- Hi guys!!! I just wanted to make a video showing you guys how i shave my legs! i know when i was younger i would always search up how to shave because no one ever really taught me excatly how to get super smooth legs so i just wanted to put this here as a resource!
Хобби
this is my exact shaving routine. i don’t get razor bumps and i believe it’s from exfoliating so definitely buy a sugar scrub!! also i use aquaphor if i ever cut myself from shaving
yesss aquaphor is perfect to stop the bleeding! also yes the scrub helped me so much!
do u get ingrownhairs?
@@bird6880 occasionally i get a couple but it’s not normally a problem for me to pay too much attention to
I make my own scrub…the only part I didn’t know was to go up and down with the razor.
Mine also
Remember! Only exfoliate 1 to 2 times a week. Anymore than that can seriously irritate/dry out you skin
You don't need to shave more than twice a week. Plus shaving in and of itself is exfoliating. Also the skin on the legs is less sensitive than the skin on your face.
Ya but if you have chicken or strawberry skin then you should shave everyday so it depends from one person to another
@@Isabella.9876what does that mean
@@theblackfamily472strawberry skin is when you have a bunch of ingrown hairs on your legs, basically a ton of dots on your skin
This is my exact routine except for that up and down with the razor, that scares the shit outta me 😂
But I do always shave down first then I do up, so it makes sense
Same I feel like I’ll cut myself if I go up and down
Facts 😅
I heard it could possibly contribute to ingrown hair, but idk if it’s true-
I did that razor shaving technique and literally took a whole chunk of skin off of my leg 😭😭 like a peeled a fucking potato
Can we just appreciate the fact she turns off water while shaving ❤. It gives me nuts when someone shows their routines and leaves water running full speed in between
Basic common sense tip: do not take online hacks/tips/tricks as dogma. If it doesn't work for you, don't do it. There are plenty of people that cannot achieve smoothness with a blade regardless of routine. There are also plenty of those who may severely damage the skin by any variety of shaving.
And, of course, if you do not want to learn about yourself from bad experiences, consult a medical expert prior to trying out new ideas.
Seriously, up and down shaving has changed everything for me. I'm in my late 30s and just started last summer. These are the things I wish we knew sooner. Total game changer.
isn't going up and down like that going to increase your risk for ingrown hairs?? i was taught NOT to do this. only shave in 1 direction
Yes, I get them so badly and it’s a nightmare. Up and down definitely makes them worse.
I don’t get ingrown hairs shaving like that. It cleaned the razor out as you go. It doesn’t shave the hairs in two directions it just shaved one way and cleans the hairs out going backward
@@Rickerovi use tendskin for ingrowns and it improved my legs alot
Well she’s not really shaving up and down. On the way down the razor doesn’t shave as much
Not really, you're only shaving in one direction and when you go in the other you're cleaning the hairs out of the razor so it get more sharp during all of the shaving. 😅 At least that's how it happens to me
I have never heard of going down with the razor. I’m 41. I’ll have to try this!!!
yes i learned from another creator on tiktok and it’s really helped me get every hair!
Same, and I'm 43 😂
😮
@@qiaraoneal7047 Oop-
@@qiaraoneal7047 nah I’m playing I don’t bully ppl cuz there age ofc
Going up and down can increase risk of ingrown hairs and razor burns but it does get you a closer shave to the skin and won’t be irritable unless you have sensitive skin
Another tip from a guy, use a simple safety razor (double ended razor) instead of those 3-4 blades razor. They are more accurate and will also be more pocket friendly cuz you would not be required to constantly buy those expensive cartridges
what brand
@@atyourbesturluv.7106 Any brand, they are SIMPLE
Does a single razor reduce the chance for bumps?
Thank you ❤
My boyfriend loves these and i started using them too a couple of years ago, inspired by his example in a way, blades are super cheap, eco-friendly and easy to clean, unlike the cassette ones. Nothing will make me go back. I feel like people are being scammed, to be honest.
