Economy trip reports are the best. They are so great because most of the first class trip reports are on airlines that I will never fly. Economy is the airline class that most people fly on. I want to see reviews of what is accessible to me. That is what I appreciate about this trip report

The next economy week should be on airlines that are really really bad. Spirit, Allegiant, and Frontier look the most comparable.
I will never ever fly Allegiant unfortunately. Their 60 minutes episode exposes some terrible security flaws - you should check it out!
However Allegiant has never lost a passenger, unlike some other U.S airlines

I flew from LHR to EWR on one of United’s newer 767’s, and it was amazing. The crew were friendly, this one had inflight entertainment, all in all a great flight.

You shed light on aspects of United I either don't experience or flat out ignore I don't know which. I just have a really strong emotional attachment to United Airlines.
Great to see the United domestic 777-200. I'll be flying that aircraft from Dublin to Newark in June but I made sure I selected one of the back row seats, row 50A, looks like I made a good choice!
Try to get row 48 if possible! Otherwise, 50 should still be better than the rows of 3 :D
Dantorp Aviation I think those seats are gone now. Regular economy is almost fully booked out on that flight. Is there any noticeable difference between 50A & 48A?

Last time I flew United economy was back in 2000, way back then United were just introducing the 777 on to its trans Atlantic routes. I can remember that the movie selection was pretty basic - there was a bond movie - The World Is Not Enough and Stewart Little for the kids. Once I was done with the movies I had it on the plane/ATC broadcast and following the route on the TV. I can remember the attendants being overworked and a little stressed out by the time we got to Heathrow.
I’ve flown with United 4 times and all have been so different, some were really good, and some definitely not so much.

Very well done
United has cut back on almost all of the domestic route entertainment systems. Tho I have to say, after a few flights just providing my own entertainment, I tried the streaming through their app and it was honestly as good as having the big screen in the seat back. It might actually be better b/c there is less of that inescapable glare when you’re trying to relax.
What they really need on the seat is a holder or at least a good spot to set down an iPhone or iPad.

I was a Continental FA pre merger. Miss that airline soooooo much!
As for IFE, their international 777's all have personal seat back screens. And on that domestic flight, even though there were no screens, you can still stream to your device.

in 2018, I flew United from DUB-EWR, same problem, no inflight entertainment screen! all movies usually on the entertainment screen can be accessed through the United app though

I strangely have always had good experiences with united- even upgrades! On one of their older 757s going from JFK to SFO had broken Ife so they gave everybody free food!

Great review. On the long haul flights I have been on the food hasn't been to great and I have been on a lot of long haul flights. However your main course actually looked good. I love watching flight reviews mainly because I love to look at the seat and the food on each aircraft over the different classes.

about a month ago I flew on a United 757-200 from SFO-EWR and it had a brand-new cabin (I think we may have been the first flight with this interior since our flight was delayed because the aircraft was late out of the hangar!) and a great, brand-new IFE. The seats were nice and slimline and the entertainment choice was better than it seemed to have been for you...
I was seated in economy plus, to be fair, and they had complimentary breakfast! first time I've ever been served a meal on a plane, and I have to say I wasn't disappointed.

I've only flown United twice (LHR - LAX). The first flight was great, very friendly smiley flight attendants, one even joked around with me. My return flight, however, was pretty standard and no flight attendants really stuck out to me in their service. United operates the 787 on the London to Los Angeles route which is great being it's quite a long flight so you get some extra comfort.

the 787 is one of the most uncomfortable aircraft out there.
I disagree, the 787 has mood lighting which reduces jet lag and also the cabin I find is always at a more comfortable temperature compared to other aircraft. Not the mention that the 787 is quieter than most aircraft. Older aircraft unlike the 787 don't have as good thermostats which means the temperature often isn't as comfortable as the 787.

the mood lighting literally has nothing to do with reducing jet lag. the dreamliner is able to simulate a lower altitude than other aircraft with regards to pressurization. that's why you don't feel so jet lagged after an 18hr flight. apex.aero/2015/12/10/turning-down-the-cabin-pressure
Thank you for your input. I think that 787 has quite a few features that make it stand out from other aircraft. The ambient light in the 787 changes colour during your journey, in an attempt to help your body clock readjust to your destination’s time zone (mood lighting). When you board the plane, you are greeted with a reasonably white light, to help you get your bags in the overhead locker and settle into your seat. From then onwards, your mind (specifically melanopsin) is being manipulated by the lighting to prepare you for the timezone at your destination.
Please do an economy week featuring Finnair, Lufthansa and SAS :)

I just have a land yard that I can go through security it helps me where I’m only 8 and as well I live in London so it’s super busy
Hi Dan, it would be helpful if you are doing a 3-direct-competitors-review, why not to post a final grading table so as to know exactly where to expect better service in a certain aspect or stage of the flight, for example: final grade: cost/benefit - 7. Service. 8, on board value- 6, seat - 4, etc. That way one can compare from one to another and decide which one to buy.

Wow, united has a pretty eh product. I flew an ancient 777 to hawaii once (im not going to lie put it may have been the first one ever delivered it was so old) and it was a pretty eh experience. It was cold but their was great legroom (i am younger then most but and they did upgrade us to Eco+) but we had to wait 11 hours for our flight!!!!!! We were supposed to fly a 767-400ER witch i was super pumped about because it is one of my favorite planes but the door was dented and they had to ferry the 777 from SFO.... i know how they could have made it way better but yeah whatever. Amazing video! I love this series!

To/from LIM to/from USA, Delta and United are by far the best options. AA has a terrible service to Lima on an old configuration on their 767 and 757.
Can’t wait to see Boeing’s replacement for the 757 which is not far away now!

I flew on one of their Domestic 777s from New York to Hawaii, it was a 10 and a half hour flight, but sense it was a Domestic flight, United got away with the no IFE and food you had to pay for

United’s 757s and some older 767s have the old IFE systems. The international 777s have the newer system, almost identical to American’s. It’s so much better than the old one.

hi daniel, i am taking a trip to europe and was wondering which airline is better: ryanair or easyjet
8:28 i can relate last break i was on a flight from dc to denver and de iceing took for ever we were on the runway for about 2 and a half hours (about half the flight time) geting de iced and the flight crew were so nice they let people stand up if they wished go to the restroom and even offred water to any one who wished i have flown united at its worst and at its best and overall when it comes down to the acutal service i find this airline good yes they screw up but its only made things better. Bost the whole draging thing last year in my opinon there service really got better and we were geting tons of free upgrades becasue no one was flying but in the end if i ever had to pick bettwen the 3 airlines united would be my first pick

I flew MAN-EWR-MCO last year on United, and the standard was very average. Some of the cabin crew members were actually quite rude to us. However, I flew Virgin Atlantic LGW-BGI a couple of weeks ago, and their overall cabin product was excellent.

I remember being in Newark airport back in 2015...the food options were VERY limited compared to what it was like back in 2014. Very disappointing.
