      So, without reading all of the other comments below...
      My best guess was Phil was completely engulfed in heroin addiction and wasn't talking to anyone except his dealer...
      I love Phil, and that whole band for that matter since 1992 when I discovered them when I was 17 years of age. But still, you can only do so much (or so little) with a person that is devoted to addiction and not bandmates, fans, friends, family, etc...
      And, I stilllll love Phil.
      It really is a true shame that THE defining band in heavy metal has come to this. A complete, and utter end. I held out hope for some sort of reunion. This is it. I will continue (like most of us) to praise and love the Pantera that once was. I'm grateful to have seen them 3 times (twice in Idaho, and once in The Gorge in Washington state). I am grateful for all of the footage that we all have to remember them by. To all you Pantera fans and supporters I am with you and always and always will be.

      The murderer, whose name should NEVER be mentioned by anyone that has any respect for DARRELL, showed up at a previous Damageplan concert threatening to kill everyone. DAMAGEPLAN made a poor choice to not pursue anything legally.

He's justifiably hurt by it, I just wish they could at least talk it out and be friendly to each other again. The world of metal will never heal from the loss of Dimebag, and I know of no other person who is hurt more by the tragedy than Vince. @clintmullins8670 6 лет назад +3

      Something just seemed farse.
      Phil has an ego we all kno it, but to call it inspirational, Idk. Seems like he could have been working one of the 12 steps, but right on, ain't your biz, it's whatever it took for him to get through
      Remember How Quick Those Guys Blew Up?!
      Imagine that superhero persona "Mind Over Matter, Mind Over YOUU!" suddenly isn't working anymore and ya can't even get in the studio together but still manage to rack 2 more records, nobody can handle their party after awhile, (hell the little devil in the home vid series tell ya that) Everyone pointing fingers 1/2 the band's that's waiting prolly owned a good portion of the brand tryin pay bills...wondering Which Phil they're gonna get each set, n how we gonna keep this goin. I've seen him (Phil) throw tantrums like hell, Man maybe he needed to WALK. The NOLA series helped me understand why he chose to focus his own path, get to his roots, regroup, He MUST'VE had to go home and regroup! He had bros too wasnt jus TX.
      Phil's a legend they all are and seemingly everybody leaning on each other, was a sense of belonging until $ He's still with us tho, Rex too that's a blessing! Dude was my idol, (in mindset) That gum chompin speech had its up and downs Imo, maybe too fresh if the farm, Idk Phil What if somebody said the Abbotts were spoiled day one, innit for the fans, but jus as much for that $, is it wrong? It's a business They stayed true for a longtime. Wasn't with 'Nobody's' tho, Coe, Damage P., Hell Y., Lamb, Eyehate, Goat, Pepper gotta lot to do with it all Through experimentation, trying get well, find Roots! (Remember Moscow?) Could ya get a better high? Would that piss off if they flickered out and were forgotten, or more badass songs? Who's buyin Megadeath, Look at Slayer? Their fans the same Without Abbotts', Rex or Phil, Pantera Never would've been what they Became. Planet's aligned and Pantera was born. Connie knew how to market, Dime bag to shred, it all slows down. The shit Phil said bout some beating, then Dimebag murdered in OH. Vinnie held a grudge? Who The Fuck COULD EVER KNO? The guy was mentally ill, had he favored Abbotts' instead of lead man it coulda easily been Phil Rex or Pepper on a diff date. That shit can't be predicted this day. Pantera had their RISE & fame. Brightest candles burn out the quickest, but what they say bout longevity? Ask AIC.
      Dime was a legend, the bands chemistry was unsurpassed for the genre, ain't nothing happened like Pantera since, but maybe somethin brewin down in Orleans, maybe it'll be Maine next, hell maybe time for some raw desert again, pick an album and listen to to/fro work, remember when ya used to see how far some 181proof could spit w/fire, or look at your tat burn scars and chipped teeth. Look in the mirror at your Potbelly and loss of muscle tone think about how much that music moved ya. Be glad pills alcoholism didn't sweep you up, or Unscarred actually means you didn't cut yourself purposely

