Those were such fun times. I'll always appreciate them.
Ah, yes Lance Storm the future Canadian Heavyweight Champion, the 100 Kilos and Under Champion, and the Saskatchewan Hardcore International Title Champion.
The biggest problem with earlier Wrestlemania's was the lack of time. They had to get every match in 3 hours and you could always tell that some matches were rushed which I hated because they were good matchups that needed more time. Years later WM went on to about 4 hours long and now today its like 7 or 8 hours long with no lack of time.
I was lucky to have attended this at the Skydome. First time I attended a wrestling event. Can't describe the experience, the awe, and how happy I was when Warrior beat Hogan, and when the Hart foundation beat the Ruskies. I will never forget the promo the Warrior cut before this event. Thanks for covering this Brian!
That awkward interaction between Sean Mooney and Mary Tyler Moore at 31:36 made me lol, especially her 'How about him?' comment regarding Greg Valentine. 😄
The Steve Allen bits were FANTASTIC, definitely funnier with adult eyes understanding the quips. The Combined weight jokes on Sapphire and Dusty was Hysterical. Probably can't do that in today's era. Also we need more PPVS with the Ring Car again. Such a great visual That Main event was everything to me as a kid, I wept when Hogan lost.
12 years later rock vs hogan wmx8. Remember JR in that match mentioning Hogan not having luck in Toronto. Hogan vs Warrior was a dvd extra in the Wrestlemania 18 dvd. Both great matches.
Can't believe you missed the best thing on this whole show. When the royal scepter hits Dusty's head, Jesse goes "Ding!" gleefully and it's the funniest thing ever.
I was hoping you'd mention my favorite line of the night from Heenan's (awesome) Andre promo, where it starts with Gene saying "Bobby Heenan, where do you have the bal--the nerve to hit Andre the Giant in the face?" And Heenan says "I'LL TELL YOU WHERE I GOT THE B--NERVE TO HIT ANDRE IN THE FACE!"
Hey man, I just found your videos and I really like them. I was a huge Hulkamaniac when I was a kid after I got the Hulkamania Workout Set for my 7th bday. The mid to late 80s was a golden era of wrestling and your videos always take me back.
Been waiting for this show ever since the classic PPV review series started!! The first WM I ever watched live on tv. I’d become a fan the year before and this was the peak time of my fandom ( if that’s a proper word!!)
Coming from the UK, this was actually the first big WWF show we got in the UK once Sky satellite television was launched. I grew up watching World of Sport UK wrestling with my dad, and the difference was just night and day in terms of razzmatazz etc. So glad you mentioned how good the Santana/Barbarian match was. Tito made Barbarian look like a big deal with not very much time to work with at all (Rockers vs Barbarian and Haku at WM7 was a similar match, few expectations, big payoff.)
Agreed. Koko was one of my favorites back in the day. A good to great worker, oceans of charisma, and, of course, Frankie. I can't see him ever holding the Winged Eagle, because he was a smaller guy in Vince's "land of the giants", but he should have had the IC belt at least once.
I grew up in the "Andre gets tied up in the ropes" era of WWE. I swear, EVERY Andre match i ever saw back then ended in him tied up in the ropes & looking absolutely surprised that it happened again lmaoo
Not only was the acknowledgement of the wave something that would never happen today, but Ventura's brilliant ad lib, "Wow, what an ovation they're giving The Million Dollar Man," followed by Monsoon being completely flabbergasted that he'd say that, is my favorite Jesse/Gorilla banter ever. Getting their announce team dynamic over and staying in character in a spontaneous moment with a simple back and forth. Without even thinking about it, Jesse demonstrates his twisted logic. Biased af toward the heels, but in a way that made it sound like he honestly believed they weren't heels.
Sure it could, and if only Schwarzenegger let them put 30 different actors playing the Terminator in his role in 1984 we'd have loads of legends too....................................
