Teacher: "Now it's time for Show 'N' Tell." (Joey raises hand) "What do you have to show us, Joey?" Joey: "Check this out!" (Joey rips entire school to shreds while silly music plays, music haters notwithstanding.) Class: "Yay! That was Awesome! Do that again!" Joey: "How am I going to to do a repeat performance? Anyway, all these steel beams, windows, gates, and trusses will be scrapped as part of our Recycling Program." Teacher: "After Show 'N' Tell, we'll each take turns cleaning up this grand mess."
@westmids11 Yes, I was thinking of the waste myself while I was filming it. I suppose it down to labour costs these days. I did see timber reclaim vans in, so they probably took up the main hall floor. Also copper boilers and precious metals were salvaged along with the steel frames. The rubble will be used as landfill for the new sports fields for the school. All the timber was separated too.
That coulda gave the unemployed folk in Clydebank a job and solved soo much dole expenditure LOL, what your spending on one side in labor you'd have to spend anyway on keeping the unemployed going in benefits I never understood that.
@@Samspianopage not really, if you gave someone dole money for a full days work it would come in as under min wage. also the are other costs involved, tax N.I. and so on.
The music was computer generated by the software I was using at the time. The tunes had names but it was a long time ago and i don't use that software now. I put 'Happy' music on it as my daughter said I always used 'Doom & Gloom' music lol
I just noticed, brick and mortor walls even on the interior dividing each classroom, something you probably wouldn't see a whole lot of these days if they even use brick at all anymore LOL. It's all breezeblock or whatever they call that stuff gyprock. The old school was very string it seems though the new place is very fancy with it's timber clad exterior and crecsent shape.
Also intersting Owen to see that theres practically little or no insulation in the walls. No wonder we had to have the heating on & it was always draghty 😀.
That's well said but to be honest it was needing rebuilt I think it was getting long in the tooth and alot of things needed updated. Music's dreadful though Owen that's well dodgy for the nature of the video but hey gives it character LOL. When was the school first built? If I'm remembering it right it was 1955, makes sense looks kinda 50's I went there between 1993 and 2000. Still see alot of my old teachers at Dobbies when I'm working.
+Dara Rath The music was computer generated in my authoring software. I put happy music on it as it was a primary school being demolished, not everyone likes the music.
They were when they built this one in 1955. Not sure about modern schools. The St Andrews School in Clydebank only lasted over 30 years before it was knocked down.
Well filmed and edited but wrong choice of music. Also I would have included some Vox Pops with demo men and former pupils and teachers. Interesting footage though of clamshell demolition.
I only went to take some photos as my old neighbor asked me to as her children went to that school. I put happy music on it as it was a primary school and my daughter says i always use doom and gloom music, put the points you made are valid and i thank you for them. Its my most viewed video for some reason and I am not sure why...
I know this school I know some who goes to the new school and I had no clue that the old school was in front of the new school bc in part of this video you can see the new school behind it
Then again it was built in the mid 50s so certainly for cost reasons or simplicity certainly seems reasonable that whoever built ir would use it that late on, safety wasn't quite as much a big priority then as it is now they had to erect it quickly for the increase in pupils needing a school at the time apparently or maybe it was considered safe enough it stood for 55 years so musta bern awright enough
Agreed, I only had one guy teacher for about a day or 2 who was a supply teacher I think. That was between 1993 and 2000. Another thing I think the old school lacked badly was disabled access. You couldn't get from one level to another without either goin up stairs or going outside and round (the upper classrooms there ar the front you couldn't get to at all without goin up the stairs. I guess they never thought there would be disabled pupils attending (I was one of em ) when they built it in 1955 disabled inclusion wasn't a big thing yet in them days. Still a crackin ol school shame to see it get torn down and alot of wasteage but the new school has many advantages and looks great.
I would LOVE to be able to demolish my old school, just for the satisfaction of it. I wonder if any Demo company would allow me a quick shot at it, lol. - Sings away to myself: _"... Oh what fun we had .. but, did it really turn out bad .. All I learnt at school, was how to bend not break the rules. Oh what fun we had .. Dumm te dumm mmm mm!!"_
This is the worst thing I’ve watched since the lockdown,my dad went to this school as did my brother and I. My mother was a cleaner and I went in to help her every evening, until she retired due to ill health. This school is across the road from where my dad still stays in Irving ave. the new school to me is a huff and a puff from blowing down compared to the original school.
Worst music in a demolition I've heard so far. Can't we just listen to the sounds with out music? Good visit apart from the music. Had to turn down the sound which is a bit disappointing
It's awesome but seeing the old school getting knocked down brings a tear to my eye so many memories
This is a primary school, remember. So this freakishly delightful music somehow suits it.
Chem_Boffin_6589 I thought I would put happy music on it for this reason, some people do not like the music
Ah. I see now!
Joy to the world, the school was torn down...
Just came across this I started school here in 1965 still haunts me to this day 🤔