      Clint Mullins it took me a minute to understand your point ,but now that I understand,you nailed it dude.Us as fans DONT actually know,we get the bits and pieces that the media,(who has made Phil the bad gut since day one) let's us see. Addiction was running rampant in Pantera,if one of them wasn't shooting up,they where drinking,I can't think of one time I've EVER seen Dime sober.What you said about the 12 steps you had the right idea wrong program,Phil started his methadone maintenance around then,one of the things were taught about being addicted is to quit,we gotta change people,places and things.Or in Phil's situation he had to separate from The people in Pantera,wether bandmate or roadie(people) he had to get away from Texas where they where base(Places),The whole premise of Pantera was Party hard ,rock harder (things).Phil knew in order to save his career he had to change,sometimes as addicts it's better to walk away without saying a word to save what little respect or salvageable part of the relationship there is.Now if Phil went to Vin and Dime and said he wanted to do his own thing and find his chi again,would they have accepted that? Considering they where being looked at to follow up trendkill,I highly doubt it,instead they just do what people do when it comes to non addicts dealing with addicts,think the most negative they can about that person. In most eyes Dime and the rest of the band being drinkers their not seen as addicts but the are,Phil on the other hand admitted his addiction which is even worse in societys.Nobody EVER says it outright but Pantera was nothing until Phil came along,I'm going to take shit for that but truth is truth,Damage Plan and Hellyea they weren't as big as Pantera,I personally think that's where Vinnie was a bit salty ,holding grudge's. We as fans need to just get over it all and enjoy the music,be thankful we got to experience the awesomeness that was Panfuckintera,hands down the best metal band that'll exist. The metal scene is getting old and retiring,the are no more iconic bands anymore,none we'll be listening to in 20/30 years anyway. The days of the true rockstar are over,the metal industry is a bunch if business men,what once was called a metal band are now full fledged business"s now,there's no room for parties,groupie sluts or PARTYING till the wheels fall off are gone. I as a fan,that bleeds metal,and takes the words of people like Phil Anselmo as scripture,I'm happy I was around to be apart of what we call the HEAVY METAL🤘🤘🤘

      Iron Maiden still existed. They made some of their best music in the 2000s. - Maybe not the Metal you'd want, but still... And to be honest, we had asskickers like Slipknot, still... Again, perhaps not the type you want, but they were fucking raw animals.
      But I get it, we hadn't a band at this legendary peak like MetallicA in say around 1990 and then PanterA moving in shortly after. - And to be honest, we won't see that happen again because the environment has changed. - It's not impressive to people anymore... Until someone does something groundbreaking that is unheard of right now.

    Man. It’s hard to comprehend how a band that fucking powerful just disintegrated. Vince and Dimes should’ve flown down to Phil’s house and confronted him. Say “hey bro, we need you! Get your shit together and let’s all take a couple weeks vacation together”. They could’ve hashed it out. They should’ve hashed it out. Phil was jacked on drugs, and Vince was to stubborn or proud to lose any personal ground. Then Dimebag got shot. That sealed any hopes of a Pantera reunion. Vince held Phil responsible. And I think it ate him up inside. Witnessing his brothers death and the fallout from Pantera I think did Vince in ultimately too. It’s a damn shame. What a powerful band they were together. I don’t blame anyone in particular. But I’m pretty confident if Phil could have a do over, he’d jump.

    I hope to god Phil ,rex ,Charlie ,and Zak see how calling themselves pantera is just so wrong .

    I don’t know what did and didn’t happen, none of us do. However, I’d assume all these years together they should have been able to confront one another. Gone to the kid, bashed his door in, fought it out figured out the problem and solved it. The A team, ride or die team. Its called brotherhood. It seems everyone was too up theirs and communicated through management and in the end, it was all over because of none sense. And now we’re left with life long grudges. In the name of Dime, was it all even worth it? Truly unfortunate.

