At 0:33, I say, "It records in H.264 resolution." H.264 is an encoding and does not imply any particular resolution. I intended to say, "H.264 encoding, higher resolution," but while I was sputtering off the list of new features, I dropped those words. Hopefully no confusion will result from this mistake.
It's not that fatshark goggles are overpriced. It's that ALL googles are overpriced. There's no reasons why a pair of small low res displays in a cheap plastic shell should cost the same as a PS4 pro, Mid spec'd laptop, 50" 4K TV, etc... Even the most high end Fatshark goggles should cost more like $199. I'm sure they would still make a healthy profit of what probably costs $20 to manufacture in China.
@Recreational Plutonium Yeah you're right. I realized after I posted this that there's a lot more to it. After I watched the interview with the guys at Orqa really.
You see. You obviously know nothing about marketing and economy. Have you ever heard term "market demand"or "target group"? Don't compare two totally different products from two extremely different markets. I assure you that when nearly 100% of population in the first world will own an FPV googles (vide your comparison to TVs) those things will cost 5 times less. Not to mention evolution of the product itself. Naturally this will never happen so don't count on price drops of FPV equipment anytime soon.
During the battery talk you made it sound like Eachine is copying the USB charging from FatShark. I believe it’s actually the other way around. The first battery I am aware of that did had that feature was the battery that came with the Eachine EV100 goggles. It was smaller but I still use that battery with a lot of my goggles.
USB charging a battery, is that unique to a manufacturer. It would be nice if the battery had a proper balance lead so you could charge it faster. USB charging can take more time depending on charger rating i.e. charging at less then 1c
They need to open source firmware and have it upgradable via usb or sd so ppl can get running all modules for future lol like dual rapid fire. also usb data access to the sd card via usb. i say eachine did good if the production comes out good i think it will get alot of ppl in the hobby. with a good sales the ev300 can be even better
When they fix these smaller problems, they are totaly better than fatshark, also i like that eachine always thinks about what they doing.that cover and dual-diversity sounds great. Nice pre-review JB👍
As someone considering a purchase these days I really appreciate an unbiased opinion on this. Having recently seen you do a really indepth and useful interview with fatsharks lead guy I was apprehensive about this video being impartial, but I think this is exactly what the consumer needs and expects, impartial assessment comparing like-for-like. If the new guys don't measure up, then fine, at least we know we're safe with our fat shark purchases, but it is to the net gain of FPV as a whole that products be assessed against their peers price-wise. After all, clearly we could all buy better with unlimited purse strings, but as someone balancing a budget like the rest of us, this kind of assessment is crucial. On the whole, not sure, but I am really grateful that this kind of in depth investigation is out there. Thankyou Josh
Ya know, some of us wouldn't complain about used equipment as giveaways, lol. Too many goggles? Give them out to new guys like me! I'll cover the shipping!
Hell with shipping Id pay half price, use it to the max, my aomways keep dropping out and black, rescan and get it back, idk frustrating, burnt ribbon fixed new rxs. now this no one knows.
I find your reviews are both comprehensive and honest. Great work. Hopefully the 200D's optics can be made better prior to full release. The rest of the package looks good.
Thank you. I just want to recognize that, while viewing the EV100 goggles, you gave several recommendations to Eacine for improvements to upgrade their goggles, and it seems they listened.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👌
Josh, not nitpicking here, but was wondering if your FPV camera setting were stick of if you changed them. If they're stock, then this doesn't apply as much, but if not then the fact that the image isn't as clear may be due to you tuning them to an LCD screen (like that in Fatahark and Aomway, etc) and not for the LCoS in the Eachines. Even if your setting are stick, Foxeer/Runcam probably set them up for LCD as well, so changing settings a little on the camera may fix the picture quality issue. Also, why couldn't you use a LaForge module? Everyone keep saying that, but aren't both modules removable? If so, just take both out, run the cable outside, and you're good to go. I don't see why that couldn't be done, but maybe I'm missing something (as I don't own either a LaForge or the EV200Ds) Other than that, like always, I love your review Josh and can't wait to see the range testing! P.S. showing screen quality on camera is just overall a bad idea. Refresh rates of the screen and the FPS of the camera tend to portray the picture quite poorly.
LaForge would fit into the goggle but you couldn't use quadversity. That's what I meant. Image being tuned for LOCS? That's not what I mean when criticizing the image quality. I mean the fact that the screens are not well matched to the optics so it's difficult to see the entire screen in both eyes at the same time.
