The first party keyboard not working without installing Windows update is peak Microsoft 😇
It worked during windows setup at 4:45, I think it freeze and windows update has nothing to do with it.
This is typical keyboard behaviour for any Surface Pro since the first version. Usually detach and reattach fixes it, or sometimes you have to shut down the Surface itself. You’d think they’d have fixed it over 11 revisions!
you need to get some glasses really quick.
Fr my 3 year with windows was really bad, use a mac mini now
I don’t care if it worked for even 1 second; the fact it froze and required a Windows update (or probably a restart) to fix it is mind boggling to say the least. My primary laptop is a Windows laptop and I face issues every now and then. It’s common.
closing steam, but its running in the background ;)
Great review! Thank you 🙏
It is such a gift quality and a pleasure way to distribute helpful information to the subscribers. I've had a lot of fun seeing your gorgeous videos. Thanks.
Thanks for sharing. Blessings on your day.
Thanks a lot for the review. Is the new keyboard compatible with Surface Pro 7 (both as connected to Pro 7 and as standalone keyboard ) as well?
Great video as always 😊
5:14 you chose to add additional layout, that why it asked you twice.
Great review and the video from the laptop looked good.
I have been still using my surface pro 6 and finally broke down and just ordered the pro 11. I had to update my keyboard also as the one I have is too old. However the old 3 power adapters I guess and docking station should work. Anyway the Surface pro blows away any tablet when traveling etc as you can actually work on it for Powerpoint, emails, etc. Sometimes when I had to carry my work laptop and surface pro in my bag it was like nothing to carry. The keyboard is a must and the only negative is that it is expensive. However my old pro6 lasted forever and I expect this new pro11 to last me at least 10 years. Looking forward to using it and being updated.
On the new Ipad you can scan documents with the camera, is there a similar feature on the surface pro?
solid review! be great to have a more thorough indication of battery life durations after you put it to real world test
Thanks for sharing, i really like the Surface devices
Great Video Aaron , So PWM in the last few last laptops i have tired have hurt my eyes (totally sucks). This SP11 felt like it was in the beginning, I do feel it has gotten alittle better. Could this be a better display and might work for me??
Thrilled to hear that you like the haptic touchpad, which is powered by Sensel's haptics technology. Thanks, Zollo! 🙏
It asked you to select the keyboard layout again because you chose to add a secondary language
Am guessing by the end of the year we will be able to buy this as a bundle with the keyboard and pen from Costco for cheaper.
Hi Aaron! Could you test the Xbox app and more "indie" or "low fidelity" games?
I have an XSS with GamePass Ultimate but on the go it would nice if i could play low demamding games like rougelite games, metroidvania games and such, but I'm not even sure the new chip allows that. Thanks!
I still have my surface pro 8 and I love it
The camera quality is impressive the fact you can add third party cameras and get such bitrate is amazing.
1 min in and I feel like this is the best surface pro review so far
The promise from Qualcomm with the Snapdragon X Elite is you don't have to use it plugged in. What is the performance when using it on battery?
Damn, that blue color really makes the Surface Pro 11 stand out!
It's a solid device. Software needs need to iron out some kinks. The future of Windows on ARM looking promising finally.
"And for whatever reason the mouse stopped working" ... that's basically the story of why I started using a MBP (along with a few other niceties). Yes, there are things I miss about Windows, but overall, I am just happier with a Mac. My last Windows laptop was the original Surface Book (which was fantastic when it worked right but had random issues ... like disconnecting the tablet from the keyboard randomly). Hopefully the issues are fixed after the updates are installed, but my experience suggests it isn't.
I am glad MS continues to innovate new products, though. I think their client base and the industry are better off for it. And I'm glad to see Qualcomm has finally made a SoC worth putting into a laptop (or really, anything beyond a smartphone ... that SQ3 was a dumpster fire).
when the keyboard is detached, it still works, right? Is there a way to turn it off when you do have it detached? On my current surface tablet, I sometimes detach the KB and leave it off to the side and sometimes, on accident, I hit the keyboard. Im thankful that its not on, but with this new version it works wirelessly - I just want to be able to turn it off completely at times.
doesnt look like it. seems like it was meant to manage itself and just sleep
You can use the older keyboards from Surface Pro X and up on the new one too. I bought the cheaper keyboard version and it's completely fine for me. I already have a nice wireless logitech keyboard.
