I would also recommend taking a look at the caliper, there’s a spring on the e brake assembly. That could be seizing up and causing the issue. Hope this helps!

Yah I had seen that when I was watching some video. I’ll definitely take a closer look at it.

I guess you got this sorted a year ago? lol but for anyone that has this problem.. I just did the handbrake adjustment on mine, I had a nasty rattle on the right rear.. it was the brake pad!! Release the handbrake fully, tighten the 4mm Allen screws on back of the calipers fully on each side, then release a quarter turn. Then tighten the main handbrake screw till you have 7 clicks and your done.

When you turned the screw that was pulling on the cable so even with the e brake all the way down the cable still pulling on the brake causing resistance on the wheels. I’d recommend loosing that screw again. Your problem is probably a stretched cable over time the cable can become stretched and loos so when you pull the e brake up the cable not pulling enough. You’ll need to run a new cable I know on drum brakes there’s adjustments you have to do at the wheels but you don’t have drum brakes. New cable your best bet.

i think it could be the rear E-break adjustment screw located on the back the the break caliper.. I cant remember which side it was on but i do remember using a L Wrench but i also don’t remember what size i used as well. There are YT videos about it if you search up E break adjust for a 90’ miata. I hope i could help a bit!

Yah I saw that. That’s actually why I took the wheel off. Everything I was seeing was telling me to tighten it all the way. But I’m going to look into it again. Thanks for the tip!!

Yah I’m gonna have to get under it and look at the other parts of the brake and then if that doesn’t work Im gonna do a brake job and get some powerful brakes and fix the issue at the same time.
