The actor who plays Lieutenant Dan is such a great guy. He started a foundation for veterans of war and had done so much for that community that we was made an “honorary Lieutenant” - kind of like being knighted, but by the military. Great film. I enjoyed watching it with you gals. ❤️
I always thought being of above average intelligence in the Army was a hindrance. You always find yourself questioning the whats and whys instead of just doing. Didn't help when your chain of command and chain of support were clearly not very smart people and only got where they were because they did what they were told.
Just like what college or uni students are perceived as. Person A: "They've got a degree, they must be so smart." Person B: "No, they just did what they're told." Hence why students have always been tools for their lecturer's agenda, and questioning said lecturer is considered taboo. Same goes for religion.
@@TheKidDoc81 College students are actually often perceived as irresponsible partygoers. Because smartness in a specific field doesn't equate to smartness in general.
Jenny's problem is how she was used and abused, 1st by her father, then by every man she met except Forrest. She felt like she was worth nothing and was never going to be worth anything and would just bring Forrest down with her , she had no idea how to love anyone. It wasn't until she had little Forrest and was give one pure good thing in her life she was able to find her self worth to a point and then accepted that she loved Forrest and always had and it was OK to love someone and not expect them to hurt her. It is very complicated and you get snippets of it in every scene she is in. The first thing you see is all she knows how to do is run from anything as she keeps telling Forrest to do , she doesn't know any other way to deal with the pain and bad and it takes her so long to finally figure it out ( unfortunately this is true for too many and some never get to figure anything out) , Jenny deserves pity not hate , she didn't know how to love until it was too late but she gave Forrest 2 gifts before she left, true love and what it feels like , and someone to love and give his life meaning in Forrest Jr. . Forrest might not be a genius but I would lay any bet he is an incredibly loving and good father.
She is basically a metaphor for modern thots or women today. They spend all of they good years late teens and 20's ignoring the good men, men of actual character and get ran through by countless guys who to their credit have either been very successful or just shitty dangerous assholes. Then after popping out a couple of kids go crawling back to some jackass who will now save them and have him pay to raise their kids. After the kids grow older, here comes the divorce lawyer. Jenny just died before she could take Forest's money!
Wow, that was spot on about "Run Forest Run," Thank you for sharing that, it makes so much sense they way you put it. One of those many things you miss until someone else points it out. Thanks
Being a victim of any situation does not give the right to shit on good people let alone pitty. If ur not a good person i guess u get a pass cause trauma in that case no ones quilty if u have a past riddle by trauma and your own decisions
Which doesn't make sense because they said the IQ test is based on racism and abelism! So forest is actually disappointed that little forest isn't as smart as him.

Hey Hingle, I agree with you 100 percent. I wonder if the final product of this movie exceeded the expectations that the cast/crew had when they shot the film. I feel like they might have known this movie was going to be something special! Whenever I watch Forrest Gump, my experience with the movie is that it is SO engaging and well-acted that it feels like it is a quick watch even though the movie is almost 2 1/2 hours long. I just find it to be very inspirational, and it has moments that I think most people can relate to on an emotional level. Also, my brother has Autism, which makes me connect with the movie even more (I know Forrest did not have Autism, but him and my brother can relate a bit in that they are both disabled). Back in February this year, I actually posted a video on my channel that is almost like a tribute video to Forrest Gump (though I called it a Mashup). You see, there's a band named Family Of The Year, and they used their hit song "Hero" for Richard Linklater's 2014 movie called Boyhood. For my video, I used "Hero" as background music while showing various scenes from Forrest Gump. Aside from matching song lyrics with movie scenes, my intention with the video was to try and create something unique. If you have a few minutes sometime and are interested, here is a link to that video: ruclips.net/video/Or-sIiNANYg/видео.html If you don't check it out, no worries at all! I won't be offended! When Tom Hanks was asked in an interview how he came up with his accent and speech pattern for Forrest, he said it was the way the young actor who played Forrest as a boy spoke. He loved his cadence so much that he listened to recording of the boy speaking until he could replicate it. That young boy grew up and went into the military.
No. He said they were working with the kid all day to get rid of the accent and he wasn’t getting it and then Tom said why don’t I just talk the way he talks instead of trying to get him to talk like me.
I've seen this film so many times since it came out when I was little, and that scene, if nothing else always gets me. I even cry during reactions. The only time I don't is when I'm trying really hard not to.
This movie took 10 years to make. No studio wanted the movie, it took three writes and three different scripts. Tom Hanks couldn't find the voice for Forrest until they brought in the actor for young Forrest.
Well of course it took that long, no one wanted to make a story about some pothead racist asshole. Good thing they found a screenwriter who could turn the character into someone likable, so much so that the original author actually made Forrest more like the movie character when he wrote the book sequel. 🤦🏻♂️😂
I'm an old fart and I remember the 60s, 70s, and 80s and every single historical reference in the movie. For example, running for health became very popular in the 80s, that's why Forrest ran for 3 years... and in the movie, he sparked a movement.
The part of Bubba was offered to both Ice Cube and Dave Chappelle, who both declined. Both of them to this day admit to regretting not taking the role.
Dave Chappelle's character makes a crack at bubba x forrest gump friendship in Undercover Brother. Makes that bit even funnier knowing he turned it down.