I have the 32g plat Surface Pro 11, I love it.
How’s the emulation for it? Does it run the apps you need well enough?
@@christianr.5868 I haven’t experienced any issues so far.
Something MS still haven't fixed - I have had troubles with the keyboard & touchpad not working since the days of the Surface RT. They really need to fix that
I'm kinda in the process of switching completely away from Windows, but I'm curious about these. Just not interested in the being a first gen guinea pig. Windows on ARM has been a journey for Microsoft: Surface RT, Surface X, Surface 9 and now Surface Copilot + PC. Lets see what the successor looks like and I am more likely to get one when Windows 12 is launched next year. Right now, apart for Recall and AI hype, there isn't anything I can't do on a x86 Windows device today.
Is this available in the Philippines
is this good for computer science in college
Also update system apps in MS Store 09:41
Nice review - looks like a solid replacement for those that want 1 device to replace a MBAir and iPad into a single device. Nice to see so real competition and in some cases surpassing the apple options.
That's EXACTLY why I bought a Surface. I didn't want to carry two devices with me when I travel.
"aPpLe wOn't mErGe tHe iPad and Mac cUz it'lL cAnNibAlIZiNg sAlEs"
Do you know if it can run powerbi
I feel Microsoft needs to work on the choppy UI transitions. They need to ensure those transitions are at least 60fps like on the MacOS. Agreed it will differ on cheaper Windows laptops, but I expect smooth transitions at least on Surface devices.
Hi Aaron,
I watched many reviews of Surface Pro Snapdragon Elite on RUclips. This is one of the best review. I was actually waiting for you to do the unboxing and first impression of this machine. You always amaze me. I love the consistency of the all the reviews you do here on your channel.
Thank you and glad you like it.
What elite cpu version comes with this?
Edit: Got it, it's X1E-80-100
I watch a lot of movies which one would be better to get ?
cool
$450 for a damn keyboard? Microsoft has lost it's mind.
I know right !! But they are all doing the same Apple want $442 for their keyboard, Samsung is a bit cheaper depending on which ones.. but not usable detachable. I'm kind of temped but keyboard is a bit of a put off but you can used older ones 8 / 9 or X - Signature ones.
I really don’t like throwing Microsoft a bone tooon this. It looks like they have a cheaper version if I am looking correctly. I would most likely just get that tho.
You’re acting like apple doesnt do the same
Turns your tablet into a laptop, and there are plenty of cheap wireless keyboards that will work just fine
@@Tsarb0mba You’re acting like 450 is too much, no it isn’t if you own a 2100 dollars computer…
How responsive is the pen comparing to the apple pencil? I mean is it any good in terms of note taking? I'm not talking about 3d graphics or art making and stuff. I just wanna know how it feels to take notes.
The pen is pretty great. Very responsive
Apple pencil is not good at all.
It is as big as a rule and the tip is as hard as a rock.
The Surface Slim Pen has exactly the same incredible quality and the same experience as the Apple Pencil. I use both, and they are fantastic!
Always a fan of Microsoft Surface tablets. Love their form factor, but Windows OS can be quite frustrating. Regardless, Surface Pro 11 is ❤
Please make one of Studio Laptop(New)
that iPad form factor looks so goofy next to the Surface Pro. IMO the kickstand is the single greatest advantage over iPad. Can't believe they haven't "invented" that yet.
You're obviously unfamiliar with iPads since Apple does make kickstand keyboards. The iPad 10'th generation has a keyboard case with kickstand. It takes up a LOT more desk space and cannot be used on the lap. It's only the Air and Pros that have a Magic Keyboard with the floating screen. Those take up far less space and can be used on the lap unlike kickstands. The kickstand does provide more angles, so really it all depends on how you want to use it.
