I think the boss VE 500 is better i had both ....good thing with the harmony on here is that your harmony works with a line in .....music backing or guitar ...
A great vocal pedal. Very easy to navigate and doesn't feel like you're menu diving every 10 seconds. The effects are excellent. HOWEVER, I had to send it back for a refund because of the harmony algorithm. The harmonies sound good, but the 'fixed' algorithm is too stiff. Example: If you're in the key of G and you sing a 'D' with the harmonizer set at '3rd up' it will generate an F#. That is diatonically correct, but if you're playing a G chord at the time the harmony makes it into a Gmaj7. That stiffness was a deal breaker for me. The 'intelligent' harmony of the VE500 or a TC Helicon Harmony Singer 2 is vastly superior. The VE22 would be good if you specialized in vocal effects with the odd harmony thrown in. If you want harmony with a few effects thrown in look elsewhere.

It looks like a great pedal. I’ve yet to see it used live on stage. Like most boss stuff I very rarely see live use apart from the classic foot pedals. However like most Boss gear you need to spend time getting to know what it can do. For me a wireless hand button would have been a great idea first a singer instead of searching with your foot.

@@JohnPaulMusicUK lol yeah. Well it would be easier to navigate the effects and make patches! Anyway thanks to one of your videos I don’t think I’ll need this. So I’ll probably not need any potential VE-8 upgrade but I think an update with all the usual boss effects with a screen like this one would be a very good product.
I stopped the video and came to the comments to find this one. Not having chord follow means no key changes, no non-diatonic harmonies. It's really limiting
Knowing Roland/Boss it’s all the same algorithms haha but I’m not sure. I’m very satisfied with the sound of my VE-500 but I’m not using drastic effects. Just the sound gooderizer stuff plus reverb

@@dhikiramandhapoetra is your problem that the vocal seems too quiet? I think I can help with that. Go to Menu>Input and adjust the mic sensitivity so your loudest singing barely touches the arrow. I’m not sure if I understood you but I don’t think compressing is your problem. I hope this helps 👍
I've seen several comments regarding TC Helicon vs. the BOSS vocal processors. Of course there are A LOT of musicians who are way more familiar with vocal processors than myself! ;) I am not a musician, and don't play an instrument; I sing. I own 3 TC Helicon units, including a VoiceLive 2. Each one requires you to input music , or an instrument to determine the song key for harmonies automatically, OR to allow the "room sense" mic on the unit to "listen" for the music, to determine the key for harmonies automatically (which is not to great if playing in a room where there is some noise, which could confuse the unit). The whole reason I bought the BOSS VE-22 is because it does NOT have to feature to automatically figure out the song key for harmonies. I don't mind setting the song key manually, and intend to have a User setting for each and every song key, as a preset. My TC-Helicon Perform V is simple to use for doubling, reverb, and echo, and it is supposed to allow you to "beam" harmony presets to the unit, but the software needed for my phone will not load! I get a message that I need an older phone! Funny, my phone IS old. I could load the presets with my laptop, but I don't want to lug around a laptop to every gig! Maybe I'll also play around with the VoiceLive 2 some more, and try and run music from my looper directly into the unit, and play with the harmonies. Thanks.
Understand. My VE-2 works with guitar or not. It IS cool to hear it shift when I bring in a 7th chord or something, but often setting the key is best… except it’s impossible to see on the floor lol. I might grab one of these to test out for the presets. I broke my wrist so just been singing and keep forgetting to turn that knob to the right key lol. Doublet is fine, but just a light touch of harmony can really make certain parts of a performance come to life. I’m just surprised nobody has nailed this. I would love to be a lead designer and work with artists to make this live friendly and more intuitive. As a guitarist, I know that physical switches are easiest and lights that verify exactly what settings are active. I better see the Key bright and center!
That’s a very interesting take and have only had time today to read it. Thank you for this. For singers with backing tracks who want harmonies, one of the best is still the TC-Helicon Voicelive 3 Extreme. Reason is it had an SD card slot for backing tracks but you could also record the pedal presses, meaning that the harmonies and other effects could come on at the right time without you even pressing a pedal! Great for it your no near it on stage! Shame TC-Helicon isn’t what it used to be.
