Melina has the exact same facial structure as the spectral face on Ranni (which is a true representation of herself) and would explain how she can give us the strength of Rune to kill gods, since it's the strength of Death itself.
I think the Smoldering Butterfly is proof that she's the third/first child of Marika and Radagon

In my first playthrough I got the flame of frenzy so Melina didn't have to burn herself, then I used the golden needle to suppress the frenzied flame and got Rannis ending.
Canonically best route. Saving as many people as possible, fully restoring the Elden Ring without any new laws of nature and taking it far away so noone may ever shatter it again and mess up the laws of nature. Thus bringing the lands between some peace and freedom from the gods.
