Congrats on the babies! It's actually less stressful to put your baby chameleon in their forever home from the beginning so then they are not having to be transported and get adjusted to a new home. Chameleons have no issue hunting for food in the rain forests of Madagascar and I have never had a healthy chameleon be unable to find their food in a 24x24x48" enclosure. Additionally, having a 48" tall enclosure will allow you to have the correct UVI levels and gradients that a chameleon requires. Because you're using and recommending smaller enclosures, the UVB bulb will need to be raised above the enclosure to provide the correct UVI levels. Love the branches that you picked out. 88-90 is much too hot for a panther chameleon and definitely for a baby. Babies should have a basking temp in the low 80s MAX. Chameleons should never always have a bulb on even if it does get cold. A ceramic heat emitter would be recommended in cold situations since they don't produce light. Pro tip: you can make your own dripper by rinsing out a milk gallon or something similar and poking a hole in the bottom with a push pin and putting that on top of the enclosure. Can't wait to see these little guys grow up :)
Love your videos Kristen! You clearly have so much love for your animals. I have a pair of panthers myself! While I agree that small enclosures can be “okay” while they’re young, I don’t think they are necessary. Chams tend to do just fine when put straight into their big enclosures, they have great natural instincts for hunting down their food. While small cages aren’t a problem when they’re young, it’s definitely a problem when chameleon owners don’t upgrade their cage soon enough, and it comes up quick! Males at 6 months old need a full size 4x2x2 enclosure, and that usually means you’ll need to upgrade the size of the uvb lights as well. Screen climbing is pretty normal when they’re first exploring their new environment, but if it persists then it’s definitely a sign that the cage is too small. While small cages aren’t a huge problem, it’s definitely an unnecessary expense as you’ll need to upgrade the cages in a few months. It only becomes a problem when Cham owners delay the upgrade. I really wish you would have let your viewers know how long you’ll be using the temporary cages for and the appropriate sizes when it’s time for an upgrade. If you ever get the chance to watch the “Neptune the chameleon” video on “cages” I highly recommend it and it’s only 5 mins long. Her videos are great, they’re well researched, and preach the golden standard for chameleon husbandry.
after youve had these babies for a bit id love to know how caring for the baby chams are different from a fully grown one. like feeding wise, personality, stuff like that
The various branch sizes is an amazing tip! Not a lot of people mention that. I love that you used branches from outside too! Something that pet stores probably won’t tell you to do.
varying branch sizes and shapes are also important for birds, because it helps to prevent arthritis since they are actively using the full range of motion with their feet more. if you have just some wooden dowels that are uniform size then the bird will spend the majority of their time holding their feet in one shape which can cause long term problems.
Another Chammy owner here :) I would be very carefully with the moss covered sticks, although the are advertised towards Chams they harbor a lot of bacteria esp when misting the tank. But love you channel (:
@@devium Kristen has the worst absolute knowledge of chameleons and their care and it isn’t a coincidence Zeppelin died from liver failure. Kristen’s baseline chameleon husbandry is awful. She needs an intervention from people who can educate her to even a basic level of chameleon husbandry knowledge. She doesn’t need to adopt 2 more chameleons. JFC.
@@devium yeah she literally is including things in a small cage that can cause issues. For example mossy vines can cause impaction and/or easily be a breeding ground for bacteria and fungus due to the high humidity levels which leads to many health issues in chameleons
Honestly that’s pretty harsh to blame Zeppelin’s liver failure on Kristen. Sometimes things just happen and no one is to blame. I do think she does need to update her husbandry just a bit (add live plants, upgrade the enclosure, adjust the temperature, etc. etc.), insulting her is probably just going to result in her ignoring you rather than taking advice.
Holy sh*t I used to be like in love w this chick. Had a huge poster of her back tattoo. This woman was like my dream girl . Hahaha I was just recommended this channel and wicked surprised to see her beautiful face again havent seen for ever. Wonder she still doing modeling? Didnt know about the RUclips channel and animal stuff

Dude, I really fkn love how you love & tk care of your animals...like i didn't know how to clean all that-also the wood in the oven like dude you really go all out..& the lil baby & her mitts so cute! She's living it up lol😆💚
I have been wanting a chameleon for so long so I am LIVING for these 😍 I’ve wanted once since before you had Zep, I miss him and those videos as well. SO EXCITED FOR YOU GIRL can’t wait to see these babies grow up ☺️
Hey Girl! Love you!! 🥰 So sorry for the loss of beautiful Zeplin!! 💔 He was gorgeous. Also, they need a T5 High Output 5.0 uvb, (6% for Arcadia bulbs). Up in the comments above you listed a T8 bulb, 🧐 that's not correct. Please use a T5 only!!! 🙏 You are using T5 right?
You should totally use the big cage, go bio active, get real plants, longer uvb bulb also the T5, use a feeder cup attached to the side(just look up how to make one very simple) and put bugs in for each feeding your baby cham will find them I promise. 😊 best of luck
I don’t think over misting is as much of a concern as under misting. So I wouldn’t worry about over misting as long as you have something to collect the water at the bottom. That’s why live plants are so great. Live plants also keep the humidity high. You can easily spot clean every day or every other day, it takes like 2 seconds b/c chameleons aren’t that messy. I sanitize the bottom with some vinegar and water once a week or so. If you have questions about chameleons, the Neptune the Chameleon channel here on RUclips gives A+ advice and covers just about every topic under the sun.
If you haven't heard of her you should check out Reptilian Garden. She has two Panthers as well and has enclosure building and care. She's really great!
Please do way more research on chameleon husbandry before you show your large audience your enclosure. Many things are wrong and it will encourage others to make the same mistakes
@@avatarno1defender multiple things besides the one you listed. Not enough real plants, the types of vines, the coverage, the design, the lighting, to name a few.

I also feel like they are so fragile that they wouldn’t survive being mistreated or neglected and unfortunately probably pass away before people could try to adopt or rescue them. Along with like you said their price.
That wasn’t too difficult to build. I had bought a baby Chinese water dragon in 2018 but unfortunately unbeknownst to me, he was sick when I bought him, and passed away 30 days later. You’ve got me thinking if I should try another lizard. Ps- Your little ones are so cute 😍
I need help I just got a baby panther 4 weeks old. It won’t eat ... or drink today I’m not sure why I don’t know if it’s Bc he just arrived but it’s worrying me so much please help ....
These cages are so small they’re making me cringe! Especially because I know there’s some irresponsible people out there watching this thinking they can get a chameleon and put it in this size of a cage for the rest of its life. I really think you missed a step in educating your viewers on when they need to upgrade their cages. You really need to let them know that this is not an appropriate size for the entirety of the chameleon’s life. Because there’s really some dumb people out there who will think that they can get away with a cheap small cage. If I were you I would return these both because they’re just way way way too small. Chameleons don’t have any problem finding food in the wild with infinite space, and they really don’t have a hard time finding food in a large cage either. That’s just a bad rumor that needs to be put to rest.
the size enclosure is not always true. I have a 24x24x48 for my younger chameleon and as long as you cup feed instead of letting the insects roam free the size of the enclosure is perfectly fine as long as there is foliage. It saves a lot of money as well because they grow quickly