Pls Test the Games: Left 4 Dead 2; Stronghold Definitiv Edition; Knights of Honor 2
I am salivating over that blue color…
You are playing a dangerous game!
Do not succumb to this! Resist!
@@LangleyNAgive the device a few years to get cheaper
1:37 Please double check, I don't think the device supports Thunderbolt standards.
USB four by default, supports thunderbolt, but it does support it as well in the spec sheets along with the dock
$500 for the keyboard?! That's beyond crazy and still with those HUGE bezels, no thank you!
They are selliung three different keyboards, and the most expensive price also includes the Surface Slim Pen, so it's like buying the iPad keyboard + Apple Pencil. It can also be bought without and you can buy the cheaper keyboard versions as well. Freedom of choice!
Windows 24H2 is out only on co pilot + laptops for now
I was able to snag the 24H2 Developer update on my desktop before they paused the distribution. It's pretty stable.
Are you excited for linux support?
Assuming Microsoft gets all the bugs out and squares away device drivers and somehow puts together a graphics solution, they might be on to something. Obviously the Surface Pro is much more practical than the iPad.
I got Surface Pro, but I am returin, keyboard is crazy expensive 400 dlls, still prefer my Ipad and Mac combo.
@@mmanzur You don't have to buy the most expensive keyboard, there are three different compatible keyboards. If you need the Slim pen, it's not a bad idea to buy the mid tier keyboard.
I can say from early testing that I really like it. It's not a gaming machine of course, but it did run Witcher 3 with 40-70 fps with low graphics. The Prism emulation seems to be quite decent.
Isn’t that what the surface studio is supposed to be similar to? I think it has solid graphics specs too.
@@rowaystarcohow many hours does the battery last?
The screen look similar to Samsung , too vibrant for me it is nice only I prefer more natural for photos and video, btw watching this video from iPad M1 pro on iPad Os 18 there still bugs, one of it exit from full screen, gesture did not work
Old's surface pen can work in this device?
Yes
Can you try to flash a device like a Car ECU or Serial 232 devices?
Does it come with a 56k fax modem?
Hi, @AzumiRM.
I do not believe any products feature these modulator demodulators any longer.
This technology is no longer of typical day-to-day relevance.
You want to refer to a couple decades ago.
I don't see any 3.5 floppy drive either. I'm sure you can add an external one, but not having one built in is a bummer. Pass
Wow, that keyboard price! Makes Apple’s Magic Keyboard seem like a good deal!
Not really, Bluetooth Microsoft KB/Pen combo is $450. 13" iPad Pro KB/Pen combo is $430 (no BT). The non-BT MS KB/Pen combo, which is a closer comparison to the Majic KB/Pen combo is $279. MS also has frequent sales on accessories and bundles.
400 bucks for a fking keyboard, more expensive than the top tier mechanical keyboard, you gotta be joking.
It's a bundle with the Slim Pen as well, but it is expensive. But Microsoft also have two cheaper keyboard models that are compatible. And you can buy a mechanical keyboard if you prefer that..
Can you do a comparison between iPad Pro 13 and surface pro 11 thanks
Why would you even compare them? Compared a prison to a real machine?
@@coshvjicujmlqef6047 compare screen which oled is better and Performance benchmarks
Performance is pointless when you cannot even run executables. That is not even a computer in my opinion.
Walled Garden is objectively evil.
"Please do a comparison between a wannabe laptop and a real laptop"
Cities Skylines 😃
Next time try using an Android emulator like bluestacks for games to see how it performs
20:56 Wow it’s so dark
12:17 Is that why reviews so far only show benchmarks and numbers and stay away from the actual experience of using Windows on these devices?
Windows is windows. I’m not sure what you mean but the experience is great typically because it’s created by Microsoft for the device.
@@zollotech Looks like it was just downloading updates in the background and the animation when entering task view was choppy (which is normal for Windows). I was hoping that a powerful hardware could change that. Additionally, I haven't seen reviews showing the speed and experience of opening multiple apps, switching desktops, entering task view with multiple windows, dragging WinUI windows over other windows, that is why I mentioned that reviews show the numbers (benchmarks) and not the actual experience of using the OS, is it any better?.
