Back in 2005 my best friend bought me this CD and I listened to it every day for months. He killed him self in 2012 and this is the 1st time since then I’ve listened to this song. I’m overwhelmed with emotions right now.

@ NegaArson I agree pretty much. A lot of their stuff is ALMOST amazing. Like it gets so close but doesn't quite reach the zenith it should. Make sense?
I've hit replay like 30 times, and can't stop crying. I'm currently struggling with an opioid addiction. I'm in treatment, and I'm clean, but it is so hard. I'm so grateful to music to help me through difficult times.

I have been clean for over 3 years now, and the music gets me through the rough patches ♡ It is truly a choice you make, every minute of every day! The struggle is real, but great music sure helps!!
Me and my son in the pick up truck together, jamming out to music from over a decade ago. It brought tears to my eyes with my son told me, “Dad, your music is awesome.” He likes music from the 80s, 90s, and 2000s the most. He doesn’t listen to what his friends listen to. Not bad for an eight year-old I guess.
82 bby here. Love alternative/rock. 1st time hearing...was instantly captivated. Can't believe baby boy isn't here 🥺. So glad to experience him & his gift 🙏🏾.
I instantly choked up when he yelled _"I want you to help."_ with that new imaging, ngl Like, I've loved this song ever since I was a kid - and I never really knew _why_ that was, I just knew I understood it on some deeply intimate level. That it was important to me. For those of you who have seen the original video: I felt like the fish was me. A lifetime later, the reasons finally make sense. I didn't know how bad off I was back then, how monstrously I was treated by not only family, but society - it's to such an extent that even if I was to explain it, most people likely wouldn't comprehend the severity of what I'm saying. It's even hard for me to, most of the time. Not because I'm unaware of what I've been through, but because I feel as though I'm not allowed to acknowledge it or what it's done to me. And that has a lot to do with people around me and the expectations that they have about each other. It's assumed that if I look and act okay, then I have nothing to complain about. That, because it's "hard all around", that should somehow nullify that I was hurt and that I am still hurting and that healing is hard when you've been given no space to heal. _"I will not hide you through this_ _I want you to help them, please see_ _The bleeding heart perched on my shirt"_ To me, it's about the inability to help one another. Be that the person suffering and unable to help themselves or the people watching and unwilling to see that someone needs help. _"Should I? Could I?"_ Yes, you can and yes you should. The only ways in which I have ever been able to move forward from my traumas is with a hand in my hand. It takes more than yourself to get better. It's a rare thing for someone to truly save themself by themselves and, honestly, I think you lose something very innocent in yourself when you have to - something you can't replace. It's tragic and it shouldn't have to happen. We and the world are a wasteland because we let each other waste away - no well, no water, no life. Suffocating on this barren earth because no one will check if they have a drink to spare. I suppose this song has always reminded me of how often it was that I felt alone. Truly, terribly alone in this world. In my worst days, I would look out my window and wish someone would see me, would save me, or at least help me save myself - but they never came. Not back then. I went through a lot more than I ever had to because no one wanted to look at the kid crying for help until it was almost too late. Every day, I feel a little more wasted away, even now. These days, I take a great deal of solace in the people I've chosen to see, in the people I've tried to help, along the way - and watching them make it, where I didn't, is enough sometimes to keep going until the next day. But, I still remember this. This feeling, this loneliness. This song reminds me that I still wish that more people would help - because I've cared for so many crying children, and that there are still so many more tells me that there are still not enough people choosing to help.
Your comment broke me 😢 I have Lived similar experiences as you, and it's nice to know that I wasn't the only person. It's okay to accept that you went through hell in life, it's okay to take note of how it hurt and can still hurt. That makes you human honey. If your pain does not feel justified, that will place guilt on top of the pain. Your feelings do matter and they are important to me and everyone else with an open loving heart in this world. Being so utterly alone, lonesome and lost in this world... You don't have to be alone in it. I know You don't know me, but if you ever want to talk I'm here for you.
Well said and you’re SO RIGHT, too!! A fellow US Veteran calls it, “3-Seconds of Waiting!” If we could ALL Wait 3-SECONDS EXTRA When You/I/WE Approach or Meet someone else.., then imagine what views & thoughts might open-up to us ALL..??? 3-SECONDS Of WAITING For More PEACE, LOVE and EMPATHY.😎🇺🇸