Shaving the shaved legs 😂🙂
I just tried this today and my legs are so much smoother. Thank you for some of these tips!
yay!!! 🥹🥹🥹🥹
Girl thank you I was never taught bc my mom thought I already knew how. :)
I just shaved my legs for the first time! This helped a lot my legs are so smooth and I didn’t cut myself!😊
yay!!!!
Just something she didn’t mention, is make sure the waters warm so there’s no goosebumps to cut off
The up and down motion to shave SAVED me so much time! IM glad i found this video my razor doesn't even get clogged with lots of hair like it use too
Ooh the up&down is new to me👍🏾
You should try a exfoliating soap shave sponge&see wut u think. I really like it
It makes my legs so smooth&it’s great to use if im in a rush I dont have to use a separate exfoliant. (I have a shorts vid up of it on my channel the sponge is in the thumbnail)
DO NOT GO UP AND DOWN THATS HARMFUL PLEASE!! DO NOT TRUST THIS VIDEO!
It is written on the internet that we should shave the hair in the direction of growth. But in most of the videos I watched (including this video), the hair is shaved in the opposite direction of growth. Which one is right?
I will need to try the up and down method on shaving!!
This is so helpful im going to try for the first time today 😅
Same haha. I was so scared but this video def helped.
For many years I didn't know we were supposed to do it up and down. Recently I've been doing it and it works great
You’re like a big sister I never had, thank you ❤
Thanks so much. I’m about to try this out and I absolutely love how you gave us a full dept explanation on what you need to do and how to do it. Realy helpful video. Love you queen!❤
Omg thanks! I started shaving at 12 due to peer pressure but never really learned how and at this point just let it go till im disgusted with myself lol. Usually about every other week. I always miss hairs anyway. Ill definitely try the up and down method!
This is what I’ve been needing in my life, thank you so much you are a life saver!!!!!! 🖤
Exfoliating the legs before/during shaving is a game changer! I use a sugar scrub-salt is to harsh for my dry skin.
I do all this but i have got strawberry legs. I have done everything for it but nothing's changed and I'm embarrassed to wear short dresses. 😭😭
thabk you so much for this! i was never taught and honestly i was too scared ti ask anyone! im so hapoy i found this, thank you!
edit: just finished, this worked too well, i have jever felt this good
When I did the up and down thing (before even watching this video), I got a medium-sized cut on my lower leg, and I had so much blood coming out of it 💀😭
I wouldn’t recommend the up and down motion. Shave only in one direction, and that one direction should be the direction your hair grows in.
I always wondered why i have hairs left after a good shave. I will have to try up/down. Kinda nervous 😅 but curious
Tell me how it goes!!
Tysm nobody ever taught me to shave and my legs are constantly red and irritated😭
I only shave in the direction my hair grows,it decreases the chances for ingrown hairs… or at least that’s what I’ve been taught but everything else,I’ll definitely be using. And I need that salt scrub from Trader Joe’s looks good hope it really does smell good too😂🙏🏽
I just started doing the same. It has definitely cut down on ingrown hair but can you get a close shave though? I feel like my legs aren’t as smooth. Maybe I’m using the wrong razor.
I literally love you. Thank you for this!!!
Thank you I was never taught I don’t go up and down but other than that thank you so much❤❤😊
I was always scared of the sharp one
*HELPFUL TIP!*
As a girlie who used to work landscaping in the hot sun and also who used to be almost 300 pounds.
If you suffer from breakout, razor burn or anything else after you shave no matter what you do, try this.
1. Tend Skin (expensive, but worth it. I don't use it everywhere, only my problem areas like my thighs or lady bits)
2. Double cleanse! Cleanse before shaving AND AFTER!
- when we shave you're leaving behind remnants of hair and shaving cream. No different than conditioner causing back acne. The shaving cream can too! So cleanse after and it'll hopefully help!
NEVER GO DOWN
Imagine if we had these videos when we were like 11? Kids these days are so lucky
Love love love this shaving routine!!!
My mom told me not to shave me legs after I shave it (now my leg is covered in blood)
thank you so much this helped me with my first time ever shaving (today) i'm 13 btw my mom was busy so she wasn't able to show me
i use the exact same scrub and it is sooo worth it!!!
