    Riding a speed tripple: S22 were great in the dry, scetchy af in the rain with poor milage. Now running Dumlop TT's. I'm on my third set!

      Yeah sketchy is a good word to describe how they felt in rain actually! I need to be better at words :D Ah very good, I'll pin this one so people know of a good alternative to the S22s so, 3 sets is a fairly high compliment!

      @@paduloso the TT’s warm up faster & have more than enough grip in the dry. The 22’s are probably ultimately ’faster’ at the expense of longevity.
      I’m still running TT’s on the speed triple.

      @@laureanotalledocasas4573 I like the feel of the TT's better but most importantly, they warm up to temperature quickly in England!
      S22 are perfect in the sunshine if you're getting sufficient milage :)

    Always used BT's, 010 and 020 on B600S years ago 2 sets in one year. Loads of road mileage - Got BT023 on B12N 😎👍 Perfecto

      I've actually never been a big fan of the BT023, I had a few sets on the Fazer and always preferred how the Dunlop Roadsmarts felt on there :)

    S22 = best tyres for me as dry weather rider only - perfect on the road and for the occasional track day😃🏁🏁👍

    Planning on getting new tyres for the Griso for an upcoming track day. So perfect timing for the review.
    My best value tyres were the Pirelli Angel St's. They were 33% cheaper than the Gt's and I got close to 10000 Klm out of them.Would definately get them again.

    As you mentioned the Busa comes with the S22's. I can't wait to get some more time on them so I can compare them to the Dunlop Q3+ which have been amazing and have a similar design, hard center for high mileage, etc.. Please don't crash the Gixxer again..LOL Well it's been ages since I've been on track with a street bike but back in the day I raced with Dunlop's, can't remember what the model was I'm sure they don't make it anymore, they were excellent and dropped my lap times by seconds but now days I have to say my Q3+'s are amazing, super high mileage and great performance on the shoulder and edge. I also can't wait to get some time on the Michelean power 5's, man I got so much riding to do!

      That'll be an interesting comparison actually as you use your tyres quickly!! :) I'll have to try the Q3+ at some point! :)
      Haha I absolutely will do my best not to crash again :D I think you may need to revisit some track days soon then eh :P
      Yeah it's crazy how much of a difference a tyre can make over a lap! Really shows why they're such a huge decision in the likes of motogp etc!! They're on the list to try so!! :) Maybe I'll even get them on the GSXR :D Hah we both do!!! :) Worse things could be our problems tho eh :P

    Another solid review. Another technology, dual compound tyres, that just adds to the costs and complexities. We are worlds away from cheap practical transport now. Tyres are another topic which breeds armchair experts. It is a shame there isn't some way you could borrow a set for a week and then change them to compare different brands and grades. . . . This week the rainy season hit us with a vengeance. The well worn knobblies on the VIAR feel rock solid. Are the variations in tyres in our heads like so much of bike riding is ? 🤔

      It does indeed, that said, and I completely see your point, I have used older tyre technology and I do think the improvements that exist now have made a massive difference for countries like Ireland where the road is often cold and crappy. The soft compound on the edge is very noticeable in winter when you move on to it in comparison to the slippier hard centre.
      And yes, swapping tyres every few weeks would be brilliant in fairness, I can't imagine anyone ever sponsoring me to do that tho :D Plus it'd lose the chance to test them once they go past 50%...which is often where tyres can really show their weaknesses I think!
      Oh no, I hope you don't get any damage this year from the rain! Hmmmm, I wonder are they that good as they're a single compound knobby which may be warmer and more grippy? Maybe we would be better off changing tyres more often and having specific compounds for winter and summer and just having them cheaper.......it'd be an interesting experiment!

    I think I'll def look at something more sporty for the gixer when the Pilot Power 2CT's wear out, they are great, but it would be nice to have some super sticky tyres fitted for trackdays. Comrade, moy favouroit tire for ze road so far is ze Michelin Road 5, perfect for ze cold/wet Russian winters. When attacking ze capitalist pigs on ze faster paced rides, I prefer to arm myself with ze Pirelli Rosso 2 in the past or Metzeler Sportec M7RR.... but I am out of touch with tyre tech for track/hooning.

