- It’s been a little while since I’ve done an update on the Tempest, but not to worry! I’ve been collecting a lot of parts for this build behind the scenes and it’s almost ready to start going together. I cleaned the car up as best I could since you last saw it and I got a brand new set of wheels and tires! Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/T tires on 15” steelies with beauty rings and Pontiac hubcaps. Stay tuned for more build progress in the next couple months!

I guess I'm boring. I would keep the stance as is. I love this car and it's OHC6 engine too!
Very nice looking wheels. The car is beautiful just as it is. Remember, it can only be original once. It screams history!!! 👍🏻😀🇺🇸
Survivors r the best!
I havent seen a “driver” that clean since the 70’s
I JUST REMEMBERED THE NAME OF THE 4 SPEED, IT WAS A HURST MYSTERY SHIFTER, SHIFTED SO
SMOOTH AND VERY FAST, LOVED IT.
This is a classic body style! I would keep the stance the way it is, and either keep the 6, or drop in a 428 or 455. Pontiac Power all the way...Good Luck!👍
Amen to that brother, heck even a 326 based 375 Stroker or a 400 based 461 Stroker would be a great option as well.
I love seeing a young person so passionate about an old vehicle! congrats Liv!
Thank you!
The Tempest is 😍 beautiful, as is the temptress of the description of your Poncho! I agree, the OHC, should stay where it's been, running out well, YEAH! 🤗😎
Your passion for that body style the Pontiacs is very cool! I've been in love with that body style since I was 5 years old. 66 and 67 are the best years I've owned GTOs in both years. Your hard work and Hands-On approach it's probably inspiring two kids your own age. Good luck with your Pontiac and I'll look forward to new videos to see the progress on your Pontiac.
Just got back from a ride in my 66 tempest..... bought back when I was 19 years old...I'm now 55 year's old.....I love my Tempest.....👍👍😎
Great tire and wheel package. Great sizing there.
As for stance, back is perfect. Maybe lower the front a smidge (1") and it'd be perfect.
Your knowledge continues to amaze me. All wrapped up in a cute package. Nicely done.
I've never really been into a nice fancy car because I's always worried about it getting destroyed somehow, but that Pontiac right there is exactly what I'd love to have as a daily driver. I know people that make their vehicles look pretty but they don't never really run to good and some of em don't run at all lol...To me that Pontiac is a beautiful nice ride just the way it is
you know nothing is better than a lovely woman like this that likes old cars and actually knows what shes talking about! .this is truly beautifull. all the way around!
and yeah this is a great old pontiac! totally worth fixing
I did a LS1/T56 magnum swap in my 67 Buick GS400 about 7 years ago. Best decision I made. You will love the LS for a daily driver.
You are cute, funny and intelligent! Great video! Admire your spirit and goals you have to bring this classic back to life. Good luck and keep posting progress videos! Cheers!!
Love the Tempest! That belt driven John DeLorean OHC 6 is great! It’s so unique! Don’t trash it.
the driver side DOOR ! opening sound ! Heavy Metal.. i can smell the steel and the interior materials baked over time.
I'm not that old, but I grew up with survivor cars. Studebaker, Plymouth, Chrysler Buick etc. ... I happen to have a survivor Studebaker hawk in my driveway right now. There is absolutely nothing finer and than a real classic, something a little offbeat, showing its years but still trudging along. There's so few of them out there now, coming up I'd see them every week in the trade mags (pre-internet!). Your Pontiac is one of the coolest I've seen in years. Excited to see you get out on that road trip, make your way up to the Sierras and you can drive the BlowerCuda!
You have a awesome time piece. I would be proud to drive her. No make that DAMN PROUD
I love the wheels and the body style. Pontiac had real style!
That's awesome Liv! I've had 5 of these old Pontiacs, absolutely love them. Easy to work on, and always look cool. The stance is good now, give it some power..