@@phillipivey4833 Nope, if it is on the network version then they've messed with the audio. On the live/VHS versions demolition winning is the loudest pop on the card by far, it's potential for a "10 greatest pops of all time" list.
Fun Fact: Roddy Piper had a liquid solution to get that black paint off his body but a few wrestlers got rid of it. So this forced Piper to go to places including the airport still painted half black
That was the real rub in the cultural insensitivity side of things; Roddy didn’t regret it because it was offensive in hindsight, but because he couldn’t get the paint off for weeks afterwards. Still, him and Bad News Brown ending the angle in a no contest comes out more PC-friendly than the Booker-T/HHH racist storyline at WM19. Some of the family still won’t watch WWE to this day because of how that match ended.
SoLoMoN DaViDSoN oh yeah the story where it clearly paints Booker T in a story of redemption loses in the worst way possible. Not only was it a regular pin fall but a minute delay . That’s burying someone deliberately not just booking the wrong guy to go over.
@@JohnWilliams-wl9px To be fair, outside of how the match ended, I think HHH retaining works in the fact that it leads into Evolution running RAW as a major heel faction for the rest of 2003 and it builds towards Benoit actually beating him next year. I don't think that would work out as well if he lost. Booker T should have won it a month or two later though and been a major rival for Evolution in 2003.
I like how the main premise of Hogan's promo was that "it doesn't matter if you win or lose, all that matters is what type of winner you are and what type of loser you are", basically telling people that the real winners are the guys that are good sports. Of course Hogan said this cause he knew that he was gonna be the 'good sport" later that night.

John Tenta was such a cool dude. When I was a kid I went to a house show that took place at an amusement park. They had a autograph session with Sargeant Slaughter and The Macho Man. After getting their autographs, I saw him sitting on one of the benches. I went up and asked him and asked for his autograph. He could have said get lost, but he was pretty chill and signed it. He was a great guy and I miss him. He was gone too soon.
He was technically 26 as he hadn't had his birthday yet. Either way, I agree with Brian in that Tenta never looked a day younger than 40. I had a friend like that in school. I would have to remind myself whenever us and another one of our other friends were together that he was the youngest and I was the oldest by about 6 months despite the fact that he looked like he was 30.
To be fair, Shawn Michael's was in the Golden era, New Generation, Attitude and Ruthless aggression and PG era. I know he missed out the hight of the attitude era but for a guy who takes huge bumps it is kind of amazing he lasted so long.
@@chrisyanover1777 I don't really count shawn Michaels attitude era run cause he didn't wrestle during that era that much. He wrestled during the beginning of that era and that's it. He wrestled full time during the Golden, Ruthless, PG, and reality era which is the current era apparently
@Jackson Five technically The Undertaker didn't debut till the New Gen era. Kind of the reason he at first was heavily gimmicked. But the Undertaker is by far the best gimmicked wrestler!

Soon as he said "Hogan took a step back" Hogan actually fell back a bit, lol
That awkward interaction between Sean Mooney and Mary Tyler Moore at 31:36 made me lol, especially her 'How about him?' comment regarding Greg Valentine. 😄
This was my favorite WM. That crowd popped huge for Demolition when they won.
The Steve Allen bits were FANTASTIC, definitely funnier with adult eyes understanding the quips.
The Combined weight jokes on Sapphire and Dusty was Hysterical. Probably can't do that in today's era.
Also we need more PPVS with the Ring Car again. Such a great visual
That Main event was everything to me as a kid, I wept when Hogan lost.
That line about “haven’t been this excited since I found out Pee Wee Herman was straight” still gets quoted by my wife and I to this day
@@Fear2Stop MGTOW
Gotta love Mary Tyler Moore there trying to play along. Way to yes and
“What about his new partner?”
“how about him!”
Edge Christian Lance Storm and Renee Young were in the crowd.
guillermo acosta I did not know that.
I knew Edge was there but I didn't know that Christian, Lance Storm and Renee Young were there as well
X-Pac was there too.