Without Auto-Harmony?? Honestly I don't understand why Boss in the middle of 2024 does such a thing. I had the VE-20, I sold it because It sang outside the tone, I moved to Ve-2 which is the best of all. Even better than VE-500. I thought, however, this one, with this wonderful display, would be my new love. But it seems not !! What a pity boss. 😥😥
hello ! thx for this amazing review! after watching this i decided to buy this one😂 i have just one question!! Does it provide monitoring system in live performance? through its phones/line out ?? if it does, it would be perfect for me 😢
you could use the phones and still have the main out going as well so wired monitoring is possible but never even seen the Cloud Vocal before. cool product. alternative is this tiny thing: ruclips.net/video/_fjf7_kAUWs/видео.htmlsi=q9guD6ZWjV8FXtgo
Had the TC helicon.. This seems like a nice unit. I used the effects from the boss gigcaster 8. Did not like it and controls sucked in my opinion. Does This boss have the T-PAIN effect? Sold the boss gigcaster 8. Missed my Mackie DLZ.. Will be delivered today. So maybe This combo will workout nicely.. Regards.. Thanks for all the effort!
Thanks a lot again! Pity that it has no "auto-Key" and no midi,.... to change the key as a standing guitarist! Maybe with an extra pedal!!? Might just change my RC600 to this....
So the way round this is either stay on the same patch and use a pedal to go up and down the key.. or, more simply, program the pedal up so you use more than one of the 99 patches and they have different keys on and use the pedals in the program switch mode to go up and down patches (memories) switching to the pre programmed key. 👍🏻
same here! VE500 is a great machine but what really upsets me is the looper stopping when you change presets. Even V-20 allowed to sing over the loop through any FX!
Boss/Roland often do this. I had the RC50, firmware update were rare. Then I got the RC505 and it has profound MIDI limitations that Boss promises to fixes. They didn't, instead they released the MKII and left us behind. Very frustrating.
@@NicleT I really like the looper in Helicon VoiceLive Touch 2. But FX-mangling abilities of VE-500 are much stronger! SO, there is still no perfect chonice...
"Left for dead" is BOSS's motto. When you buy their stuff, never ever expect it to evolve beyond the day you bought it. BOSS makes great products but they never give them the final polish to make the most of them.
I just looked through the manual, there is no AUTO KEY function. I wish there was a "KEY" knob like on the Zoom for direct access. For the similar price the Voicelive Touch 2 has auto key from the room sense mic or other input which you can disable.
Hey! Amazing video! Lemme ask you something, Im a VE 20 user and I've got a problem with it as I can't or haven't figure out how to use a personalized effect with wich I can use a delay and a double harmony voice sepparatedly, I mean, if I program in one, a delay and a double harmony, I can use delay alone (turning off the harmony pedal) but I can't use the double harmony alone in the same effect without the delay (as the delay only works with ON-OFF/play pedal). That's complicated for my live shows because there are parts in a same songs where I need one and another (combined and for separate). As I understand in this new VE-22 model that problem it's solved as you have a pedal for each one of them (harmony and effect pedals) and you can select to use sepparetedly, right? sorry for my rusty english, you rock!
@@BarrabasAntipas it stands for musical instrument digital interface. It has so many uses I can’t describe them all in a RUclips comment but one thing I use it for is matching the delay time on my guitar fx and vocal fx
I'm an acoustic player, and use the VE-20. Why? Because is has the best vocal sound, hard stop. I understand the better display and a bit more versatility in the VE-22. Does it have more/better presets to work with than the VE-20? What specific improvements will I experience during a live performance? It's a big financial jump from one to the other. Great review, and thank you!
Thanks for the great video. I find the 'memory pedal' and 'manual pedal' functions confusing. If you want to make a video on that I'm sure it would be appreciated!
Thank you John Paul for this amazing informative video. I'm using the Ve20 for the past 12 years.. it's still going strong and gets the job done. Should I upgrade to this? Is it worth it?