I owned a 66 like yours, red/black bench seats, hurst 4 speed, ohc six like yours but with the 4-barrel quadrajet carb, no power anything, for a 6 it was pretty quick, i was racing an older corvette, probably a 59? we were at 120 on the Bayshore fwy in no. Cal,
it looked allot like a GTO, it got rubber in all 4 gears, bitch to steer or stop, but fun in a straight line, used to race it on El Camino
Real for a few yrs.i put chrome reversed wheels on it, 15x8s IF i RECALL. REAL FUN CAR TO DRIVE.
Glad to see you so genuinely excited about this car. I came of age during the muscle car era and this car would have been pretty mundane but now is pretty cool to have survived. I hope you fix it up the way you envision it to be and enjoy it for many years. Don’t worry about all the free advice about what you should do to it. Whatever you do will be an adventure.
love the way boyf opens the trunk with his switch blade !
Lots of potential with that Pontiac and I absolutely love your enthusiasm for your project. Priceless. Stay safe and triple check Road worthiness every time you turn those wrenches.
Mine has a 74 pontiac,400 punched out 30 over to a 406..solid cam 6X heads.. Forged pistons nice cam...750 dp...th 400 trans built...411 rear gear...forest green with majestic in clear coat....built 20 sum odd year's ago...did it all myself..still runs great today... sprayed it with a ,,210 shot of nitrous for many years....street raced,,now cruisin car that I very much still enjoy today.... Your is coming along nicely..👍👍😎
My very first car when I turned 16 way back in 1981. A 67 Tempest with a 326. Mam, do I wish I had that car now!
This car is a keeper, complete and rust free! That OHC badge in the fender looks cool. The engine is a keeper too, not too many OHC 6 kicking around, many owners probably ditched it for V8 to make a GTO clone. The engine needs a rebuild for long term reliability.
That’s a nice ride you got there kiddo.
It's cool to see a beautiful young lady that's into old cars.👍
had the same car in 1977, You are very happy to have it. I could not wait to get rid of mine, but now its vintage cool Good Luck*****Hope your dreams come true*******
Always keep the original engine laying around collectors love original !
Love the wheels! Drop the front an inch or two and thats it IMO. Awesome daily!
Reminds me of my 67 LeMans with a 326, & a 2 speed powerglide ! It wasn't pretty but it ran , & ran , Thanks for the video.
Looking forward to seeing this car get the love, I have a 66 Tempest that I got in 2019 as a basket case and have it on the road now and love it.
Looking forward to seeing the progress on your daily.
God, you just gotta love 💘 Mermaid Liz's giggle 😄 keep up the Great work 👏 the outing with the '56 chevy wagon was awesome!
Looks great and a lot of fun! I would put the power steering pump that was thrown in the neighbors front yard back on to make the steering more enjoyable.
Liv, Any car you lean on is going to look good. The Tempest is in pretty good shape for as old as it is. Nice job on the video.
Really happy still seeing 60s pontiac on the road. In Canada most people would've let this waste away, lie about EVENTUALLY restoring it, or send it to the junkyard.
Keep the engine. A piece of Art
Love these older vehicles. I might be weird but the best thing under the bonnet of old vehicles is the hinge and spring setup that assists in lifting then holding the hood up. The system outlasts gas strut lifters by around 80 years and just keeps on working
I think you completely nailed the wheel combo for the car. Looks great! As far as stance..maybe raise the rear like an inch
Thanks! 😊 Thinking the same
I really miss the 66 GTO I had in the early 70s. What a beautiful car!!!
I had a 1966 Tempest just like yours I put in air shocks on the back with chrome reverse wheels all around thanks for the memory
The dash looks damn near perfect !!!
