Hey, I just wanted to say that I really enjoy your videos. I am in OMSCS as well and these videos are great summaries of your classes. They help me know what I am getting into for the classes that we overlap in.
I’m so glad you like them!! Thanks for saying that, made my day
Hey, I am loving your videos on OMSCS. I am applying for 2023 fall. Your videos make me even more interested in the program. However, I am very tensed if I can even get an admit even though I clear all the prerequisites.
Yeah I can show you what I did to get into the program, basically, like you said, yes if you meet the prerequisites, then at least in my experience, you’ll most likely get in
I can always answer more questions though if you want, maybe I’ll do another video about that too
Any tips/resources on tri directional search, a bit confuse on the stopping condition.
Hi, first of all thank you for your videos. It really does help me and probably other people who are confused what coursed to take XD
Quick question! I know who answered similar comment below about ML vs AI, and ML is easier in code-wise. What about the course comparison overall; meaning not just code wise but the difficulty of the class overall? Any insights on it?
Thanks for watching! 😃 In my opinion, AI is easier IF you have a lot of experience with numpy and python, because you only do programming in that class, not reports
If you are medium to beginner level in python and/or have never used numpy before, then I would say that ML is easier, because you can choose any programming language to do the projects, and there’s a Java package called ABIGAIL that does a lot of the work for you on that one, so it’s mainly the reports that are hard
I hope that answers it but please do let me know if you have any more questions!! Thanks for watching!
@@coolstercodes Hey, which pc did you use to get through the course? If it was M1/M2 mac, did you have any issues with the environment setup?
I had a windows PC the first half of the class then switched to a MacBook with an M1 chip and both worked great
I am trying to decide between this course (AI) vs the Dr. Isbell's ML course. Which is better for someone not that strong in coding?
I would say, that ML is less “exact” coding, meaning you get to choose your language, your libraries etc.
So probably ML is a bit easier coding wise
Actually yeah now that I think about it more, ML is easier coding wise
Hey, I just got admitted to the program and wanted to take this class artificial intelligence as my first course this coming fall semester. Is it doable for someone who has a job as well to take this class as the first one. Background I have a cs degree and work as a software engineer
Yeah your background says to me that you could do it, I think you could get the hang of it pretty quickly
Is it your only class? I would say that is the best way to start, AI only, no other classes to begin with
@@coolstercodes thanks, yeah I was planning on taking AI alone or pair it up with an easy class, if you have any recommendations. I am planning on doing the machine learning specialization.
Yeah if you’re looking for an easy class to pair it with, I would suggest Computer Networks
That being said, your first semester I would suggest just taking 1 class, so AI alone
Does AI help prep you for ML?
I would say that:
Machine Learning for Trading -> prepares for AI (because you use numpy a lot)
Reinforcement learning prepares for ML (and vice versa, because you write papers a lot)
@Coolster Codes what about isye 6740 is it good pre req for AI, I am little scared cause I am in OmSA not as good of programmer as lets say omscs
Hi @Ahmad, I haven’t taken isye 6740 but if you did python programming in it, it’s probably sufficient, I would say the concepts are what’s tough in AI
