- Comedy legend and star of Mama’s Family Vicki Lawrence gave a panel at Steel City Con December 2022 to talk about her show, experiences, and answer fan questions.
Vicki Lawrence played Thelma ‘Mama’ Crowley Harper on Mama’s Family, a popular sitcom that ran for 130 episodes. Prior to that, she was a regular staple of The Carol Burnett Show, appearing in 269 episodes. Her other roles have included appearances on Fantasy Island, Laverne & Shirley, The Love Boat, Hannah Montana, and many more.

Vickie Lawrence was blessed by the Hollywood Gods. She had Carol Burnett and Harvey Korman, as mentors. It simply can't get any better than that.

I have all 6 season's of Mamas Family on D.V.D it's such a funny an popular show to watch an get a good laugh.
I love Vicki
She is a great story teller.
I find it odd that Mama's Family is never acknowledged as the catalyst behind "Golden Girls". The corporate executives didn't understand young actresses playing older women and then suddenly a year later we had four of them on a prime time show with two of the actresses plucked out of Lawrence's show!
But none of those three woman, were young. You realize this, right?
When Mama's Family aired in 1982-1984 NBC was in 3rd place and Mama's Family had nothing to do with Golden Girls...once Cosby, Girls and popular shows made NBC a hit they weren't think of Mama and network management changes too so some shows get kicked to the curb too.
I just LOVE this Lady, she has always made me laugh. Bless her heart!

I saw Vicki in Dubuque, as Mama she was scarier than Darth Vader, and I still watch her on DVD on all her six seasons, the funniest woman ever!

I always wondered what she thought of the movie The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia when it was released and bombed ? Its one of my favorite movies even though it wasn't that great . It stars Kristy McNichol Dennis Quaid and Mark Hamill .

I’ve never really cared for her . Too harsh just never seemed very nice too me . I always felt she was not likable when I was a kid . Her personality always rubbed me the wrong way .
She made a big mistake dumping Mama's Family for her short-lived talk show. I'm sure she regrets it.
I love Mama's Family, but Vicki Lawrence seems a little too brash for my liking. She comes off as being mean and bitter.
