D2 Lenoir-Rhyne EMBARRASSES Louisville in college basketball exhibition game

- The preseason exhibition college basketball game between Division 2 Lenoir-Rhyne and Louisville saw the Cards suffer an embarrassing defeat as they lost 57-47 on their home court. While the game does not go against their record, it certainly raises concern for how the rest of the season will go under first year coach Kenny Payne.

For those that don’t know, I do post college basketball too but the focus of the channel will still be college football until the season is over 👍
Tomorrow night my college plays an exhibition game
Hopefully this is how Louisville plays all season. Duke fan, basketball and football.

@@devinbarlow7953 As a college basketball fan, I hope your team plays poorly.
🤘
The first upset of the season and college basketball doesn’t start until next week… Well just hope that they don’t finish last in the ACC. Maybe they weren’t taking it seriously
My brother goes there though so it would be funny if they did since then maybe Nebraska is better than them
Don't look too far into it. Auburn lost an exhibition to a D2 squad in 2017, and proceeded to place first in the SEC that year. Then made the school's first ever Final Four the following year. You guys can still easily rebound from this. If nothing else, it's a good game to review to improve. Lots of flaws to work on before the games start actually counting.
they probably too kit slow to avoid injuries
It’s a D2. You’ve gotta be straight up trying to lose.
@@sockhopper tell me u know nothing about basketball without actually saying it😂 there are d2 programs that would beat d1 s 9/10 times.. that saying it should never happen in a power 5 simply Bc of recruiting but to say u have to try to lose is ridiculous they are college basketball players who are skilled. Biggest different is size and athleticism which u can see without discipline doesn’t matter
I don't think people are realizing the magnitude of this. I know it is just an exhibition game, but this is a D2 SCHOOL that went 10-18 LAST YEAR and they lost by DOUBLE-DIGITS AT HOME!!! Just insane. Louisville is in big trouble.
they probably took it slow to avoid injuries
@@MickeyMouse-lm6zj don't matter. You don't want to start the season with such an embarrassing game
I'll be monitoring both programs going forward. Curious how big the gap between D1 and D2 CBB really si
I agree and even in the D2 ranks Lenoir-Rhyne is considered more of a Football school.
LRC were without their Top 2 scorers in the game too.
This is funny to me cuz I played lacrosse at LR and when they came back home no one thought they were serious when they said we won, cuz we were absolute shit last year
Greg Paradine's boys? or Buck's Girls?
Lenoir-Ryhne: Ready to contend for a D2 championship
Louisville: Please don't die in the ACC
are they
they probably took it slow to avoid injuries
@@MickeyMouse-lm6zj just because you say it in reply to every comment doesn't mean it's true 💀
@@MickeyMouse-lm6zj Why can't Louisville play at a D1 level without getting injured? That in and of itself should be a red flag if you actually believe what you're saying.
I had the same thought at the time, but Lenoir-Ryhne is only 8-10 overall this season, so it appears they're nowhere near a D2 championship. Which makes this U of L loss look all the worse.
Fold the program
Not that my Beavs are a "basketball powerhouse", but we got embarrassed by D2 Western Oregon University at home several years ago. Strangely enough I think we still ended up having a decent season THAT year and made the NCAA tournament(got bounced in the first round...lol), and also, I think that year WOU went to the D2 Final Four.
Where is Western Oregon located?
@@CapeFear1 Monmouth, OR iirc.
@@CapeFear1 Monmouth, Oregon. About 20 min north from Corvallis.

Louisville lost to 1:56 mans jumpshot 💀
Imao what was that 💀
As a Kansas State fan, we lost to Fort Hays State a few years ago, I know this pain. It sucks a lot.
Missouri lost to UMKC a few years ago. Ik they’re D1 but it’s also pretty embarrassing
wtf has Louisville been doing in practice?
Good job to Lenior-Rhyne
Well as a KENTUCKY FAN I guess it’s safe to assume that we will be enjoying DJ WAGNER IN KENTUCKY BLUE NEXT YEAR
Not getting any top 50 recruits
I remember Iowa lost to a d2 school in an exhibition game one year and they were a top 5 team for a good part of that same year. Louisvilles in a bad spot but I wouldn’t take too much stock from this
I agree this isn't college football
same thing with Cuse in 2009 lost to a D2 school in an exhibition, and then went 30-5 in the season.
Yeah d2s are good, and d1 teams usually don't have much scout on them I would imagine. Plus playing a d1 school is always a big deal to d2/d3 teams, so they're locked in from start to finish.
@@drew284 spot-on. i don't think people understand that division 2 basketball is a very high level of basketball. There is a ton of division 1 talent that plays in division 2 for one reason or another. There isn't much difference between a really good d2 team and a low major d1 team, apart from maybe size and depth. Tons of d1 players transfer down to d2 and end up struggling for playing time every season.
Can we take much stock from it now? You know, since Louisville is now 0-9.
A big upset and the season hasn’t even started yet Louisville is in huge trouble
they probably took it slow to avoid injuries
Louisville still should have won if they were half-Assing it out there. Player talent between these 2 schools should be extreme.
@@MickeyMouse-lm6zj you are in every comment, are you a Louisville fan or something
Fast forward to mid-December and they are 0-9. Count this embarrassing game and they are 0-10.
@@troybaxter They’re so dog crap but they’re only win if the year will probably be against my team which is NC State

