My favorite moment 49:30. If you look at the faces of everyone besides the sax player, you can see that no one else was ready for that fakeout ending. But I didn't even notice this across several listens. If you didn't have video, you might not even know, they blend it so well. It's always so impressive to me how professional jazz musicians of this caliber connect on stage.

Now he's mine too. Not a musician, nor musicologist, etc. What struck me most about his playing was the controlled power. If it was a punch no doubt you'd be dead on contact - the corpse would never be found.
After a lifetime of listening to Bird I don't think that music has got that much further out - or can. These modern masters have all spread what was the preserve of an esoteric few throughout the world.
I love so much of what comes out of Emmets place. I thought this was not right up there. Some of the greatest Bird tunes played a bit more authentically (Koko, Ornithology, Anthropology, Cool blues, All the Things, Yardbird Suite just to name a few) would have been better - just a thought from a 40 year Bird devotee.
The guys that put thumbs down means no understanding at all what is going on because someone who is learning or is a master value the art and beautiful music these guys have put together. Thumbs down means frustration and you should go and play music yourself to get rid off it.
Would I expect anything less other than pure satisfaction??? Thank you Emmett. You have been blessed with talent from up above 🙏 #kettle2themetalkettlecorn.
Great great show as always, I would love to see Justin come back at a later date, to do a tribute show to Roy Hargrove, with Giveton Gelin on trumpet, and play some of Roy's music! How about it Emmet?
Wow this is sax heaven bout to crank this up on a speaker as I do my homework
Wish you were in that jam ,man.!
@Saxologic imagine how great this is for pianists, we get to go up to piano heaven every single session with Emmet Cohen haha

Sarah - you tore it up, girl…shred it to pieces…We felt your soul pour out before us - and we’re still picking up what’s left. 😩🙌🏽
Sarah Hanahan, Yes!!! You blew it up!!! You took them all to another level of honesty and intensity! Sarah's sound is reminiscent of Jackie McLean.
From the sofa to the bandstand in just 2 steps, Justin Robinson on alto.
I love the relaxed environment of Emmet's Place!
Wow, Sarah really takes that McLean's influences to the sky, marvellous!!!
Sarah's blowing some burning lines!!🔥🔥🎼🎶
love eddie barbash very versitile player love that cl;assic sound

Terrific set. Just One of Those Things is a Cole Porter tune (and burning!).
@swingbossa - so appreciate it! a blazing set 🔥
First time hearing Sarah Hanahan. She kills! Great set as usual Emmet, keep doing what you do.
Justin sounds amazing on Now's the Time. They all sound great!
Damn Yasushi sounding good! Those quarter notes are FAT!
1:17:41
Fuck yeah they are!! The way bass should sound!
Justin's one of my favorite sax men. What a great night of music thank you all.
Now he's mine too. Not a musician, nor musicologist, etc. What struck me most about his playing was the controlled power. If it was a punch no doubt you'd be dead on contact - the corpse would never be found.
Ay. She killin.
That rendition of Estrellita makes me cry! what a great player is Eddie Barbash
Make an album of that bluegrass fiddle bee bop mash up - I can’t get enough!
The second fiddle tune played by Barbash sounds just like Bye and Bye. I love it, swings like mad. What a sound!
The amount of love and positive vibes is making me stay up way past my bed time . Bright moments, Bob
Any day with Cole Porter is a good one, great set!
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!
Awesome bass solo by Yasushi Nakamura on Parker's Mood! Sarah Hanahan is killin' it, too. 💯🔥
After a lifetime of listening to Bird I don't think that music has got that much further out - or can. These modern masters have all spread what was the preserve of an esoteric few throughout the world.
Everyone is excellent; but I think Yasushi and Sarah go above and beyond in daring to try out in-the-moment new ideas!
Absolutely magnificient... Thank you for keeping da music alive!
I love so much of what comes out of Emmets place.

Host Joel Frahm!
sarah is the greatest….that tone
I think I've just caught a dose of Altosis. 🎷
Evan Sherman the young Professor at work
Yasushi's bass sounds so cool
what an epic show!

Bird was inthe house tonite!!
Deliciós!. Gràcies
This channel is freaking awesome - Thanks for playing for us!
Bebop as it was meant to be played. This was in a word perfect. Thanks.
Awesome Sarah on Little Melonae. Big fan here on Rt. Framingham. Your old neck of the woods.
Great great show as always, I would love to see Justin come back at a later date, to do a tribute show
to Roy Hargrove, with Giveton Gelin on trumpet, and play some of Roy's music! How about it Emmet?
a great vision @Manzajazz - we’ve got such worthy trumpeters, ready & equipped to show their love to Roy.
THE REAL BE BOP!
Sarah's sound remind me of the South Africa altoist Zim Nqwana
33:16 polka dots and moonbeams!
i see sarah is cooking on night and day on the yanigawsia silver
Just one of those things is burning!!
I disagree - all of those things were burning!! Haha.
Awesome!
Super dope!
Baddest cats in the land
Next year Luigi Grasso please!
also i believe Just One Of Those Things was actually a Cole Porter tune, not Gershwin.
yes, my friend - definitely Cole Porter!…the Gershwin credit was intended for Embraceable You.
- a typo…& just one of those things 🤭…💋
When a session with Chad LB and Lucy Yeghiazaryan ?
is that a gut G string? kinda interesting
Contrast of styles. Barbash seems to have a Klesmer root. I like it, it's different. Other players are whailers. Youngsters. :)
eddie now looks like a young jim snidero
They rescued the outro of Tico Tico before going back to the head.
Staz masgivin vouso ruiny
Why this tempo, faster man
what song lol
I do not like that style at all. 😀
That style does not like you at all. 😀
Has that mustache got a vaccine pass?!