Ok but it definitely sounded that the picture was also a problem in quality especially compared to the VGA of the attitude. You definitely have to tune the stock settings in the goggles themself and the camera as well. I wonder what the max picture quality would be that you get when this is done. Like brightness colors and so on.
Joshua Bardwell... don't stress the naysayers! I really appreciate that you aren't afraid to call it as you see it. And also understand that this is your livelihood so sometimes you got to put the reviews out there! Keep doing what you're doing!
A few things it's not like fatshark came with the USB on the batteries. It was Eachine with the ev100 so you have to say like the ev100. Your impression of the screen comes fork the different screen technology you are used to LCDs and this is a lcos. The resulttion is way better than the attitude. So for sure picture is sharper on it. Both have plastic optics. They polarized the optics as well to get off the problems that the fx7 v1 had. That might be why you see more fingerprints but I mean normally you don't touch the screen as it will have fingerprints. Looking forward to your review of your modules. Please also check using two LaForge modules or two true d or so instead of the stock modules from what I know they are the only ones that sync up to be used with quadversity. A recommendation to Eachine from you would be to make an option that ships with the Eachine pro 58 modules. As with Achilles these would be a killer and probably better than the stock ones. Can you check how much you can see of the screen with the faceplate off. Eachine said they are making different faceplates with bigger cutouts to view the full screen better for the production model. How do you like the fov? Nice review keep it up. Compare the reception of the modules to the Eachine pro 58 modules with Achilles please. Not worth it to compare a module that's 90 bucks or more. Thanks a lot
I purchased the eachine ev200d with modules for $280 new. Love them. Not perfect but super value especially for a noob flyer. Thanks for the review was very helpful in my decision making. 👍💖🤓
I heard the production version of these are better thanks to your and others review, highly considering getting these now as an upgrade to my ev100’s thanks for your hard work and honest opinions
Definitely, DEFINITELY, Kabab's EV200D was defective. It's the only explanation I can think off, because it's the third good review I see. Great job, JB! I just received my EV800D and already want those. 😐
Kabab posted a followup on insta. The blurring was a result of a dying 3rd party receiver that he was using, which did eventually die. As to what killed his receiver, that's yet to be disclosed.
Did they ever change anything? The 59mm ipd of Fatsharks and others is a little too wide for me. The 3mm extra adjustment will mean no straining to focus my eyes on the screens.
the resize issue is addressed by turning the quad/camera on before the goggles so it can adjust properly. i've occasionally seen this on my dom v3's (true-D) and I know I've seen it on the eachine dvr module too (at least the black plug n play one). I suspect with the doms its really because on some quads I might have pal or ntsc selected and others auto (depending on camera and my laziness).
That's a goggle which has a huge potential. If Eachine hears you and everybody else, and make the needed corrections, it will be just a fantastic goggle. Had you already seen the Fatshark Dominator HD2 Terminator Edition?
Dear Joshua, please throw a run cam sparrow and a basic vtx together on a board or something so you can properly review 16:9 goggles without (only) complaining about how bad they look with 4:3 cameras. Sure, many people run 4:3 cameras. But I don't! :D. I use the sparrow, and the runcam split with my skyzone goggles. All 16:9. I love the view! Anyway. Thanks for another great video. Keep up the good work!
The things that are wrong with them have nothing to do with whether the camera is 16:9 or 4:3. I can view the 4:3 image stretched to 16:9 and see the same thing as I would see if I were looking at a 16:9 camera. I can tell what is the effect of the stretched image and what is an innate characteristic of the goggle.
Joshua Bardwell I suppose I'm willing to take your word for it. I brought it up because in my experience, my native 16:9 goggles (skyzone v+) work perfectly with my native 16:9 cameras, but might be a little off when I watch a feed from a 4:3 camera... So when I watch your video commentary about various goggles I find myself wishing you would connect them to one of the cameras I use. If I've read you right, you prefer the 4:3. Honestly, I MIGHT have preferred that aspect ratio, but I got my skyzone's on sale, so I'm committed :) -you know, maybe that could be a subject for a future video? "Best 16:9 cameras and goggles" -what do you think?
