- An incredible Terraria weapon you may have missed... The Stellar Tune. In this video, I take a look at this crazy post Plantera magic weapon which I usually complete miss due to it been a rare Empress of Light drop. This weapon is shockingly one of the absolute best for the mage class and can easily carry you past Golem, Lunatic Cultist and even the Pillars thanks to its fast firing explosive attack. Like the Magical Harp, It also functions as a musical instrument meaning you can play whatever you like by positioning the cursor on your screen! If you haven't already, I'd definitely get grinding the EoL to try and get your hands on one of these things!

I really love you for making so many videos about weapons that are really underated and explaining how to get and what they are good for, I also would really appreciate it if you'd make a video about the Crystal Vile Shard as it is my favorite hard mode weapon, as soon as I enter hard mode I always go to farm souls of light for hallowed mimics, I really love it as it can go through solid blocks and therefore it's a perfect and my Go to weapon for blood moon or solar eclipse!
Was waiting for you to do this one! My favorite weapon by far and super good. Also a great mage weapon that can actually hit through walls.
The reason it didn't fair as well against the Cultist is because the Cultist is actually coded to take 25% less damage from homing projectiles
@@itz_sentigd4981 it's pretty random, probably to balance homing weapons and regular ones since he regularly moves away and repositions so we don't just grab something like the stellar tune and eviscerate him

@Sam As Always I have always loved that weapon just because of the noise (although the damage was quite good)
Empress has some insane drops, not only with the weapons but the Soaring Insignia it's OP, it not only gives you infinite flight time but also increased jump speed, so it's literally the best accessory for the Moon Lord fight cause you can just keep flying and if you land on a block intermediately go up at fast speed.
Hoverboard + soaring insignia + rod of discord is the ultimate cheese, with the super fast sideways speed you can just speed through the world and hold down attack

This honestly could be one of the best mage weapons in the game.
Only downside is that it's TOO RARE
not only that, but summoning empress is so damn annoying
to me, the biggest downside was the noise, its unbearable using this regularly
yeah, if ur not playing expert where you can reset grind the treasure bag you have to do the fight far too many times
I feel what makes this weapon suffer the most is the existence of the Razorblade Typhoon. It's much easier to get and you can get it earlier; not only do most people fight EoL after Duke, but unlike EoL, Duke can be fought at beginning of Hardmode. Pair that with it's near similar, and arguably better performance, there's just no real reason to go after the Stellar Tune rather than the Razorblade Typhoon.
@@Annexialol imo stellar tune is better than razorblade typhoon. It's best mage weapon against low hp targets. Fast speed, homing, hit through walls, explodes do some aoe. Amazing weapon.
I think a larger subclass of musical weapons would be sick!

@@bee5464 actually, according to the creator, it could be ported to 1.4 tmod in about 1-3 months, and get an update with new content shortly after
i love how the ending looks like it didn't change much bc of how fast the weapon already is
When you use the weapon with boosted use time in the end it looks like a zenith but star. I think it would be awesome for more bosses to drop magic musical instruments, maybe even a post-moon lord equivalent to this one that shoots pillar fragments?
I was surprised myself by its performance in one of my playthroughs. I was looking for something different to try, I knew it was good, but damn.
Another important thing to note about it is the ability to fire through blocks! (albeit reducing the damage slightly)
This has to be my favorite weapon Mage weapon in all of Terraria.
Looks cool, deals TONS of damage with little issues (especially for it's point in progression)
That being said, it's obtainability is where it starts to fall apart, with a 1/50 drop chance (1/20 if you're in Expert Mode) from a fairly difficult boss which comes close to the hardest boss in Terraria
Ultimately, it's up to you if you want to go for the stellar tune or skip it for the nebula blaze
I've never actually tried this one, I liked the lantern better aesthetically. Looks really strong!
I definitely think this weapon is high on my list of mage weapons. could be second only to the razorblade. it’s supremely useful due to its projectiles going through blocks, especially in the jungle temple where it can basically explore ahead of you with its high damage and pretty decent lighting. It really does shine for the comparatively small amount of time you could use it. razorblade still reigns supreme in my heart though

I think the stellar tune is such a great weapon for late hardmode, but I do think that if you are already using the shrimpy truffel to defeat empress you might as well just get the razorblade typhoon whilst killing duke fishron. :/
When you are searching for Prismatic Lacewing, I recommend it, to do it when there’s a Blood Moon, because that incrases the spawn rates, and there will be many, many Prismatic Lacewings. (e.g once I got 23 Prismatic Lacewings from ONE Blood Moon night.)