Personally, this is a lot of menu diving and secondary, even thirdierarty functions to keep up with. I know that’s a Boss thing but when I’m playing live, the last thing I want to do is tinker with buttons
I just returned it. It a good machine. Easy to navigate with nice reverb and delay. Enhance and eq options are good. But the harmony just doesn’t work without an instrument in. What a pity.
I just use the Boss double/triple voice rather than the harmony but the 'pitch correction', even at 'soft' is a bit wonky. VE22 dynamics and basic tone are amazing though.

I noticed that effect pedal switch can be set to either momentary or toggle. You said that if you turn off the effect or switch preset, effects won't have tail but they turn on and off immediately, but does it work that way in momentary as well? I'd like to have e.g. delay or huge reverb as momentary for single word and be able to leave it background while singining continues. Thanks for great video John!
Some things I like: it sounds good, and looks to have a good UX. What I don't like: the ve-22 seems to be primarily suited to using only in the studio, and not live, and only using one patch in a song. IMHO, it looks cool, but not having MIDI, and not seamlessly switching between patches really diminish the product.
Hi JP. Nice Review. Is it possible to link the VE-22 with the RC-600, to enable your changing the harmonies in the verse to different harmonies in the chorus as you click between them on the 600?
Just thought what would you choose the TC helicon live vocal player Or the boss ve- 22 I've been waiting over a month for my boss ve- 22 but the store are having problems with Rolland delivery and they have offered the TC helicon with credit left any thoughts on what's best as I gig a lot and need effect s soon as
The question is: what do you need out of a pedal? Do you need auto harmony? Do you need midi? Do you need synchronous effects? Which TC Helicon are they offering?
Boss VE 500 is still my fav one for harmony ....you can link it to a line in - so auito harmony on a backing track or guitar ....only the old tc helicon and this boss ve 500 do that
Thanks for the review. Two questions, are the 3 big buttons on the bottom designed to use your foot to trigger them? And can you assign a foot pedal to any of the effects, so for example you want more delay in a certain section of the song you can use a foot pedal to bring that in.
Is it weird that I just watched a video of the Boss VE 8 and it DOES have the chord recognition ability with the harmonies yet this "brand new" 22 unit doesn't? WTF Boss 🙃🤔🙈
Hi and thanks very much for the excellent video ! I’ve just bought my Boss VE-22 and am enjoying discovering the system ! I’m trying to replicate a perfect version of the intro in the hit record Wayward Son by Kansas. I am the vocalist in my band and am wondering….. 1. Obviously I need to start with zero effects etc. (dry) through the mixing desk. 2. Any bits of advice to get the required effects ??? Cheers
I have the Boss VE-500, VE-20 and now the VE-22. In the previous two, pitch correction is its own block just like Dynamics. In the VE-22, it is under the effects section so it does not appear you can use pitch correction with any other effect such as chorus for example. Is this correct because that almost seems like a step back from the VE-20? Its a shame because I would love to have a subtle pitch correction with the really great chorus sound in the VE-22. Unfortunately i sold my VE-20 and VE-500 right before receiving the new VE-22 unit. Is there a way to use pitch correction and another effect at the same time like you can in the VE-20.
@@ruffsilk2 I'm waiting to hear back from my Roland Rep. However, I've tried to figure this out and even from the manual it really looks like Pitch correction is not available as an "always on" option as it was in the previous ve-20. You need to choose it as an effect. This means you cannot use it in conjunction with any other effect. I have actually repurchased a VE-500 for only a few dollars more than the VE-22. I've had the Ve-22 for a few weeks and I'm sending it back. I will be making a video on this issue so people don't get stuck.
I bought a Voicelive back in 2006, 18 years ago, that did NOT have auto harmonies. Yet, you could purchase a separate audio to midi attachment that would make that possible. A year or so later, they came out with the Harmony G-XT, which DID follow the guitar for harmonies. So, 17 years ago. What is wrong with Boss? It's not even a separate anything they have to add to it - just add to the programming. It's a deal breaker to almost ALL musicians I know. Bad move.
It’s a shame isn’t it. And its predecessor didn’t either and that was a hit! Some people clearly either don’t need it or it’s just not part of what they do?