fantastic video. the music is relaxing. how many days did they take to knock down the school???
It took about four or five days I think. I was there for three days
Can you please tell me what the name of this cute music is? :)
The music was computer generated by the software I was using at the time. The tunes had names but it was a long time ago and i don't use that software now. I put 'Happy' music on it as my daughter said I always used 'Doom & Gloom' music lol

Yes, buildings were built a bit more substantial back in the day, modern buildings have a shorter shelf life...
Also intersting Owen to see that theres practically little or no insulation in the walls. No wonder we had to have the heating on & it was always draghty 😀.
@jamiemc2001 The new school looks great. I hope you are enjoying it. Thank you for your comment.
I miss that old school seems so long since i left
My two little brothers still attend though

Ok thanks
@comuk000 I hope you are liking the new school. It looks great.
Good Hunter ! But here, at 7:13 I saw at a window a plant. Poor plant ... the people forgot it ... Bad people. Sad !
Shower a plants Lol.

“WOW” I can use that machine for the next time my neighbor parks her car in front of my driveway. I can gently put her car on top of her house.
I love the music lol

The excavator has good clamps on it and I give you a thumbs up.
looks like it had those dangerous hollow tile floors that could give away at anytime..
Never did to my knowledge in all the years I was there. Never say never though ☺️.

Glad you like it. This video is very popular
hope you upload it whit out music
Suprised big val wasnt there with a tear in her eye! Good primary school that only thing wrong was lack of male teachers!

@ross5967 That's progress for you. I'm sure you will have good memories of the new school as time goes by.
This would actually be interesting to watch if you didn't dissolve the picture every two seconds.
I like disolves
Great film but my one criticism is there's too much fading out and fading out too soon in the middle of the action.
I was trying to keep it interesting, thanks for your comment.
You'd be surprised by how many plant/demolition fans just like to watch raw film :)
Interesting, I must try that
Glad you enjoyed it

The music, is making me a little nervous, but nice movie!
Thanks.
Yes the new school looks cool. Very modern.
I was living beside that when it happens
that school was the best more room but the new one is cool
Cool thank you

The new school does look smart.

Hahaha - smash that old primary school down!
Get rid of that cartoon noise. 🤯🤯🤯🤯
I love the new school
The new school is nice! :D
Tire este audio, é muito chato.
turn the volume off then
schools are strong buildings!!
What water.....Dust? lol

lordieshepherd very rude to say that.
tobad muzic on so bad
Its like Marmite, some people love it, some people hate it...
Que manía con poner música ratonera a los vídeos. Es una pena lo estropea todo. La musical mejor es el sonido de las maquinas y la demolición!!!!!
A useful, informative video made almost unwatchable because of the ridiculous music that, I suspect was rejected as a Benny Hill theme.
NASA
Music is GAY ! Demolishing a bldg, for corn sakes, not filming a Romper Room episode !! GEEZ !!
Hate the music, not appropriate