Forget the co-pilot key, I'd rather have a fingerprint reader back.
Still the ratio to screen aspect isnt improving.
I just noticed he keeps his pencil in backwards. Or maybe mine is backwards ;) I'm lefthanded, so the tip faces --> this way -->
jesus christ -- the keyboard is stupidly expensive. i just checked .. black model costs € 474, the blue one from this video € 530. you can get an actual laptop for these prices.
I mean at 450 with pen that's like 320 which is still cheaper than ipad keyboard
You are talking about Apple's keyboard, correct...
@@RK-um9tu no, i'm talking about the one in this video.
You can purchase a cheap sub $50 Bluetooth keyboard/mouse
Watching on an S9 Ultra
So the trackpad and keyboard are non-functional right out of the box until you do a Windows Update? Very on-brand for Microsoft.
The most important display spec i don't have think was mentioned. What is the true display nits
Imagine buying a new Surface Pro 11 and the trackpad won't work. No thanks Microsoft.
It's likely due to the anti cheat that you're having issues with The Finals and CoD. There's not much MS can do about that. Honestly, you should know that as a reviewer. Once that is fixed, multiplayer shooters should work fine.
Finally i can ditch my 2018 macbook and iPad Pro altogether 😂
Will you test a game called Infinite Lagrange please? It's a deal breaker for me if it doesn't run.
Thanks for the video. Was thinking about trying the surface pro 11 but always been confused which surface was supposed to be a tablet. While watching this video all I could think was wow that’s much slower than my iPad and the keyboard not working sealed it for me. I am going to stick with my iPad.
Did you even watch the video? Things were being set up for him in the background. They keyboard not working was because of an update.
I'm switching from the iPad to the Surface. The iPad is a pretty solid device in its own right. So it's important to just use whatever works best for you.
My home office PC is a Windows machine, so I've decided when I travel, I just want to have Windows on the laptop I use for travel. But I also need it to doodle on. So the Surface means I don't have to carry an iPad + a laptop.
An iPad with Windows on it would probably be my dream machine, but that'll never happen, lol!
3:52 it looks like a laptop here
I can appreciate how sleek the Surface Pro looks but for the life of me, I can’t understand the price and its use case. Who the heck ever needs a laptop AND a tablet in a single package without getting the best of any world. Just seems to inflate the price if anything
My oldest child is really into art and several years ago they wanted something like a Wacom tablet. When COVID 19 hit, and schools moved to remote learning, we needed another device, so I bought a Surface Pro 7. They used it like a laptop for all the schoolwork, Zoom meetings with teachers, etc., and then used it as a tablet, with Sketchable and Photoshop, afterwards. It worked out great, and I actually wouldn't mind getting this new one, since the 7 came out in 2019, but I can't justify it at the moment.
"You can push that back all the way, It's plenny strong..."
*S N A P*
"FUCK!"
8:58 UUUUGH!
Um What?
Better than iPad. Only thing is too much online only features but it’s quite impressive design and hardware… atleast microsoft giving us full blown windows for the tablet . iPad Pro u can’t do more than sketching, browsing and watching movies 😂
Do you even have an iPad to make that claim? The problem with these comparisons is that the Surface Pro is a laptop and gives an afterthought to being a tablet because its keyboard detaches. Otherwise, it's not any different than a Surface Laptop. It's not a tablet no matter how much MS portrays it as a hybrid. Having owned Surface Pros, Windows makes for a horrendous tablet experience. If you want a good tablet, you buy an iPad. If you want a laptop that doubles as the worst tablet ever made, go Surface Pro. If you don't want to subject yourself to an awful tablet, go Surface Laptop. It was a total waste of $1300 for me.
@@techinrl9869 I have an iPad Air m1. MacBook Air 2017. And iPhone .. still believing in tablet section iPad is damn poor choice except sketching … Apple only claiming iPad next computer but it never do any computer stuff other than sketching and browsing..

