ANGELINA JORDAN.
Doing Lynyrd Skynyrd, you mentioned seeing the song played out like a movie. In that vein, "Mr. Tanner" by the late Harry Chapin would be a great reaction.
Well, actually *_anything_* by Chapin would be. Taxi, W.O.L.D., 30,000 Pounds of Bananas... His entire "Greatest Stories - Live" album is a gold mine.
Bobbie Gentry's classic "Ode to Billie Joe" would likewise be excellent.
Ray Stevens comedy storytelling.
If you like story-telling songs/ballads, try Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. Loved this one. Was a big fan of Vicki Lawrence back in the day. She was great as Mama!
PARK KI YOUNG --NELLA FANTASIA from the movie called the mission . this has i believe 27 million hits .she used to be a rocker but tried something different,,,it is in my opinion the best version of this ennio morricone
I loved that song when it hit the radio and, knowing Vicki Lawrence from regularly watching Carol Burnette, I bought the original album on vinyl. Crazy to think that was 50 years ago. And yes, I still have that album.
Not enough people realize she was the first to record this song.
I heard that her husband wrote it.
Vicki originally did this in 1973. It was on an album I had of The Greatest Hits of the 70's. When Reba covered it there was also a video that was a mini-movie.
I first heard the Reba version....loved the video with it....added to the story. Maggie should listen to Reba's version too.....compare them, for differences. They are both good.
Vicki Lawrence is an extraordinarily talented and funny woman.
Her skits on the Carol Burnett show are hilarious.
I remember hearing this song when it first came out and have loved it ever since. In the country field there are an incredible number of great storytellers. That's one of the things I love about country music.
I like this original version of the song and I am glad that she has won so many awards for the song I also like the video that Reba McEntire did for this exact same song
Have a Happy Thanksgiving, Maggie! And thanks for being here!
Another great story-telling song is Bobby Gentry's "Ode to Billie Joe"
I second that
Reba's version has a video with it that helps explain the story which takes a little figuring out. You should do some Reba reactions. Reba is a huge big multi generational star that's done it all.
5. I remember when this song came out. Vicki Lawrence really made this song come alive. Thanks for your reaction.
A Great Song , Beautiful Lady
I show my age when I reflect that I listened to this song live on the radio when she released it. It reminds me of my college days and the car I was driving then.
I do believe her original version was better than the older live version.
I also like this song and have liked ‘Story-Tellin’ Songs most of my life. I am reminded a little of the legend of Homer the Blind Poet of Antiquity. I would recommend Marty Robbins for more ‘stories’... El Paso, Big Iron, and Ballad of the Alamo are just three of the songs that are worth listening to...
I second this recomendation.
I also remember when this great song came out. A true classic from back in the day.
I never knew Vicki Lawrence could sing, I only knew her from the show Mama's Family(hilarious show btw).
Had a number 1 with this as well in 73
You music comes out of nowhere and and can sing
such a chillimg story but heard it alot
This is Vicki's song, Reba's song is YOU LIE.
Happy
Thanksgiving
great song
🤗💟 Can't wait to see you today at the Premiere and tomorrow on the Live Stream! Happy Holidays! 🤗💟
I remember Vicki Lawrence from the Carol Burnet show, but I never heard her sing. Thanks for reacting to this!
She also had a talk show somewhere between the late 90s and early 2000s.
Great song, I was a little boy when it first came out. Now you MUST react to the Elephant Story from "The Carol Burnette Show". Not music, but one of the funniest things you'll ever see.
Reba McIntyre sings this song, as well! Great video! You show do a reaction video 😄
I like both versions. Reba's version is more country because of her accent. 🤠 Closest I could get on the emoji. RUclips's mobile app is weird sometimes about them. I don't remember if you reacted to Ode to Billie Jo by Bobbi Gentry or not.
story tellers is the best ,
This is an example of a "murder ballad", a traditional form of folk tale about a crime, example, Tom Dooley.
Best story teller=Harry Chapin
a great song-there is a video of her talking to a reporter telling her she was the one who killed the wife...
I'm pretty sure that's Reba's.