In the part where he's talking at the monument and the dude shuts off his mic but Forest keeps talking, when he comes back on we hear the end "And that's all I have to say, about that.." which is what he usually ends a story with if he's talking about someone who has died. And knowing Forest, taking about Vietnam, he probably talked about meeting Bubba and how he died by that river in his arms. Which is unintentionally a really good antiwar story. The recurring theme of just stripping everything away and just seeing the simplicity of it. He went, he made a friend, his friend died. He went, met Lt. Dan, Dan lost his legs but he remains Dan Taylor. All of the little stories through the whole movie are just reality as seen by someone unburdened with the baggage society places on us.
tom hanks said that when the mics were cut off Forrest said "Sometimes when people go to Vietnam, they go home to their mommas without any legs. Sometimes they don't go home at all." But its important to note that tom hanks is not the creator of the story nor wrote the book so make of that what you will.
I don't think Forest's message was as simple as an "anti-war message." I am a retired soldier in my country, I know what it is to serve, what it is to live a war and what is there when returning from that place. Believe me, what we soldiers see, think or feel and what the Protestants see, think or feel are different. Most of us when we see people protesting war issues…all we see is people in masks, hypocrites who claim to be on your side and then are talking about you behind your back portraying you as a fool or a butcher. Protestants are the same as politicians, they have an agenda to direct the destiny of others from the comfort of their sofas, they all want is to use you or propagandize your circumstances in exchange for personal gain. Forest's message was probably something more along the lines of "a lot of the best people I've known fought in Vietnam, some came back some didn't but their memories will always be with me wherever I go and all I ask all of you is respect them, they were already used in life for the good of one or the other, do not use them also after death.
@@stevejoshua9536 Though he died in the novel, it could be implied in the film that he abandoned his wife and child, because he didn't want to take the responsibility of a son who was mentally challenged.
One of the greatest movies ever starring one of the greatest actors ever. I live in Vietnam. My girlfriend like some western movies and shows I show her, but she falls asleep during many of them. This movie, she was glued to it the whole time. She cried, and at the end she said “we watch again tomorrow with my sister.” She loves this movie so much.
I saw this movie when it came out, in theaters, when I was an early teenager. I've seen it countless times since. I never noticed the birds chirping, when Forrest walks away from Jenny' grave, at the end and made the connection to her line earlier in he movie. I've been watching this movie for thirty years, longer than I've been an adult it still surprises me. That's art, like noticing brush strokes in a painting, that you've never seen before, thanks for your perspective.
They weren't just chirping. Jenny prayed to fly away, hence we see birds doing so above her grave. Another one that people tend to miss is Forrest & his son tilting their heads when sitting side-by-side. Thus, no paternity test needed.
The feather really did go with the theme of the movie. Forrest questioned the nature of life, and if LT. Dan or his mother got it right. In the end, he concludes that both were correct. Like the feather we are mostly just freely floating around. But also, there are things outside of our control that we are destined to come across that will completely affect our path.
@@jp3813, yes, the feather has been interpreted in so many ways and of course, there is no right or wrong answer to what it means. From the time I first saw the movie, I thought the feather was us, the viewers. We floated in the air, landed at the feet of Forrest and ended up hearing his wonderful story. And at the end, we floated away again. When we land again at some other place, maybe we will hear another story, hopefully as inspiring as the previous one.
This is the culmination of the ideas in the movie and it’s often overlooked, probably because of the emotion of the scene. Forrest realizes and understands what most people don’t bother to consider; existence is both completely chaotic and influenced by our actions.
The line I like best from the movie is what the feather is about, I think: "I don't know if we each have a destiny, or if we're all just floating around accidental-like on a breeze, but I, I think maybe it's both. Maybe both is happening at the same time."
Forrest Gump won the Oscar for best film and the other nods were great, like Shawshank. But through the years, each watch has given me further reason to say that they rewarded the right movie. I think if this film was released in any other year, it would win. That's how timeless it is.
THE most favorite and emotional scene is when forest was talking bout all the places he was when he was at Vietnam and running the shrimp boat and running across country and Jenny said "I wish I could be there with you" and forest said "you were" the best way to let the person know you care so much and you love them for all time
My favorite scene will always be Lt Dan thanking Forrest and “making his peace with God”. He finally came to terms and accepted the life he is living. The fact that he lost his legs. The fact that he didn’t die his “glory” death on the battlefield. He finally thanked Forrest for saving him, TWICE. First in Vietnam and the second time with his depression and helping him get back to living. He is finally happy and at peace with his life, his past, and with himself. Truly the most beautiful scene, seeing a man finally accept his happiness and his life because his fellow brother-in-arm didn’t abandon him.
Love this explanation. Lt Dan's and Forrests relationship was the most heart touching in this film. When he turns up at the wedding, always chokes me up. They have this few seconds look of appreciation and respect for one another. Then both smile so happily x
Drill Sergeant are supposed to break you down until you're completely empty inside and ready to be filled with the knowledge you need to survive in the war. The fact that Forrest is fitting in there like "one of them round pegs" is amazing. He has to meet someone who is supposed to shit on him as a job but he gets recognition instead hhahahaa.
My father was a history teacher and his read was that Forrest (and his friends) was the entire Boomer generation of The US embodied in a (cast of) character(s). Strong, good hearted, not too bright, still phenomenally successful, due in part to the counsel of his (smarter) friends. Jenny represents the counter culture, and by extension, civil rights, feminism, AIDS crisis etc. Lt Dan was about the generation coming to terms with Vietnam and represented the scientific advancements of the time referencing the space program and the tech industry. (In the book Forrest actually goes into space)
hanks actually learned his accent for the role from hanging out with the actor who played young forrest, which is kinda neat, it also helps soften his character up more learning a kids accent, i mean when we're older it's a littler different

