The fact that this PPV cut off during the main event of arguably the most anticipated title match of the year, and yet this is still what people talk about, shows what an absolute disaster this match was
WCW was a geriatric home. Look at the young upcoming talent Bischoff had and let go: Jericho, Benoit, Eddy Guerrero, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Mick Foley, Triple H, X-PAC. People were getting tired of seeing aging stars like Hogan in most of the WCW main events.
So only real fans agree with you? Hmmm bit of a fallacy there. I’m willing to wager than the percentage of REAL wrestling fans who disagree is more than 0 percent. Is that what you say on every subject? Lay out your claim and then brand anyone who has a different take as less than you 😂😂 what a clown.
I think being a fan of wrestling and being a fan of warrior is a contradiction. Warrior couldn't wrestle out of a paper bag. He was a horrible wrestler. Bastion Booger was a better wrestler. Hell Christopher Reeves, post fall from horse was a better wrestler.
The match was awful, but the crowd was into it. Watch the first promo. Hell, watch his last one after the match. The roof was still coming off the place. For all the complaining about that opening promo it seemed to go over well enough live.
Yes but to be honest they could have played cribbage in the ring and got it over. Just the fact that Hogan and Warrior were in the same ring was bonkers.
I always wondered why the contract was so short with Warrior. Was it initially just for the few dates, or was it for a year or something and Warrior was told to go home?
It was one of the shortest contracts in WCW coming from a big a Star ⭐. Warrior said it was supposed to be longer but as soon as he lost to Hogan 😎 they didn't Call him back No more. On a Personal Level It was good 👍 for Warrior because I heard he got Paid "A LOT" for just a few Months. That's why we Know Eric is Lying 🤥 in this Story still protecting his #1 Amigo Hulk Hogan ❤
We All 🙌 Know Eric is lying out of his ears right now. & We know by now how Hogan is & Thinks. That's why the audience Boo's him in WWE' Netflix Special.Yet Again WCW drops the Ball on Another Super Star that was making the difference
Not sure if it was Jericho or Bret who mentioned it in their books, that Eric never knew what the hell he was doing, he wanted to be the cool boss who rode around on his motorcycle, but he had all the money from Ted Turner to play with, so he let others (hogan, nash & hall, flair) called the shots, which was part of the reasons why WCW died.
Dude, Flair didn't get his proper Shine in WCW when Eric came in. Bret, Warrior, Goldberg, Sting, Macho Man, DDP, Booker T, Big Show, X-Pac were easy Wrestlers to Build off of to beat WWF & Eric Missed an EASY Lay up. It was basically a Free Be but Eric was infatuated with Nash & Hall but Primarily on Hogan
To Eric’s timing point, that works in any profession where you have to keep a running tab on time without being able to look at a phone. I’ll routinely glance at the clock while teaching, and you know which marks to hit. (“Okay, start winding down now.”)
Eric Bishoff once said that Bret Hart made up the contract offer from 96 and he'd not made any offer. Except that an interview from April 1997 has Bishoff say they made Bret an offer but he turned them down. Take what Eric says with a pinch of salt
What WCW did wrong with Warrior is they let him be what he was in the 80s and it didnt fit. When he returned to WWF in '96 Vince was starting(and he would've changed even more in '97) to have him be less '80s character.
What a stupid stupid idea it was to bring warrior in. He should’ve known warrior was not worth it and would put on terrible matches. Bischoff did some cool things with wcw but this was a huge mistake.
Bischoff makes a lot of sense here about his logic behind hiring warrior, given what he’d experienced so far.. he explained his reasoning really well. Smart guy.
Warrior's debut wasn't any longer than any other NWO related promo and the crowd was going wild the whole time. The segment was 15 minutes and Warrior wasn't in the ring for the first 3 minutes. Ask Eric why the NWO gets nearly 50 minutes a week of promo time (in segments at the start of each hour), while a match like Jushin Liger vs Ultimo Dragon is six minutes in a one-off Nitro throwaway..
If Havoc was going to be his last appearence, as here Bischoff Is saying, then WHY did Warrior show up the next day at the Nitro taping? .......It was Hogan wanting his Wm6 job back, Warrior worked injured and Hogan -as Warrior stated in a shoot interview- did not want to put time in working a decent match out. He simply did not care.
I was SO excited when Warrior came back to WWF, then... GONE! No explanation, nothing. Then all of a sudden he's in WCW. Ugh. That crushed me as a massive WWF/Warrior fan at the time.

The first few minutes of the promo were fire. And you can hear the crowd going nuts. But then he kept going on and on and I admit that. Also it's laughable to deny that Hogan wanted his win back. He absolutely wanted to win.
By that point warrior was so washed its not even funny, them bringing him in should've told wwf all they needed to know on how desperate the competition was.

