Hi Jenna, I am 81 and a beginner. I am all alone now, so have time for a hobby. I really enjoy your tutorials! They are so helpful and I am learning so much from them. Looking forward to your new book in 2023.Thanks so much. Karen
Hi Karen! I’m an empty nester and alone now too. I’m excited to learn and admire you learning something new at 81!! You go girl friend! We got this!!! 🥰
@@christinemcclester2695 Hey ladies, I am not quite an empty nester (he's 18, but I don't see him spreading his wings for a while, lol) but I do get to spend a lot of time working on my watercolors! Jenna is such a good teacher and an amazing artist. We will all learn together! 💖 💖 for you both.
you are a rock star! my grandmother took up painting a few years ago and BOY she was very much not artistic. it was hard for the family, because we wanted to be honest, but also not break her heart, but for a while they were... just really not pleasant to look at. BUT!! she kept at it, and has been painting consistently for a while and nowadays, her paintings are incredible. you would think she has been painting her entire life! she is super inspiring to me, and I just wanted to share because it is true that it's "never too late". I am taking it up now in my 30's, and it's very difficult (currently still struggling with water to paint ratios). please keep going, and if you ever get down, come back to this video for the basics and some inspiring words! ❤
@@johncspine2787 Chickens are amazing. Their personalities begin to bloom at just a week old. It’s fascinating. Mine are pets, so I was broken hearted when a black bear got one.
Your tutorials are fantastic. I’m accessing them in the north west of England. I’m a complete beginner and as a disabled seventy year old I’m finding your instruction just great. No waffling. Thanks.
Never took any classes and don’t have any training. Just saw something I liked and bought some cheap watercolors and started painting. Need to learn so thank you!!
Same here. But I invested in artist grade watercolors, brushes, and 100% cotton paper. It does the magic and improves my skills A LOT because of the quality rather than using the cheap ones (which I used to have too).
Omgosh Jenna!! I'm about 6 months into watercolor and have pitched soooooo many attempts at water and waves into the woodstove in a blinding rage!! Why has no one shown how to do waves like you have!!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!! You have a new fan and subscriber from just up the coast on Vancouver Island Canada 🇨🇦! Cheers darlin and a very happy new year to you!
Hi Jenna, I ordered your book Everyday Watercolor: Learn to Paint Watercolor in 30 Days today and I'm really looking forward to doing the exercises and painting techniques from it. I am so excited! Thank you for helping me get over my fear of watercolour painting. I have everything except confidence, which I hope your 30 day course in the book will help me to gain. Thanks again for all you do. God bless you and your family.
hello . a quick question . as a raw beginner , could you please say" Starting with a wet surface "or starting with a Dry Surface . It was not really clear as I tried to follow this lesson even after I played it many times . Half way through trying to plaint along with you was too late .
Our handwriting changes every few years, and I wonder if the same thing happens with our painting style . I can definitely notice that your painting “handwriting” has shifted since you started changing up your supplies. Your strokes are more like twigs as you poke at the paper. It looks like you’re re-discovering your love for painting!
@@kathleenlouise783 I broke my wrist and the repair hardware popped finger tendons. Have had a repair but handwriting and painting are needing to be retrained
Just found you. Water colour was never on my radar. I ink sketch but started adding hits of colour with water colour paints. Then, I found this tutorial and, well, simply amazing and inspiring! I will probably do more of your youtube videos as I am a newbie to the art world. Thank you for making these tutorials. Inspired!
I’ve just found your site….quite by accident. I love it. I used to do water/land scapes wet on wet, but haven’t picked up a brush in a loooong time. Your video has wanting to bring out my art stuff and try the geometric abstract style, which I’ve always been afraid to attempt. The bubbles will be a good starting point Thank you so much
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I love watercolor so much and used to paint a lot before. I felt stuck because I missed some basics, and now I have a foundation for what to practice exactly.
Great insight and information. Fun seeing how fast you made the different paintings. I guess PLAY is important when you get into watercolor. It's all a brilliant learning adventure. Such great teaching and insight. Thank you for making us all better at becoming watercolor artists. Your sharing is so appreciated.✨🧡✨
Great video -- can't wait to try these. BTW, I think lots of people who like flowers love that green-gold you used for the stems. It's a very realistic color, too.
Jenna, I sure did enjoy this tutorial. I miracles with the pot turned out so nicely! And my bubbles weren’t too bad themselves. I mainly enjoyed the very simplistic water in the mountain in the sky in magenta painting. Thank you so much for your time and your generosity.💞🙏🏼💜
I would say a "simple" sky blend from blue to yellow to a reddish, let dry...then a dark for some mountains is a "easy" first painting. Teach you how wet into wet blending works, etc. Then try others like flowers, more detailed land scapes...etc
Love this video! It's perfect to recape if you've had time away from painting with watercolor. I tried other mediums out but im back to watercolor as it feels magical to me. Thank you Jenna for your amazing videos. Your very inspiring and talented.⭐️ Oh and i love how you explain the paint and water consistency. 🥰❤️
The tea to butter video made something click for me, and started me into painting after years of no 2d art. It has become part of my (near) daily practice...like scales for painting. But the last few days, when I say it in my head...I keep going "tea, coffee,milk,cream,sugar..." LOL. We do not even eat sugar. NOT sure why my brain is doing this... maybe it wants cookies???
I just found your videos. Just what I needed for a kickstart to watercolors from acrylics. Can you tell me where to find the first video on YT in this series so I can further my watercolor practice. Thanks.
Best description of why abstract works; or doesn't! It looks like you shopped a bit in France. Or are you just bringing out supplies that seem different than your norm? Great video.❤🎨
Your content is really great thanks Jenna. But I think I have some sound issues on my end as the music is louder than your voice. Had to struggle to hear you. I also just purchased your watercolor book and really enjoying learning from it.
I have no idea, and can find no instruction, how do you get one color to 'bleed' over into another? like 12:20, for example. The dark color moves over into the lighter color. I can't seem to figure out how to do that.
If the first color is still wet when the second color touches is, then there will be the blooming that you are looking for. It will stay inside the first color if the paper *around* the first color is dry.
Hi Jenna, I was on another site and someone mentioned your site to find a tutorial on watercolour pours. I’ve looked through your videos and can’t seems to find one. I’m specifically looking for one that shows how you make the pour part. TIA.