It's personally hard for me to choose my favorite scene in Forrest Gump (or even narrow it down to 2-3 scenes) because there is just so many awesome scenes altogether! And even though the storyline is fictional, I still find it to be very inspirational, and it has moments that I think most people can relate to on an emotional level. Doing it “their way” by adding a scene & insuring a dangerous one, really didn't add anything to the story. They didn't pay for anything out of their own pockets. Their salaries accounted for ¼ of the budget, so they agreed to a lesser fee in exchange for a piece of the profits. They ended up making 10X their original salaries, this had little to do with artistic integrity.

Tom Hanks was phenomenal in this movie. He was killing it in every movie at that time. Look at all the great movies he was in - Forrest Gump The Green Mile Philadelphia You’ve Got Mail Sleepless In Seattle I started watching him when he was in Bossom Buddies on tv when I was a kid, then he graduated to B movies like Batchelor Party, and finally to Big, which made him a legitimate movie star. He really lucked out in that role. Otherwise these girls would probably never hear of him and he’d be long since out of entertainment, or popping up every now and then on Law and Order or something.
It is so refreshing to see young people being able to connect this movie with historic events. A lot of kids from this generation need to look up everything on their phone. You young ladies are so much fun!!! Great job!!!!!!!
Forrest's kid is played by Haley Joel Osment--if you haven't seen The Sixth Sense yet, it's one of, if not the, greatest performance by a child actor. Highly recommend.
"Is he smart?", my favorite line. And Jenny was so damaged you have to sympathize with her BUT the cynical side of me hates the timing of she's sick with a uncurbable virus and calling Forrest to come play captain save'em to secure the future of her and her son. But Forrest doesn't question it or care so...
As a "old man" I think is my duty to clarify that "the virus" they are talking about was probably Aids, rampant in those years, especially among people with Jenny's lifestyle
@@JacopoBasanisi, As a Fellow "old Man", it is my duty to confirm that you are right, the "virus" was HIV/AIDS and the life Jenny lived more than made it possible for Her to get it.
That added more pathos to the scene, because we knew the outcome, and it was linked to a big thing, just like the rest of the movie. It was many times more emotional for us (whereas those younglings were just "simply" sad)
Love the reaction, Forest Gump is an amazing movie. Something I always thought about when watching this, running is a huge theme in the movie but not just always litteral. Forest since childhood is always running toward something, where as Jenny is always running away from things. Shows how drastically different your life can be depending on your mindset. Least that's how I took it.

