After a lot of looking into to it, reading books watching podcasts shoot interviews etc, I personally don’t think there’s anything to that rumour. The reason Vince was so upset by Randy is Vince did everything to keep him happy, he was paying him good money to be a colour commentator and offered him a great contract but Randy literally threw it back in his face because he wanted to wrestle. He the left for WCW and took Slim Jim (which at the time was a massive big deal to Vince) with him to WCW. If Randy had lived longer I think Vince would have buried to hatchet eventually. But unfortunately he went too early. But that’s just my opinion of everything I’ve read and heard.
They were starting to patch things up shortly before Randy's death. He did a promo for his then new action figure and a video game. Many of those supposedly burned bridges had been repaired by HHH (Samartino, Warrior) before, so if there was any truth to the rumor I could not see him trying to repair relations.
Yeah, 4 WCW title wins and a feud of the year award. The WWF may very well have just used him for putting over others and nothing else, like Austin, The Rock, Triple H...
They tried to get Randy back but he always said no. They even tried to get him in the HOF when he was alive, but Savage stipulated that his brother Lenny would have to be inducted.
I think Vince was very wrong to cast the old guys aside. They were the business. Why did he think Savage could not wrestle anymore? These old guys were the best era of WWF. He really did not have the pieces to continue without them and really did hand the Wrestling world over to WCW for a few years.
I agree that Vince should have allowed Savage to continue to wrestle, but he also can’t just focus on those stars; he needed to build stars for the future as well.
@@ThunderForce2000Savage wanted to feud with Bret and HBK and put them over. He was the last of the old guard to believable legitimize them as the new top stars and pass the torch. Instead they had to struggle to put themselves over and the company nearly crashed and burned without any big names.

I don't know why so many people want to believe the Stephanie rumor instead of just looking at the facts. Vince was a control freak who loved money. He HATED having to lose, especially lose money. Savage took the Slim Jim deal with him and Vince was furious, just as he was when he lost the residual lawsuit to Jesse Ventura.

6:16 “vince doesn’t care about what happened in the past if it makes business sense” he buried everyone in WCW coming into WWE because they almost put him out of business. Ruined the potential for one of the greatest angles of all time
if it wasn't for WCW no one would know who Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage were. They weren't very big stars prior to, the problem with WWE is they didn't know how to create stars, for example they didn't know how to make Scott Hall or Kevin Nash stars..they gave them goofy gimmicks like the Diamond Studd and Vinny Vegas. Mark Calaway, another one who couldn't draw fans interest. WCW was so innovative and a breath of fresh air, that gave birth to Stone Cold Steve Austin and Hunter Hearst Helmsley and the Wildman Marc Mero and Sable.
Re: Randy Savage sleeping with Stephanie McMahon. Why would she sleep with a guy that her absolute best friend Andre the Giant totally and utterly DESPISED AND LOATHED with a real absolute passion. Just my take on it.
Now that I think about it, the answer is pretty clear thanks to this video so, if Vince didn't want Macho in the ring thinking he was old back then, why would he bring him back to wrestle after the purchase of WCW if he was way older then? also, he probably was pissed that Randy not only took Slim Jim away from WWF and managed to get more sponsors for WCW, but that might also have pissed Vince off way more than another wrestler that jumped ship. Hence, that's why he was not interested in bringing him back since he was old and retired he didn't see value in him. Maybe he did to include in the 2K games as a legend and for the Mattel figures but he unfortunately passed away before Vince could bring him back.
I could never work out why he thought Randy was too old yet he still had Bob Backlund,Jake Roberts and Jerry lawler doing in ring stuff. They must have been the same age as mach.
Doesn't fit anything anyone has ever said about Vince to hold a grudge like that. Also doesn't track because he still put tons of legends as old or older than Randy in the ring at that time. He'd still have plenty of use for him as a mouth piece as well. The reason could just as easily be Randy himself. Randy at the time of WCW being bought out wasn't even active anymore, his appearances becoming less and less frequent and it's not unreasonable to say he might simply have wanted to settle down and wcw folding was the perfect bookend (until he decided to dust off the boots 4 years later for his brief tna stint.) Or, Vince's decision to move him to commentary still pissed Randy off and he didn't want to work for him. Randy wouldn't be the only guy who stubbornly didn't want to work for the WWE after all (Sting) Also according to JR, Randy was a handful and hard to get along with and frequently started drama backstage. He also claims they knew Randy would need to be in a top position for his egos sake, for those reasons he claims they never reached out, as they had enough on their plate at the time and no position for him they believed would make both sides happy.
The Mattel deal was done behind the back of Vince and when he found out he was fuming. Vince also personally stepped in and told THQ to tell Yuke's that they can't include Randy Savage as a legend in any of their older Smackdown games or of course Legends of Wrestlemania were he the biggest omission. And it makes no sense for Vince to be angry over Slim Jim. Slim Jim was just a very minor sponsor in the WWF, nowhere near on the level they became in WCW where they had their logo everywhere during PPVs like Halloween Havoc.
I don't know. I mean I don't doubt there wasn't head when Randy left and took the sponsorship with him. But Randy returning was such easy money I can't buy decades later THAT is what would have made Vince turn down all the money bringing him back. Not saying the Stephanie rumors are true, but just seems hard to believe it was something as simple as "he lost me money over a decade ago, so I didn't bring him back when he could have made more more money then he ever lost".
@@LordZaaylJim Ross had a personal issue with Savage because Savage didn't like Ross. It's more likely Jim Ross didn't push for him to return. Macho King should have stayed in WWF and never left. His character would’ve slowly burned for years and evolved instead of stuck in early 90s for another 2-3 years up to 1998’. He would’ve been a HOF, commentator, the face of Slim Jim at main events. He would’ve been the old skool guy that stayed and mellowed but had his moments sometimes randomly on Raw or at a main event. Imagine the Macho King still being in WWF after WCW was bought by Vince and the NWO & Hogan turned up. Guess what the main event of wrestlemania 18 would’ve been. Hogan V Mach. As I said, wrong decision to leave WWF and he would’ve given more value to the business and added even more to his legacy had he stayed and done business with Vince.
No. Randy wasn’t Stephanie’s statutory story. If that were true, Randy would’ve mysteriously disappeared like Jimmy Hoffa. Vince didn’t bring him back until right before he died because they couldn’t do business together. That’s it. They couldn’t agree on terms. He was known to be tough to do business with and Vince didn’t want someone as bullheaded as himself in the company.
Savage was a good fit in 95-97, besides the starpower, he almost always was fun to watch. I can' understand what Vince was thinking when he decided to cut the entire division of stars he had in 92. The only way i can imagine it: - Vince sleeping in his bed - the phone rings - V: "Who's that?" - "Hey Vince, it's me, Paul Heyman, i have the greatest idea ever - chop everybodys head off who's over 40 years old, the real fans don't care for them, start a new era, push your midcarders over these old hilbillies, make new characters who fans would like to see, like a toiler guy, mantaur, hockey player... ratings will go through the roof" - V: "Hey pal, i like it" And then New Generation happened
The Steroid issue happened and Vince didn't trust certain guys. Vince for most part was always looking for that next young wrestler. Bret wasn't much younger then many of guys but was so phenomenal he could be believed to be younger then he really was.