I purchased these and believe I've figured out the blur problem (for me at least). It's all about face geometry and your eyes. These googles did not live up to my expectations at all... I get intense blurring at the top of the screen- sometimes to the point where the channel information is completely doubled/unreadable. I also cannot see the battery indicator with one eye, so it appears as if the IPD adjustment is off, even though it's the 'best' I can get it... The only way to make it clear, is to adjust them to the point where I cannot see the bottom of the screen, and the straps will not hold them in at any angle where all of the screens are visible, and clear. The optic windows are TOO SMALL for my eyes. I suppose I have a fairly large face, or more deeply inset eyes than most. If I push the goggles insanely close to my face with no pad installed, they *almost* work. In case anyone's wondering, I also have an oculus rift, so I'm somewhat familiar with IPD adjustment, and having screens close to my face and getting them adjusted properly for *maximum* clarity. I realize they're not going to be 'perfect' or 'crystal clear', but these goggles are so bad for me, my eyes can't even focus on my OSD and there is no sweet spot. I even tried the -2 diopters as had been suggested on a forum, but these cause my vision to constantly refocus, as I don't require glasses. There went another 20 bucks down the drain... IF YOU'RE GOING TO BUY THESE, TRY TO TEST THEM OUT FIRST... I know how insanely hard that can be, but after dropping about 300 dollars on them, that is the best recommendation I can make. I'm currently working with banggood for a refund... I'll do my best to update this when I receive word back (If I haven't updated this by mid-october 2019, hit reply so I get a notification and I'll do my best to update the situation). Even though I'm coming from E-Max's (horrifyingly terrible) TinyHawk RTF goggles- I just cannot accept paying as much as I did for these with these design flaws inherent for my facial geometry.
I'll be watching these when they come out, not as an interested prospective buyer, but rather to see if history repeats itself. I bought the EV100 last year and they exhibited every symptom that people complained about. Many lucky people got working examples, and they never understood the constant stream of rants flooding in, and some of them would get downright beligerant when someone was hating on their goggles. MIne were horrible, causing crash after crash. After being asked to provide them with videos of what they were doing wrong, Banggood suggested that I try to sell them for $70 and they'd refund me the difference. As an interested prospective buyer, your question shouldn't necessarily be how good they are for the money, although that's important. What you have to ask yourself is how will you be treated if it's junk? Do they tell you to dump it off onto somebody else? Do they tell you to ship it back at your expense while you wait 3-6 weeks for a potentially-defective replacement, recalling fond memories of the $300 that's in their bank now? Do they make you take a video of what it's doing wrong (have fun with that one)? I don't love my Dom V3s, but they work and they have predictable support.
It was much closer than I expected. I've order the fatshark hdo, and the ev200d. I do like larger fov, but I'll know when they get here. One of them will grow on me hopefully.
I have been like a lot of people and have been waiting for these goggle to come out. I am apprehensive to buy these now at the price point they are showing. The Fatshark Dominator V3 is only a few bucks more and I think the known quality of fatshark is worth the few dollars more. If Eachine lower the price by $50 it would be a no brainer then for me. Thanks for the review.
But do the fS come with a receiver or a diversity receiver? I actually don't know and am asking. But i'm pretty sure eachine will decrease the price after the initial release. Thats what they do with everything.
Go check out GetFVP they have a Fatshark Dominator V3 RTF combo pack that is $299. It comes with a standard fatshark Receiver. Its not diversity but those arent to much for a good one. That is probably the way I will probably go wen I upgrade from my current cheap box goggles that I started with
I was looking at the commander v2's as my ipd is at 70, so I will wait for the production version of these but so far they're looking "good enough" for me
The chopped off screen is a massive fail in an otherwise large heap of win. I'm split on the fan switch. It's nice to be able to keep it on, but personally, the 10 minute timer of Fatshark and Aomway suits me more since they're so incredibly quiet and I'm absent-minded as hell, meaning I'd forget to turn it off and it would just run down my batteries. Battery behind the head is a big win in my book. Super comfy and doesn't pull the goggles down. Good review! Thorough as always.
Joshua thanks for another in depth review, though surely warranty period Quality control and support should extend to the overall value of these goggles and goods in general from these company's. For example I've never owned anything from fatsharks as of yet. Though everywhere i read people saying they have excellent support, good QC and warranty period i believe is 2 years. I've also read they will repair out of warranty for a price and have repair centers dotted around the world..Then if we look at say Eachine that I've had first hand experience with, they have a 30 day warranty if bought say through Banggood, or you can pay a bit more and go direct to eachine and get 45 days from the items production date. They offer no support outside of these periods, and in my case just ignore you, even if you offer to pay for parts. So when you look at this example Fatsharks are much better value then what people make out, because your just comparing build quality and features, which is great. But when things go wrong with these goggles, and you cant buy spare parts, and the company's don't want to know once they have your money, well that's not good value. I realize that you reviewers can't say too much or dig to deep into this subject, else you might stop getting sent things to review. But in all fairness for the sake of the consumers buying these products and keeping these community's going, there should be more information about those company's that do care for their products and end users, and those that just want your money and want to shut the door on the user as quickly as possible.
