- Looking for cheap and fast saloon / sedan cars? Maybe some more 'exotic' saloons? Super-saloons? High BHP / Power? This video includes 10 potential options, starting at £3,500 and going all the way up to £10,000!
It's probably about as basic a design you can think of when it comes to cars, and saloons have become a staple for almost all manufacturers. People often complain that I have too many hatchbacks on the channel, so here we go with something a little different!

Yep as amazing a car as it is there is a laundry list of regular faults that can cost almost as much as the car does to fix.

Great vid, We need more of these cars that are mainly in the US despite being popular brands in the U.K. such as the Hyundai Genesis, that Lexis, even the Nissan Altima just to add variety, LHD isn’t as bad as people think.
Yeah I feel that - LHD would be calm, only problem I've found when driving LHD on British roads is pulling out around larger vehicles when you don't have a passenger!
Yes my fav in this is probs the Impreza WRX STI Ej25 is where its at but I prefer a Blob but I wouldn't mind a Hawk

I've owned an '06 E55k for just over a decade and the odometer's showing some 26,000 miles now. Expensive to run but the effortlessness with which it does everything and that deep exhaust rumble (positively Wagnerian once it warms up) make it worthwhile...

love the shape of coupes but the doors tend to be too big for normal parking. I have a VW EOS 2DTi and I love it apart from the occasional leak in winter and the problem with freezing frameless windows.

Whats the best fast car that does 0-60 under 5 seconds with low maintenance costs? Also whats the fastest low cost maintenance convertible 0-60 under 5s. Budget £10-15k? Thanks.
The XFR is brilliant, it was my choice after test driving the the RS6, E63 and M5. Less irritating than the M5 when driving at normal speeds, more sporty than the E63 and more exciting than the RS6 due to being rwd. Buying one for £10,000 is a bad idea though, every one of them I looked at in the lower end of the market was neglected or abused or just didn't drive right. Cars worth buying start at £12k and that price hasn't really moved in a couple years, prices seem to have levelled out for now. The biggest, most common problem is the supercharger drive coupling which fails every 50k miles, there is a cheap fix with a rigid coupling but they cause damage to the supercharge because they take away the shock absorption that protects the supercharger. A proper repair costs around £800 from a specialist or £1200 from a Jag main dealer.

Can't believe the Audi S8 wasn't mentioned! For as little as 5k You can buy Audi's ultimate luxury saloon with the 5.2 Litre V10 LAMBORGHINI engine! That has some real modding potential however never seen it listed on any kind of list. Especially crazy considering the original sticker price of around £120,000 for a decently equip vehicle.
Haha I've mentioned it in too many previous videos at this point, but I'm sure I'll find another excuse to use it!
I don't like the look of most saloon cars, so I guess I prefer coupes. I feel like the 4-5 door configuration belongs to breaks and some hatchbacks.
I prefer coupes too, much prefer the older M3s to the new ones for example!
Honestly I love 4 door saloons they looks so much smarter than 2 doors and I get Claustrophobic when I sit in the back of a 2 door

Another car that almost fits into this category and often overlooked is the subaru legacy R spec B more than 240bhp and AWD, as little as £3-4k for a clean example with around 70,000 miles

Looking at getting a new car, I have 1 year no claims what would you recommend? Mainly going for a drivers car I got a quote on a mk6 gti and was only 2400!
Hmm difficult - depends what you want from the car! Drivers car is a good start but then also how practical/fast/economical etc? I would recommend building a shortlist of things you want then tick off your options based on that!
Love your channel but 60000 miles for oil change for the Jag, I'm thinking 6000 miles. Keep up the great content.

For me it has to be coupes. On the whole I personally think they are more aesthetically pleasing over saloons.

I was going to say, you could buy a classic Italian supercar and break down a lot... you beat me to it he he. That Maserati does look very nice... and madly depreciated, hard to believe it can be had for less than 10 grand!
It's cheap because...well it's crap. It does have a Maserati badge and a Ferrari engine though, which makes up for a lot of that!

5 doors are pretty cool I can’t lie but it’s really what you want. Some massive fuck off landyacht that you can waft about and do the school run in or elegance. I personally like 5 doors, but I just seem to love massive unnecessary doors on coupes, especially the rolls wraith. Been in a matte black one once and I fell in love.
also: on the lancer evo 6, my dad had one about 3 years ago and he couldn’t find one non modded, it was the only one (my dad doesn’t like mods). If you can find one non modded, snab it, it *will* go up in value being a non modded version.

Hello, I was watching your cheap insurance video and I followed all of your findings out and the cheapest without blackbox was still stupid.idk if it's because I never put my driving license number down as I don't actually have one I was just looking for when I do get one in less than a years time
(apologies realise this is the third comment - just getting around to my replies) - Driving license number has helped me in the past but I never do it on any of my quotes for these videos - have you tried insuring cars you're looking at as if you park them on a road away from your house overnight? Sometimes this works as other roads have cheaper insurance/burglars are less likely to be able to break in and steal the keys!

Anything with a V10 wins at life. Loses at actually working in this case, so I wouldn't buy one but as long as someone else is paying to run it then I love it ☺

Btw the SL55 & the E55k generate the same power. Dyno tests over the years have established that stock all the 55k engines output the same power; 493bhp (500hp) at the crank. GS450h. £14k for a Mk4, 50mpg on a run, will probably never need repair (unless you bottom it out and knock off a heat shield, not that I'd do that...much) and it's got more power than a 2020 Audi S6.

It's us being tremendously lucky, cars depreciate heavily here so can pick up a decent bargain very easily - equivalent here you'd be looking at a perfect condition M3!

@@CarsWithJB I asked Peugeot about my old 306- I think it was due to French regs but that was half a tank of fuel and 2 people in the car. Added about 3-4 secs to the time. The GS450h I'm pretty sure is petrol only, so it's the slowest time you could expect, if the battery isn't charged. The regularly quoted 292bhp matches that, since it's 345bhp really (although can't dyno it with a CVT and 292+200=345? Hmm...).
On the other hand, they could all just be sandbagging- Lexus aren't usually the worst at that, Porsche are notorious for it. BMW to some extent too. Some have suggested they're trying to protect their halo models- if an M4 is 0.1s slower than an M8 nobody will by an M8, but if it's 0.5s slower...

@@CarsWithJB E46 M3's are great cars, but 5 seconds to 60 is very optimistic, they were more like 5.5-5.6 when new, and the cars for sale at £10k are all over 100,000 miles and will not be putting out the same power as new. Vanos seals need doing every 3 years or so, which is quite expensive if you have a garage do the work.
Edit to add, I'm a BMW fan (no hater), owned 6 so far, and currently have an M140I.
What about just nice looking cars? Not that fussed about speed especially because of insurance

You are such a good mechanic but when you mentioned that this Jaguar with a supercharger oil changes go 10-15k miles......... we know it is just a cheap scam trick that dealerships use just to get the car through the warranty... If you drive this car as it should be driven 5k miles is the max to change the oil and filter in it... Automatic gearbox partial change 40k miles if you want that jag to last... unless you don't care then yeah do whatever :D
