it's almost 2025 all countries have border lines drawn. U would think after the death, rape, starvation, destruction, and suffering that comes from conflicts and wars. You would think no country would want war. You would think countries could stop spending billions every year on weapons that kill and spend it on infrastructure, healthcare, and education. That starvation wouldn't be a real thing in this day and age when so many people throw so much food away. I know that's not the world we live in. But it should be. As long as people crave wealth and power it will always be this way and it's fucking sad and horrible.
It's honestly not a terrible ascension perk in a pinch. Pretty useful if you find yourself on the edge of serious war, but haven't had time to up your naval cap.
Speaking of power projection, Simon should do one on military logistics. The US cannot project power without its logistics system. One grunt with a gun takes 30 guys working behind the scene.
The U S has warehouses full of equipment close to known hot-spots around the world, The U S also has warehouse ships, full of equipment ready to go, to show up where there are no warehouses close by.
I would also possibly differ on an occupation being considered soft power. An occupation results from hard power and I believe is just an after effect of hard power and wouldn't be considered soft power at all.
There is an element of force projection regarding Ukraine as something of a proxy for NATO, at least post-invasion. NATO advisors did assist in warning Ukraine about Rissian movements prior to the first wave, aside from which setting aside advisors and training personnel to assist Ukraine indirectly on the warfront. I think that shipping will over arms and ammunition has assisted, albeit such an investment has always been limited to older vehicles and weapons that are deemed more or less unnecessary.
Thought-provoking but you must be able to sustain that projection in the face of opposition. China and Russia I would argue can not, they can only project power regionally yes they do have bases but that is with the forbearance of others. If the West (US and allied nations) told both, "Your days in Africa are done" there is little either could do about it.
21:16 I don’t think that is a fair attitude. Yes the U.S. can militarily dominate the world, but it does not oppress the world. We guarantee free trade and promote economic development across the world and only ask for peace in return. America is not perfect, but there has never been a more benevolent empire in history.
I would argue that you shouldn't start the historical account with Alexander the Grea but rather with the Assyrians - arguably the first "world empire" (although an argument can also be made for certain Egyptian dynasties doing power projection earlier). The Assyrians were also followed by the Babylonians - that didn't last long - and the Persians. The Persians were very good at projecting power on all their borders, and in particular into Greece. In fact, you can interpret Alexander's campaign as an attempt - that was successful beyond expectations - to stop Persian power projection in the Aegean region. It should also be said that the Macedonians were not very good with power projection. To much of their long term strategy was dependent on Alexander's charisma and military genius. The moment he died, the entire system fell apart and the armies sent to the East actually became a threat to the Macedonian homeland.

would the military response to the Korean incident when the US troops sent to cutdown a tree were killed be a textbook example of force projection?
In our polisci classes, we jokingly say that the American armed forces aren't a military; they're a logistics company that moonlights as an army.
“You’re dumb.”
Hah! Got ‘em! 😂😂😂
I cant wait till you talk about what happened recently in Iran about their President
I think it’ll be a relatively short video. Most sources do agree that it more than likely was an accident.
Oh I remember Mrs Thatcher. Go an get them boys!
1982 Proved that within one month the UK could project and sustain a military force of 30,000 troops 8,000 miles away.

Ah..11:25..even the great magnificent Mr Whistlers resolve sometimes falls victim to his own immaturity
Power projection is not a strategy, it is a capability. How you apply power projection is a strategy.