Question: do you turn off all basic effects on your mixer (e.g. - reverb and echo), and instead set those basic effects for your mic through the BOSS VE-22? The reason I ask: I'm thinking that if you have effects turned on via your mixer, and then you start using effects via the BOSS VE-22 vocal processor, you might get more than you bargained for (e.g. - hearing your VE-22 effect, impacted some by the effects set on your mixer!). I hope that makes sense. I just got my BOSS VE-22, and am going to start experimenting with it. Thx for the lesson! You're a great teacher! ;)
@@JohnPaulMusicUK Thank you so much for your response. I'm going to watch your videos again. I'm trying to figure out some things with this device. Man, the directions are voluminous, and printed fairly small (and seem to have been translated from Japanese! ;) ). I want to get the most out of this box.

So it doesn't automatically set harmonizing key with guitars or other other instruments. I guess VE-500 or VoiceLive 3 are still the better options for people who sing and play instruments at the same time. Here in Japan, VE-22 is more expensive, but VE-500 has more functions... Interesting.
curious on your thoughts - my sing is mediocre at best, fair to poor is more a reality. I'd like to get to the point, while I'll never be a good singer, to get to the point where I can play, sing, and not offend and scare people... basically smooth out my voice, correct pitches and tones a bit. (going to get a few vocal lessons as well) Considering the VE22 or 8, in conjunction with the MIC Mechanic (also would be going into an amp with some chorus and reverb settings that could be used Boss Acoustic). Thoughts? Is there another pedal I can add to help those two?? setting ideas?
As the risk of a dangerous comment, it totally depends on your own singing ability. a VE-8 and a TC-Helion Mic Mechanic would be good. or the harmony singer 2. The VE-22 has these features and maybe its worth a try with one.. just need to make a few presets that sound good for you.
Microphone volume control! I've had the VE 22 for two weeks. At the first rehearsal with the band, the microphone was much too quiet, even though the control was set to 85. Are there other ways to influence the volume?
First of all, your videos are very helpful, thank you very much for them. I had already seen this one. Up until now I had the VE20. Here the volume was set to 60 and it was always perfect. Can you also adjust the volume of the individual presets? I haven't found it yet?
Hey John, amazing videos! Have you been able to get the "Aux In" 3.5mm jack for backing tracks to not just be in the headphones but also in the USB-C mix? Is that even possible?
This is a great pedal. I have the VE20. BUT I also have the Gigcaster and I 'think' that has pretty much the same effects/processor as this one. Can someone confirm? Thanks.
Thanks for the video! I was wondering if the VE22 has an indicator that shows the battery level? I plan on using it without the power adapter but if it doesnt have a warning system then I'd be better off buying the power adapter
So a warning sign comes up on the display showing ‘BATTERY LOW’ meaning that it is in the last part of the battery. The manual or parameter guide doesn’t say when that battery low indicator kicks in.. and can only find it when using phantom power. Would be great to see a percentage. Alkaline batteries will give you the best performance. 6hrs with phantom power and 9hrs without phantom. If you are worried then you could always use an external power supply like I use which runs multiple things and lasts for HOURS (and has a battery indicator: ruclips.net/video/8XAbKm71dVo/видео.htmlsi=vqDhCagNPt1lh0Ha
Yes that is the case. The way around this is by getting an FS6 or FS7 external pedal and you can assign that as the looper or as the memory up and down.
I have a question regarding Boss VE-2, I play the accordion and sing so would like to have the ve-2 on a stand up high to where I can change the key knob but was wondering if I can add a pedal to turn on and off since I’ll have the ve-2 up high there for will need a pedal at the bottom or vise versa maybe leave ve-2 on floor and add something to change the key knob 🤷🏻♂️
So using the new VE-22 you could have that up on your stand and then have something like an FS-6 or FS-7 pedal at your feet plugged into the Footswitch input. That way you can control the key knob and still have control of things at your feet. 👍🏻 Hope that helps
Hi, thanks for the review. I was wondering if there's a way to put a permanent reverb, even with the "echo" turned off. Like the VE-20 could do....I would love to use the delay effect in a seperate way (it should be in the effects, not in the echo), right now it's impossible as I see and it's kinda of a step back...
