Cool bug facts: Some spiders, like the jumping spider, have excellent vision and can see more colors than humans, including ultraviolet light. While their two primary, front-facing eyes offer high-resolution color vision, side eyes give black-and-white vision that extends even to the area behind them!
get it because webster has web in it and spider web and sp[ieer..,

My favorite Faye album so far. I’ve always loved her vibe, including that of her more traditional country stuff, but her experimental country fusion stuff is just so good. I was very pleasantly surprised with how well Underdressed’s orchestral backdrop fit with how she is as an artist. Like Alex said, it very much felt like a logical step for her.
I definitely do understand how it may have been a bit off-putting to people who aren’t diehard Faye Webster fans, or those who haven’t followed her growth as an artist from traditional country to more experimental hiphop. Especially if people started listening during Atlanta or Funny. Like any experimental artist, her music already isn’t going to be for everyone, but when you factor in how much she experiments with and changes her own music, switching genres, changing her voice, it’s easy to imagine how Underdressed might come off a bit startling.
I would imagine that this album will see the spotlight, but not immediately. There is 100% a massive audience for this sound, but it’ll take some time for them to find her.

agreed with you on that last part, I think she found a very accessible sound here. This was my first time listening to Faye and I find this sound engaging even without hearing her backlog. I'll have to give that a listen sometime

new listener here, i think you guys would really get a kick out of the new yard act album - where's my utopia? it's all about being promised a world as a child that you never got as an adult and processing that transition

This album was pretty nice. I agree with Astrid about how she doesnt really like it due to the repetitiveness and overall kind of annoying vibe it gives off on some songs, but like they said Faye has really good lyrics and instrumentals. Her voice is literally so magestical dude 🙏🏽🙏🏽. But yeah, that was my opinion and it was cool to see Alex and Astrid disagree for once as we really get to compare and contrast different views on the album :3

Listened to this based on this podcast. Totally see where Astrid is coming from with the monotony, but I do appreciate a lot of Faye's delivery and demeanor. She reminds me a lot of a far more mellow and less raunchy Liz Phair. I could easily see a grungier version of "He Loves Me Yeah!" slotting in on Whip-Smart.
I would also recommend Liz for an album review as well. Would love to hear your take on Whip-Smart, as Exile In Guyville has been talked about to death.

I don't think it's impatience at all, I think as was said said it's just preference. There's a whole rabbit hole in psychology when it comes to the ways we handle repetition/rhythm. Like, for some people experiencing a repetitive melody or looking at a pattern is very pleasing, therapeutically so sometimes, as Alex talked about for Lifetime. I feel similarly, although I also couldn't just listen to these songs without needing something else to do. I found that unfocused listen very pleasant though.
    Some notes:
But Not Kiss I love how she structured and executed the verses although something about that chorus just isn't grabbing me idk I don't hate it just its feels like something's missing to make it contrast the verses more. The strings on the verses are heavenly
    ----
Lego Ring sounds to me like another way to say Plastic Love, with a plastic ring to match a synthetic relationship. I'd like to think she's talking about someone who is suppressing their true feelings with regards to love by settling with what's expected from them, out of fear of learning what they want from a romantic partner.
    ----
The title track is great ♥I love how she sung the chorus. And how that droning guitar contrasted her voice throughout, just beautiful. Percussion sounds great on many of these tracks and its the same for this. I'm not surprised to hear she was recording with a live band, s/o to them.
    ----
Ttttttime feels like a bonus track, I see the title track as the actual closer and it improved my listen to look at things that way. this was the track that's repetitiveness made me start hyperfixating on the lyrics and the fact that they were WRONG on how many t's she was saying 😡So happy that Alex pointed that out.
