, R.I.P Roy, just a great match winner and a extraordinary cricketing personality.
This was a rare occasion when Martyn, Lehmann, Symonds, Clarke & Watson were all in the same XI. Only happened in 7 matches in exactly 5 months (4/09/04 - 04/02/05). Australia won 5, lost 1 with 2 balls remaining, and 1 washed out (albeit with Australia seemingly destined to lose)
The fact Australia had haydos, gilly and Ponting in 1 team was terrifying. The fact symonds was still the best 1 day batsman in that team shows how amazing he was. RIP legend.
Also the only reason symonds isn’t the greatest alrounder ever is because the Australian cricket board rolled over like weak hearted dogs when he was racially abused by the Indians
Arguably the world MVP in limited overs cricket in the mid 2000's, brutal batting, electrifying fielding in virtually any position and could bowl mediums or offies. Brought thousands of Aussie kids to cricket from any background or creed. Well played Roy :(
One of my favorite players growing up. Explosive, powerful and swashbuckling. Can't believe he's gone. Rodney Marsh, Shane Warner, and now Andrew Symonds all gone within a six month period. Turn to God, tomorrow's not guaranteed.
Us Pakistanis will always respect Andrew Symonds for putting on shows against us. Also, I think a lot of people like Symonds, Hussey, Yuvraj, De Villiers and Dhoni who actually bat at number 5 or 6 position and take the away the game. We haven't seen these kinds of batsman in the last 10 years. Only guys who are super consistent at position 1-3 with white ball cricket #RIP
Yeah completely agree. Post Dhoni-De Villiers era, such batsmen aren't seen anywhere. Even for India, Dhoni wasn't at his very best in his last 2-3 years. De Villiers left at his peak. Jos Buttler and Maxwell though are turning out to be one (though fairly they can't be put in that league).
@@Zulu_1-1 yes. Only England and Australia has batman down the order that can steal the show in ODIs such as Maxwell, Butler, and Alex Carey. Don't forget about Carey in OdIs. He's not flashy but he has stolen games from opposition
He falls into that all-rounder category of the likes of Flintoff, Stokes etc where if you looked at only their stats you wouldn't rate them among the greats... but if you watched them play you'd know the kind of impact they had on games..... and as a Sri Lankan we have been on the receiving end of quite a few Roy specials!!...Deepest condolences to Symo's friend's and family.
Andrew Symonds was too good, he can bat, bowl and field very well. With a star studded batting line-up like Ponting, Gilchrist, Watson, Hayden, etc., Symonds was able to lift the Aussies time and time again!!! Now Symonds is dead, may his soul rest in peace.👍👍👍👍👍👍.
Who was commentating with tom moody? Loved that. Roys great mate matt hayden would have loved how roy brutalized ahkter bowling. What a beast batting. Rip roy. Great queenslander and aussie. Willbe sadly missed
We all are missing you dear you were the real monster of cricket in every format but we don't know what Harbhajan Singh had thought after your death... You were always identified by your Hair.... Miss you Monster 😔😔
Typical dedication and competence in the field. Pakistan's bowlers should feel massively chagrined at the wickets and boundaries their fielders fumbled over the years.
Clarke in at 7, Watson at 8. This was a ridiculous Australian side, and Symonds shone so bright in it. RIP Roy, thank you for the memories 😭
Yeah Early days for Clarke n Watson was yet to settle in the team
In that time Australian side was full of talented players, a full package of great bowlers and batsmen, the great team of all time.
this Australian team was Daredevils and invincibles...!
salute to these Greats
That would be a pretty weak bowling side though if Watson is batting at 8.
@@saadparekhbut it was enough to all out the opponents before target score.

He with Matt were powerful beasts with that willow in hands...And his performances during 2003 WC game simply was an phenomenal.
A week before his death I've met him in the streets of Sydney heartbreaking
you are so lucky