Ten years ago I was a young school boy who had a big family and had watched many of them go to using heroin and other drugs due to other lose of family members and the cycle was endless until I one day broke down at school telling a teacher how my own brother and closest family had been using, two years later I myself became a user and lost many people to the drug then I truly understood the meaning of this song. about 6 and a half years later I am now watching this video to the song for the first time and I am clean. it's strange how life takes you places you never thought you'd be.. but somehow if we end up living a life we thought we never would we are wiser for it. . stay safe people, hang in and never lose hope.
@@burtonwilliams1607 thanks brother! Will do! 😁✌ I've done enough bad in my life that it time for me to do some good for once all we have in moments like this is each other thanks for the positive energy you as well!💪💪😁
This music video is still powerful. There are people we may come across in life that may have a scar of trauma. Physically or mentally, they have managed to make it far.
Went to see 10 years live for the first time, sound unheard, while they were touring TAE many moons ago. I was instantly enamored with their sound and have carried them around in my head since then. Thanks for the tunes!
The song was actually released in 2004 on their killing all that holds you album, which they later redid in 2005 for autumn effect. 2006 is only the year it was uploaded on youtube :P
First time I sat down to watch the video than listen to the music. What a trip. Really made me think back on my life up to this point and realize it isn't THAT bad.
It's always eye opening to watch a video like this, and realize when you think you've nearly lost faith in all of humanity, that you actually still deeply care about humanity, and that some people out there have it way worse than you and their perspectives on the world are probably more positive than your own.
This will forever be my favorite song ever written from one of the most underrated bands ever. I absolutely LOVE this song for it's powerful message and equally powerful delivery. A work of art, for sure.
@katiekat1398 It is a great song, these guys are beasts on their instruments, power chords, gotta love it, Incredible sound. If I was them I'd be damn proud of this one. 🙂🙂🙂🙂
This song has been on my playlist for a long time. What a fantastic underrated band. Reading these other comments, I'm glad others appreciate their work as much as I do.
Someone else already said it but this musical period was probably the best ever for rock and roll. 61 year old man here who loves this kickass modern rock music .
I'm right here with you my brother. I don't care how old I get, I want intensity, honesty and emotion in my rock music. I can still find it, I just need to dig a little deeper these days.
This song and video show that those of us blessed with safety, security, the basic things we take for granted are truly blessed. It's a dark World with Billions suffering to eat, get clean water, not live in fear of murder rape or torture. Here in America we have it so good we complain about anything that is an inconvenience.
It's kind of akin to today's turmoil here as well. We are in the middle of another chaotic black lives matter movement, the KKK are recruiting in the streets. All while stupid people are protesting, saying wearing masks are like slavery, etc.