      Things change when you get into your 30's despite knowing friends for donkeys years. I feel zero connection to anyone I used to know. Things become awkward and more formal especially when you haven't seen those friends in a long time. Some people never change, some people do and move onto other things. I think Phil had had enough of Pantera and the rest of the guys, and was frankly bored and done with them. I'm of course speculating, but Phil liked his drugs and prob wanted to ha ng out with other musicians who did similar drugs too. Phil grew apart from the Abbot brothers and that was that In my humble opinion.
      We we never know the truth, it's all he said she said hearsay bullshit. I'm just glad they created the some of the best metal ever. They were one of a kind. We will never see the likes of these dudes again.

    Long story short based to Vinnie Paul's own words Phil Anselmo destroyed Pantera because he chose drugs over the band. And given Phil Anselmo stating Dimebag deserved to be severely beaten and what actually happened to Dimebag due to his tragic death I don't blame Vinnie Paul one bit for his hatred and resentment for Phil because it's warranted. And now fast forward to to this year 2022 Phil Anselmo thinks he can revive Pantera hell no that will never happen because Vinnie and Dimebag were Pantera considering they were the heart and soul of the band and without them Pantera is no more.

    So, speaking on behalf of Phil (not that he needs that), I will say this...when you have people who belittle. you and make you feel a certain way for the direction he took with drugs, it makes it very difficult to be around those who are judging you and attempting to make you feel weaker or responsible for every bad thing that happens. The irony in all of this is the fact that they did this to Phil, yet, it was the alcoholism that led to the demise of Vinnie (RIP) and an insane fan of Pantera that led to the death of Dime...(and in this interview, Vinnie said that there was no backlash from the fans.) I love and miss Pantera and the Abbott brothers. I wish they could have all been friends again and it sucks seeing one of the most influential bands of my life and rock music in general end the way it did. I don't think that there is ANY BLAME to be had at all on any of their parts. Dying bitter and angry at a person who you once considered to be your "brother" is absolutely dreadful. I wish the best of the best for Rex and Phil and I hope that the Abbott brothers are getting the peaceful rest they deserve.

    • @erakattack
      @erakattack 2 года назад +1

      I don't know if any of that is true, but say it is. Nothing can be fixed without some communication and sharing of thoughts. When Phil ducked every attempt made by them and the label, all that's gonna develop is further resentment and bitterness. unfortunately, Dime met his fate during all of this and the damage was done. that wound was too deep to overcome

    • @MichaelGrubbEvolvedMinistry
      @MichaelGrubbEvolvedMinistry 2 года назад

      @@erakattack Nothing is too deep to overcome. And yes, what I said was true. After Phil's overdose, he was often reminded that he had "failed.' And, if I was in that same situation, I might duck those people too. Why do you think that Phil had so much hostility towards them after that situation? It didn't just arise from nowhere. He already felt like crap for having OD'd. He already felt like crap due to the state of his spine. And then when he's reminded of those mistakes and the thing that caused the addiction in the first place, it creates resentment. He didn't just wake up one day disliking Dime or Vinnie. He didn't just wake up one day and decide to talk crap about them to the media. There was a catalyst. This is the problem when people don't hear both sides to a story and then make assumptions. They often made him feel lesser while both of them continued to drink like fish not recognizing their own vices that were in fact killing them too. Vinny died with an enlarged heart due to coronary disease and Dimebag was also beginning to experience problems due to alcoholism. The fact is, neither of them are here anymore (which sucks) but, Phil Anselmo still is. To me, that is a testament to something right there. Either way, they all were brothers and could have fixed things, but, they chose not to...and that is the biggest tragedy. I have had some huge fallouts with people in my past, but, I went and mended those situations and others did the same with me. Nothing is beyond repair unless there's rape, molestation, or murder involved. And since Phil did not murder Dimebag, it could have been handled.

    • @erakattack
      @erakattack 2 года назад +1

      @@MichaelGrubbEvolvedMinistry Phil still being alive while they're dead is a testament to jackshit. What a boneheaded thing to say. I was with you until that.
      You keep saying anything can be overcome and nobody is to be blamed, but then go on to blame the Abbott brothers again and again. If anything can be overcome, then Phil should've manned up and done that instead of talking shit and hiding. I say this as someone who's done just that many times throughout my life. I'd agree that everyone has a part, but you still have to communicate and not leave people hanging.