I hate how many people think Jenny is the villain. She's someone who suffered early childhood trauma, and that tends to really mess people up. She gets blamed for being a bad person, but sometimes trauma can destroy the rest of your life. I don't know, I just love how much Forrest loves her for her, and doesn't treat her any differently
Being treated like Jenny was since early childhood fully affected her sense of self worth which can mess with what one believes one's worth. She wanted to be loved by Forrest, but didn't feel like she was worthy of that kind of pure, unconditional love that he offered. Wanting something so bad but not feeling worthy of that thing can cause one's choices to become erratic and be seen as, perhaps, villainous to anyone who isn't willing to give that person the benefit of understanding, as has clearly happened with Jenny since this movie came out.

I'm an old fart and I remember the 60s, 70s, and 80s and every single historical reference in the movie. For example, running for health became very popular in the 80s, that's why Forrest ran for 3 years... and in the movie, he sparked a movement.

@@jp3813 Birds do that normally when someone comes close to them. Once the human leaves they go back to where they were.
@@deuteros It's a Robert Zemeckis film, not the National Geographic.
The feather also led us to Forrest. If it didn't, we wouldn't have known his story. Or we could've gotten to know a different person's story.
Jenny was the bird always trying to fly away, the feather also represents her being able to leave the Forrests behind knowing they will be OK.
This is the culmination of the ideas in the movie and it’s often overlooked, probably because of the emotion of the scene. Forrest realizes and understands what most people don’t bother to consider; existence is both completely chaotic and influenced by our actions.
The line I like best from the movie is what the feather is about, I think:
"I don't know if we each have a destiny, or if we're all just floating around accidental-like on a breeze, but I, I think maybe it's both. Maybe both is happening at the same time."
Everyone find movies that’ll make them cry. It’s what the people want.

Not all. Many prefer other emotions.
Steel magnolias will get them. It always gets people.
“After that shrimp’in was easy”.
I’m sitting here thinking yup because god eliminated the competition. 😆
still cry to this day. the movie alone stands the test of time.
The scene where he asks if his son is smart gets me every time!
Wow, that's a really good take!
Well, Forrest did go to space in film, but that was a different movie with Tom Hanks.