This song hits so much harder being almost 30 in 2023. The atrocities are the same. The atrocities evolved the same way social construct evolved. Monetary value is put far ahead of the value of human life. The cycle will only continue until human life is worth more than Monetary value across the board.
I just saw 10 Years for the first time last night (October 14, 2018). They put on a great show and played this song. Jesse Hasek (the singer) hung around after the show and I got a chance to talk to him. He was cool as shit; very friendly and down to earth, no rock star attitude at all. I told him I love this song. He was very flattered to hear that. He smiled, said thank you, and shook my hand. Great experience!
My older brother put me onto this song and I'm so happy he did. It was his ringtone for awhile. He passed away a few years back and boy do I miss him! I miss my entire family tbh...
I have depression issues. This song itself has kept me from offing myself. I've found comfort in it. Being able to feel the passion, pain, and hope in it. Beautiful song. My mom is a preacher's wife and even she likes it :P
This song makes me feel that everything is gonna be okay even if it seems if they world is against you. Your stronger than any of your enemies and your better than to act like them. The devil will always try to make you fall to your knees but God will always be there to pick you up before you fall 🙏❤.
Here in 2024, heard this song a few years ago immediately recognizing it, brought back the memories of me and my dad driving around the woods in our old Toyota, all sorts of hunting memories from when I was a kid. Safe to say this will stay on playlist till I kick the can.
Was 16 years old saw 10 years puddle of mudd and shine down on the carnival of madness tours, I couldn’t believe how great they sounded live this song has been one of my favorite sing at the top of my lungs songs in the truck ever since then 🙏
Met these guys and Evans Blue at an after party in Houston. I can't say enough how down to Earth both bands were. Just good guys having the times of their lives.
I rarely cry. I never openly express emotions. This song has brought me to tears. It's difficult for me to listen to this song. The verse "But signs were not really that scarce, obvious tears" sends me into an emotional whirlwind and the tears won't stop. I was abused and witnessed abuse for the first 18 yrs. of my life. Too many individuals knew I was being abused because they were directly abusing me or knew that other people were abusing me. No one helped me and instead ignored my abuse although they were well aware. It makes me very angry that I suffered in silence.
bless your heart. That's terrible that that happened to you. Please whatever you do, don't let it define who you are, forgive those people...BUT NEVER forget. I love you,and God loves you too!
the videos are clips from amnesty international. its a website that publishes human rights violations in an attempt to fix the problems. truly amazing.
This song is sooooo underrated, the emotions within this video are gut wrenching and its beging for help like how did this song just never get the recognition it deserved. Listening to this song for 15 years im surprised this video dont have millions of views
Change my attempt, good intentions [Verse 1] Crouched over, you were not there, living in fear But signs were not really that scarce, obvious tears But I will not hide you through this, I want you to help them Please see the bleeding heart perched on my shirt Die, withdraw, hide in cold sweat, quivering lips Ignore remorse, naming a kid, living wasteland This time you've tried all that you can, turning you red [Chorus] Change my attempt, good intentions Should I? Could I? Here we are with your obsession Should I? Could I? [Verse 2] Crowned, hopeless, the article read, "living wasteland" This time you've tried all that you can, turning you red But I will not hide you through this, I want you to help [Chorus] Change my attempt, good intentions Should I? Could I? Here we are with your obsession Should I? Could I? [Bridge] Heave the silver, hollow sliver Piercing through another victim Turn and tremble, be judgmental Ignorant to all the symbols Blind the face with beauty paste Eventually, you'll one day know [Chorus] Change my attempt, good intentions Limbs tied, skin tight Self inflicted his perdition Should I? Could I? Change my attempt, good intentions Should I? Could I?

Saw 10 years live in 06, I enjoyed it so much that i took my then 7yr old son to see them in 2011 it was his first show and a great one. He's 20 now and still tells everyone what a great experiense it was.
I enjoyed this song when It first came out I listened to it on the radio whenever it came on when my mom was driving places it always tugged on my heartstrings now I'm 27 going on 28 and this song still hits hard:) wish I could have saw them
It really comes to show to count your blessings and realize that there's others out there that have it way worse. The stories behind the people in this music video show us (unless you're in the same boat as them) that we really don't have it that bad, and if we are going through some type of trial and hardship, it won't last forever and it will eventually come to its conclusion. These people in the video have to live with these scars (physical and emotional) either for good, or for prolonged periods of time. It really is a tearjerker, and I can say that I've shed some years typing this post. Everyone stay strong and keep persevering as you have this entire time. Always find some type of silver lining in your tribulations, even if it takes a while to find it. 😢🙏🏻🎩
@PeteGonzales-lr5ft if I had any advice to give you its just stay as busy as possible. Not sure how far into your journey of unoblivion you are but for me- the beginning was toughest because all of my "friends" were those that I messed around with. The loneliness and isolation was so brutal. It took forever to realize that I needed it though. Haha. Learning how to be ok in the silence, how to withstand the onslaught and monotony of the daily grind. But yeah - staying busy. Doesn't necessarily mean work yourself to death- but it does mean maybe picking up other hobbies. I went the work myself to death route and while it alone wasn't enough- it did at least give me a new circle of friends. And that made all the difference
I'm so glad my shit memory could pull off remembering this being played in my dad's car over and over again - growing up I now know the feelings he felt then.
Hey world. Random NY native and recovering substance addict, still heavy heavy music abuse. Puzzled how Ive never heard of them. Awesome video. Need more like these. 3/31/21 and we thought things were bad 10 years ago. Boy we had no clue. Much love
Music is my time machine. This album will forever be my time in the Army while deployed. Back then I listened to escape. It programmed me, and now I listen to revisit and remember. The people, not the place. I love you Tony, RIP my brother.
I just found this band and I absolutely love them .. This song grounds me , makes me appreciate what I didn't go though . It tells me that my life could have been a lot worse . I feel so bad for the people that has experienced this . Go with God everyone .
Listen to the entire Autumn Effect album. Just put it on and listen. It flows like a concept album, the emotions just...I can't really put it into words. Really that album should be in a " top 100 " or something. You will enjoy and be enlightened by it.
Yeah song hit me hard my friend showing me lyrics for this song and its about drug addiction as his attempt getting me to stop shooting meth in my veins with the hollow sliver pierces another victim limbs tied skin tight self inflicted

