Me after installing new calipers few weeks ago; "woah, I didn't know they could do that!" Thank's for the tip buddy, I'll be sure to "properly" adjust my handbrake now!
Very awesome! Just recently purchased an nb1, and the hand brake wasn't getting tight till about 9 clicks. This was a great video so easy to follow. Thanks!
peep the suzuki cappuccino outside the garage. great short to the point video! about to replace brake pads and rotors on all 4 corners and figured nows the time to fix my wimpy hand brake!
Haha my buddy was keeping it there while he was moving, his apartment wouldn’t let him keep more than one car. Thanks for the feedback! Good luck doing the work!
Thank you! Trying to change and burp my coolant with the car in neutral on a slight slope I had to use bricks to keep the car from rolling! Now my parking brake works great!
Great vid love that you’re helping others out! I was able to bang this out in less than 30mins! Works better if you have someone to check the wheel when you’re adjusting the rod/cable to have the perfect placement!
@@DriveMX5 I haven't fixed it yet, because I'm using a cheap friend/Mobile mechanic, both he and I had no idea why the parking brake had no attention after we reinstalled. This is definitely it. Thanks
Thanks man! I would check the window switch too. Sometimes the contacts can get corroded and cause one of both windows to not function well, or at all.
@@DriveMX5 it looks brand new I got it online so who knows I'm probably just gonna take it to an electrician buddy I know to figure it out I'm tired of messing with it gonna end up making it worse lmao. Appreciate your content brotha.
Ok brother, that was good. Next question is about under the car where cables attach at handbrake. To get equal pull on wheels the cables need to be balanced. When that bracket pulls more on one side then other how do you adjust that? Something is wrong with my cables, is there a right and left cable or are they the same length?
Great question! There might be something wrong with your cables if the left and right are still pulling unevenly. Perhaps one of them is stretched or getting caught on something? I am not entirely sure as I have not had that issue before. I wish I had more information for you!
So, after I did what you said (but did not tighten up the hex screws like you said - I think I did it lighter) the rear wheels are warm to hot (Ican hold a hand to them comfortably). Is that normal, or should I back off the screws (front wheels are cold as cucumber)??
@@DriveMX5 I mean, the rear wheels are warm/hot to touch, while the front ones are cold, indicating the car is braking with rear brakes, meaning the rear brake calipers are set too tight.
@@bessarion1771 It’s possible. Did you try turning the wheels by hand with the car off the ground and hand brake off? That’s a good way of telling if the brakes are dragging or not.
@@DriveMX5 I did. I had it set so that I could turn each wheel with 2 hands. Then I rewatched and realised that was too tight, so I back them off about 1/2 turn so I could turn them with one hand. I'll check on the temp later.
@@bessarion1771 should be okay then. May sound weird, but try touching the brakes themselves, not just the wheels. It’s possible the rear wheels/tires could have warmed up more than the front for other reasons. If the wheels can spin freely with the handbrake off, then there should be nothing to worry about
I have a video for lifting an ND and the process is very similar for other generations. Depending on how low your car is, the best method might be to get one side raised and on jack stands (place the jack in the center of the pinch weld) and then jack the other side up. I would not recommend doing any work under the car with any part of it solely supported by a floor jack
Thanks for sharing this info. Can't remember why I decided to go with a torx bit. Should be fine as we aren't really applying much torque to that bolt, but always a good idea to use the best/proper tools!
Where the mechanic failed, I was successful thanks to you!
Awesome, glad it worked out! Thank you for watching!
Very simple and better than other people at explaining it. Make more vids on brakes lol

Can you do a video on how to lift a vehicle using two stands and a jack?

also what direction to tighten or untight clockwise or potatoes?
Righty tighty lefty loosey
The correct tool to adjust the caliper would be a 4mm hex key - not torx.
Thanks for sharing this info. Can't remember why I decided to go with a torx bit. Should be fine as we aren't really applying much torque to that bolt, but always a good idea to use the best/proper tools!
@@DriveMX5agree. 4 mm Hex not Torx, for me.
The handbrake mechanism is the car on my 91 is different.. brake calipers seems the same
That's interesting, the earliest Miata I owned was 96 and it had this same handbrake. I wonder if the NA6's had a different mechanism
Should the car be in neutral when you are tightening the hex bolt?
For the bolt at the ebrake handle? Not necessarily, since the wheels won't be spinning anyway it shouldn't matter
Are the process the same for adjusting the passenger rear?
Yes, same thing both sides
@@DriveMX5 thank you! My rear driver side are tight when I have the e brake up, but my passenger rear still spins. It'll be my next thing to fix.
How do you know that both wheels are adjusted equally?
If you hand tighten the calipers until the wheels won’t turn, then back off the same amount on each side, then they should be adjusted equally.
What size is the torx?
T25
Why doe you call it E brake?
Emergency brake. It’s a common term for it in the US
@@DriveMX5 We (Belgium) always call it the handbrake :-)
Great vid, many thanks
Thx bro.