Nightglow is a beastly weapon too (also dropped by empress of light and with 25% drop rate) and carried me through the last part of hard mode, it has low mama usage good damage for dealing with both enemies and bosses and paired up with the ghost armor it’s amazing the amount of damage you can deal
Would be interested in a video for the Flying Dragon. I just got done with a melee play through and found myself using it more than the Terra Blade. Curious to hear your thoughts on it. :)
I remember defeating Empress of Light for this weapon over and over, the boss's drops are just so amazing and bedazzling.
This is usually a must have for me in my mage playthroughs, I usually don't have many problems against the empress of light (night) so it isn't a big task for me. Well sometimes I have some trouble in the EoL fight but how it's a fun fight for me, I ignore that

The only annoying in this thing other than the drop rate is that the chords don't show up on the screen when you notice it you can't forget it

yeah its worth it, very VERY fun to use, the range is as far as your cursor and it doesnt suffer as much in the pillars as the razorblade or other mage weapons because it goes trough blocks, and as you showed, has lots of aoe and single target dps, as well as good tracking, one of my favorite weapons of all time
My favorite weapon in the game! I use it even post moonlord, and i think i’m most situations it’s even better than the nebula blaze!

I remember killing about 15 Empresses of Light with a Friend of mine to get it in our First (Classic Mode) playthrough before Moon Lord. Good times.

Could you do a video showing off the flying dragon? It's one of my favorite swords in the game, being great for practically every purpose, and is easily able to outdamage most other post-golem swords. Its projectile even passes through blocks, which is something most swords can't do.
If you ever run out of weapons have you considered doing calamity weapons? I am currently playing through it for the first time and I'm pretty lost, usually completely skipping over most weapons because I didn't know they exist or I only realise it after they are no longer viable
Can you compare the Razorblade Typhoon and the Nightglow? I wanna know which one is better since they're kinda similar
Looking great for a rare empress of light drop. And helps beat the daytime version of the same boss for the terraprisma.
It is possible to consistently get the Stellar Tune from a single EoL kill. You beat her once, save and quit, come back in, and open the bag.
If you get it, you're good.
If you don't, Alt+F4
Rinse and repeat until you have it.

I saw this idea from a site called reddit that has a fanmade weapon drop for lunatic that can swap into diff clsss weapons and the attacks are based on the lunatics attacks

Empress is always a boss I fight after plantera. It's my favorite due to the music, the attacks, and the good loot from it.
I feel like this is one of those weapons that the folks over at Thorium would enjoy turning into a Bard-class weapon whenever their mod's active on worlds
I mean it's not exactly the first time folks of a mod tweaked some Vanilla stuff, like when the Calamity mod devs turned the Gladiator set into a Rogue set of armor.
Im interested how a terraria playthrough on your channel would look like
Spectre armor and Razorblade typhoon is really good against empress.
Swap between healing and dmg, you can pretty much tank lot of empress' damage with the healing of spectre armor.
Make sure to equip a knokback resistance shield unless you'll get stuck between her fast projectiles.
I pretty much farmed all the empress' drops, pre Golam with this method. (expert mode)

gotteh say, this weapon was a hard carry for me and my buddies mastermode mage only playthrough, highly recommended.
EoL is just a good boss for major upgrades for most classes, really. kaleidoscope for melee, stellar tune for mage, soaring insignia for zoner, etc.

I remember filling out my entire arena with empress of light master mode relics before just giving up, I had gotten every drop from her at that point too and was just mentally tired. Overall solid weapon, and feeds my guitar spamming habits
Another thing to note prismatic lacewing have a better chance to spawn in the outer thirds

You know what I give up I have commented video after video about you making a video talking about the leaf blower. If I don't see the leaf blower in the next video then I'll stop asking for that gosh darn weapon...
i want to add that the nightglow is also insane. EoL is easier for me than fishron, and the nightglow deals a lot of damage to the moon lord with 0 aim and not that big a mana cost (easily deals more dps than both the nebula blaze and the razorblade typhoon)
It also synergizes like crazy with the offensive spectre set. Unlike typhoon, it shoots FOUR homing projectiles that hit more than once, and each one can trigger spectre armor. You can end up with an absolute magic bullet storm with that thing.
How did you remove the usetime on the weapons at the end of the video?
When I see the sprite of this weapon, I just can't unsee a "somewhat-a-magical-potion" instead of guitar
I just got that thinking about how good of an instrument it is cuz now I can play tunes to take down a god again not even knowing it was rare

