very interesting and informative content of video, and am wondering how could I possibly have a set of Kalahare red here in the Phillippines and very interested , another problem is how to get in touch with you
Nice insights, sir. I'm a follower of your channel and in the same line of business. I breed rams, sheep and cows. I just started goat breeding as well. What do you think about crossing Sokoto Red Goats with our Nigerian dwarf goats? I need some tips from you sir.
Thank you very much. Crossing of Sokoto Red and Sokoto red goats happens a lot in nature but you need to ask yourself what your goal is. Crossbreeding makes sense when there is a positive quality or trait you want to bring out in the F1 Crosabreed. The most important quality we want usually is increased carcass size. West African Dwarf and Sokoto red are almost the size having maximum weights of 25kg and 35kg respectively. Kalahari red and Boer goats weigh more than 100kg and therefore their crosses with Nigerian local goats can give us goats that weigh between 45-65kg. That is the most important rationale for the crossbreeding.
Great video sir. I have a farm that will be starting soon. My goal is to invest heavily in Kalahari and Boar goats, and for sheep, I'm looking into Balami and Ladoum. My farm is in Osun State. I've always wondered if I'd have to import these goats from Ghana or SA. I hope once I'm ready, I can reach out to you and buy from you instead? The goal is to crossbreed them until I have an F5 breed.
There is a guy known as Fred from Farming in Africa and he does the importation of the boer and kalahari red from South Africa. Maybe you can reach out to him
Dr. Godson, why would you name a goat after King Charles. This is quite offensive to me, a Nigerian not to talk of how an English viewer will feel about this cruel joke. I also beg to differ with you on the Kalahari being best. In my opinion, the Savanah goat ( all three (3) sourced from South Africa) is more hardy and suitable to adapt to the Nigeria conditions. You also used King Williams and King George. This is a very poor sense of humour if you ask me.😮