The rumours only came about in the 2000s... after randy himself started talking about taking stephanie around the block in his car or something lol.
They were starting to patch things up shortly before Randy's death. He did a promo for his then new action figure and a video game. Many of those supposedly burned bridges had been repaired by HHH (Samartino, Warrior) before, so if there was any truth to the rumor I could not see him trying to repair relations.
Savage didn't want to back after 2000. Vince couldn't afford to pay the draws money in 92 and they all left. Nothing else to it.
He had a better run in WCW then if he'd have stayed
Yeah, 4 WCW title wins and a feud of the year award. The WWF may very well have just used him for putting over others and nothing else, like Austin, The Rock, Triple H...
They tried to get Randy back but he always said no. They even tried to get him in the HOF when he was alive, but Savage stipulated that his brother Lenny would have to be inducted.
That’s true brotherly love because nothing about the Genius is Hall of Fame worthy.
And his father
Savage is my favorite wrestler ever…..and all that Slim Jim money went to WCW too
Imagine Bischoff as a judge.
Didn't see it, never happened. You're free to go with the courts apologies Mr Bundy.
Savage was SAVAGE.
Brilliant dude
I think Vince was very wrong to cast the old guys aside. They were the business. Why did he think Savage could not wrestle anymore? These old guys were the best era of WWF. He really did not have the pieces to continue without them and really did hand the Wrestling world over to WCW for a few years.
I agree that Vince should have allowed Savage to continue to wrestle, but he also can’t just focus on those stars; he needed to build stars for the future as well.
Not letting Savage put over Hart and Michaels like Randy wanted was just stupid. Ride fueds could have helped massively during the New Generation era.
@@ThunderForce2000Savage wanted to feud with Bret and HBK and put them over. He was the last of the old guard to believable legitimize them as the new top stars and pass the torch. Instead they had to struggle to put themselves over and the company nearly crashed and burned without any big names.
I remember those years when Macho Man was an announcer. That might have been the birth of my OCD. As a young kid I couldn’t take seeing that.
He came back for WWE Allstars game ... if you didn't pass away who knows
5:30 - Spoken like management.. you discount the fan's enjoyment and focus on the business aspect. The reason the sponsors cared was because the fans cared.
That whole mind your business bit at the end was perfectly said. Easy to see why Eric is successful.
damn, he woke up and decided thats how he was gonna style his hair today 😂
I don't know why so many people want to believe the Stephanie rumor instead of just looking at the facts. Vince was a control freak who loved money. He HATED having to lose, especially lose money. Savage took the Slim Jim deal with him and Vince was furious, just as he was when he lost the residual lawsuit to Jesse Ventura.
Rip macho the greatest ever Yeeeeaah
In WCW in 1996. Hogan. Hall and Nash all got rich off WCW all except of Randy Savage
Randy Poffo. Best to ever do it
According to Bill Dundee, both the Poffo brothers were a lil goofy.
Amazing watch
Rrandy Savage probably is as close as you can get to perfect as a wrestler and I don't mean Mr perfect I mean he covered all the bases he had everything true legend!