yeah i'm looking to get some goggles for my 1st drone experience. but not wanting to spend $400-500 on them, and i don't want box goggles. which is what brought me to this video. watched your's and a few others, review on the ev100. i'm still in debate with the ev100 for my 1st goggles. price is a big part for my first fpv drone set up. i don't want to spend too much at first. but i also want something that isn't bound to one kit like the tinyhawk kit. seems, i need to spend about $1000 minimum just to even get started with anything decent. and at that point, i might as well just get the DJI FPV drone kit for $1300.
as a none fatshark user, i use the eachine 2 box goggle which i highly recommend, id be willing to give these a go for the price range, i did consider a pair of the HD2's more so for the FOV but then they got dicontinued at the time so mmmm , maybe
Interesting fpv googles and i wonder how good multi diversity for the range and stability of fpv signal reception. I will be waiting for your review about it Josh. As beginner in this hobby i still learn to fly with micro quad/tinywhoop to improve my flying skills. Concerning fpv goggles ... i think ridiculous if it more expensive than my micro quad/tinywhoop so i decide to use Eachine EV800D googles and i'm happy with it. I will consider to get another (better) fpv googles when my quad more expensive than it :)
Loving my EV200D's, just flying my Whoops around the house where my other goggles would break up and lose a bit of video, these stay clear the whole time
When reviewing the RF section of the goggles, can you please let us know about the quad diversity of 200D? My understanding is that these goggles can work with two Eachine diversity receivers (quad diversity). Now, if the original Eachine receivers as not present (which is set A), can we install two diversity receivers or only one? Moreover, if I'd buy a set B, can I remove one of the Eachine receivers and replace with a True D for instance? Would this still be a quad diversity? Appreciate your work and dedication, thank you for the review. !!!
Great review mate, bit perplexed over the long wait for them to be publicly available. Ended up buying HD3 new from HobbyKing for $550AUD, because I couldn't wait for these. Then saw a goggles drone package second hand on Facebook marketplace, with the rare HD2 as the goggles. I negotiated seller into selling me the goggles only, for $350AUD. This was before the TerminatorsHD2 release. Still very happy to have a daily HD2, and use HD3 on the weekends. I don't race, just fly for pleasure. Did look at HDO, but couldn't justify the price. As I have 2x sets for almost the same price as HDO. Also a firm believer of having a spare of everything.haha Great to see that EV200D are out, well almost. Will look forward to your range testing video. Paul
Unfortunately the table of contents in the video description doesn't have clickable time stamps for mobile users. Seems like the only way to make it active for mobile is to paste it in a comment and put a pin in it.
Looking forward to seeing how the receivers are, been waiting for these to come out, but I end up ordering the hdos, hopefully I made the right decision.
Curious to see range test, looking into a lot of options for my first set of goggles. These look like they should be good, but others i'm deciding between are Aomway commander v1, Skyzone sky02, and FS Dom. V2 or 3. Budget is tight so watching all i can on these. Good job Josh
One person that these are for are a person with whom's IPD is too narrow for any fatsharks. I have that problem. I have tried fatsharks and I couldn't get them narrow enough so that I could see both screens. My EV100's IPD fits me perfectly so I am hoping these EV200's will be an upgrade for me.
Very fair review and good for an entry level person. Plus competition is good for the industry. Take theFurious battery case for instance. That’s a real Power Button smack in nads and was the real WOW factor in this video. 😀👍🏼
To be completely honest, this reveals the limitations of pointing a camera into the lens. The EV200D has a larger image than the HDO, but there is no question whatsoever the HDO image looks clearer, brighter, and crisper (even though the EV200 has higher resolution panels).
yeah i have to agree with Josh here and say...ummm...no it didnt look better. it looked more washed out, maybe brighter but the HDO had more contrast and color.
3rD_Coast FPV - well as Joshua says, we can't really judge much about the quality based on the footage, but you're seeing pretty much the opposite of what I saw (HDO less contrasty, less detailed, yellow cast to it).
lol i had to rewatch an ev200 do look nicer but i think its cause of cooler image that i like but the ev200d show more of the camera's image it seems watch 16:11-16:13 it goes from 3 kwads to 4 on left wall
For what it's worth I'll give you my feedback. The need to fix the cropping of the image. I've just got the Fatshark attitude v4 moving away from the eachine ev100s and I've now noticed I have fpv camera osd info showing at the bottom. It wasn't there on the EV100s. I also think my flying has got better since using the Fatsharks maybe as I can now see more of the camera image.