I literally had my father tell me as a kid this song was about drug abuse and would punish me if he caught me listening to it. Kind of ironic that it has more to do with reaching out and being kind to those who are struggling or have struggled. Still speaks to me all these years later ❤
IF more bands sang like 10 Years, world peace would finally be possible. I still live in hope for this. These lyrics speak to me in a way that few things can. I truly believe that music and poetry can change the world. Thank you 10 Years for keeping my hope alive, even in 2022. :D
because people who were born early enough to hear them thought and still think that rock is evil, even though its probably one of the most emotional and heartfelt type of music
Most people who understand this become something else if you’ve made it and you wanna be who you are finally you’ve done everything and should be the greatest respect
Dudes, I tried so hard to find this song again after a decade. I didnt remember, so I googled "24 Years- Greenland" don't ask me how the fuck I ended up here. Lmao.Luckers.
Completely forgot about this band after I lost all of their music on an old phone I had. Heard their song on the radio today and I'm so glad that I got reconnected with this band after so many years :,)
My acquaintance with the works of 10 Years began in 2021 with this song. I am completely captivated, and I still don't understand how I missed these geniuses in the 2000s when such music was at its peak. This band resonates in unison with my teenage depression, which shaped me as a person for life. Boundless gratitude and admiration for the talented musicians who so subtly feel harmonization and melody.
@@nicklangatang2136 foo fighters is a pretty good band . The lead singer used to be a part of nirvana. Pretty cool Hu :). You probably already know that though
This song really helps me with my sobriety. I'm not fully clean unfortunately though. I have had problems with harder drugs such as her*in, c*caine, met****hetamine, nitr*us *xide, any pill given to me, and marijuana. But the one I've yet to quit because it's a legal addiction is alcohol. I've been on and off with booze for years, but that's my final triumph. Honest to God glad there's so many musicians putting addiction trouble into music so that others have a foothold to quit. Hopefully I kick alcohol soon with the help of these guys and many more
I've lived a similar life man and alcohol was the root of it all. I was a highly functional alcoholic, went to rehab once and quit cold turkey and my lowest darkest time. I'm coming up on 3 years sober now. You got this!
This song makes me so sad, when you watch the video and see videos of what it's like in other countries, its both heartbreaking and disgusting. We really are blessed to be in America, and this video is a good reminder to be greatful. My heart goes out to all the broken souls of the world, everyone deserves freedom
You're totally right. I hate to make this political but a lot of people who live in America don't know exactly how good they have it. Saying it's terrible. Sure, some things here may suck but atleast women here have rights to their bodies, it isn't illegal to be LGBTQ, you have freedom of speech, they don't kill female babies like China does. We really have it good here no matter how you look at it. People turn a blind eye to the crap that goes on in Russia, China, and the middle east. I'm glad to be in America
@@nitabagels6969 I hate to tell both of ya'll this but that human trafficking is happening right here in the USA. Most of it is from trafficking across the Mexican border. Horrible things. Our Politicians are trying to distance themselves from it because Like Epstein Island, there is a huge skeleton in our counties closet and the elites are trying not to make it public.