warrior is a main event guy, only vince mcmahon knew how to use the talent of warrior to sell tickets, bischoff did not know how to use warrior, bischoff used too much drama instead of wrestling skill and talent, bischoff created too much of a soap opera with athletes.
Hulk brought warrior back. Bishoff already said he has no idea what he was doing. Hulk brought warrior back to get his win back. Bishoff has been unemployed ever since he got hired to do a job he didnt know how to do
I love how everyone is complaining about Bischoff and mistakes he might've made 25 years ago like he's supposed to care about some random internet nobody's opinion of him, sure he might've accidentally helped steer the ship into the iceberg but his booking is also why the biggest wrestling company in the world got their asses handed to them for those 83 weeks, so cry all you want but it doesn't change facts.
2 wrestlers who were only known for their look and their gimmick and neither of who could wrestle worth a damn and it wasn't a great match you say? I am completely shocked!
Laugh at Warrior all you want - the crowd popped for that promo and he made a load of money for working about three matches. Also one of the biggest stars the business has ever produced. Bischoff was clueless and had no idea how to use top talent.
how many times to do we have to hear about this match? yes it was not good but its yearly talked about. Just shows how much these now podcasters live in the past
WCW went under because of Eric Bischoff and Vince Russo... Ridiculous storylines/creative... having the talent and not knowing what to do with it, and ending "the streak"...Had Turner put someone in charge of his company with a little bit of wrestling knowledge competitive wrestling would still exsist today...
There are times I'm impressed with Bischoff and other times where I see this unaccountable politician who wormed his way into a leadership position and got lucky with 1 big bet (Hogan turning heel). Everything else he has touched was horribly mismanaged and failed, although he has tons of excuses. I still remember the warriors debut and was so excited (I didn't know all the drama), and then he wen ton to fizzle with these long, bizarre promos and terrible matches. Can you imagine a wrestler trying to cut a 17 minute promo in Vince's company? OMG Vince personally have walked out and kicked him off stage.
I hate how the smart marks take the history of wrestling as presented to them by the victors (wwe) - in this case, the narrative from the self destruction of the warrior dvd. The first promo the warrior did in wcw was totally coherent and the fans were into it. The rest of the run in wcw sucked but that promo was good and very inkeeping with the time, not like his older ones.
What was Jim's average time in the ring for a match? 4mins maybe?? Does anyone know?? He was gassed from that run to the ring and those rope shakes.. His stamina was awful for a guy who looked amazing! Dinabol and Creatinine does wonders
Yet decades later, still one of the most memorable characters, and merchandise never stops selling. Soooo....guess he understood its a business not a Dave Meltzer fan club, lol
So without watching the video, Eric reinvents a lot of history, gets really vague if the issue of hulks creative control comes up, and takes credit for anything that worked out🤷
This is a old one, but still Eric is such a Hogan mark and not down with the interviewer playing along but I get it. Everyone knew Hogan and Eric brought Warrior back to not only try to recapture their WM6 moment, but also so Hogan can get his win back. Hogan was even the one that reached out to him, then had Eric make an offer to get him to come back. They started talking to him, according to Warrior, back in 97 before he actually agreed and appeared in 98. Everyone warned him as to way they brought him back, and sadly he didn't believe them, and found out the hard way. The promo thing was more like 15mins, and I remember watching it, and he was playing into the crowd and they were into it. They were chanting Warrior's name and "Hogan Sucks" near the end. So that was likely the real issue, that Hogan was getting booed and Warrior was getting over. They screwed him, and instead of owning it they blamed him for the issues that went on. Hell, he even said the supernatural stuff they had him do was suppose to be a one off. Keep some bits but not the trap door, disappearing and mirror thing. They even had him stay under the ring to pop up through the trap door, then go back and sit under there till the arena was empty. And they didn't even wait for him to get out, they just left him there to be met by the cleanup crew. Still they kept going, and he got hurt breaking out of the cage cuz they had him appear in it and tear out of it. But he wasn't the only one that got hurt either, Bulldog got really hurt when he was slammed on the trap door and so was Alex Wright. According to Alex, neither Eric or anyone from management warned them about the trap door being there. Which is fucked up, cuz they had two rings there and could have told them to wrestle in the other one. But Eric and them are dicks, who even fired Bulldog while he was in recovery. Hell when Sid broke his leg in the ring, they fired him while he was still recovering too. Either way, they made all these promises to Warrior that was suppose to go down after the match with Hogan. Which Hogan botch it. I mean it started off good, till the ref got knocked out and the NWO jumped in. But then it got back on track, till Hogan botched the fire ball. For a sec it looked like they were going to get back on track again, but nope, and it ended with Warrior out in the ring covered in gasoline. Warrior appeared one more time, then they had him sit at home till his contract was up. He even talked about how he tried calling them to get things moving, but Eric wouldn't return any of his calls. Warrior pretty much retired after this, only having a final retirement match in 08 against Orlando Jordan. RIP Warrior

This 1 is not. They hired Warrior 💪 so Hogan 😎 can finally get his win 🏆 over him. Let's just call 🤙 a spade a spade ♠️
Bullshit HH wanted his win back......pathetic how Bishoff still protects dude
Warrior is a legend.