Omg thank you so much i was literally going to go shave and this is so helpful ❤
i use men’s razors bcz they cheaper and get a closer shave, i’m scared to try this and and down method tho
omg girl sleepy is my ALL TIME FAV scent by Lush! 💜
I’m am 11 and do sometimes shave but never knew that, I usually just wet my ankles and start with the shaving cream and then shave but I sometimes bleed
if there is blood it is because your skin is too sensitive for that, you could do it less frequently or simply not do it, be careful!!
i recently started doin this up and down motion and seeing this now ik im not alone
Do you get cuts by doing it? I feel like it would be painful 😅
I actually put on oil before shaving. It helps a lot.
guys! Do not forget that using scents may give you rashes or make you super itchy if your skin is super sensitive.. I cant use products with things like lavender or any scents similar cause whether i use it with shaving or not it makes my skin burn. So make sure you do some product testing beforehand
Ur literally so pretty
THANK YOU FOR THIS!💕🙏
I use the coffee scrub to exfoliate. A little goes a long way. The 3oz packet I got in January isn’t even halfway used up yet. It also leaves you very moisturized once you get out of the shower because of the vitamin e. It’s about $11 on Amazon but like I said it lasts a long time. Also, conditioner is the best thing to use if shaving cream dries out your skin. I’ve tried every sensitive skin shave cream out there & conditioner is now my best friend when shaving.
Yeah I've given up on trying not to get ingrown hair from shaving at this point. Scrub or no scrub, shaving just doesnt work. But its the quickest way to clean up when you have no time so I do it sometimes. Otherwise epilating and waxing give the best smooth skin
I mix epilating and shaving! Shaving is more for quick maintenance and it's been a good combo for me.
I use after all coconut oil for shiny and smooth hair ❤
when i do the up and down motion, i def will cut myself with a BLADE ON MY LEG. a tip ; after completing one strip of your leg, rinse the blade then go for the second and repeat
By the way, this is so so fun it’s so relaxing it releases my stress and I barely can feel any tiny hairs
Thank you this is so helpful since I just started
I shave up ways and my legs are always smooth so I don't have to do the up and down motion but everyone has their own way of shaving but that's just me.
WHAT RAZOR IS THAT?? OMG, I NEED IT!!
I have the same razor and cream! They work so well! Also here is a tip for razor burn as well as cutting yourself use aquaphor or Vaseline! Also make sure to use a no scented lotion after shaving so that the scents doing irritate your freshly shaven skin
Hello, we should use Vaseline just after shaving ?
@@evamaf8857 any unscented lotion works I just like a petroleum jelly if I get razor burn I just find it moisturizing but it’s really up to you!
what if you have long hair?
I make my diy coffee body scrub. It’s actually really good. Try this at least once.
Mix-
2 spoon coffee
2 spoon sugar
2 spoon coconut/olive oil
Don't add shower gel. It melts the sugar and coffee and it doesn’t feel like a scrub anymore.
I never knew the up and down....I'm 63! Thank you
Another reminder to stop listening to everything you hear on social media 🤦🏽♀️ DONT EVER SHAVE LIKE THAT YALL unless you want cuts and razor bumps 🙄 you’re supposed to shave on which ever direction the hairs are growning
Right and what the hell is the part where she is running the razor back DOWN THE LEG?? LIKE IT MAKES NO SENSE..... THE BLADES DONT MAGICAL SHAVE IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION JUST BECAUSE U DRAG IT A DIFFERENT WAY 😂
by shaving whichever direction its going, does that mean shave downwards?
I shave them put on sugar scrub and then after my shower I put on lotion and it works perfectly for me
Doing all this just to get a poky stubble the next day is crazy... waxing is so much better I'm done for like 6 months 🤷🏻♀️
I love this bc I was never taught to shave I bought my own razor and tried to learn myself
Tysm my mum doesn’t want to teach me how to shave my legs but this helped a lot
LUSH started in my home town- Poole United Kingdom
If you didnt know petroleum jelly is Vaseline
I actually shave first because when your legs “soak up” the water from the shower you don’t get as close as a shave! My mom taught me this, wanted to pass it on 🫶🏻
Thank u so very much I need this tutorial because I been doing wrong this whole time thank u so very much for this will remember it now
Thank you I needed this!