The Carol Burnett show is awesome. Reba McIntyre sings this song also. Hi Maggie
MAMA
I was just checking out our reaction to Janis Joplin and asked how people would react to her today. Courtney Hadwin: 13-Year-Old Golden Buzzer Winning Performance - America's Got Talent 2018
Loved this original version the best. Reba's was good too though. But I guess because I heard this version first when I was younger. Thanks for another great reaction. I love it when you listen to the song before reacting.
Another hard day and I get home and I see that i get to watch you for 12 more wonderful minutes. Love you so much❤❤…also Reba McIntyre did this one, you should check it out
Gotta do Reba’s live version.
😵😵 closest party face I have
Story tellers? Try El Paso Marty Robbins. Also try Johnny Horton , North to Alaska or Battle of New Orleans
Such a fun song about adultery, double murder, judicial corruption and hanging.
5 Like that girl singing that her mio amato is just "friend zoning" her and she wants more for the relationship, her story as sung in Akin Na Ka Lang.
Great reaction. Another good story telling song I'd like you to react to is Waylon Jennings "Rose in Paradise."
2:30 Song starts
Hi watch the Mama skit with Tim Conway and Carol Burnett..still very funny today!!!
If you like that story telling check out Bobby Gentry - Ode To Billy Joe
Dear Maggie
How are you today? I love your reaction to this song. You should watch the Reba version to this song. That will definitely give you chills.
Ok. Just wanted to let you know.
Ok. Love you and I'll talk to you later.
This song is played often still on Country Music stations, except by Reba McEntire. I had forgotten about Vicki Lawrence doing this. She was known for her role on the Carol Burnette Show. It seems so odd that you have done Vickie Lawrence yet not the great voice by Reba with her many hits. "The Greatest Man I Ever knew" would be a good start.
I like Vicky’s version better! It’s what we grew up with.
you like stories try Red Solvine song Teddy Bear
Vickie Lawrence's husband wrote this song
Hello there
prefer this original version
Please react to:
Meatloaf - For Crying Out Loud (Greatest Love Song Ever)
Mary Chapin Carpenter - I Feel Lucky (Just fun)
React to Celtic Woman
Check out too much heaven by bee gees
Wayback when... the electric chair was a "thing' down south, the local power grid wasn't very good, so when the chair was charged( as well as the prisoner), the lights would dim for a few blocks radius. Now WHY would a HANGING make even ONE light dim, not to mention actually go out. Never has made any sense.
Kurt Snyder Also, where was Sister when the trial was a goin'? Iffen she was all so concerned about Brother that she murders his cheatin' wife( and her lover), why not so concerned about him gettin' convicted and sentenced? Why this little beyotch didn't confess and save Brother?
Kurt Snyder Too bad there wasn't a fella named Caine or Grissom passin' thru to do some four n sicks; but they'd've been just startin' med school or the police academy at that time. Maybe another guy name of Quincy might'nt've gotten the truth.

Reba is Reba Mcentyre, one of the greatest artists ever, imho.
The lights go out when someone is electrocuted not hanged.
You’re always so beautiful 😍
🤗🙏
What is the moji as I cannot find that particular "party" one? Guess this could be a comment, but don't need a reply unless you do have the time.
Story songs seem to work a bit better if there is a little twang in the singing. 🥳
Only if you like country.
Taylor Swift-No body, no crime is a thematically similar song.
If you want some funny storytelling songs try Ray Stevens
You mister doing too?
You kept talking about the song and then you started talking about riba McIntyre by the way
Have you missed the fact that she was his sister and shot them
This version is the only one I like
Reba Mackentire
They messed up the lyrics. They should be Webb's (name of the bar) and Andy Woloh. This is a Southern-voiced song with Southern characters, so the lyrics in the song express that, but whoever transcribed these was very poor at understanding the nuanced speech and tone that Southern people have. You know any story with characters must follow the speaking conventions where they are from.
"Hi, what's doin, Wo?"
said "Sit down, got some bad news, it's gonna' hurt"
I absolutely love Reba but Vicky's this performance is absolutely my favourite. Reba sings the song just fine it's the video that's awful too much talking throughout the video Very distracting
what is wrong with you...its country music, it always tells a story !!! Thats what country music is about ....wow
Bad video of the song !!!
you are not listening or understanding right from the beginning.. you as usual with country music...you miss one word and the whole meaning of the song goes away..Ive seen you do it 2 or 3 times !!
You do know this was a hit for Reba McIntyre