I never get tired of Brian's Jimmy Hart impressions!
Nor me. God I laughed
I do. Lol. Funny impressions but I think they take away from what a brilliant personality he was, his Mickey mouse squeakyness wasn't all he was.
Hahaha yeah. That's how I feel whenever he does the Dusty impersonation too
12 years later rock vs hogan wmx8. Remember JR in that match mentioning Hogan not having luck in Toronto.
Hogan vs Warrior was a dvd extra in the Wrestlemania 18 dvd.
Both great matches.
33:00 For as old as he was, Jimmy Snuka looked like a million bucks right here
Can't believe you missed the best thing on this whole show. When the royal scepter hits Dusty's head, Jesse goes "Ding!" gleefully and it's the funniest thing ever.
8:46 "Kane/Great Khaki vibes." Now I'm just imagining The Great Kahli cosplaying as Mike Haggar from Final Fight.
KHAKI
I was hoping you'd mention my favorite line of the night from Heenan's (awesome) Andre promo, where it starts with Gene saying "Bobby Heenan, where do you have the bal--the nerve to hit Andre the Giant in the face?" And Heenan says "I'LL TELL YOU WHERE I GOT THE B--NERVE TO HIT ANDRE IN THE FACE!"
To be included on the list of the worst ideas someone can have: slapping André The Giant !
First time seeing your show. I'm hooked !! Great commentary !!
This...this is THE SHOW that made me a lifelong fan of the wild world of Professional Wrestling.
Everyone forgets how great Steve Allen was. It’s sad how forgotten he is. An absolute treasure
The Simpsons properly elevated his legend
Loved his Pee Wee Herman joke
i think he called him a RODENT manager, even though weasels arent rodents.
In the Orient express the one with the long hair is Tanaka, not Sato
I came here to mention this.
@@joere-uploader5766 Every year around Wrestlemania!
Hey man, I just found your videos and I really like them. I was a huge Hulkamaniac when I was a kid after I got the Hulkamania Workout Set for my 7th bday. The mid to late 80s was a golden era of wrestling and your videos always take me back.
This has been my go-to playlist of videos over the past few nights. Thanks for all the awesome videos.
The analogies to Who Framed Roger Rabbit made my heart grow, LOVE THAT SHIT!
I swear Brian just likes saying Great Khaki so he's just going to find ways to say it in every review for now on.
Definitely lol he loves it
Been waiting for this show ever since the classic PPV review series started!!
I just want to live in a world where Koko won a ppv match.
Agreed. Koko was one of my favorites back in the day. A good to great worker, oceans of charisma, and, of course, Frankie. I can't see him ever holding the Winged Eagle, because he was a smaller guy in Vince's "land of the giants", but he should have had the IC belt at least once.
Brian's Dusty impression caught me off guard. I spit my drink all over the screen 😂
Just wanted to say: Pretty sweet Savage impression.
It looks like your wearing a crown royal bag.
I think this everytime her where’s this gimmick shirt!
Hahahaha best comment
🤣🤣🤣
"now called the Rogers Centre"
It will always be the Skydome to me.
I call a compromise of the Rogers Skydome.
Nathan Zimmerman
Much respect for your comment
But hey what about the Silverdome?
@@JulioHernandez-wy8nh Hull Cogan: "I always confuse that with the Superdome."
*It's Still SkyDome to Me*
That 1st “slap” from Andre is just 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
The industry could have had even more Hogan-level mega stars back then if he put more guys over like this during his run
Sure it could, and if only Schwarzenegger let them put 30 different actors playing the Terminator in his role in 1984 we'd have loads of legends too....................................
Your impressions were on point for this review. Great Dusty, Jesse and Macho ones, and of course your Jimmy Heart is always hilarious. Well done! 👍
Brian’s impressions of Dusty, Ventura and Macho Man are absolutely spot on 😂😂
Earthquake looked 40 when he was 27
To be fair, he was first discovered in the late 1400's...
