the cooking and learning about your culture in a “real” way. it’s boring to read about a country’s history, but tangents and footage of grocery stores and glimpses of streets and buildings and stuff, blin so fascinating!

    • the cooking is informative and hilarious
    • gaming is a core part of my life and it's nice seeing you bestowing your personality onto the game. Not just playing the game.
    • the comedy aspect is the main draw. Your always hilarious and silly. People are too serious as of late.

What I found interesting was just getting to know Slavic culture in a funny, self-aware way. Imagine a Russian guy finding a RUclips channel where some crazy American from Florida or Louisiana teaches you how to cook alligator or driving a pickup truck through a swamp. Because of you I tried Tatratea (delicious) and made pelmeni (didn't mince the onions enough), made kissel, started eating semichki, and am strongly considering buying a Russian carpet for my car or wall. I would have never known about all these cool Slavic things without you, Boris. If you are trying to figure out what you are I'd say you are a Slavic Brand Ambassador. If you want more video ideas I'd say make more videos about differences between the Englosh speaking world and eastern European culture.

All those things COMBINED bring to life the true gopnik experience that really is something unique and highly entertaining! :D

Your sense of humor, especially combined with cooking is a big draw.
Your cooking, especially when combined with your sense of humor is possibly even a bigger draw.
Your chemistry with Artyom adds like 1,000% boost to any scene you're both in.
There's something special and difficult to explain about the novelty of how you represent Slavic culture.

    • @kiruuttori8539

To me it was absolutely this, cooking combined with humour was the thing that at least hooked me to this channel. Videos like the axe cooking , birthday waffle iron or triple french pork were great. Though I do think that the slav tips (like the hangover or 7 ways to make noodles) might have originally brought me here. Of course I do also like the country reviews, but the humour and the food are what bought me here. I don't know how much Boris still likes to do them, but I hope he does. This is because they are educational, but also funny and you can watch them almost regardless of what you are doing or how do are feeling at the moment. There truly are some masterpieces out there.

(Ultimately, do what makes you happy. I can tell that you’re going though a rough patch currently, so it’s most important that you take the time to take care of yourself. It may be tempting to try to burry yourself in your work, and maybe a distraction would help you, but do take time to breath and reflect. There’s no point grinding yourself into the ground. Keep breathing, Boris.)

What keeps me coming back to this channel is that you showcase your culture, your Gopnik video made me subscribe bc of how funny, sarcastic, and informative it was. Also the videos where you taught us different phrases in Russian. The cooking videos are really great and some of my favorites on this channel, I think it would also be really fun to see you try out other recipes from other cultures and countries (like that one time with the cheesecake!). Country reviews are also a big hit, but I realize with the global climate surrounding the war it may not be feasible and that's understandable. Most of all, we appreciate you Boris and wish you the best :)

What brought me to this channel in the first place was your style and sense of humour. What KEPT ME coming back was in part that but mostly the revelation that your recipes actually work. Not just work, they're good. What seems very mundane to you (the type of mayonnaise/mustard that you use, how babushka marinades pork, doing anything with pickle juice but pouring it down the sink, all of that) was a complete revalation to me here in Ireland. I'd never heard of doktor's sausage, you introduced me to that. I'd never heard of pork neck but my butcher in Ireland was thrilled to supply it and it was delicious, you introduced me to that too. Hell, take me on a supermarket tour, I'd watch an entire video about a slavic condiments aisle. The mundanities of your life are a revelation to me. Also, if you could raid your babushka's stock of recipes and share more of them (even the simplest thing, how to make a pickle, is exotic to many of us) that would be great. And you've talked about her garden, I'd love a tour of that too. And don't let not having a kitchen be a problem, I'm bored as hell with youtubers with perfect kitchens. 'How to cook in a bathroom' is much more interesting.

The first ever Life of Boris video I saw was the "vodka cooled PC." I clicked on the video expeting it to be just another wonky tech tinkering kind of video, but instead, it was a whole new level of awesome randomness. Instantly got hooked. Very cheeki breeki!
Started off with that, and then went on to see you teach us stuff like how to squat like a slav (heels touch the ground when slavs squat around), what a 'gopnik' actually is, how to speak Russian and Australian, and then the most delicious slav recipes and hilarious country reviews. You showed the world what slav culture looks like in a very fun, interactive way. I would very much like to see more of that. And also you playing games like the space program one (those are hilarious)
Boris, to us, you are not just another youtuber. You are family. You are our big brother Boris who looks after us and teaches us how to and how not to do complete pizdet of our life. i came to this channel for two reasons. Primarily, you made me feel like i was a friend, a part of a community of folks learning together, playing together, drinking together and laughing together. That sort of feeling, like coming into a warm home out of the cold, is what made me stay. the second reason was YOU in particular. You're proud, boisterous, funny, and never mean or hateful. you're a friend to all three million of us, boris. I hope that the rough things YT has been doing to you cede, and that we can hold strong and be friends again. Cheers, and may your Kvass never go bad.

Not just any book, but The Devils by Fyodor Dostoevsky
Zakuski was mentioned in one scene, and the endnotes simply said, "snack you eat while drinking," but I wanted to know more! So I typed "zakuski" in the search bar and BOOM, your Slav Snacks video came up, and the rest was history. Subscribed and shared with my friends. We even had vodka and some of the slav snacks you mentioned for fun.

Well, I initially came upon your channel through "How to slav your car". At the time it hadn't reached 1 mil yet. I checked some other videos, fell in love instantly with the brilliance of all the cooking videos ( the usefulness of the information combined with your brand of humor ) and loved your sense of humor as well which made the gaming videos extremely enjoyable to watch.
I am sorry you're having a rough go at it nowadays due to RUclips bullshit creator restrictions and algorythms but I trust that you are already aware of the unique following you have managed to gather and that, for better or worse, they will all still continue to stand by you ( maybe not 3 million of them, but do numbers really matter when 90% of videos get demonetised anyway? ).
Keep up the good work and try to take as much pleasure out of this as possible. The second it starts to feel as more of a chore and less of a passion is usually a bad sign.

You have consistently kept a standard of quality and even in these rough times you still continue to be entertaining.. As for the future content for this channel I'd say maybe gaming with light amounts of cooking since your kitchen is unavailable much like your battleship in that one world of warships video.