Just found this video today , great car to sell to a true Tempesta for his 70th Birthday ! Lol.
wheels/tires = night and day, I think anyway. Looks great. My first car had aftermarket wheels when I bought it. I found some original 15x7 pontiac rallys in a junkyard, and I was so pumped to restore and get them on the car. It looked so, so much better than the late 70s Appliance street machine wheels that were on it. Oh yea, my first car was a 1972 Firebird. 350/4 spd, blew up that motor, found a 400 pontiac to go in. I was 18, this was way back in 1990. Miss that car ..its my one that got away. :(
Hey Liv. I'd raise the back end up just 2" from where it is to preserve this MT shoes. I'd also spring for a trunk lock too. Then clean out the inside trunk so you can really shoe off that gorgeous trunk floor. Then a headliner for the interior. Simple fixes that could really source up the Tempest. Long range, perhaps you could drop in a big block LS with some beautiful chrome or white long tube hooker headers hooked up to an H pipe exhaust with bad-ass thrust twin muffler pipes. Ssssweeet!
Love the vertical headlights on those pontiacs
I am getting a 1980 turbo trans am pace car this Saturday, it has the 301 turbo that I am planning on keeping and fixing it, but the option of putting an Ls and keeping the 301 on a crate did cross my mind. Love your car.
Nothing beats a great looking Pontiac front end with a pair of stacked head lights, I miss my 67, it was a fun project and labor of love. I put taller coil springs in the rear to get the stance that I was looking for. You have a sweet cruiser, best of luck on the project.. 👍
That is an awesome car and I love the wheel selection. I like the way it looks, stock and in progress, that is so cool.
If you're not looking to paint the car anytime soon, might I suggest apply a few coats of Penetrol by Flotrol, especially if you plan to road trip the car across the USA. I live in the Midwest, and you'll certainly want to ensure you've applied some type of protectant, if you plan to come during the winter months!!! Oh, nearly forgot; make sure you treat the body with a rust inhibitor!!!!
Sweet car. My Dad had a '66 Tempest Sprint. I'd love to see that car back in his driveway
Great job nice car when done but I realy like the 56 in the garage that was my favorite I miss mine sold it 12 years ago will get another one some day love your videos, nice to see it done soon Allan
I like the wheels and stance. Looks great!
A diamond in the rough is a good description. If you LS or Poncho 400 swapped, and kept the “rough” on it, it would be a cool sleeper. I really like the wheel and tire combo for some reason vs the GTO wheels.
Keep having fun the way you like it!
hello there, I've been watching your channel for a 6months. love what your doing, the hands on and the support group you have... I purchased a similar vehicle a yr. ago its a 67 Pontiac LeMans convertible. I'm doing some of the same work you're doing. I'm definitely getting those Dakota dash. I loving yours. will keep in touch.
Thank you so much for watching! That sounds awesome. Best of luck with your build & keep in touch!
,,,hello from land o' lakes,wi...my second car!,,,after a VWbug,,....this car was the easiest car to drive,smooth...so cool,,,I bought it for 300.$....was so fun to go to town in,,,listen to the radio,,,,,,but it was a Wisconsin car and rusted,bad...never forget this car,,,,326 small v8...so simple...tnx,pat.
You go girl,much respect
I just bought a 67 Tempest myself, mine is a 4 door with a 326 in it. It runs and drives so well now that I pulled the trans and cleaned it up, I swear it had the original trans fluid in it, it was so gunked up I had to pull it and set it in my buddies 18 wheeler parts cleaner for the weekend before I could even take it apart to clean it, but now that it's clean it works like a brand new transmission. The overall plans for it it just to clean it up, do a Rattle can rebuild on the engine, throw some Enkei 92 Wheels on it and i'm going to repint it, I haven't decided what I'm going to paint it yet, originally it was Burgundy poly but sometime in the late 80's or early 90's someone resprayed it a burgundy color but it's not even close to the same color and they didn't gap it. I swear it was a Maaco paint job so I'm thinking I'm going to paint it the Pontiac Plum color since I have to gap it anyway, I might as well change the color to something I like. I should have it ready for paint and shoot the paint over Veterans Day Weekend.
