If the United States of America were to be invaded by a foreign power, in such an aggressive way, such as what's happened in Ukraine, I genuinely feel the general tone and sentiment of what the response should be would be drastically different. Natural, of course, but the hypocrisy of my fellow countrymen is disheartening. If we were a fraction of the size economically, and militarily as say, China, and China were to invade, I'm sure we would be desperate for any help we could get; and discouraged and or angry about the lack of assistance some western civilians voice we should be giving. Wow really who could've guessed that , I don't care for Ukraine I live in Oklahoma why would I care about somewhere 3000 miles away while I have issues here ? Only privileged ppl can worry about these issues bcs they have nothing better to do
of course we would. we are Americans and in your scenario America would be under threat. it us up to us to look out for our interests. just as it is up to the Ukrainians to look out for theirs while they are under threat. that's not hypocrisy . that's actually fairness. for all people keep saying it. America and Ukraine are Explicitly NOT allies. We never became allies. they TRIED to join our alliance structure and we said NO precisely because we did not want this fight that is happening now to be ours. we are not obligated to look out for their interests. or even to care about them. and even if we were allies. we would only be obligated to do as much as whatever alliance treaty says we should do. EVERYTHING we have done for them thus far is charity. charity that I think benefits us... and that we should continue to do to be clear. I want Ukraine to win this war. I want Putin and Russia punished for their actions. I want this to resolve favorably for Ukraine... but that doesn't change the actual facts. we owe them nothing. they are not our ally. we have already done far more than we had to or should have. though clearly not as much as we could. And I do still want us to do more. WHEN we have been under attack by outside powers we HAVE been desperate for aid and angry when we didn't get it. as would anyone. but just because someone is desperate and angry. doesn't mean that anyone else owes them anything at all. much less everything. Ukraine should absolutely do whatever it can wherever it can to serve its own interests. 100% but if they want to use our tools. they need to abide by our rules. and it isn't in our interest to risk nuclear apocalypse to save a country that would also disappear in the nuclear fireball should we guess wrong. Ukraine may be more willing to take risks than we are. understandably. they have a lot more to lose if they don't and at the most extreme end don't lose much more than they would otherwise if they are wrong. but we have a lot to lose if they guess wrong... and very little to gain. so again. if they want our help. they use OUR standards. not theirs. if they want to go it alone they can do whatever the hell they please. now if we get to my personal policy preferences. I say that they should be able to hit anything that is used to harm them total war style and that I doubt Putin will rain nukes on countries they aren't actively fighting while the one they are fighting is right there to be hit. I don't think Putin wants to end the world. nor do I believe he would be willing to. but he might be willing to nuke Ukraine itself. again total war style. but I don't think that benefits him. nor do I think us encouraging Putin to go there benefits Ukraine either. however. if that is a risk Ukraine wants to take. then so be it is my outlook. Perhaps the most worrisome part about all the global conflict currently, is most people are downplaying red lines, tit for tats are boiling over, so you have to imagine at some point as you suggested a red line will be crossed that can’t be undone. We are sleepwalking into major escalation.
If the average age of the Russian fighters wasn't hovering at 50 and the vast majority of their equipment wasn't refurbished out of emptying storage yards, it'd be worrisome, true. If Iran had a strong army and the support of its people, if NK equipment wasn't ancient and poorly maintained, if China had actually participated in any of this instead of just war profiteering and scoring political points but by and large doing its own thing, (which is the actual worrying part,) it'd be worrying. But as it is, there is no great escalation to have, so no, it's not particularly worrying.
@ Also consider the fact that Kim Jong Un ordered his own country’s military into Russia to either aid and advise Russians on their equipment, or directly fight. This is not a decision that’s made to “rattle sabers” with the west. It’s direct action to defeat a nato ally.
The thing is if red lines were extreme enough in this case china india and Brazil would have their own things to say about it. They also have their own nuclear stockpiles and they can also threaten Russia if they truly turned into a rogue state
Vladimir Putin draws red lines with all the credibility of Kamun-Ra trying to stop Ben Stiller's character from touching his magic tablet in the second Night at the Museum movie.