When fighting empress of light, I would heavily recommend the witches broom as a mount instead, with the right technique, there is only one attack that is hard to dodge.
Have you ever seen the bloodrain bow? It’s like a prehardmode stormbow
I used the stellar tune in my calamity coop mage playthrough where I got it first try
Stellar Tune is absolutely a super solid weapon though it makes me wish the Axe had some kind of musical projectile like the face melter from enter the gungeon.
Got this on accident after killing empress for the 30th time. I was super excited partly because this is the weapon that zuzcorn tried to use to “charm the mechanic” lol
Just found it on my FTWMM playtrough on mobile and litterally sold it because I haven't used mage in quite a long time, I regret it but also i got the terraprisma for the first time in my life and boy it's summoner time
I was looking for the kaleidoscope and got the stellar tune twice in a row with no kaleidoscope...
One issue I find with these sorr of weapons at this stage of the game is that they are all mostly obsoleted by the nebula blaze which has insane damage
It’s also really good in pvp if you can aim. It shreds full solar flare armor in a couple of seconds.
I got it on my 5th try on my master mode mage playthrough, great for crowds too
def my favourite post plantera weapon, too nad its only 5% in vanilla (in calamity they buffed it to 33% on expert)
I actually got it on my first ever empress kill, right after 1.4 came out. I though “cool!” and didn’t think much of it, until I checked the wiki after killing it.

I love the empress of light fight, most fun fight in the game
I don’t play mage that often but empress is really easy for me basically meaning I don’t ever use it but it’s always sitting there if i want to play mage
Hands down the biggest strength of this weapon is the Solar Pillar, which let's be honest is everyone's least favourite pillar. The Stellar Tune is so good in this event because it goes through blocks and can kill those pesky Corites super easily, can't be deflected by the Selinians spin attack and even homes in on crawltipedes tails if you aim it close enough which can save you if you made a bad dodge and ended up far enough above the ground to draw their aggro. It always has a space in my hotbar for this reason alone. Only downside is it's INSANELY high mana usage but let's be honest since when does the mana flower care about that.

The weapon was absolutely underrated and the rest of the Empress of light drops are absolutely insane for its tear
i actually remember using this weapon in my first 1.4 playthrough! i was doing a mage playthrough and i fought the empress pre golem i think. honestly quite a good weapon! really fun too, i love that its a pink guitar.
the empress is my favorite boss to fight bc i love her telegraphed attacks and the fast pace of the battle. its also really easy to resummon her - without battle potions i can get 5-7 summons each night easily.
that being said, ever since 1.4.4 nerfed the queen slime mount... ive had some more troubles with her. just a bit :P

for sure its only lacking quality is that its range is limited to your cursor, other than that, its a really fantastic weapon. if somethings in range of your screen? its dead.
Fun fact: Despite having opened a bunch of Empress bags across multiple characters, it took a Calamity playthrough to get the weapon and I thought it was added by a mod
I recommend using the Witch's Broom instead of Shrimpy Truffle, as its faster and more consistent
Empress is such a cool fight that I normally do after moonlord. This time, thow, I did after golem for eventide purposes (hot take: eventide better than tsunami).
The tune suffers from the lack of drop rate, really, and the lazy mages keeping razorblade going for as long as they can.

You gotta have to have a lot of mana potions but once you have them then turn down your volume because this thing is literally one of the best mage weapons out there its one of my must in mage runs
imagine if you could get a damage buff from instrument weapons by playing certain chords together in a row which would play a song or something lol

The Empress of Light drops are all some of my favorite weapons. I just wish I were patient enough to get this one.
Edit: Betsy's Wings and the Gelatinous Pillion work really well for me dodging her, so if (like me) you find Duke Fishron more difficult, that's a great combination. Hoverboard has the same functionality as Betsy's Wings if you don't want to grind the Old One's Army, or if you want to do it pre-Golem.
my friend always makes us go out of our way to kill empress just so he can get this weapon every single playthru i dont really like it that much but he is in love with it and he can actually play some sick tunes with it other then that i gotta admit this weapon can carry you so hard duke fishron was never easier