Liv has got to be the only true lady gear head I've ever seen. She knows what she is talking about and is pretty enough to be a model. Why can't there be more ladies like that?
Before you hit the road, be sure to map out your trip to come to Charlotte, NC! And make it on the first Saturday morning of the month to catch our local Cars and Coffee! What a hit that would be!
Glad to see you playin with the Tempest. Always been an A body fan. Can’t wait to see the vision come to life. Rock on Girl !! 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
I had a 66 tempest. Only had the 326 but it was a blast to drive. Cool build
What a difference wheels & tires can make (dog dish caps look correct to the car & good score on the tailight) car looks good 👍 sorry to hear about the OHC 6 oil leak issue...this particular straightline 6 cylinder wasn't always the easiest to get along with but that being said, l think it's awesome that you have one (numbers matching) running & driving...with our current technology, l'm finding it hard to believe the oil leak issue can't be stabilized until your desired drivetrain is ready for installation...l like this car & l like what you're doing with it
My older brother bought 67 Lemans new,it had 326 posi 3 speed Hurst shifter,beautiful car..my first car I owned in 1974 was a 65 tempest convertible 326 auto.paid 125$.my brother's car was 3,200.00$
WOW love it my first car was a 67 lemans 326 then a 67 tempest convertible with ohc 6 and finally my love 💕 67 GTO convertible 4 bbl 4 spd Muncie Rockcrusher 4:56 gears!! 400 with a cam also!!
I love the stance the way it is.
THAT'S A SHARP BLUE COLOR.👍👍👍👍👍
Great to see your Tempest Liv, looking good. I think your wheel and tire choice is perfect for this car. I love a slight rear-up stance on this 67 body style, but that's just me. Keep us informed about your cross-country adventure and maybe we will get you to stop at one of our local car cruise events if you pass through Louisiana on I-10. I love that you plan to restore the OHC-6 and can't wait to see the inside of it.
Stance is perfect the way it is!
Love the progress you have made, I'll keep watching. Love the wheels and tires by the way!
Pontiac always had the best looking cars
Good for you, love the John Delorean design too. Remarkable clean rust free sheet metal. I like the look of the dog dish caps with the beauty rings. Originality is only once but you’ll make the right choice on the engine, personally I’d rebuilt it
I had a 66 tempest with the 326 in 1985/86. Gutless but a very pretty car.
Hey Liv, Pontiac purists are going to say something about it. I think the LS All Aluminum is a great engine choice. This wheel combo give it a kinda sleeper look too. It will be a great car anyway you want to build it.
Hey Liv, That looks great all cleaned up. Also the Rim and Tire combo look Perfect. You can't get rid of that Engine. Pontiac was the first US Manufacturer that made a Overhead Cam Six Cylinder Engine. That is a Piece of American motoring History. I know You said it was not the higher rated Sprint version, But That Car and engine combo is rare now and should be saved. Please don't LS swap it. You said that it would shave some weight of the nose. You are not going to road race this Car so the Difference would not be that much if any, By the time You add every thing to go with the LS I think there would be little to no weight change. I Know it is Your Car and You can do want You want, But It is so complete and original. They are only that way once. Good Luck with Car witch ever way You Go. Cheers.
Nice tempest wheels look great on this car
You have a nice start, I love the 60s Pontiacs
Great treasure you found.
I think you are on your way to having some great fun in this car...Rebuild that engine, redue the interior & keep that stance on it..Everybody once to do an LS swap, but I think you will enjoy it more if you restore to it's original glory.
Awesome starting point. Years ago I found a 64 Chevy II four door, 230 powerglide in real solid worn out condition. I needed a car at the time so I built it to drive. Engine got freshed up, changed gear and trans fluid, new brakes and all associated hardware, firmed up the steering as best as can be done with OE parts. It drove nice enough that I recovered the seats, put an ACC carpet set in, installed a headliner and drove it every day for 18 years. It saw 14 states and climbed the Mt. Washington Auto Road.