Guess even the Jack Harlow hype concert couldn't help Louisville 🤷♂️
As a louisville fan, I don't think I've ever been more embarrassed smh
As an ACC fan, we are not off to a good start.
My Hogs were humbled by Texas in our exhibition Saturday, but at least we beat the D2 team we played.
Losing a scrimmage is one thing. Losing a buy in game by double digits on your home floor is an entirely different thing.
Awesome. Love to see an underdog pull off an upset. Thanks for posting this, PSC! Happy Halloween, everyone! 💯 👍 🎃

@@MickeyMouse-lm6zj that still doesn’t excuse losing that bad to a D2 school.
@@MickeyMouse-lm6zj Lol,wishful thinking, Louisville is bad till they get some recruits
With how louisville is going this season I don’t think this is much of an upset

You sound jealous because not 1 Louisville player is one and done...you just don't have talent.
Louisville Graduates can’t even spell one and done. The hell are you talking about. Louisville fans would do unscrupulous things for a one and done recruit. Louisville is just bad lmao.
Louisville just dropped their exibition game this year too
Wait basketball!!! I HAVE LOST TRACK OF TIME!
You would expect them to be contending for a D2 title the way they beat Louisville but they’re like a middle - bad d2 program lol
They miss those recruiting methods of a certain assistant coach a few years ago. (Joking)
2:55 good to see KP having a great time here. Fans behind him don't seem too amused, none of us are, except KP apparently.
It’s funny y’all thought DJ Wagner
Was actually going to come to Louisville 😂
He is a done deal to KENTUCKY
THIS IS TOO FUNNY .., y’all didn’t land Bradshaw or Wagner
KENTUCKY GOT BOTH OF THEM

This is why people should not underestimate division 2 college basketball
Louisville was winning 13-4, which means at one point they were outscored 53-32.
speaking of college basketball the only basketball team I will watch is Lsu women’s basketball just cause I’m from Louisiana and I wanna have a team to cheer for that type of year where it’s just basketball on and the football season ends unless Lsu mens basketball has a good rebuild season from scratch but I don’t think that will happen
lsu is mid in the sec but vandy is better and that’s not good
And that’s exactly why I really don’t wanna watch the mens team play this season
I seen some Kentucky blue in the crowd. They love attending Louisville sporting events as weird as that sounds. They're gonna be the only ones at Louisville games this season lmao
I looked for a player named Lenoir-Rhyne for the first 30 seconds of the video...
Lady at 3:01 was not having it
Kenny Payne looks too happy to lose. Big programs are throwing their program away on garbage coaches
nah Louisville is disqualified for the AP poll until at least January
Bro it’s preseason not even a big deal and I’m not even a college basketball fan
A year later Louisville still losing to D2 teams💀
kyle dugger over the moon rn
Seems like the gap between D1 and D2 isn’t that significant
It is. Louisville is just atrocious
Woof that's a confidence breaker
Or it could be a complacency killer. This could provide the spark to get the Cards to push themselves hard.
Did Lenoir-rhyme get paid also? Cool. The big guy shooting 3s, nice
I do believe LR was paid, not sure how much tho
Imagine what the heels are gonna do to them
That's basketball anyone can play.. but try it in American football different result..
Where is the "you cant make to much of an exhibition crowd" 😂😂😂😂
At least our football team did good
When u play 2K on HOF vs a weak team
Someone needs to be held accountable…
Yeah I think what is most concerning for Louisville is the fact that they only put up 47 points against a mediocre D2 school. They couldn't have been trying very hard in this game, right?! It would literally take effort to play this poorly I would think. Normally I wouldn't put much stock into these exhibition games but Louisville looked awful. This could be a long year for the Cards.
We have no shooters other than Ellis and our defensive effort is beyond poor. Only way we can have a decent record is if we really work on the defensive effort quick. Even then it'll be tough with no shooters, our situation very much reminds me of the Lakers rn
@@brandonhasgrit couple of prophets in these comments I see. Louisville 7 games in still has absolutely no shooters. I’m sorry for you guys.
Those guards on Louisville are trash. The second that the LR 5 showed that he could shoot and pulled their 5 out the lane, they had no chance. I know Louisville is gling through it with the NCAA, but this season could get ugly. Any team with bigs that can shoot will be able to pack them up.
Makes sense, Louisville is 0-8
@Will Muny I don’t think it can really be that much worse. Cal and Louisville are currently the only D1 teams without a win.
At the end The fans was looking at the Louisville coach like hell naw 😂
All ten of em
Looks like team ball vs street ball
Ummm
Wow they got COOKED!!!!!
This new Louisville coach I’d like to see him coach for life. I live an hour from Lenoir Rhyne that’s OK give coach a a raise🤣🤣🤣
Not only did Louisville get beat by a D2 team but they only scored 47 points and then they got beat by bellermine who just moved up to D1 a year or two ago
Just came to take a look at how pathetic KP, his staff and players really were. Loafing, no energy, no hustle… KP had no clue how to build
A team.
The chaos from Football is finding it’s way to Basketball!!
Louisville couldn't beat St Denis. And they're paying their coach millions.
Going to be fine in the long run. This year will be rough but give it a couple years and we'll be relevant again
Well y’all sure ain’t getting DJ WAGNER TO COME TO LOUISVILLE … THATS A GURANTEE