He is, but I don't think he was a good fit for wcw especially in the year 1998!!
@@bdot187um Dude it was perfect 👌 Timing for him to come back. That's why the Ratings increased when he showed up. The crowd went wild. But Hogan & Eric pulled the rugg from him & gave a cheap Star Cade Finish to this Legendary Rivalry at Halloween Havock
Warrior is one of my top favorites! Always will be
The fact that this PPV cut off during the main event of arguably the most anticipated title match of the year, and yet this is still what people talk about, shows what an absolute disaster this match was
Who in the world would ever think Randy Savage, no matter what age would be a bad idea??
I recently watched 2 guys reacting to Randy Savage promos. I had to stop watching because I was crying laughing.
@@joncolunga673 Vince McMahon
many don't know but vince wanted warrior back in late 97. Imagine if we got Warrior vs Austin at Mania 14😮😂😮
Austin and Foley weren't exactly spring chickens at the time, but they were a bit younger than the Hogans in the company.

Getting rid of Warrior was the reason WCW failed and all real wrestling fans agree
@@mexmexican8619 there were a lot of bad decisions
@@deanromanado5850yes real wrestling fans apparently only applies to the cartoon era 😂
@@thesaltybrit9321 Speaking of clowns...sarcasm flies right over your head, doesn't it 😂
The worst match I've ever seen. Horrible.
Warrior still had all the pop. Hogan didn't like being outshined by the warrior again. So they got rid of him
I always wondered why the contract was so short with Warrior.
Look up warriors shoot interview about his time in WCW that’s the real truth
Hogan asked Bischoff to sign the Warrior
Bischoff: That's not true...
Me: Yup, Hogan didn't ask, he *"DEMANDED"* and Bischoff obliged 😆😆
I still stand that when I was a teenager and I saw that promo, I marked out. I still don't see why it's as BAD as people make out? I enjoyed it.
Somehow that match main evented halloween havoc
It didn't main event. They were such big names, that it seemed like they did. But DDP vs Goldberg was the main event
@@jeter274 Yes, but 90% of people didn't see that match, remember? the PPV cut off.
Hogan ruined the match
“That’s not true.” Eazy-E always so quick to have Hogan’s back.
There's a difference between awful and forgetful
What WCW did wrong with Warrior is they let him be what he was in the 80s and it didnt fit. When he returned to WWF in '96 Vince was starting(and he would've changed even more in '97) to have him be less '80s character.
What a stupid stupid idea it was to bring warrior in. He should’ve known warrior was not worth it and would put on terrible matches. Bischoff did some cool things with wcw but this was a huge mistake.
Hogan was the bad idea & helped knock down WCW
Warrior appeared twice more after Halloween Havoc. The Nitro the day after the crowd went nuts.
Bischoff makes a lot of sense here about his logic behind hiring warrior, given what he’d experienced so far.. he explained his reasoning really well. Smart guy.
"and none of it is making sense" that's pretty much the Ultimate Warrior in a nutshell.
Seems like Warrior rizzed Eazy E
If Havoc was going to be his last appearence, as here Bischoff Is saying, then WHY did Warrior show up the next day at the Nitro taping? .......It was Hogan wanting his Wm6 job back, Warrior worked injured and Hogan -as Warrior stated in a shoot interview- did not want to put time in working a decent match out. He simply did not care.
I was SO excited when Warrior came back to WWF, then... GONE! No explanation, nothing. Then all of a sudden he's in WCW. Ugh. That crushed me as a massive WWF/Warrior fan at the time.
It definitely wasn’t about Hogan getting his win back. Until it dawned on him that he can get his win back.
Aw, come on now, Eric
Funny how they keep talking about a dead man after all these years to get laughs.
At least Eric can laugh about this stuff. I could listen to him all night
Biggest botch at Halloween Havoc wasnt Hogan v Warrior but DDP not winning the belt. Perfect way to end the streak.
Bischoff protects Hogan relentlessly, almost like a possessive girlfriend.