Mine had leaked oil for years apparently, it coated the whole floor and kept it from rusting.
Thoughts from an old guy with old car every day experience? Avoid "hot rod" modifications. Stance? Air shocks and lift the rear an inch or two, also helps on road trips when it's loaded. On long drives, I put super tall 15" tires on the back as a sort of hillbilly overdrive, 1.3 miles travelled for every 1 mile on the ODO. Love the wheel choice. I went with 14" rally wheels and started collecting hubcaps. 10 minutes and a screwdriver and I could change the look of the car. Tons of cool 14" caps out there. Good luck with it.
love the wheels on the tempest , looking forward to seeing the progress
Good work keep on rockin in a free world!!!! Sam in 504 with the 69 4dr Cutlass.
The stance is perfect as is!
I had a 67 Lemans with the same motor. lt was so dependable. l would keep the stance as is. I love this car and it's OHC6 engine too!
Great candidate for a big ol LS :-))
perfect wheel and tire combo. Drop the front 1 inch as long as you have no rubbing. Ls will make it a bulletproof long haul cruiser.
One of my 1st cars was a 67 tempest 326 3spd, cool car!
The stance is fine “as is”. Watch for rubbing on passenger side rear, looks tight on bumps. Dump the engine, it has no value.
I’ve only seen a couple of your videos, and I think you are terrific, girl! I am 73, and had a 67 GTO in college back in 70. The car had a short in the electrical system that we never found, and whenever the temp outside dropped well below freezing, it wouldn’t start without a jump.
Very nice GTO, white with black vinyl top and gold vinyl interior with the dual gate A/T. Anyway, power to ya! I was just down in Ojai, maybe close to you.
Hi. My first Car that was handed down to me from my Mom and then my older Sister was a Gold, 67 Pontiac LeMans. Basically the same thing as your Tempest but with a 326 V8 and a Power glide. I was only 15 1/2 and didn’t know any better that LeMans was a world famous race in France. So after a year or so, I ended up trading it to a Friend for a Honda 350 Motor Cycle. Dumb, dumb, dumb. Anyway, brings back old memories seeing yours.
Switchblade to the rescue! I love it how it is those wheels make it pop! Thank you for keeping that 6 it was a rare motor to begin with. Are you gonna repaint it? That factory color is beautiful!👍😎
I like the stance the way it is, but I'm interested to see what you decide. Also, looks really good cleaned up. Finally, I'd see how much can be squeezed out of the original engine, if any.
Looking good Liz ! I like the stance as is... those springs are most likely over 50 years old and they sag over the years so new stock springs will most likely raise it up a little and the L S is lighter so that might lift the front a bit too... i kept the front og springs in my 64 when i rebuilt the front end because i liked the slightly lower stance .. the stock suspension components work well with new ball joints and bushings unless your really going to drive it hard like road coursing or serious drag racing you can save some money and rebuild what you have with maybe some disc brakes up front.
Id keep that 6 cylinder on a stand if you plan on keeping the car as a nice conversation piece and if you sell it someone most likely they would want the og engine... i would. Wheels look great and so do you 👍
Back in 2002 I still had my 66 GTO which was a number two condition all original. At that time I went to look at a tempest for sale in Long Island New York. It was an original 6-cylinder car. It was a darker blue with white interior and the fella had put a 455 Pontiac in with a turbo 400 it was a pretty nice car all he wanted was $8,000 I regret not buying it.
Great Video, Great car, Excellent wheel and tire choice. What I would do is lower it front and back a like amount as long as it's already raked slightly. Otherwise if not on a slight rake, make it happen.
Awesome channel just subscribed. Not sure what`s hotter you are the cars. Leaning towards you, Buuuutttttttttttttt bad ass PONTIAC.
I love it !!! old cars even the smell of old cars when you sit in them. Rat style cars sleepers
Lots of fun
The wheels and tires 👌