I’ve been waiting for your take on it, and now I want them. It’s unfortunate that they removed the zoom dials for each lense that they had on the ev100s. I use them religiously on my ev100s
i am ok with everything but i miss some kind of led indicator of the multiversity...at least i want to see the modules switching. call me crazy, but without indicator you just have to be a believer
Fatshark may raise prices after seeing this... Nice goggles with some great features but not there yet where it matters most IMO.... but these are not the final version so have to wait and see as they are getting better. Like the multiple antennas idea for higher gain range but IMO the Dom HD2's are still the best if your eyes work with them and looking forward to see how new VRX's work. More light is more information so would like to try a 55-60 FOV with higher resolution even if a little blurring on the edges is present.
so i guess the cut off screen wasn't fixed after all? is that an optics problem or software problem? if it's optics i'd buy them and have a go at fixing them myself , but if it's software i'd not buy them
Thanks for the great review a lot of stuff that got cleared up and really well done. Definitely the best review professional wise so far on these goggles. That's why I was asking for your review so much. I just hoped you would be less prejudiced to those goggles as you said they surprised you and so on. It's better to have no expectations and no prejudiced to anything that you review and then base your opinion fully on what you experience and not on what of you thought they would be and what they are.
You can do that but it's still annoying to lose part of the image and it shows a certain lack of attention to detail that may exist elsewhere in the goggle.
Wyvern Of course fatshark will have your back. They had your back from day one. Your back was the first thing the shark laid eyes on and grabbed as you were bending over 🙌
Better have your A game on during rutting season! Great fair review. I've used Headplay box goggles for so long that I think I might just wait for the Terminators now that I caught wind of those.
I got these goggles and have the exact same problem. I cannot see the full screen and it’s frustrating! I’m really thinking of changing to something else but not sure what else, I’m going to have to pay a bit more
The problem with price for FPV goggles could be due to how many they sell. The more a company sells the cheaper their bulk price is for the components they need to build them. Lets face it, this hobby/sport isn't near as popular as many other hobbies/sports...BUT in the same reasoning MAYBE if quality goggles were cheaper more would buy them. I have flown RC planes and trucks for a few years but didn't buy goggles because of the price compared to features
Can't wait to see final production model. I've been sticking it out with the EV100's 10 degree FOV (sarcasm, but really trying my friend's FS's at even 32 or 40 degrees is a BIG step up and would take some time to adjust) until something of really great value came along. That and I foresee the entire concept of goggles transforming over the next 2-5 years, so a $5-600 investment needs to be well placed and forward thinking, especially for a cheapskate hobbyist like myself. Really disappointed they didn't leave the focal length adjustment in there. I have a prescription but it isn't bad like JB's coke bottle glasses ;) so the focal length was perfect for me, saves on having to buy ANOTHER thing for your goggles. One big plus for the Aomway CV1 goggles is the simplicity, no extra modules to buy, and they come with a decent set of antennae all at a fair price. But they're not as potentially forward thinking--I'm talking digital HD long range low latency make you a sandwich and give you a foot rub on a 5" quad type stuff. But then again I think you'll have to throw away any goggles you've got by that time, and if you want a good experience you've just got to fork over the money. Until then, I'll stick with my 1990's 20" CRT TV from across the living room EV100 goggles. :P
Well speaking from experience now, these were garbage. I bought a set back in September and now both screens have gone bad. The left one is messed up and has weird lines running across it and the contrast is messed up on both. They worked great for about two months but then died. So quality is bad but the product worked well for a while. Banggood won't replace em cause they've been out of the box for more than a month. So I'm screwed. Hopefully mine was just a fluke...but buyer beware.
Kevin Gillett yep that’s what I was afraid of, buying the EV200 then they die a couple months later with no support. I’m in Aus so goggles are even more expensive than for u U.S guys. $430 for EV200D or $605 for the HD3. Or $700 with a diversity module.
I'd be curious to see these compared to the Skyzone Sky02 (borrow Drews maybe). I have been fine with mine but newer goggles that have come out do have some tempting features and make me curious if a upgrade would be worth it.
Hi Josh, probbably got this commented: your prescription glasses reflections are a bit distracting. maybe use softboxes? dont know - just feedback. Now I keep watching a very old goggles review :)
I fly with box goggles and was hopeful for these. After seeing the footage of the dom v3 in 16:9 I think I'm sold on those instead. It looked most similar to what I fly with now on my Quanum DIY V2 headset.