Bro... The proof is in the pudding 🍮. Eric is Known for dropping the ball 🏀 on Incredible talent at their proper time:
Taker
Stone Cold
Mick Foley
Macho Man
Crow Sting
X- Pac

ROAD Warriors
Nature Boy (Being the Legendary WCW star turned mid card)
Bill Goldberg (with the exciting streak)
Bret Hart ( with the Famous Screw Job officially kicking off the Attitude Era)
& Warrior 💪 ( the Biggest Rival of Hogan History that put butts on seats)
This is just to Name a few. The Love ❤ this guy has for Hogan 😎 covering up both guys mistakes is incredible.
Warrior was awesome... The match was a fucking joke because Hogan and his racist arrogance wanted the win back... SIMPLE...
Anyone else think it would be fun to sit in a creative meeting?
The first few minutes of the promo were fire. And you can hear the crowd going nuts. But then he kept going on and on and I admit that. Also it's laughable to deny that Hogan wanted his win back. He absolutely wanted to win.
Go watch the Nitro AFTER that Halloween Havoc match and see how OVER Warrior still was though - huge reaction from the crowd
Warrior was such a great technical wrestler. He inspired Bret Hart to paint his face and run to the ring backward
By that point warrior was so washed its not even funny, them bringing him in should've told wwf all they needed to know on how desperate the competition was.
Yeah & Hogan was just the Fountain of youth💪that the Company decided piggy back off of. Lol😂! The hypocrisy is bias is through the roof with the Hulkster. He can't do not wrong
@@maurovillarreal2037 not really, but the new code of paint helped & the company was definitely piggybacking off of the nWo as awhole not just him, yes we all have or biases but idk man wariror looked so out of place in 1998 wcw, lastly yeah he had his fair share of bs.
warrior is a main event guy, only vince mcmahon knew how to use the talent of warrior to sell tickets, bischoff did not know how to use warrior, bischoff used too much drama instead of wrestling skill and talent, bischoff created too much of a soap opera with athletes.
Hulk brought warrior back. Bishoff already said he has no idea what he was doing. Hulk brought warrior back to get his win back. Bishoff has been unemployed ever since he got hired to do a job he didnt know how to do
I think bringing the Warrior to WCW was a good move. He was big and it brought in a ton of attention. It just didn't work out. It happens.
That match was still better than anything Cody Rhodes has ever done.
Bishop's really wants to get that imitation out for years
I love how everyone is complaining about Bischoff and mistakes he might've made 25 years ago like he's supposed to care about some random internet nobody's opinion of him, sure he might've accidentally helped steer the ship into the iceberg but his booking is also why the biggest wrestling company in the world got their asses handed to them for those 83 weeks, so cry all you want but it doesn't change facts.
2 wrestlers who were only known for their look and their gimmick and neither of who could wrestle worth a damn and it wasn't a great match you say? I am completely shocked!
No one.mentions that Warrrior tore his bicep so he couldn't wrestle.
Don't worry Eric, you're not the only one who loves Jen Louise.
7:10 "Beating dem trees, purring dat asphalt, beating dem trees, purring dat asphalt" Yea roddy could go...
you need to start telling us when this stuff was filmed or I'm out
It was 💯 to get Hogan the win. Poor management in everyway and again shows how WCW allowed the top names to run and spend
Laugh at Warrior all you want - the crowd popped for that promo and he made a load of money for working about three matches. Also one of the biggest stars the business has ever produced. Bischoff was clueless and had no idea how to use top talent.
Nobody was wrong, bischoff....wcw DID go bankrupt....smh
eric insinuating he was on something during the warrior promo lol. wcw seemed fun imagine doing rails with bisch
i loved the warrior
Hogan sometimes I don’t think realized we all knew it was fake
Jim Ross podcasts on the warrior make for great entertainment. I get the feeling jr didn't like warrior lol.
how many times to do we have to hear about this match? yes it was not good but its yearly talked about.
OOC and V1 approve of warrior’s promo
Well, this all involved Hogan, Warrior, and Bischoff, so the stuff that happened is what happens when you mix Hogan, Warrior, and Bischoff.
The Disciple was awesome.
Hartford Civic Center, I was there
What was Jim's average time in the ring for a match?
4mins maybe?? Does anyone know??
He was gassed from that run to the ring and those rope shakes.. His stamina was awful for a guy who looked amazing!
Dinabol and Creatinine does wonders
Gorilla pressing 300 pounds after a 20 minute match, clearly awful stamina indeed.....
Yet decades later, still one of the most memorable characters, and merchandise never stops selling. Soooo....guess he understood its a business not a Dave Meltzer fan club, lol
How original. Warrior is a legend and those 4 minutes drew more money than anybody on the current roster.
Did he say 3 minutes?
I was the original triple H brother
RIP Warrior
The stars of destiny give strength to the warrior of the ages who will create a new universe in the spirit of warriorism
he faild to mention alot of things why because he is best friends with hogan thats why