Wrong. It is nothing like Apple which is why it is a good product...

Thanks for talking about PWM, no one talks about it and it is a big issue
that keyboard is more expensive than my brand new msi modern 14 with a core i5 12th gen intel chip, crazy overpriced for what is essentially a piece of fabric with the alphabet slapped onto it.
Good thing you MS has 2 cheaper keyboards you can get instead.
the surface 11 with oled screen is very expensive i think in europe, the ipad pro with oled is cheaper and i only use it for streaming, surfing the web, mails, office and drawing. gaming not yet but may come. too bad you didn't show a movie from netflix ?
Surface Pro 11 13 inch is 20999 NOK incl VAT in my country, for 16GB RAM and 512GB storage. The iPad Pro 13 is 21790 NOK incl VAT for 512GB storage. So iPad Pro is actually more expensive.
But for your work flow I wouldn't really spend that much money, just buy an iPad Air..

macOS is obviously more private than Windows after all…Windows is just a pack of spyware! Can't see myself using that recall thing or get ads on the system itself. Linux is my go-to operating system. 😊
Don't compare it to iPad, iPad OS is not actually fully functioning operating system like Windows. You can do more on windows. I would interested installing linux as dual boot for software development, is it possible?
Yes, I sold an older Surface Pro for an iPad Pro and ended up hating the iPad for actual work tasks. Even with the keyboard mouse combo. iPadOS is not great for work. Apple is holding the iPad back to force people to buy a Mac as well.
Software, hardware, couldn’t care less. $495 and the keyboard doesn’t work out of the box. How-how do their products (soft & hard) make it this far with this level of “polish”? Did we just chuck beta out the window? Woof.
this PCs have many people going crazy these are full computers, no glorified mobile software with a wasted super powerful chipset 🙄
Yeah you're right. The M4 chip, hell the M1 chip, is too powerful for iPad OS.
ahahaha why does it take 15 business days for the OOBE thing to end, wow how long it takes to set up windows nowadays...
The problem isn't the hardware, the problem is Windows 11. You can't run the AI offline because Microsoft doesn't want you to generate "dirty pictures" or ask about "touchy subjects", so it sends the AI requests to Microsoft to see what you're asking. "Locally" here means..."with Microsoft's online permission". So there's no offline mode, and your privacy is constantly violated. Google/Apple/Microsoft will always want to gather your data and check every AI request, they are awful companies to be in charge of AI.
You know there's plenty of software that utilizes npu for ai right?
Also, based on what are you saying this?? You have any proof that it requires any "online permission" from Microsoft?
That's incorrect. Nothing prevents you from installing any genAI model on these Copilot+ PCs and using it locally. Don't assert what you don't know. You're probably an Apple sheep, right?
Yet better than iPad OS.
@jamesdax Better in every possible way, indeed.
Create your own

After i was robbed myMIcrosoft from screen flickering of SF4 i say no to all device and the whole future product whatever it is.
I’m thinking this is a iPad but it a windows computer
Is this a computer or a tablet
iPad is a big iPhone, SP is a computer.
And it’s a tablet running windows 12
LOL. Fitst time setup and the keyboard stops working. Did Microsoft even test these devices? Why us consumers have to accept this kind of experience for such a premium device?
Hmmm i wonder why some x86 anti cheat games won't run on an arm chip
This is more a laptop than a tablet
Yes, it's what the iPad Pro is trying to be. For people that mostly want to consume media, I say buy an iPad/iPad Air. But if you want to do more work stuff, I really prefer the Surface pro over the iPad pro.
Since swapping from Microsoft and Window to all things Apple 4 years ago, you couldn’t pay me enough to swap back. I work with people online and the only ones who experience issues with crashing PCs, microphones not working, audio issues software freezing, can’t install software etc are window users. No thanks.
Troll Alert! Troll Alert!
No ones switchs from a computer to a big iPhone.
No one switchs from 21st century laptops with touch screens, and pen support, OLED screens, 20in-1 designs, etc.
To laptops that are no different than their grandpadrents laptops from the 20th century...