Such a criminally underrated band!
Without a doubt, if only they got more publicity.
So true
They would have made it bigger if they were original. There a cookie cutter hard rock 2000s band. I mean they’re pretty much a rhcp clone

Like, I've loved this song ever since I was a kid - and I never really knew _why_ that was, I just knew I understood it on some deeply intimate level.
_"I will not hide you through this_
_I want you to help them, please see_
_The bleeding heart perched on my shirt"_
To me, it's about the inability to help one another.
Man u know we could make this world so much better but we r so selfish luv and peace to you my friend

This music video is still powerful. There are people we may come across in life that may have a scar of trauma. Physically or mentally, they have managed to make it far.
This song is unfortunately relevant every year
Went to see 10 years live for the first time, sound unheard, while they were touring TAE many moons ago. I was instantly enamored with their sound and have carried them around in my head since then. Thanks for the tunes!
Half way through 2022 and I'm still jamming this like the day it came out.
I was typing in ten years gone by Led Zeppelin and my brain was like oh yeah! Ten years! Wasteland!

am i the only one that thinks 2006 is one of the best recent years in music? cause damn that year had some dope ass songs
Holy crap yes. Three Days Grace's Never Too Late immediately comes to mind.
YESSSSSSS thats one of my favorites too
The song was actually released in 2004 on their killing all that holds you album, which they later redid in 2005 for autumn effect. 2006 is only the year it was uploaded on youtube :P
ThreshIsAPrison still good years for music
laabitres hell yea!
The suffering these people endured is absolutely heartbreaking
What the hell are we, as humans, doing to each other...
First time I sat down to watch the video than listen to the music. What a trip. Really made me think back on my life up to this point and realize it isn't THAT bad.
i never looked at this song with this kind of meaning just thought id listen to it tonight after not hearing it in years. blew my mind
It's always eye opening to watch a video like this, and realize when you think you've nearly lost faith in all of humanity, that you actually still deeply care about humanity, and that some people out there have it way worse than you and their perspectives on the world are probably more positive than your own.
Amen...
The songs intro seems really familiar with a different song but can't quite think of it
This song and video show that those of us blessed with safety, security, the basic things we take for granted are truly blessed.

One of the most underrated song of the 200's. Phenomenal. Still holds strong almost 20 years later!
good ol 200 BC!
lol jk brotha. I totally forgot about this song.....
This song hits so much harder being almost 30 in 2023. The atrocities are the same. The atrocities evolved the same way social construct evolved. Monetary value is put far ahead of the value of human life. The cycle will only continue until human life is worth more than Monetary value across the board.
Basically .. happy new year eh ? I know now just like in the song.. terrible shlt 😢
Key word is construct, order out of chaos the true name of the game.
Beautiful voice on the lead singer. Powerful and gorgeous song. Love this.
still get goosebumps after all these years.
How many years was it? 10?

Met these guys and Evans Blue at an after party in Houston. I can't say enough how down to Earth both bands were. Just good guys having the times of their lives.
The part where he says turn and tremble has stuck with me through all these years. This song is awesome
I wish you all the Best things in this world! You certainly deserve them. Never give up!
Surrender to the Lord Jesus ....then forgive ....let the healing begin ....your not alone ....if God is with us who can be against us....

Man this song use to come on at 6 am in the radio everyday, high-school flashbacks starting.
Honestly i come back to this song every once in a while and honestly it hasn’t lost its messed up charm after 11 years truly amazing
I'm so glad my mom showed me this type of music

Hell yeah i feel ya in the friends part thanks man i appreciate that aint got much freinds now that parts crazy huh lol @@justinm2797

'95 here. Just in time
This song really helps me with my sobriety.
Can't stop crying man I've heard this song a million times but never watched the video damn dawg.
Its deep bro. Same here.
I love this song and this band, can't believe it's been 11 yrs since it came out!!!
Our Politicians are trying to distance themselves from it because Like Epstein Island, there is a huge skeleton in our counties closet and the elites are trying not to make it public.
country's not counties
@@nitabagels6969 you’ve got that right. We take freedom for granted.
Too true. Search Yeonmi Park, and learn about how bad it is in North Korea, from someone who experienced it first-hand.
This song is low key about human trafficking's, abuse and sex slavery. God will defeat this. Pray !!
Knowing the background of this song makes it all the more moving. RIP Brad Renfro.
