Exotic fruits are pretty common in our household.
Just FYI: Rambutan is red when it is fresh. Dark brown means it's old, so the flavor is going to be different (and not in a good way). Even ripe, however, it is a very mild fruit (not our favorite). It will not ripen once off the tree.
Starfruit tastes amazing when it's more orange with darker edges (as you described). Sweet, flavorful and very juicy.
Cactus Pears come in a number of varieties. Our favorite is the large green ones, which have a fresh, juicy melon flavor. The others we find pretty bland. Don't chew the seeds, just basically squish it around inside your mouth and swallow everything. We can eat those by the buckets.
Lychees are our #1 fruit, but there are a number of varieties and they are all slightly different. Our local big box store carries the worst tasting lychee possible. They should be completely sweet (and yes, floral), with no brown on the skin (that means they are old) and they should feel like they almost have a bounce to them when you press on them. If they give, they are old. And they taste terrible when they are old. They do not ripen once off the tree. We open them by peeling the stem at the top (then we suck the juice out before it spills - the best part!) and then peel or even crack the skin down the lychee. They taste best when refrigerated.
Persimmons in our household are preferred crunchy. We eat them like apples, skin and all. Never knew people didn't eat the skin.
It would be great to have more videos that talk about different varieties of produce, including different varieties of vegetables like tomatoes or carrots etc. They all taste different and can be used for different purposes (especially tomatoes). These can often be found at farmer's markets and can add take vegan dishes to the next level. The varieties we are used to in stores are not there because of flavor or quality, but because it does well mass-produced and sits well on the shelves. The more we are aware of the amazing varieties out there (just look up apples for example) then hopefully that will create more demand for quality products that actually taste like the fruit was meant to taste like.

My grandmother would make me sit to eat them because she was so scared I’d choke on the pit and Puerto Rican grandmothers are so paranoid to begin with. This was so much fun to watch! I'd never heard of donut peaches until I moved to Germany a few years ago, but now they're one of my favorites. I'm glad you liked them too. I had one at home already, so after watching the video I tried the trick where you push the pit through to make a hole, and it worked! Maybe the peach needs to be riper.
I'd love to see more of these videos. If you can find one, I recommend trying a pomelo. It's kind of like a giant grapefruit, but it's sweeter and pale yellow. Another one I first ate in Germany!

The persimmon should be soft and jelly like on the inside. They are incredibly sweet. If they are picked too soon in the wild, they can make the inside of your mouth pucker. I believe they have to be picked after the first frost. The star fruit should have been a little riper as well, I think. I would have waited to slice that until the spines were browner and the fruit was a golden yellow. I LOVED this video and would love to see more. I also think the pear cactus might not have been completely ripe. The ones I have had have been very sweet. Please do more taste tests like this but I also love your regular videos.

I think persimmons are best tasting when they are ripe to a pudding like consistency. Like the skin starts to dent when you pick it up. Especially with hachiya persimmons, since they are very astringent and bitter when not fully ripe. I do prefer fuyu though. Last fall I made a lot of persimmon preserves.

Absolutely obsessed with passion fruit- but the ones I grew up with in Jamaica have a yellow outer shell, not purple/red. I used to bite them open and just eat the inside. My aunt used to bring bags of them, and I'd go through a dozen in a seating, easily. I never chewed the seeds. Just slurp. Tamarind is called tamarind in Jamaica.
Also, guineps are the bomb! Ya'll making me miss my trips to Jamaica.

Wow cactus pears bring me back. I grew up eating these all the time. My fave was always the green ones. They’re super juicy and crisp! They’re best and cheapest at a Mexican market.

Korean Melon, Eating the skin together is very effective in constipation.
    also eat seeds and pulp.
There are many different melons in Korea.
In particular, frog pattern korean melons are famous.

That prickly pear was definitely not ripe. These grow wild on my island and they are delicious. All those spots have very tiny prickly needles. They are so small that u can feel them in ur fingers but u can barely see them. To get them off we burn them and then cut in half n scoop or just bit into it. The tamarind is something I want to try now. Thanks guys

Flew from Canada to Philippines And wow the fruits and veggies I never seen before. And ones i had in Canada like Banana But tasted nothing like the ones in the Philippines...There is a process They do in North America with Banana's right before they go to a store They are put in a Gas chamber which makes them Turn from Green to yellow with a faster time (4 to 6 days) Then they are shipped out The gas does infact change the taste ..One of the limes in Philippines is called Calamansi Not like a North American lime The only thing close to it would be a Key Lime However it is a touch sweeter And many people use it for pork And other dishes And drinks And a huge list of others ..

I eat persimmons when in season, with the skin. Ripe fruit often has brown spots in them, it's just the sugars in them so nothing to worry about.

the green tunas (cactus pear) are definitely more delicious! I don't really try to bite through the seeds I just kinda swallow it after some chewing lol. but they are so juicy and refreshing. be careful handling the skin though, there are tiiiiny prickley thorns still on them

Star fruit is universal you can put in a fruit salad or green salad 🥗 😋 and you can eat whole you have had a green one leave it in a paper bag for two days should taste sweeter at the end of the Ripening process. P.s we also call our star fruit ( carambola ). You have to eat when it turns yellow

Andrew makes reference to living in Jamaica but I feel like he remembers nothing 😂😂😂😂 Tamarind balls are popular after school snacks for young children. Passion fruit grows wild all over the country. Guineps are a whole treat when you're eating a dozen at a time😂😂