@@thaesimir --- Thanks Doc. Geez! Jenny didn't even tell Forrest that he had a son until the kid was school age and she knew she was dying. If she hadn't been dying, there is absolutely no indication that she would have ever told him.
@@jeffreiland7463 Jenny didn't use it as an excuse, hell she didn't even tell Forrest what her father did. In Forrest's mind, he thinks Jenny's dad was loving.
Bukola was almost as moved as she was when she found out what happened to Uncle Iroh's son.
This movie shows the innocence and heart and love towards others we should all have, while the evil of the world just swirls all around him. Greatest movie and movie message of all time. I also thought after his run "How is he going to get back?" Then I realized he was a Gazillionaire that just ran across the country for over 3 years. He could pretty much get back any way he wanted.
This was fun. That wasn’t a cop that yanked out the mic cords. But otherwise, this was fun!
Ya it was. Capitol police.
This movie will never not make me cry
The most beautiful name in the world is my name too 🤣🤗 loved the reaction, reminded me when I was in college with my girls.
"The Green Mile” another amazing movie of Tom Hanks
I think the funniest moment is when Lt. Dan asks Forrest & Bubba if they're twins, and they look at each other and they're like, "No, sir.". I always get a little teary over Bubba, and I adore the scene where we see her get the money and what she does with it. Also, no matter how many times I see it i'm always so scared that Jenny's going to jump; been too close to that moment myself not to feel that in my bones, kerk
She didn't deserve any of those money. That was a terrible story line.
Girls, you just saw a great movie winner of the
academy award, he also won best actor, best adapted screenplay, best director (Robert Zemeckis ), best special effects and best editing among other awards. Starring Tom Hanks (Forrest Gump) Robin Wright (Jenny Curran) Gary Sinise (Lt. Dan Tylor) and Sally Field (Mrs. Gump). Without a doubt, a movie to enjoy with the family.
Such a beautiful movie. I cry every time!
Die Hard, Galaxy Quest, The Martian, Life of Brian, Terminator, Psycho, Three Days of The Condor, Hard Times, No Time To Die, Obsession, Annie Hall, Taxi Driver, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, My Cousin Vinny, Marathon Man, Defending Your Life, Jack Reacher.
Subscribing immediately this looks so entertaining love it
I remember this movie coming out, like it was a week ago. A special movie.
I got so excited when RUclips recommended this to me: you all seem like great friends! I can’t wait to watch
When I saw Forest Gump at the movie theater the part where forest sent Bubba`s t mama bubba's share of his money, when he said Bubba's mama don't have to work anymore every black woman in that movie theater went crazy clapping there hands and yelling. 👏
loved you ladies reaction! subscribed!!!
You’re not American if you haven’t seen this movie 😂
You're not human if you haven't cried at this movie
One if the most enjoyable reactions I've ever watched.
Thank you.
Forrest Gump is my favorite movie, that was enjoyable. Thank you!
My first encounter of this movie was with my dad, I still remember how passionate he is watching the movie even though i couldn't understand a thing about this movie ( i was in elementary school). Years after he passed, i found the DVD and watched it by myself. Little did i knew this was a masterpiece and i couldn't stop crying. this movie gives me rollercoaster feelings. I used to understand the rebellious attitude Jenny has but watching it again as an adult, i understand her more. It's not that she didn't want to be with forrest but she felt like she didn't deserve him until almost at the end of her life.
At the same time, i really appreciate the pure love forrest have for Jenny even though she left him many times. Although Forrest is truly a lucky guy on everything but, not the things related to people he loves (his mom, bubba, and Jenny). the cinematic, music, script, acting all perfections! I truly love this movie, everytime i feel like giving up and having a bad day, i will watch this movie and cry the hell out my heart. It makes me feel better.
Its a very special movie indeed.
Hey Miqueias Martins! Forrest Gump is such a special movie for many reasons, but I think it is VERY impressive how it balances many different genres of film! I feel like I am watching a Coming-Of-Age movie, Comedy movie, Drama movie, Romance movie, and War movie, all at 1 time! It is also very inspirational to me, and I quote it all the time as well! Personally, I often connect with this movie because my brother actually has Autism (And even though Forrest might not have Autism, I think him and my brother can relate in that they are both disabled).
I also just wanted to mention that Last Year, I actually posted a video on my RUclips channel that was almost like a tribute video to Forrest Gump (though I called it a Mashup).
If you have a few minutes sometime and are interested, here is a link to that video: ruclips.net/video/Or-sIiNANYg/видео.html
If you don't check it out, no worries at all! I won't be offended! But Thank You So Much in advance if you do see it! I hope you Have a great day today, Miqueias Martins! Please Stay Safe and Stay Awesome! 🙂🙂🙂
I just found y’all and I’m in love, y’all are so cool new sub ♥️♥️♥️
You completely ruined so many parts of this movie by either injecting your politics or saying nonsense during cathartic moments like Jenny throwing the stones. You lack empathy and compassion. You only seek to validate yourself and your opinions. A few of you showed actual interest, but the rest were putting on a performance and disingenuous.
When she said, " is he gonna start running again"
I think we found a psychopath
Thank you! They lost me in the first few minutes because of that bull crap.
It's fun to see reactions of movies I've see at least a dozen times. It is truely one of my all time favorite. Gump wasn't given much to start, and handed many challenges throughout his life. Somehow he towered in accomplishment extraordinarily.
One of the best reactions 🙌 Much love ❤️ from Germany 🇩🇪
I can’t believe I willingly watched this knowing there was a possibility I would cry and JESUS. Water slides.
Wow, this was so fun to watch. Thanks for sharing your journey. In case you want another great movie with Tom Hanks: THE GREEN MILE. I would love to see y’alls reaction to it. It pulls all the heart strings and brings you all the feels. It is my favorite Tom Hanks movie.
Jenny and Forest hooked up in July. The 4th to be exact while Forest jr was born in March. Jenny was already 1 month pregnant when she showed up at Forest's doorstep and the reason she came back to Alabama. She was scared and she knew being with forest was a safe place for her and her baby and the reason why she didn't tell him until after she found out she was sick.
You guys HAVE to watch ‘The Green Mile’, assuming you somehow haven’t already. It’s another movie with Tom hanks, buts sadder and (my opinion) even better
I remember watching this in theaters when it came out, and by the end of the film everyone was crying.
Time for "The Green Mile"!
Classic. This came out when I was in college and we watched it a bunch of times.
I only realized that Jenny was abused by her father on my 3rd of 4th watch. It explains so much.
Ugh I hope you were very young when you watched this 3 or 4 times without picking up in that.
I just saw a documentary on Netflix that mentioned that Tom Hanks brother DID run for him in the movie. They look very much alike.😊
a must see movie for all of you is "Shawshank Redemption", you'll be covered with tears of happiness and a whole lotta views