Was really hoping this unit had guitar input and /or midi. Without it it, it's a pass. I wanted to upgrade my VE-2, but looks like I'll have to look elsewhere.
@@JohnPaulMusicUK Yep, I did, but I wasn't a fan of the harmonies on it, and didn't like that there was no guitar effects either. If the VE-22 had guitar/midi input I would have snapped it up. Now may go back to looking at old TC Helicon products instead. :/
Technically you could do that but a couple of issues you might run into. 1) couldn’t use anything that needs phantom power 2) unable to use the harmony when both are singing as it will confuse the engine of what to harmonise with but should be okay if one is singing or singing in unison. 3) certain effects might sound strange 4) be careful of the input gain and make sure there is a similar volume for each.. different voices can have different volumes. 5) might be better to put both vocals into a small mixer and then the output of that mixer into the VE-22 - this will help with balance. Hope this helps
The Ve-22 has a compressor and also a noise suppressor built in (NS) - the noise suppressor would be the one to play around with so it only lets audio over a certain value / level. I would look at that or have a good mic with very good rear rejection. 👍🏻
I just bought VE 8 now. I don't like the thing that it can't recognize a chord for harmony. I just waited for this for a long time and I'm disappointed.
Yes you can . Have a look at this video of the 50 presets and things like the radio effect has 10 different kinds of radio with distortion - ruclips.net/video/H_RZWGO4q4s/видео.htmlsi=VLCMkoJZrOxrbYN2 Hope it’s helpful.
Hi, can you explain how the auto pitch correction works? Does the key of each song your playing have to be programmed into the unit to make it work properly? When I think of "auto", shouldn't it correct it to the best note your singing in instead of having to program every song?
Hello John!Hello! I connected the ve-22 to the PC after downloading the drivers and installing them, the word updater appeared on the screen and the harmony button flashes blue, is this correct? If I try to start the application on the PC it tells me it can't find the device, can you help me?
Just been going through the manual and the parameter guide and it doesn’t look like there is a mute option for the buttons, either the main ones or Ctrl 1/2. Shame.
@@JohnPaulMusicUK I bought one and have managed to use the 'Assign' option on a button to reduce output to zero… so a workaround exists. 👍 I’m actually very happy with the unit although I wish I could sync the bpm over midi with my rc5 looper like I do with other FX. Thanks for getting back to me… I appreciate your content.
Hi again. Would you know how to set the harmony pedal to set tap tempo in manual mode. I can only find a solution for using it this way in memory mode which means you have to switch between modes to set the tap tempo. Good luck whiskey song. It’s a winner. Brendan

Hi John; is this unit capable of sending only harmony out without melody?
Without Auto-Harmony?? Honestly I don't understand why Boss in the middle of 2024 does such a thing.
I had the VE-20, I sold it because It sang outside the tone, I moved to Ve-2 which is the best of all. Even better than VE-500.
I thought, however, this one, with this wonderful display, would be my new love. But it seems not !! What a pity boss. 😥😥
That’s a shame and interesting you prefer the VE-2. Is that cause of the way it harmonises?
Thanks so much for this, I am thinking of replacing my TC helicon voicelive 2 for this as my pedal.
sell me the helicon
hello ! thx for this amazing review! after watching this i decided to buy this one😂 i have just one question!!
Really great video ! Thanks
My question is simple. Is it supplied with power lead ?
Had the TC helicon.. This seems like a nice unit. I used the effects from the boss gigcaster 8. Did not like it and controls sucked in my opinion. Does This boss have the T-PAIN effect? Sold the boss gigcaster 8. Missed my Mackie DLZ.. Will be delivered today. So maybe This combo will workout nicely.. Regards.. Thanks for all the effort!
That’s interesting.
Would love to hear from you again once you have your DLZ back and this and see how you find it. 😊
Hey. John thanks for this superb vdo. Does this work equally good for acoustic instruments like Sitar Sarod?
I don’t see why not. 👍🏻
I have the VE500 and would like to see some updates - they've essentially left it for dead.
Exactly. The auto key pedal for Boss is the VE-500
Impressive review, great job, thanks!
