- Subhan, from Rowlands Pharmacy UK recently saw a patient in his ear and hearing health clinic. Our regional trainer Farhan captured this video of an extremely large wax plug removal. After the procedure the patient said she was relieved to notice a remarkable and immediate improvement in her hearing.

I can't imagine what it must have been like having THAT much wax lodged in my ear. I'm sure it was pretty uncomfortable taking it out but the relief MUST be worth it.

it always builds up and you need 1:10 to deep clean it every 6 to 12 months because it keeps getting bigger and bigger. I have the same problem but its not a big deal because she must not have cleaned it for years

When I was in high school I thought I broke my eardrum. My school EENT doctor prescribed some eardrops for a week and when I came back he scooped out a big clump of impacted cerumen. It felt as if I'm hearing with a brand new ear since then.

That's what I'm wondering! Her ear canal must be the size of a child's pinky finger. Or perhaps it's connected to her sinus drains? IDK!
The material more likely consisted of skin than cerumen. The skin of the ear canal continually dies and sloughs of down the canal. For one reason or another, things happen in the ear that prevents the dead skin for migrating. So it builds up, mixing with cerumen and detritus. People with such problems need to have someone to clear the canal on a routine basis.
That is crazy and oddly satisfying. 😂 I've never seen wax come out like string before.
It’s not actually wax, it’s just dead skin that hasn’t migrated out of the ear naturally.

How can you not know waaaay before it gets that bad? This didn't happen overnight.
If it happened over night she would have notice it. The other ear is probably working well and in general she could hear just fine.
I thought the same thing. There's no way she had that much ear wax in that ear & didn't previously notice something wasn't right. I'd notice! Not to mention, if she's elderly, it seems that she should've had her ears checked at the dr before it got that bad! Weird!
