    I had the HM300 didn't last a week.
    Sounded okay but the plastic switch couldn't even last on my desk top.
    Never even used it with my foot.
    So I got the Eyemaster and just added a gate and tweaked my EQ it sounds good.
    Build quality is certainly much better. Baest did a demo with it that helped me as well as your video.
    Thank for posting these videos very helpful indeed.

      I’ve used a beheringer noise gate for three years and it’s held up, however I would still recommend anyone to buy a better one, it does the job, but it’s got it’s moments.

    Because I _had_ both, my decision goes to the one trick metal brick, aka the Eyemaster... And not for sound as the differences are so small you won't notice the difference especially not in a mix... and also, the differences could just be due to tolerances on the parts, in which case just different units of the same pedals might be just as far apart.
    Anyway, actual reason is built-quality: might have been bad luck and I just had a lemon/Montagsproduktion, but, my HM-300 just died after a few months of use... and not even as an actual stompbox, but literally just lying on my _desk_, used as an outboard effect... which, really, for a stompbox should be nothing. Both my Eyemasters already survived longer under the same use and seem to be completely fine as well. And I'd rather have something reliable.

    Having owned both, I actually prefer the Behringer soundwise..
    Too bad with the build quality/plastic housing, but the Eyemaster seems to be built well enough.. But it’s somewhat lacking in the sound🧐

    I think the Behringer sounds better through the clean amp but the Eyemaster better through the distorted amp. Just gives it some thickness the other doesn't.

    I still say it is a pity that between the only two low priced HM-2 clones, we have to choose between the one trick metal brick (nice name BTW 😂) or the plastic pink toy (could not have said it better. It fits right in to that kids toy collection too 🤣) If only they rolled the two pedals into one, the 4 dials of the HM300 into the metal housing of the Eyemaster, that would be the perfect low priced HM-2 clone. And to think that the same company owns both Behringer & TC Electronic, it is possible, they should just do it.

    I own the HM300, but I still want to get an Eyemaster. Not that I need the versatility, but I do like that about the HM300. They both sounded the same as far as I could tell, so really no big decision either way. Biggest difference is that the Eyemaster goes for $50+ here in the United States whereas the HM300 is only $25.

    oh and can you do a demo review of a 1 knob chainsaw adding HM-2 EQ pedal? I would love a series like that from you as you an OLA are my favorite reviewers on RUclips period.everyone else fucks around and sometimes never crank the gain all th way on anything.pisses me off and it's irritating to be waiting to hear a pedal at full bore an never get to th point.but at least you and OLA get the job done properly.thank you.

      Thanks, man! I might do a 1 knob video somehow... I had some 2 knob chainsaws of course, but the one knobs are rare actually. Plus getting pedals from overseas is a real challenge nowadays.

    Apparently TC Electronics bought the Behringer pedal line and have simply rehoused them in metal housings, so the Eyemaster is just a rehoused HM300 ...

      Well TC Electronics is owned by the same parent company as Behringer so that does make a bit of sense.

    • @purrpocalypse
      @purrpocalypse 7 месяцев назад

      They sound too different. It's not even subtle. The Behringer has a very unique sound, it's very chirpy in the upper mids during chainsaw. Whereas the Eyemaster sounds exactly like an HM2.
      Something about either the circuits or the components are different.

  • @TheNocturnalEvil
    @TheNocturnalEvil 4 года назад +2

    Before the clean amp the difference ain't that obvious, but before the distorted amp Behringer has a weird harshness to its upper mids and high end that ain't there on the Eyemaster. There's something off about the upper-mids and high end of the Behringer HHM300.

  • @spuuuuuz

    TC electronic owns Behringer so it's probably the same circuit.

    HM300 takes it. It is cheaper, cooler looking and gets pretty close to the Hm2.

    Behringer pedals are great! They are so cheap and sound good!

  • @H_A_R_M
    @H_A_R_M 4 года назад +3

    They should have named it “One trick metal brick” from the beginning! 😂🤘
    Register that name, seriously, you never know what companies will contact you for an HM-2 signature pedal...
    This could be a money making name. 😉
    Soundwise, I prefer the Behringer... but my daughter snagged it because of the colour and the fact that it combines rather well with her hot pink Jackson RR Minion. 🙈
    The Eyemaster is one of those pedals that I’d like to have in my inventory, just because.

    Great video. Its great to learn and understand each pedal that you have uploaded. Personally I find that the BOSS Metalcore pedal, when tweaked right can give that same if not similar saw tone.
    Just suggestion to your pedal reviews. Great job, and of course keep em coming . 🤘🏻😈

      I'm waiting for a used Metal Core I bought, and I was looking to get one of these two for the "buzzsaw tone", what settings would you use for that on the Metal Core?

    my hm300 doesn't sound like that at all in my rocktron rt122 rampage amp.i like the EYEMASTER the best.
    I'm getting one soon I hope but I'm very very interested in one of those pedals with one knob that contain the HM-2 EQ section and will turn any pedal into a chainsaw.i want to run that we ith th HM300 and see if it grows horns and teeth then.but the EYEMASTER sounds sweet to my metal ears.im gonna hook up th HM300 into the effects loop of my behringer noise reduction pedal an see what I can get to happen and maybe get lucky an sicken that thing up alot.its almost as if my HM300 was made to accidently lose its balls and somehow hasn't grew a new set yet.idk.very confused an gonna try to make it at least wear a fake set of nuts so I can enjoy this sound.

    I don't know, they both kinda sound bad to me - not because I don't like the chainsaw sound,, I can appreciate that, but both of these pedals just don't sound good to me for some reason, they sound like cheap versions of that chainsaw sound we all know and love.