More than welcome 🙏
I still think the VE-500 is the way to go, despite being a bit pricy and a UI nightmare.
Auto-harmony and MIDI in make it worth the hassle.
What’s MIDI ?
What’s
This do ?
Will do! Thank you for the idea!
Thank you John Paul for this amazing informative video. I'm using the Ve20 for the past 12 years.. it's still going strong and gets the job done.
Should I upgrade to this? Is it worth it?
Have a look at the list of effects on both and make sure you’re not missing anything. 👍🏻
Personally, this is a lot of menu diving and secondary, even thirdierarty functions to keep up with. I know that’s a Boss thing but when I’m playing live, the last thing I want to do is tinker with buttons
Yeah I hear that!
I just returned it. It a good machine. Easy to navigate with nice reverb and delay. Enhance and eq options are good. But the harmony just doesn’t work without an instrument in. What a pity.
That’s a shame. It’s a lot of prep to program and get the harmony right without following an Instrument.
Hey 👋
Unfortunately I haven’t found a way to do it as there is no midi on the VE-22. It’s like a standalone unit.
Ace vlog ! Is this good for a singer in a band that only use two different keys? I wanted it for the dynamics and efx mostly!
Yes 👍🏻 100%
You can have multiple patches and switch between them whilst performing.
Just thought what would you choose the TC helicon live vocal player
Or the boss ve- 22
I've been waiting over a month for my boss ve- 22 but the store are having problems with Rolland delivery and they have offered the TC helicon with credit left any thoughts on what's best as I gig a lot and need effect s soon as
The question is: what do you need out of a pedal? Do you need auto harmony? Do you need midi? Do you need synchronous effects?
Which TC Helicon are they offering?
Boss VE 500 is still my fav one for harmony ....you can link it to a line in - so auito harmony on a backing track or guitar ....only the old tc helicon and this boss ve 500 do that
Thanks for the review. Two questions, are the 3 big buttons on the bottom designed to use your foot to trigger them? And can you assign a foot pedal to any of the effects, so for example you want more delay in a certain section of the song you can use a foot pedal to bring that in.
Yes and yes. 👍🏻
Is there a way to use pitch correction and another effect at the same time like you can in the VE-20.
have you figured out a solution for this yet? its making me hesitant to buy
You're a great teacher! ;)
Absolutely! You’re gonna get a double effect or worse double compression which could really lower the sound and reduce the quality.
@@JohnPaulMusicUK Thank you so much for your response. I'm going to watch your videos again. I'm trying to figure out some things with this device. So it doesn't automatically set harmonizing key with guitars or other other instruments. I guess VE-500 or VoiceLive 3 are still the better options for people who sing and play instruments at the same time. Here in Japan, VE-22 is more expensive, but VE-500 has more functions... Interesting.
I’m using the boss ve 20 now. Should I upgrade?
curious on your thoughts - my sing is mediocre at best, fair to poor is more a reality.
It was pretty sad that Boss did not have that pedal at there booth for the 2024 winter NAMM show. More info on U Tube.
Interesting 🤔
NAMM has certainly changed.
Microphone volume control! I've had the VE 22 for two weeks. At the first rehearsal with the band, the microphone was much too quiet, even though the control was set to 85. Are there other ways to influence the volume?
Oh really?! And where was the main out?
Did you do this? ruclips.net/user/shorts1cGVMMZw_ag?si=P4MKXixyzwYWr45P
How do you feel this unit compares to VE500?
The VE-500 is still the top dog for Boss VE range as it has Auto harmonies and also midi.
@@JohnPaulMusicUKbetter than the one in this Videos?
thank you very much for the video!
This unit have a vocoder robot like effect, like the ve-20?

This is a great pedal. I have the VE20. BUT I also have the Gigcaster and I 'think' that has pretty much the same effects/processor as this one. Can someone confirm? Thanks.
Haven’t checked yet but have a look at the parameter guides for both online and cross reference them.
Thank you!
How do you change memory up while looping? I saw that it’s possible to press memory down, but the memory up is the same loop button.
