    I can tell she’s really good at controlling the brush and color placement. Mostly because she’s wearing white around all that color

    I used to be an art student in college 40 years ago. I’ve wanted to paint with watercolor since then
    I do use acrylic once in a blue moon but you are so motivating and just all around great and very good at teaching as well as a fabulous artist I watched a ton of videos and you were my fave and then I later learned your story!
    Thank you for the beginners ebook
    I went to your watercolor supply list that got emailed and got the paints 2 6 and 16 Princeton Heritage brushes and the cute palette and paper
    I have a light box. Sooo excited! I practiced on this video with Sakura Koi mini travel set and some sable watercolor brushes that weren’t that expensive and are surprisingly “snappy” made beautiful leaves tonight! THANK YOU!

    WOW!
    I am new to watercolour paint, and new to colour in general. Typically, I use pencils only. Some recent experiments with Urban Sketching forced me to play with watercolour paint. Now I can’t put the stuff down.
    Wandering around RUclips, one can find tons of helpful videos. Your series however, blew me away! Maybe it’s the way you explain things or just the way you show your work, it just works!
    Thanks for sharing… did I say WOW!?!?

    Primary colors are not blue, red, yellow, but cyan (~ turquoise), magenta (~ pink), and (lemon) yellow. Complementary colors are cyan/orange, magenta/green, blue/yellow. It's important to keep that in mind to avoid muddiness in mixing or on the contrary to get black tones easily.
    Love your videos and books. The complete beginner guide is really amazing! Keep up the great work :)

    • @watercolourartincapetown2919
      @watercolourartincapetown2919 2 года назад +1

      The Primary colours debate is ongoing, what you've mentioned is the cool primary colours (cyan, magenta, yellow). RGB is the warm colour wheel.
      Jenna has a colour wheel video where she breaks down her thought process, but I guess it just boils down to personal preference, especially if you, as an artist, prefer a cool primary palette.
      Good luck :)

    • @ytreza9894
      @ytreza9894 2 года назад +1

      @@watercolourartincapetown2919 The thing is, you can obtain RGB from CMY, but not the other way around. That's why the "cool wheel" is the true one on a fundamental perspective. Then the "debate" (it's more a matter of choice) is what to use in practice, depending on what we want to paint. Point is, to obtain nice and clean colors, it's better for beginners to mix CMY and not RGB. For instance, a violet will be very muddy with R+B.

    Thank-you! I'm experimenting with various techniques and you have been the most informative channel I've found so far. I have a question though, and I can''t seem to find it addressed. In this video, you went straight from phthalo turquiose to opera rose, with only a quick brush rinse, yet I couldn't see any cross contmination. How do you clean out the previous colour before loading up the next? I feel like I'm constantly getting mixtures, and getting paint mixed into the sources. Is there a quick answer, or is it just practice?

    I would say start with the student range of a good quality brand. There's nothing more frustrating than wrestling with your pans to get a little bit of colour, or finding hairs as you paint, or paper that is so bad that anything makes a hole in it. Usually the student or beginner line is good enough to try the brand, but less expensive sometimes by quite the difference.

    No, that is not my beginner starter pack. My starter pack and my forever pack will be cruelty free. Paper, fabriano aristico with no animal sizing. Black Velvet brushes with no animal hair. Fur farms are about to be outlawed in Europe anyway, so get used to synthetic. Daniel Smith paints, less four colors with animal ingredients. You can't paint beauty with ugliness.