Joshua, the zoom happens also on eachine DVR alone...its a bug...you have to power on quad first so the signal is available and goggles can adjust....works on my DVR...may help here also
Yesterday afternoon and after a year, I went out to pilot the GX210 5 inches, and with EV200D glasses. I only have in the glasses a receiver installed with 2 antennas, a pagoda and a patch. In one of the passes, I carried the drone behind me and about 50 meters away, I lost the signal and went to the ground. Soft, low-lying soil. There was no damage. Would it be better to connect the other receiver and place more antennas ?? Regards
HYDR4Z I would, although it would be my second pair of goggles. (I have an EV800D, which is also awesome.) Just because of one reason: removable modules.
Joe Gonzales I have a lot of Eachine's products. Never had a problem. More than that, I started FPV with my smartphone, a VR Box and an Eachine ROTG01. And it's awesome!
MC's Creations, Well i don't really like the look of box goggles... How stupid it may sound i'd rather go for the fatshark style. Although i don't really care about the modules too much
HYDR4Z Well, that's question of taste, really. For me, well, I use whatever works better. You know? I fight too much during the late 90's and early 2000's about things like VB vs Delphi, ASP vs PHP, Windows vs Linux... Until I had to try Debian (a Linux distribution) and fell in love with it. 😀 Now I don't have both installed, but I had in my last notebook. And maybe even install Linux in a virtual machine. 😊 Anyway, I'm not "against" anything anymore. 😊
Till now I've been a screen flyer, so I wonder why do you guys want to see the edges of the screen? I want to change to goggles to experience the full first person perspective. Isn't seeing the edges of the screen something you want to avoid, to make it more realistic? 🤔 Awesome video btw, I think I will give the 200D's a try 👍
@@WayneStark626 nope. I cancelled my order because of their latency problem. I'm happy with DJI FPV since half a year now. Better latency and better (HD) picture 😉 Still more latency than most other analogue goggles but I don't need it faster for my flying.
Niche market globally isn't niche market anymore. @Recreational Plutonium
True. Unfortunately new coming hobby grade "drone" regulations are against market growth..@Recreational Plutonium
True... and you can also change this annually but a tv every 10 years!!
You see. You obviously know nothing about marketing and economy. Have you ever heard term "market demand"or "target group"? Needs more antennas.
It needs 10
not 10, it needs 16
Even if they aren’t perfect...you have to admit that’s a really hard kick to the throne!!!
Makes other companies realize what is possible!!
DroneRacer101 lol exactly what I am saying as well you are completely right. Let's see if he points that out in the next video to the ev200d
Yes my old vr007 battery has USB charging
USB charging a battery, is that unique to a manufacturer. It would be nice if the battery had a proper balance lead so you could charge it faster. USB charging can take more time depending on charger rating i.e. charging at less then 1c
But you can plug in a big power bank while flying and put in your pockets you get dozens of hours of flying time
You are correct sir. I have 2 from way back in the day (you know like a year ago in electronics terms).
Gotta pay for that palatial estate and $30k car.
Thanks for the good review. Can you also use a 16:9 camera in your next vid? im interested how it looks compared to the 4:3 streched to16:9
Does anybody know if the cutoff points on the screen are fixed now?
I don't see why that couldn't be done, but maybe I'm missing something (as I don't own either a LaForge or the EV200Ds)
Other than that, like always, I love your review Josh and can't wait to see the range testing!
P.S. showing screen quality on camera is just overall a bad idea.
Great review Josh! Hope Eachine listens to you and the other reviewers.
If they fix the disadvantages of optics in the production version - it will be very cool goggles!
You almost had me at HDMI, but lost to an “almost” at 16:18. 😐 Thanks for the review, you’ve saved me a lot of money over the years 🤓
I heard the production version of these are better thanks to your and others review, highly considering getting these now as an upgrade to my ev100’s thanks for your hard work and honest opinions
Is it just me, or did the side by side image comparisons around the 16 min mark seem to make the HDO optics look much worse than all the others?
To be honest it's hard to judge the true optical quality this way but it at least lets you see the size of the screen.
I thought I needed new glasses, I agree.
I noticed that also.
That's why I elected to save $100 and get the HD3s.
InFrontOfYourBack1 i ended up getting the dom v3s they always look great to me in every video i see and i like the 16:9
Definitely, DEFINITELY, Kabab's EV200D was defective. It's the only explanation I can think off, because it's the third good review I see.
Great job, JB! I just received my EV800D and already want those. 😐
MC's Creations he is the only one who is true!
Joe Gonzales Oh, come on, man...
Kabap took both of his EV200 vids offline afaik. - And he didn't make a review he only made a preview/first look.
ZeroFPV I saved copies of them before they went offline.