Hope that helps
Excellent demo, thanks
Welcome 🙏
Where do you set the mic gain? This should be the 1st thing shown and described. I see, there s a knob at the rear for sens.
Menu > Mic there is a dial for mic sensitivity on the back plus a low and high gain switch.
@@JohnPaulMusicUK thx man
honest question. can i stomp on it like a normal effect pedal?
Yes
Is there a way to smoothen the pitch correct. I can still hear the steps instead of gliding to the correct note.
great vid! does this have autotune for rap vocals? didn’t see it but maybe i missed it.
Yes. Have a look here: ruclips.net/video/H_RZWGO4q4s/видео.htmlsi=M1RQYPoU6dMlqp9w
Does this have midi functionality so you can change effects during a set?
No I’m afraid not.
I want one 😢😢😢. So beautiful.
Links in the description box 😉
Was really hoping this unit had guitar input and /or midi. Without it it, it's a pass. I wanted to upgrade my VE-2, but looks like I'll have to look elsewhere.
Ever considered the VE-500?
@@JohnPaulMusicUK Yep, I did, but I wasn't a fan of the harmonies on it, and didn't like that there was no guitar effects either. If the VE-22 had guitar/midi input I would have snapped it up. Now may go back to looking at old TC Helicon products instead. :/
What’s is MIDI
Can you connect two microphones (with a Y cable) for two different singers, that is one singing first voice and one singing a 3rd above??
Technically you could do that but a couple of issues you might run into.
1) couldn’t use anything that needs phantom power
2) unable to use the harmony when both are singing as it will confuse the engine of what to harmonise with but should be okay if one is singing or singing in unison.
3) certain effects might sound strange
4) be careful of the input gain and make sure there is a similar volume for each.. different voices can have different volumes.
5) might be better to put both vocals into a small mixer and then the output of that mixer into the VE-22 - this will help with balance.
Hope this helps
@JohnPaulMusicUK thank you much!
When I'm on stage, how do I minimize microphone feedback with VE-22?
The Ve-22 has a compressor and also a noise suppressor built in (NS) - the noise suppressor would be the one to play around with so it only lets audio over a certain value / level.
I would look at that or have a good mic with very good rear rejection. 👍🏻
@@JohnPaulMusicUK Got it! I'll try it out. Thank you so much!
I just bought VE 8 now. I don't like the thing that it can't recognize a chord for harmony. I just waited for this for a long time and I'm disappointed.
Yeah the VE range doesn’t look like it’s meant for chord harmony recognition. Shame.
I guess you didn't check this video comments. Always best to do a little research before buying gear, real user comments.
No automatic harmonies based on sensing chords from internal mics. Hard pass for me. TC Helicon VoiceLive still rules.
What’s better TC or the Boss VE 2 ?
Question: Can this fully replace the features of the VT 4? and the E4?
What is the VT4 and E4? Sorry.
@@JohnPaulMusicUK They are Roland machines that could be considered prequels. (Roland owns Boss, so a lot of the tech is exchanged)

Hi, can you explain how the auto pitch correction works? Does the key of each song your playing have to be programmed into the unit to make it work properly? When I think of "auto", shouldn't it correct it to the best note your singing in instead of having to program every song?
The "best note your singing in" depends entirely on what key you are in. I really don't think you want chromatic pitch correction.
No chord tracking? What a shame. I think I have to stay with my 11 yr old TCH VLP GTX.
Ahhh the GTX. Love it 🥰
I mistakenly sold my auto harmony ve2 when got the rc600... Only to find out my assumption was wrong that the auto harmony would be there... Painful
Arrgghh.. yeah.. the only other way is via midi on the RC600

I use a headset mic. I need to be able to mute my signal without a ‘pop’. Can I set up a button to completely mute my signal?
Just been going through the manual and the parameter guide and it doesn’t look like there is a mute option for the buttons, either the main ones or Ctrl 1/2. Shame.
@@JohnPaulMusicUK I bought one and have managed to use the 'Assign' option on a button to reduce output to zero… so a workaround exists. 👍 I’m actually very happy with the unit although I wish I could sync the bpm over midi with my rc5 looper like I do with other FX. Thanks for getting back to me… I appreciate your content.