Thanks for teaching me! My mother has no hair on her legs, so I was never taught. 😂😂😂 What shaver are you using?
I’m confused. I was strictly taught by my mother NEVER to go downwards when shaving with a razor bc it’ll cut you (and it did cut me/took a slice out my thigh) so why is this different with y’all? I suffer from ingrowns and KP, so I’d really like shaving tips.
The up and down method is actually kinda nice because it unclogs the razor in between strokes
Idk what the downstrokes are for but I can guarantee they are doing literally nothing, blades only face one way.
Try it out
thanks :)
Thank you this actually helped me🎉
Yes this works so will before this I had a samiler routine but I trued going up and down with the razor it works way better ❤ thank you
Ive always felt weird having hairy legs and now that ive seen this short, it helped a lot!
I'm gonna save this thank you so so much
THANK YOU🫶🏻❤️🔥🙌🏼
I have the same razor and the same routine
i shaved at 5th grade bc i was called harry legs BRO I DRIED SHAVED then tried wet shave
(rip little me)
This is exactly what i do except i wash my legs with some random bar soap and then sugar scrub and i use aloe vera for shaving
Aloe Vera gel for shaving? Can I ask why
@@Ohkeh640 because it was nearby so i used it
I used to shave my legs but now I have these small dark spot almost everywhere I shaved. Why is that ?
The razor only goes one way so going down with it is pointless unless you turn it around
but think about it, it will leave the hair that it collected at the top of the stroke when it starts going down again, so the rinsing would be hypothetically easier and faster. efficiency!
Storytime
When i was ten, i had gotten bullied about my hairy legs. So on the day before school i took my moms razor and put lotion on my legs and started shaving like my mom had. being the stupid person I was, i shaved on my bed with my leg bone pointed straight up. I went too hard and accidentally shaved off skin. Being the sneaky child i was i started to take care of it like a regular cut, and when that got me nowhere, i had to make drastic choices. So i planned to go outside and jump off the swing and fall to pretend like i scraped my leg. ( it looked believable) and my mom ended up taking care of it for me ( she was a nurse) and i am 16 now and still scared to shave my legs
Omg 10 y/o bully for body hair. In my country, I've lived 19 years and to this day nobody ever talked about my leg hair. It's just me who decided to shave and got so many cuts.😅
I just bought that shaving cream last week! I didn't like the way it spread or felt though
heres my weird shower routine:
i put my conditioner in then let it sit in there while i shave my legs then i wash the conditioner out put the shampoo in wash that out then do body wash.
Genuine question doesn’t exfoliating damage skin barrier and shaving with that damaged skin varier make it more bad for your skin (I would appreciate answers thank you)
No, no no. You exfoliate first to get the dirt and dead skin all the way the hell off. Then instead of spending extra on shave gel, you get conditioner (which works way better and causes less razor burns for me) and then you wash the conditioner and exfoliating gel (or beads if yours has those) off. And you should definitely use hot water before shaving to soften the hairs. Also if you're prone to razor bumps or ingrown hairs, DO NOT shave against the grain! This is wayyyyyy more likely to cause ingrowns!!!!!!
shaving cream/gel is better than conditioner when shaving because conditioner can cause body acne
Conditioner is terrible, it thickens the hair too
@@atyourbesturluv.7106 It's just too drying for my skin. I can never get a clean shave with it.
I do everything except use a different shaving cream only because I get razor bumps 😬 I use the aveeno positively smooth shaving gel (with light blue cap) or aveeno therapeutic shave gel (with the dark blue cap) they work great!i get them at Walmart
Thank you, ♥️
I was always told to shave with the grain not against but I don’t know if it applies to all shaving
this is exactly what i do, the up and down too
I’m a little confused - why is the razor going down if it’s not going to take any hair away?
Also, I’m going to look into a scrub, as I’ve never used one before. Thank you x
She’s like an older sister that teaches u everything u need to know
