    Suzanne , opening scene, always measure full length of what you need, not what you're cutting off, if you assume the wood is the right length, you'll eventually get bit.

    • @This1LifeWeLive
      @This1LifeWeLive  Месяц назад

      Oh yes, I'm not sure what I was measuring in the opening scene unless I needed that small bit, but the wood IS all different lengths so we do measure what we need :) But I can't honestly remember one day to the next, stuff flies so fast around here shooting video is a blur, hahaha

    Great progress. Both You and Erik should wear safety glasses at all times when using powered tools. I hope the baler and swather will fit in the garage. Make one door a few feet wider?

They put up a flag when the roof is completed to say partytime..... then put in windows/doors and the outside walls... it will be all closed in... for the electricians and plumbers etc to do their mahi (work). 🙂nz*

    Not certain why you are spending time building the garage when the house doesn't have a roof and there is no tyvek covering the OSB walls? Wet weather is coming and I would have thought you would get the house enclosed before starting the garage.

    • @ruralridez6165
      @ruralridez6165 Месяц назад

      The garage has the same roof/trusses as the house. So they are going to sheet it all at the same time.

    • @This1LifeWeLive
      @This1LifeWeLive  Месяц назад

      The original plan called for a 3 car garage, we cleared one garage bay into a bedroom and shifted the whole plan :) Since we went extra deep, we do technically have space to fit 4 vehicles in there, just maybe not with two big trucks, lol

    • @ruralridez6165
      @ruralridez6165 Месяц назад

      That was the plan but we had to cut back to stay on budget. I plan to build a workshop garage on the double wide slab once it's removed.

    Did you guys decide how you're going to heat your new home? What sort of insulation type are you going with?

    • @This1LifeWeLive
      @This1LifeWeLive  Месяц назад

      Open to suggestions! We've talked to 2 hvac guys and a fireplace store. Fireplace store suggested a pellet stove to heat 4000sqft, and Hvac recommended a furnace along with a heat pump . . . to pass code you need at least a furnace . . .
      We love the idea of wood heat (we have it), but the chimney is the killer with the tall roof . . .
      Insilation will be open cell in the roof deck and MAYBE the sidewalls too, or blow in in the walls...

    Should have used 1 inch sheets of metal faced insulation in basement area then shoot 1by 4s up an down and 1by8s top bottom for crown and base .and yes I helped design the Hitachi hard nail concrete gun this was before most of you time late 80s yes in Florida we were using trusses in 80s and coil nailer that shoot almost every nail .any berring wall beam suposed to be at top under top plate .and bolts in concrete to hold down sill plate every 8 inches on center in center with 2 in square washer

    • @This1LifeWeLive
      @This1LifeWeLive  23 дня назад

      On the walls or under the treated boards on the cement? I know per code we do have to add foam board insulation to the walls, and we had to add some thick 2 or 3" insulation to the front footings . . . I think that might have been foil faced . ..

      We do have a nice spot in the corner we can add a woodstove if we want, the BIG issue with a fireplace OR woodstove is the chimney. The chimney stack would cost more than the actual stove :(