I imagine the DPRK is sending troops in as opportunity to give some of them some combat in order to learn and take it back. They don't have any combat experience.
I doubt any of those troops are making it back alive and won't be sharing their experiences with others. Only the advisors will be alive to report back to the DPRK and Kim Jon Fatty will just send more trips to the meat grinder for more money to support his bad habits and the lifestyles of the elites.
0:00 Russian nuclear threats 11:13 North Korean troops in Ukraine war 21:26 G7 approves loans of frozen Russian money to Ukraine 32:10 Terror attack on Turkish aerospace firm by DKK
How viable would it be to sieze unofficial Russian assets? Not too long ago there was a video discussing the Russian shadow fleet. I'm assuming it's not possible for a variety of reasons but it would be interesting for governments to look into siezing the barely hidden assets that Russia has abroad.
The Ukraine will use the money to purchase weapons and assets from the US/EU/UK. So, in essence, the money goes back to the G7 while the products go to battlefield.
In that case, the funds never actually leave the Western country-- figures just get moved around on spreadsheets, and only equipment and munitions actually make the trip.
Regarding the situation in Turkish Kurdistan, a point worth discussing might be that the Democratic People’s Party, the main representative of the Kurdish electorate, is straying farther and farther away from the PKK with which it had deep connections. The divide goes as far back as the subtle call from the party’s leader for the organisation to disarm following their entry to the National Assembly in 2014 (fact check me on that date). Since the subsequent imprisonment of the party leader Demirtas on terrorism charges (as a way to neuter the newly victorious party), relations were back to cordial, and yet today it seems like the party and its electorate enjoys representation and being a decisive power in local and general elections, while the PKK seems to fall more and more out of fashion. In this context, the latest announcements from the AKP government and its ally in MHP (National Movement Party) may also be considered as a way to force the Democratic Peoples Party to distance itself more, and more publicly from the PKK, clearing the way for a new offensive that would have more political backing, decreasing the risks of a political loss during future elections, in the case of the PKK refusing to accept the terms of a deal and disarm. TLDR; the Turkish government may be feinting a resolution deal with the PKK, which the organisation may not accept, in order to isolate it more on the political landscape.
9:13 "At some point there will be a line ... " There doesn't have to ever be a line. There are two possible nuclear strategies: nuclear deterrence and nuclear blackmail. In nuclear deterrence, you specify very few conditions (possibly only one) to which you would respond with nuclear omnicide, and you do whatever it takes to make a credible commitment to respond under those circumstances. In other words, you draw a red line. Any actual benefit you get from your nuclear arsenal takes place at lower levels of the hierarchy of threat. Your adversaries can't credibly threaten to make a nuclear first strike over something that's only moderately significant to them, because they know you would respond. So you can be more credible if you threaten to do that moderately-significant thing as a deterrent to something else, and the balance on that threat affects yet another level of less-significant things, grounding out in a difference on the issues you actually haggle over in day-to-day diplomacy. In nuclear blackmail, by contrast, you apply the threat of nuclear omnicide directly to whatever issue you're talking about that day. It's not very credible, but maybe you can convince your adversary that you might not be particularly attached to the idea of continuing to exist in a form other than radioactive vapor, and that you just might be that fanatical about the particular issue you're making the threat over, so that your adversary decides it's not worth the risk. In other words, you draw a fake red line, every time you feel like getting a little extra leverage on a quotidian issue. These two options are incompatible. The more fake lines you draw, the harder it is to credibly draw a real one. Putin has heavily committed to the second option. Switching to deterrence would be a wrenching change. As long as his current approach seems to be working, even a little, he probably won't switch. It is possible to keep on letting it work a little, and have Russia lose decisively. We have to keep hesitating just enough, and then doing just a little less than would actually be in our interests if each step were evaluated in isolation -- but still crossing the fake red lines eventually, and still doing enough to eventually bring Russia to the point where unconditional surrender looks like their least-bad option, followed by nuclear disarmament in exchange for a new Marshall Plan. It's certainly not easy. We probably won't. But it is possible.