      There is a tyre a Step more sporty than the S22 from Bridgestone, the RS11, but I don't think you can go wrong with any of the big brands anymore really :)
      Hahaha thank you comrade :D I will try the Road 5s next on the CBF :) Hahahahaha the capitalist pigs hahahaha :D I'm laughing too much to think now :P The M7RR is still about I think, or it's younger brother :P I've never tried any Pirelli!!

      @@TheGorillaBiker had the M7 on my KTM 390 Duke, not the fastest bike in the world, but them tyres really suited it when hooning

    So many makes and types to choose from these days but an interesting subject all the same ,have ya ever tried the Pirelli's at all I hear the angels are good but who knows . : ) good insight .

      I have angle GT/s on my super Duke GT I've done 10k on them road and track no issues came stock with the bike 👍👍

      It's one brand I've never actually tried is Pirelli, I might eventually but they're always a touch more expensive when I look at them, and I tend to eat tyres up pretty quickly so I avoid them, I'll have to give them a go now!

    What tire would you advise me for my Cbr600F (track only) bike? I don't use warmers and don't want to change wheels every time it rains. (budget and being lazy)
    Have used Power 5 and Rosso Corsa 2 previously.

      For track only with no warmers I honestly wouldn't know, I was using S22s for a bit but swapped to Dunlop D212 with warmers after I found their limit and had a little crash.
      I've never heard anyone give out about the more track focussed Pirelli road legal tyres tho, there was a fella riding in advanced with them and no warmers he had supercorsas so that might be a good option. Like I said tho I haven't used them myself so I couldn't say for sure.

    Just slapped a set on my S1000R. Guy before me had fitted touring tyres so I'm hoping I'll manage to scrub the chicken strips off these. No track days yet :(

    Number of compounds= 1 center, amd 1 for the outer edges, so they count this as 3 compounds (2 edges to the tyre) instead of just two different compounds. 👍

    Nice review :3 My pick are the Bridgestone Road 5. But.. I only have experience with like.. four different tires. The coolest IDEA for a tire IMO was the Shinko 777s with the reflective ring on the sidewall. Had those on my kz440 and it looked so cool! For this area, and the weather, the Road 5s have been fantastic. Lots of rain and cold. Very good grip. I have complete confidence in these tires.
    What's the difference between the S22 and the Road 5? Are the S22 made of a softer material?

      Thanks! The Michelin Road 5? Haha you're one of the folks that has me putting them at the top of the list for the CBF next, I have to give them a fair chance :) I've tried.....actually a lot at this point :D Over 12 anyway haha.
      I've seen that, anything like that that makes us stand out is a great idea! I'll be through my current set of Mitas tyres soon and I'll test the Road 5s next, see how they fare for me :P Hopefully they stand up to my slightly aggressive style :D
      The S22 would be softer yes, and likely have a more flexible carcass etc as well, which would all lead to the tyre getting a bit hotter and wearing that bit faster. It's all about how well the tyre compound can squish and grip the cavities in a surface. Plus the Road 5s have way more sipes for clearing water etc :)

      @@TheGorillaBiker I'm not sure about 10k, but I've been commuting (granted not daily) on them for over a year now, and I took a trip across state on them. They're holding up very well. Plenty of tread left on them.

      I've never used the rosso 3 so couldn't say. If it's mainly rain though I would HIGHLY recommend the Metzeler Roadtec 01!

    Are the S22 pretty close in gripiness of say the Q3plus? I have to replace my rear (Q3P) and the Q5s is just too darn much so looking for alternative and been hearing good things about this tire.

      I've never used a Q3plus myself so I couldn't compare. But I don't think you'd go wrong with the S22.

    Switched from Pirelli Corsa 2s and ContiAttacks to S22.... more finicky with pressures, definitely less grip in general, takes a lot more time to get up to heat at the track. Not impressed at all, going back to Pirellis and Contis.

      Thanks! I never got to use the SF+ on the track, on the road the S22s are a liiiiiiiiittle smoother but I loved the SF+. For the price difference I'd go with Mitas unless you reaaaaaaally push your tyres.