Kabab posted a followup on insta. The blurring was a result of a dying 3rd party receiver that he was using, which did eventually die. As to what killed his receiver, that's yet to be disclosed.
glad your doing more reviews keeps me coming back for content. and as you know we know your a no bs normal ish guy so always respect your opinion
You're
Did someone from Dubai design the fan?
specifically palm island
Had you already seen the Fatshark Dominator HD2 Terminator Edition?
you mean the Blurry Edges Deluxe Edition?
Fliptality come on man, people still like it. I do rather a large screen than a small screen. I don't mind the blurry edges.
only very few people like it. the ones that either dont see the blurry edges or dont care cauz they spent so much money on a flawed product
Spot on man...Nice way for fatshark to get rid of all the shit leftover Hd2 glass..
Something is telling me your current sensor is off on that build 😀
Nonsense! Joshua is obviously cooling off his cpu
Hopefully it's great. I'm not giving up my fatsharks but more power to eachine for addressing the budget market.
This is a valid argument.
That is probably the way I will probably go wen I upgrade from my current cheap box goggles that I started with
I was looking at the commander v2's as my ipd is at 70, so I will wait for the production version of these but so far they're looking "good enough" for me
I love this video so much because of how happy he sounds in the beggining!
Just the fact that you compared these goggles to a dom v3 or any top tier fat shark sold me on them.
FYI... H.264 is a codec not resolution.
In your video you mention that the screens are not fully visible, did they fixed this for the release?
The chopped off screen is a massive fail in an otherwise large heap of win. I'm split on the fan switch. It's nice to be able to keep it on, but personally, the 10 minute timer of Fatshark and Aomway suits me more since they're so incredibly quiet and I'm absent-minded as hell, meaning I'd forget to turn it off and it would just run down my batteries. Battery behind the head is a big win in my book. Super comfy and doesn't pull the goggles down. Good review! Thorough as always.
look at the end the 16:11-16:15 the hdo show 3 kwads on the left wall the ev200d show 4 kwads not 3 how it cutting image
@youel adamas
I'm not sure if your reply is a question, but I'll assume it is. I'm referring to the OSD being partially off screen.
i think that might be from him moving it over in betaflight to fit fatshark that all seem to cut the left screen down
I read some comments, I believe you did an excellent job. So, thank you!
Nice to finally see a competitive horse in the race. Now things will start to change.
I like very much how you organized the video by a table of contents. Awesome video!
yeah i'm looking to get some goggles for my 1st drone experience. but not wanting to spend $400-500 on them, and i don't want box goggles. which is what brought me to this video. watched your's and a few others, review on the ev100. i'm still in debate with the ev100 for my 1st goggles. price is a big part for my first fpv drone set up. i don't want to spend too much at first. but i also want something that isn't bound to one kit like the tinyhawk kit. seems, i need to spend about $1000 minimum just to even get started with anything decent. and at that point, i might as well just get the DJI FPV drone kit for $1300.
Great video I have been looking at these and if the range testing works out they will be my new goggles. Can't wait great stuff
as a none fatshark user, i use the eachine 2 box goggle which i highly recommend, id be willing to give these a go for the price range, i did consider a pair of the HD2's more so for the FOV but then they got dicontinued at the time so mmmm , maybe
THX for the review. One thing is important to me - the weight of the googles. Would be nice if you could put them on a scale.
happy flying
Also a firm believer of having a spare of everything.haha
Great to see that EV200D are out, well almost.
Will look forward to your range testing video.
Paul
Unfortunately the table of contents in the video description doesn't have clickable time stamps for mobile users. Seems like the only way to make it active for mobile is to paste it in a comment and put a pin in it.
This appears to be a RUclips issue. They are clickable in desktop.
Joshua Bardwell yeah seems to just be a RUclips issue...or maybe by design...I can't figure it out but thr RUclips studio beta is full of issues too 😂
LOL @ the SD card launching itself
Looking forward to seeing how the receivers are, been waiting for these to come out, but I end up ordering the hdos, hopefully I made the right decision.
Josh’s reviews are the best.
Thanks Josh!! So appreciate what you do bro.. 👍
Kinda funny how the EV200D shot looked better than the HDO one.
Hdo image was sepia-like, i have HD3 was looking to compare with that
For what it's worth I'll give you my feedback.
Waiting for the EV200D to replace my Eachine VR D2 Pro (and Eachine EV100 that I don’t use as much)!
why wait? get the Commander v1
geemailMossman Can I get them at $230?
No about $280
If the numbers get cut on the widescreen then just shuffle those around on the osd in betaflight if thats your preferred aspect ratio.