AAU players with athleticism vs Fundamentals. AAU basketball was the worst thing to happen to black basketball players.
Coming back to add a comment, Lenoir-Rhyne ended their season 11-15... Louisville literally got embarrassed by a trash/mid D2 school...
it’s funny because Louisville fans were talking all the trash when UK only scored 6 points to Tennessee since they “upset” a trash #10 Wake Forest. oh how the tables have turned the next day. still the little brother

You'd think as a UK fan, I'd love this, but I don't. I know it's an exhibition but watching this worries me a little. The excitement that usually comes with Kentucky and Louisville basketball isn't there. The stands are empty. There isn't any excitement in the building at all. Payne is great and loved him at UK, he will get Louisville together.
This should’ve been a warning sign. Cardinals fans I STILL can’t believe Louisville was this bad that season.
This Louisville team would easily beat my Mountaineers this season
I didn't even know this happened. My FSU Noles are 0-3 with losses to Stetson, UCF and Troy. How in THE fuck?!?!
This is not a good Louisville team. First year coach rebuilding the Brand. Picked to finish last in the ACC this year. Exhibition loss is not good but year doesn’t necessarily count against KP. NCAA case just resolved and proved Louisville not the cheater the media tried scapegoat it to be. Never had a one and done player and always won with veteran players who developed over the years. As soon as Pitino started to get 5 star guys to commit scandals start. Many around the area know Rick made some powerful people target him. But in the end he has some what been vindicated. But the damage to Louisville has clearly been done.
I swear the big White guys that resemble Vikings/Scandinavians always be cooking in college basketball games
as a Louisville basketball fan, this is embarrassing. they weren’t even showing effort. makes me embarrassed just watching it
Hahahaha. I love this.

Having played D1 basketball, most people don't realize there isn't much of a difference between upper tier D2 and lower tier D1. This team is akin to a Morehead or an EKU. Seen in that light it isn't quite as alarming. Louisville will be fine.
Yes I totally agree with you that upper level D2 teams are quite good. Unfortunately, LR went 10-18 last season, so unless they are poised for a spectacular turnaround this season, they're not an upper level D2 team.
@@muffinnnnnnnnn and LR was without their 2 best scorers

Well…. About that…. Louisville is now 0-9 as of 12/14 (pending tonight’s game). That’s bad, and it shows based on this game.
I like the logo in the middle
It doesn't count against Louisville, but then again it does. How is it such a notable D1 school that has two legal NCAA titles in 1980 and 1986 (the third one in 2013 taken away for Pitino's cheating) to lose to a D2 team and not feel embarrassed?
Way to go L R!!!!!!!!
As a Creighton fan, I bet Louisville wishes they had Frederick king
can we talk about the fucking SICK midcourt logo
Look at the Louisville coach's smile during the handshake, compared to the looks of the fans behind him. I know it's the handshake and you gotta be cordial and congratulatory, but that doesn't look like a coach who has the team or fans' best interest in mind.
Always love how kids see things. This take is particularly funny. Most of these comments have no idea who Kenny Payne is or what exhibition games are meant for.
Go CARDS!
Louisville can't handle Division 2 LRC!
My freshman year at Baylor we lost our exhausted game to Tarleton St (D2 at the time.) However, we still made the Tournament for the first time in years that year.
This is not uncommon. D2 schools sometimes have good hungry players that want a shot at playing D1 programs and show out against them.