I personally find their Sarmat 2 very interesting in it's use. It's a strong nuclear missile that explodes inside it's silo when it tries to launch. Truly Russia is on another level of nuclear capability.
10,000 NK troops can't make a difference on the front lines. Given the thousands of troops Russia loses every week, that number would be spent in a matter of 3-4 weeks. Considering the NK ability and training, I give that half the amount of time as standard Russian troops drafted and taken from prisons already.
If they NK troops cost significantly less than Russian soldiers, then it could make Russian losses more sustainable if they keep ordering more and more soldiers from the hermit kingdom.
Im amazed that DPRK has the logistics to het their soldiers to the front...big stretch of land in between and last time i checked the Hermit Kingdom wasn't very invested in heavy air lift of other key logistics

Boy those next generation bombers and missiles (which if i were a betting man, I'd say still require a heavy amount of r&d) are gonna be expensive. Seems difficult for a nation with an absolutely baloonign defense budget to manage on the long term. Reminds me of a certain Soviet nation in the 80's.
Putin just told a press conference the T-90 was the best tank in the world, so what he says is absurd.
@@zulubeatz1 ah, so they are not even pretending the T-14 Armata is real anymore i seen xp
Can’t get enough of Simon
Well you're in luck! The man has more RUclips channels than VEVO.
@ Ahah yes I know! I follow mainly Biographics (how I found him in the first place), Side Projects, this one, and Megaprojects
@@KihvaOMG yes 😂😂😂
Its like the people who, when threatened with a fist fight , they threaten to shoot you.
Simon is safe in his nuclear bunker. His handlers keep him there just in case.
Where are you ? Safe in your Moscow apartment ?

Why isn’t the “western world “ doing something or at least talking about thinking about doing something like they usual do?
Could the US election play a factor in it which basically cripples Europe .. why is there response?
Great work Team!
Love the Ian M. Banks reference. The culture series is awesome
13:33 dear editor, music is distractingly loud at times. I normally wouldnt complain but this time it was particularly loud. I understand sometimes volumes can get wonky during the render, otherwise BRAVO
Is there something in the air? Water? People are acting crazy.
So many people in different countries maybe need a snickers.
Simon is prodigious
nobody ever doubted Russias ability to launch a missile..
but we all doubt their ability to maintain fissionable material and triggering mechanisms..
Great stuff. Thanks Simon.
A Veteran
Well, I'll worry about Russia's nuclear sabre when they manages to test a nuclear warhead again.
20:10
Meanwhile American politicians are arguing on what bathrooms you are and are not allowed to use. There will be dark days ahead.
In the pockets of oligarchs that money will definitely make a difference.😂😂😂
Bravo on the Red Dwarf reference!
Somebody should just tell them we had our Vietnam we packed up and went home, they should just say it's their Vietnam pack up and go home😮
If they actually have nukes, why haven't they tested them on Nova Zembla yet? seems like it would massively boosts your legitimacy.
Novaya Zemlya
Russia has some weird views on the rest of the world.
Sorry to say but towards the end of the vudeo it sounded like Simon was struggling with his voice? Hope you are ok Simon, its ok to have a day off 💪🏻
You’d think Putin’s arms would be getting tired from all the nuclear saber-rattling he does.
i imagine its one of those cheap sabers where the blade isnt screwed in fully causing it to rattle when swung about
"I am big strong Russian man, rattling saber only make arm stronger!"
I wouldn’t even think about it if I were Putin
Thank you Simon, very cool!
They will not make it back
SK is getting good intel on NK soldiers capabilities.
We've been roastin' their military armament for so long, they had to convince themselves that the stuff still works
For all his talk about his big missiles, he exudes the same tiny missile energy that Cheetolini gives off.
