    I love how Ethan Hunt is a perfect character without flaw, and they're fully aware of that. His greatest challenges are choosing between two goods. He is the literal manifestation of destiny.

    • @johnnychopsocky
      @johnnychopsocky Год назад +15

      Don't forget how they've been steadily subverting that over the last 3 films with Ethan looking at the latest death-defying stunt he's going to have to do and doing everything save for 'sighing out loud' at the prospect. Just a mental "damnit, here I go again..." Dude is *tired* but he still needs to go to work, and that is really relatable.

      I don’t think he’s meant to be shown as a perfect character, since his plans fail more than they succeed. His greatness as a character is in showing the human capacity for greatness if one can focus on it.
      This is sold very well since Cruise himself is doing it all for real, pushing himself to extremes that very few would, but any able bodied man could do if they wanted to as much as he does.

      Best franchise with great stunts. Tom Cruise and Jackie Chan deserve more respect.

    The best ongoing franchise to date. No franchise has ever been so throughly consistent as this one. No franchise minus maybe John Wick and James Bond are regularly doing these kinds of stunts and always aiming higher. There is an old fashion charm to this franchise from its exotic and real locations to its relatively simple and welcoming formula. Great video as always.

    Ghost Protocol's Burj Khalifa scene in IMAX in 2011 was one of my favorite movie theater experiences of all time, I still have the soundtrack burnt into my memory and can remember the tension of the scene

    Great video, I managed to catch a theatrical screening of 'Mission Impossible' earlier this year and The Langley heist is now the best experience of a movie scene I've ever had with an audience (full house but everyone eerily sitting so still and calm as if worried they were going to set off the alarm system as well as Hunt).

    Ghost Protocol is definitely my favourite of these movies...
    1 is a classic
    2 had too much slo mo
    3 was ok...but I thought this would be it
    4 was a revelation and perfectly tuned and paced
    5 + 6 were equally great and amazing thrill rides and they kept the quality of the 4th.
    But part 4 was a perfect reboot and the focus on practical stunts instead of over the to slo mo and style made the franchise that much better

    That was great video and great breakdown and you're right about the scene being a turning point but not the movie. Ghost Protocol, while being a decent MI movie is not really the point where the franchise evolved, I personally think that ROGUE NATION is responsible for that, having Christopher Mcquarrie write and direct these films is really a game changer.

    • @peace4myheart
      @peace4myheart Год назад +1

      What he is saying is that the movie focus less on Ethan and more on the team and that was the turning point for the franchise moving forward. Rogue Nation builds upon that formula