@@CraigWeir-q5v how old was stephanie at the time?
Eazy E is so much more interesting on this show compared to his podcast
Because on his podcast he's got Conrad who won't have anything bad said about anything wrestling he doesn't agree with
Randy did it 😂
So what was the rumour?
That he slept with an underage Stephanie McMahon
That Randy popped Steph's cherry when she was underage. It MAY or MAY not have happened, but it looks like Eric thought there was something to the rumor.
Eric was just having a bit of fun with it. Doesn't seem to me that he really believed it.
@@davidgraham8299 Yeah, you may be right. I've never really heard anyone in the business come right out and say they believed it. Dunno.
She was actually of age but still pretty damn young and Randy was no spring chicken...@@DoktorRotwang
I wonder if Randy Savage said to Eric Bischoff "it's because he still has lust in his eyes!!!" when Eric Bischoff told Randy Savage Hulk Hogan said they should bring Elizabeth back lol
😂
Honestly, Savage should have returned with Hogan, Hall and Nash. It should have been Austin vs Savage. That would have been an amazing match for WrestleMania 18. Definitely, way better than Austin vs Hall.
I think the ideal dream matches were Hogan vs Austin and The Rock vs Savage.
It was such a missed opportunity to not have the Mega Powers be at the Skydome. Albeit, Savage would have had likely the 2nd biggest pop of the night.@@BigBadJerryRogers
@@BigBadJerryRogersAustin wouldn't work with Hogan. Savage was a better match-up. Hogan and Rock was the better scenario for Hogan.
6:16 “vince doesn’t care about what happened in the past if it makes business sense” he buried everyone in WCW coming into WWE because they almost put him out of business. Ruined the potential for one of the greatest angles of all time
He buried anyone from WCW because he could. It didn't matter about business at that point because in his head, he 'won'.
@@matthewstewart1823 fair
It didnt cost him any money though
Randy was the best.
He was the cream of the crop.
Hogan and Sting made me watch wrestling but Savage and Flair made me love wrestling
So what's the rumor on why Vince never brought randy back ? I never heard that rumor.
if it wasn't for WCW no one would know who Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage were.
I miss the old Viking! (Savage) He was always a warrior, never a whiner.
I wonder if savage gave Luger the flying elbow smash for real when Lugie started dating Miss Elizabeth.
Re: Randy Savage sleeping with Stephanie McMahon. Why would she sleep with a guy that her absolute best friend Andre the Giant totally and utterly DESPISED AND LOATHED with a real absolute passion. Just my take on it.
Stephanie liked the baby oil on the macho weiner. Andre was a time traveler and knew Randy was getting randy with his best friend.
It sounded like they bleeped out “slim Jim!”
Randy wouldn't be the only guy who stubbornly didn't want to work for the WWE after all (Sting)
Also according to JR, Randy was a handful and hard to get along with and frequently started drama backstage.
Ross also admitted to not pushing for hiring Eric in 2001. Nobody says Savage was unprofessional backstage. Only Ross said it and it has been backed up by no one. Pritchard Bischoff Gorilla. No one can back Ross up. Jim just didn't like him because Jim was an office stooge and a kiss ass.

Hi
He definitely hit it
Macho King should have stayed in WWF and never left.
Deliberately misleading title.
Yeah, I don't believe those rumors for a second.
Savage was a good fit in 95-97, besides the starpower, he almost always was fun to watch.
I can' understand what Vince was thinking when he decided to cut the entire division of stars he had in 92.
The only way i can imagine it:
- Vince sleeping in his bed
- the phone rings
- V: "Who's that?"
- "Hey Vince, it's me, Paul Heyman, i have the greatest idea ever - chop everybodys head off who's over 40 years old, the real fans don't care for them, start a new era, push your midcarders over these old hilbillies, make new characters who fans would like to see, like a toiler guy, mantaur, hockey player... ratings will go through the roof"
- V: "Hey pal, i like it"
And then New Generation happened
@@Anthony-fk7ynno it wasn't the new gen almost put WWE out of business! U reaching wit this comment!