Russia cries wolf ....daily
Simon look absolutely fancy. Love your channels ♥️ and loving this one already
28:06 That's a gorgeous table right there
Nice culture reference, bit of a deep cut but i appreciated it
Putin: hey guys, here is a fresh nothing burger!
Simon is the type of guy who kisses his alarm clock goodnight.
*inhales sharply*
Does Putin not know that the USA has nukes as well as Russia?

How viable would it be to sieze unofficial Russian assets?
Not too long ago there was a video discussing the Russian shadow fleet. I'm assuming it's not possible for a variety of reasons but it would be interesting for governments to look into siezing the barely hidden assets that Russia has abroad.
When I can't sleep, I just start counting ruzzian red lines and fall asleep immediately 😂
This man referenced Iain M. Banks book series and Red Dwarf in one sentance, I tip my hat to a fellow nerdlord.
Definitely the writer not Simon I doubt Simon had, any idea what he was saying.
Nice Iain M Banks reference. Did Simon actually know it?
Just surprised the things actually got off the ground.
had heard nothing about that yet, but I also limit my news consumption at the moment
He dose. There called Romulus and Rimulus 😂😂😂
11:13 what about their threat to invade Ukraine?
Russia says blah blah nuclear blah 😆😅🤣😂 United States says we dont need to threaten.
I wonder how many of those missiles detonated on launch
The Ukraine will use the money to purchase weapons and assets from the US/EU/UK. So, in essence, the money goes back to the G7 while the products go to battlefield.
In that case, the funds never actually leave the Western country-- figures just get moved around on spreadsheets, and only equipment and munitions actually make the trip.
How many channels do you have now, fact boy?
It’s kinda cringe honestly. Like smells of desperation
Begging for help!!! Where have we seen that before 🤔
Regarding the situation in Turkish Kurdistan, a point worth discussing might be that the Democratic People’s Party, the main representative of the Kurdish electorate, is straying farther and farther away from the PKK with which it had deep connections.
There doesn't have to ever be a line.
Rusty Venture ❤'s that kool-aid
Subtext: Putin knows the weird orange man isn't going to be in a position to gift wrap the Ukraine for him.
I personally find their Sarmat 2 very interesting in it's use. It's a strong nuclear missile that explodes inside it's silo when it tries to launch.
Truly Russia is on another level of nuclear capability.
Lol
don't be ignorant
10,000 NK troops can't make a difference on the front lines. Given the thousands of troops Russia loses every week, that number would be spent in a matter of 3-4 weeks. Considering the NK ability and training, I give that half the amount of time as standard Russian troops drafted and taken from prisons already.
If they NK troops cost significantly less than Russian soldiers, then it could make Russian losses more sustainable if they keep ordering more and more soldiers from the hermit kingdom.
How many losses might North Korea sustain in the Russo-Ukraine War just from defections?
No, but there's a lot more where those came from.
Im amazed that DPRK has the logistics to het their soldiers to the front...big stretch of land in between and last time i checked the Hermit Kingdom wasn't very invested in heavy air lift of other key logistics
I pretty much given up on all mainstream media, and go with guys like Simon and others these days online who provide us with so much better information, without all the dumb down bulshit or partisan politics
All you did was stop watching mainstream propaganda for youtube propaganda. We've all been there but you'll learn in do time.
Lol. Where do you think Simon’s team gets their info from? You think they are out there calling up all the primary sources to get it all direct? Nope, 90% of this channel’s info is just copied off or largely guided by mainstream media reports.
"I stopped reading mainstream media so I could watch a guy who solely qouted mainstream media for everything he says"
Wait was that reference to Iain M Banks " The Culture"!?
I'm guessing most of us did not expect North Korea to send troops to Europe.
Fact boi!

As old KGB ,Putin knows the only hard and fast rule of nuclear weapons. YOU CANNOT EVER USE THEM. You use one, for whatever reason, everybody freaks out and uses theirs. At which point bottle caps become coin of choice.