Earthquake had "Arn Anderson disease" pretty much.
The whole blackface thing was way over my head as a kid, but I remember being upset that Piper didn't continue it under his trunks.
🤔🙄🙄 ummm?! What?!
That would've been true dedication and attention to detail lol
He actually did but you could only see it if you used a special pair of Sunglasses. ;)
It's sad thinking of how many wrestlers from this are no longer with us.
Something not mentioned, the pop when Demolition won the tag titles is the loudest on the show, perhaps one of the loudest ever.
UH no it wasn't. Warrior winning was way louder.
@@phillipivey4833 Nope, if it is on the network version then they've messed with the audio. On the live/VHS versions demolition winning is the loudest pop on the card by far, it's potential for a "10 greatest pops of all time" list.
@@llynellyn IT certainly was not. I watch the PPV live as a kid. The Pop wasn't that loud at all.
What song did Brian Zane say at 15:56-16:01 that The Hart Foundation couldn't wait for, again?...
Fun Fact: Roddy Piper had a liquid solution to get that black paint off his body but a few wrestlers got rid of it.
So this forced Piper to go to places including the airport still painted half black
Andre got rid of it
Hakim Fullerton Yeah Roddy said he regretted doing it because he couldn’t get it off
That was the real rub in the cultural insensitivity side of things; Roddy didn’t regret it because it was offensive in hindsight, but because he couldn’t get the paint off for weeks afterwards.
17:05 I think he said "rodent manager" (as in "The Weasel")
Jeremy Russell ^^^^^
That’s exactly what he said, I was just about to comment that very same.
Lol exactly!
Big credit for trying to make sense of Hogan and Warriors promos Brian. My own reaction is simply), well I guess cocaine is a hell of a drug
@@mattthomas1442 In his book he says him giving Warrior the belt was unscripted and he did it to take the focus of Warrior and back onto him
The intro to Wrestlemania 6 reminds me of Lou Ferrigno's Hercules movies where there's special effects of constellations out there.
This was the first major wrestling show I saw on satellite TV when I was a kid here in Scotland, and it blew me away!! It had all my favourites, Machoman Randy Savage, Roddy Piper, Jake The Snake Roberts!! I loved it and was hooked on WWF for years!!
Remember when both Hulk Hogan and Ultimate Warrior were both universally loved by the fans.... Pepperidge farms remembers
Remember when wrestling had fans.... Pepperidge farms remembers.
Sherri Martel does NOT get enough credit by WWE (or anybody else for that matter) for her work and how good she really was.
Lots of cameos by future wrestlers and backstage personalities in this Wrestlemania is what I noticed.

Can we just appreciate Brian's Macho Man impression 🤣🤣🤣
Earthquake was 27?!? WHAT?!?
Also Brian your ranking graphics are kinda glitching in this review, something went bad in editing?
@@SnesRulez I thought that was intentional? Could be a glitch though, I dunno
Either way I liked it, looks cool.
7:39 I think Earthquake inspired the pacing Brock Lesnar does.
That Wrestlerock Rumble reference! 🤣
Can we just take a minute to appreciate the fact that we got to see The Big Boss Man in both the Golden Era and the Attitude Era both successful runs.
@Jackson Five I guess you are technically right about the Undertaker. I always associate Undertaker with New Gen and after. But you are right about the Undertaker premiering in the Golden era.
It's taken me 3 nights to watch this but finally got through it. I love these so I don't know why they keep putting me to sleep.

I thought I was the only one that noticed.
That was weird.
It's the Smackdown hacker!

Brian.....you made my day when you pointed out the Model/Venis theme similarity. I’ve always thought that. Nice to get some validation, haha.
Man earthquake at 27 looks like he is 20 years older than me and I'm nearly 32. Wtf
I'm disappointed Akeem didn't pull a Hogan (8 years before Hogan did) by insisting that BBM give him his win back from their time in UWF.