    Interesting video! I was thinking of putting these on my CBF next time around. The BT023 are good tyres, but I find at large lean angles they start to let go, probably because of the profile. There's less tread on the road the further you lean. But because the S22s aren't so great in the wet, I might accept the compromise of the BTs because I'd rather have good wet weather grip most of the time rather than higher lean grip on the odd occasion. Would you put them on your CBF after trying out both the Mitas tourer and Mitas sports tyres back to back?
    Only times I did anything on track was decades ago. Pirelli Phantoms on a Yam LC250, which for the era were very sticky and as it was a 250 still did around 6000 miles on the rear one :) I only did two races and two practice sessions in the dry so they weren't seriously abused.
    The other time was on my Yammy 650 Turbo with a Dunlop intermediate race tyre on the rear and a Dunlop Endurance road tyre on the front. After 10 laps round Silverstone short circuit the front tyre was completely goosed (as you'd say) on the right hand side as it was all right handers :) The intermediate was great. I used them on the road too as they were classed as road legal then. Bought 3 cheap and they did about 4000 miles each. I was about 80kg then (heavier than now).
    I can see how your size might work against you in some situations, but do you reckon because you're heavier the tyres get more of a work out and warm up quicker? In winter I hardly ever seem to be able to get much warmth into mine, even after a blast along the motorways en route to the good roads :) Do you think the less warmth helps my tyres last a bit longer too?
    It'll be interesting to see how the GSXR handles the track on the Mitas Sports. I guess you'll be doing some advance prep on it soon. Only about 2 months until the new season? Cheers :D

      Why thank you sir. That's similar to how I found the BT023s to be honest when I had them on the Fazer, might have been an older tyre but they never felt as comfortable at high lean angles. If you haven't tried the Metzeler Roadtec 01s yet I couldn't recommend them higher if you need rain grip.
      Honestly no, not on the CBF, I'd go for the Mitas Sports over them as they were so capable in Scotland. That said next time for the CBF I probably will try Road Pilot 5s as everyone will kill me if I don't :D
      Gently abused on track so they were :D You should try another day on the CBF :) I'd say you'd have an absolute blast!! :)
      That's very interesting, shows how far companies have come with tech to cover the widest range of applications possible I suppose!! Haha goosed is a great word, goose has so many applications :D 80kg....so yeah I'd be about 46 heavier than that :D It's why I do think I'm a bit heavier on tyres :P I should stress that more when I'm talking about range :D 4000 miles each is very good to be fair!
      Yes, I do, very fair point too. I should call that out more. But my weight without a doubt has an effect on me warming my tyres up faster, and possibly over heating them on track at times! Another very fair point on the longevity as I was just saying above i think I'm harder on them, which would make perfect sense you'd be the inverse :) I need to eat more salad!
      Me too! Yeah I have to change the clutch, check the valves etc, just trying to get time to do it all :D Not soon enough :P

      @@TheGorillaBiker No worries about the reply. I saw your post on RUclips earlier :) and I'm always amazed (and appreciate) that you find time to answer all the comments.
      One little thing I picked up to do with tyres and track days/racing. You may already know this, but it's strongly recommended to use metal dust caps. Apparently at high speeds the valves can blow out and the metal dust caps prevent catastrophic deflation whereas the plastic ones just fly off. I can't remember exactly why, but on the litre bikes I've changed them to be on the safe side :)
      I know you're probably joking about salads, but certainly cutting out all meat helped me drop about 5kg without any problem. I enjoy a bigger variety of dishes now than before and feel better for it :)

      Thanks, ah it's the least I can do really, it always sucks when you don't get replies! I do get how some channels just get too many comments to possibly reply to them all tho.
      I did not know that, that's very interesting tho and even if it's only a rumor it's bloody worth swapping them all eh! I'll have to do that :D
      I'm actually not tbh, I do want to lose more weight, with all my knee injuries and such I have put on a decent chunk of weight since I had to quit sports, so I'm going to try it. Not going full vegetarian say but healthier lunches and stuff at the least. I don't actually eat badly or anything just too much I think. Very glad to hear it worked for you tho :) Losing a bit of weight can work wonders for how you feel on a day to day basis!

      If you're pushing it HARD on track maybe, but it's a pretty good blend of road/track. That said I wouldn't personally run it on track again, I don't blame the tyre but I'd have trust issues :D

      The manufacturer recommended. I can't remember off the top of my head what it is. 38/40 I think, 36 on the front then, I'm guessing but about that