You can do that but it's still annoying to lose part of the image and it shows a certain lack of attention to detail that may exist elsewhere in the goggle.
the ev200d has more image then hdo look at the compare images at end left wall 3 kwads hdo 4kwads ev200d same image
I'm glad I didn't wait and got the HD3's instead, perfect for me and if they fail I know FatShark will have my back.
Wyvern Of course fatshark will have your back. They had your back from day one. Your back was the first thing the shark laid eyes on and grabbed as you were bending over 🙌
#metoo
Great video jb. I been wondering about these and i know u will tell if it go or bad. Thanks for all u do for fpv buddy. EAT SLEEP FPV
Better have your A game on during rutting season!
Great fair review. I've used Headplay box goggles for so long that I think I might just wait for the Terminators now that I caught wind of those.
Hello Joshua, have you checked the EV100 too? Which antennas are strongest for the goggles in range and quality?
The Intro was hilarious 👏👏👏👏.... I like the editing 👏👏👊
Can we use 2.4GHz or 5.8GHz receivers?
In theory a 2.4 ghz fat Shark module would work.
I have complex astigmatism and the funny thing is, I never use glasses for goggles as the image is so close there is no blurring going on!
Love the Bullwinkle look at 0:03
I got these goggles and have the exact same problem. I cannot see the full screen and it’s frustrating! I’m really thinking of changing to something else but not sure what else, I’m going to have to pay a bit more
So it seems it's not fixed yet in the final product? That indeed is frustrating for OSD.
cost is more than just specs imo, I am still testing my diy goggles solution, soon as I can finishing testing stuff, I will release the info
BTW, what diversity modules are compatible with this unit?
Are there any firmware hacks to the goggles themselves?
Great review. With all the goggles you have Joshua, which is currently your overall go to goggle now?
So, if we buy the EV200D, which four antennas shall we buy!? :)
This is the single biggest reason I think everybody who possibly can, should save up for Fat Shark.
Did they fix the cut-off edges of the screen? Not getting the whole picture is a huge game breaker for me..
i believe the cropped image can be changed with a firmware update if they were to ever make one.
Hi Josh, probbably got this commented: your prescription glasses reflections are a bit distracting. maybe use softboxes? dont know - just feedback. Now I keep watching a very old goggles review :)
Try a 16:9 camera and check if it's still zoomed in please I am really interested in that.
I fly with box goggles and was hopeful for these. After seeing the footage of the dom v3 in 16:9 I think I'm sold on those instead. It looked most similar to what I fly with now on my Quanum DIY V2 headset.
Joshua, the zoom happens also on eachine DVR alone...its a bug...you have to power on quad first so the signal is available and goggles can adjust....works on my DVR...may help here also
I had same behaviour and I found same solution with my Eachine ProDVR
Yesterday afternoon and after a year, I went out to pilot the GX210 5 inches, and with EV200D glasses. I only have in the glasses a receiver installed with 2 antennas, a pagoda and a patch. In one of the passes, I carried the drone behind me and about 50 meters away, I lost the signal and went to the ground. Soft, low-lying soil. There was no damage.
Would it be better to connect the other receiver and place more antennas ??
Regards
I was looking for my first FPV goggles, i was thinking about the Aomway commander... Should i wait for these to ship?
HYDR4Z I would, although it would be my second pair of goggles. (I have an EV800D, which is also awesome.) Just because of one reason: removable modules.
It's eachine! Don't buy eachine crap!
skyzone v2+ or eachine ev200 -what better to buy?
Can you compare the delay? Take a stopwatch on the video and a picture of the stopwatch in glasses, in one frame.
That method doesn't work.

You need a photodiode and an oscilloscope like Oscar Liang and RCSChim do it.
Dude that opening shot! Lol FPV moose! Great video as always man!
the image on the EV100 is cropped as well and it pisses me off, i wonder what they're doing wrong.
Supercool review Joshua. Now you can send them to Spain, because I'm stuck in quanum 2 😂😂😂
Till now I've been a screen flyer, so I wonder why do you guys want to see the edges of the screen?
I want to change to goggles to experience the full first person perspective. Isn't seeing the edges of the screen something you want to avoid, to make it more realistic? 🤔
Awesome video btw, I think I will give the 200D's a try 👍
Did you end up buying them and how are they?
@@WayneStark626 nope. I cancelled my order because of their latency problem.
I'm happy with DJI FPV since half a year now. Better latency and better (HD) picture 😉
Still more latency than most other analogue goggles but I don't need it faster for my flying.
@@DerMitDemMojito Thank you for your feedback.
